Send us Fan MailWelcome to our 121st episode of the Triple FFF and our early summer confab about two big Hollywood tentpole entries that crashed and burned miserably at the box office in the wake of Gen Z's love affair with indie influencer horror to the point where Gen X has to face the facts and realize our day of IP dominance is over, we're talking about 2026's Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu directed by Jon Favreau and starring Pedro Pascal, Martin Scorcese, Jeremy Allen White and Sigourney Weaver along with Masters of The Universe, directed by Travis Knight and starring Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendez, Idris Elba, Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin, James Purefoy, Charlotte Riley and Jared Leto. Back again for more is Mr. 80's Showbiz Trivia himself, Dr. David Johnson, DMD. Before we let these critical fists fly in a flurry of thunder punches, the synopses: In The Mandalorian and Grogu, ace bounty hunter Din Djarin and his adorable little green pal Grogu team up with the New Republic for a dangerous mission: deliver Rotta the Hutt, the kidnapped son of Jabba the Hutt, back to his ruthless gangster relatives known only as the Twins. In exchange, the Republic will get critical intel on the whereabouts of several high-ranking Imperial loyalists, still on the run. In Masters of the Universe, the evil Skeletor seizes control of the planet Eternia and enslaves Prince Adam's royal parents, forcing the young noble into exile on Earth. Stuck living as a regular human in a soul-crushing and emasculating human resources job for a nameless corporation, Adam quietly yearns for the adventure and heroics he was born for. When Eternian warrior princess Teela shows up on Earth chased by Skeletor's mindless henchman Beast Man, Adam finally gets his chance — he returns home with Teela to confront Skeletor and the forces of darkness and to claim his destiny as the most powerful being in the universe… He-Man. Are these two phenomenal failures actually fabulous? Find out! Watch the video podcast on Youtube:https://youtu.be/7DcNzDMNfko
Welcome to PTBN Pop's Movie Review of The Day! Every weekday we will be reviewing a movie whether it be currently in theaters, featured on streaming or just a film that we hold near and dear to us. On today's episode, Andy Atherton is reviewing “Masters Of The Universe” from 2026 starring Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, Jared Leto & Alison Brie.
Spoilers ahead for Masters of the Universe. Jason and Rachel review Masters of the Universe, the new He-Man movie from Amazon MGM and Mattel. Rachel grew up on He-Man, She-Ra, and the whole Masters of the Universe toy-cartoon universe. Jason mostly remembers it as the moment he realized cartoons could just be commercials for toys. So naturally, expectations were complicated. We get into why the new Masters of the Universe feels like it can't decide what kind of movie it wants to be, whether He-Man works as modern IP, the strange tone, the comedy that doesn't always land, the nostalgia callbacks, the “He-Man” name problem, the 1987 Dolph Lundgren version, the She-Ra tease, and why Skeletor is easily the best thing in the movie. Plus: Jared Leto, Alison Brie, Idris Elba, Battle Cat asking for consent, Ram Man, Fisto, Brian May guitars, toy-commercial cynicism, masculine legacy confusion, and whether hardcore Masters of the Universe fans will have a better time than we did. Masters of the Universe (2026) | Flash Gordon Meets The Office (We Mean That as a Compliment)It's not a good movie. It is, however, a great time — and Cupcake and WillDaBeast are ready to make the case.Travis Knight's Masters of the Universe has everything: a jacked Nicholas Galitzine, a scenery-devouring Jared Leto as Skeletor, Alison Brie going full Evil-Lyn, and a tone so chaotic it somehow circles back around to charming. Cupcake and WillDaBeast dig into what works (almost everything once they hit Eternia), what doesn't (that 30-minute prologue needs to go), and why this film is the Madame Web of the summer — in the best possible way.- - - - - - - - - -WE ARE WATCH SKIP PLUS!FOLLOW/LIKE/SUBSCRIBE/REVIEW/LOVEEmail us: WatchSkipPlus@gmail.comBe kind. By The Power of Grayskull.....For the first time in thirty-nine years, He-Man and the other Masters of the Universe are back on the big screen! After being sent to Earth as a young boy more than fifteen years ago to hide him from the evil Skeletor (Oscar-winner Jared Leto), Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) has finally found his sword and is returning to his homeland of Eternia to reclaim his legacy. Of course, it gets more complicated than that as not only has much of Eternia (including Castle Grayskull where he's from) been decimated and taken over by Skeletor and his minions but Adam has to figure out HOW to use the sword and become the hero he was always meant to be.....He-Man. ;) Oscar-nominated filmmaker Travis Knight (Kubo & the Two Strings, Coraline, Bumblebee) directs this modernized adaptation of the He-Man legend which originated on a popular animated show in the '80's. Also included in the cast are Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-At-Arms, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, among several others.....Host & Editor: Geoff GershonProducer: Marlene Gershon Send us Fan MailSupport the showhttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

Tonight on Damn You Hollywood, we review Masters of the Universe! Based on Mattel's iconic franchise, this 2026 fantasy adventure marks the long-awaited return of He-Man to the big screen, nearly forty years after the cult-classic 1987 film. Directed by Travis Knight and starring Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man, the film follows Adam's journey back to Eternia, where he must embrace his destiny, wield the Power Sword, and defend his world from the sinister Skeletor, played by Jared Leto. Featuring a cast that includes Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin, Kristen Wiig, and Idris Elba, the film blends sword-and-sorcery action, science-fiction spectacle, and classic 1980s nostalgia. After a troubled development process that bounced between studios for over a decade, Masters of the Universe finally arrives in theaters. Did Amazon MGM successfully bring Eternia to life, or should this franchise have remained in Castle Grayskull? Join us as we break it all down on Damn You Hollywood!Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

Dave & Cody bring back 80's kid, Lance Burnett, to review Masters of the Universe, the new live-action He-Man movie 39 years in the making. The three of them split hard on this one. Dave had fun with it, Cody calls it a misfire, and Lance lands somewhere in between. They dig into the camp, the nostalgia, the sword swerve, Jared Leto's hard-to-understand Skeletor, and the thin handling of Prince Adam's missing years on Earth. Dave breaks down the full Mattel Cinematic Universe slate, all 16 projects, including an A24 Barney movie and M. Night Shyamalan directing a Magic 8 Ball series. The Pastor's Corner connects Prince Adam to the Beatitudes. Plus Hot Take Cody on the Supergirl backlash, and a round of the Movie Game.SPOILER WARNING: Full spoilers for Masters of the Universe after the news segment.Movie reviewed: Masters of the Universe (2026) — Directed by Travis Knight. Opening Line“Your Nerd Side is going full nostalgia this week — He-Man is back, She-Ra could be next, Supergirl is getting ready to fly, Spider-Noir is bringing Nicolas Cage into live-action Marvel weirdness, The Boys wrapped its final season, Star Wars is going tactical, Indiana Jones is returning to comics, Wolverine is slicing into PlayStation, and we're giving a shoutout to a voice actor gamers know well: Chris Murphy.”1. Masters of the Universe / He-ManThe new live-action Masters of the Universe movie is bringing back He-Man for a new generation. The cast includes Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, and Kristen Wiig as Roboto. Host angle:This is not just another reboot — this is Hollywood testing whether the big 1980s toy-cartoon universe can work again as a modern fantasy franchise.Quick line:“He-Man is back, Skeletor is back, and Hollywood is once again asking: can the power of Grayskull power a whole new movie universe?”2. She-Ra AngleEven if She-Ra is not the main focus yet, this is the natural fan question: if He-Man works, does She-Ra come next?Host angle:She-Ra may be the smartest expansion point because she has both 1980s nostalgia and a newer fanbase from the Netflix animated version.Quick line:“If Masters of the Universe hits, don't be shocked if fans immediately start chanting for She-Ra — because that may be the real franchise test.”3. Chris Murphy — Voice Actor SegmentChris Murphy is an American voice actor, writer, and producer. For gamers, he is best known as the voice of Murray in the Sly Cooper video game series. Behind The Voice Actors also lists him as Murray, and Streamily promotes him as “the voice of the amazing Murray from Sly Cooper.” Important clarification:This is not Senator Chris Murphy. This is Chris Murphy the voice actor, connected to PlayStation-era gaming nostalgia.Host angle:Murray was the big-hearted, funny muscle of the Sly Cooper crew. Chris Murphy helped make that character memorable for a whole generation of PlayStation fans.Quick line:“And a quick shoutout for gamers: Chris Murphy, the voice of Murray from Sly Cooper, is one of those actors whose voice lives rent-free in the heads of PlayStation kids everywhere.”4. SupergirlSupergirl is heading toward its June 26, 2026 theatrical release, with Milly Alcock starring as Kara Zor-El. The movie is inspired by the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic, and recent coverage says the final trailer is pushing big space adventure, action, and Krypto energy. Host angle:This is DC trying to prove the new universe is bigger than just Superman and Batman.Quick line:“Supergirl is not just Superman's cousin anymore — DC is putting her front and center, and the question is whether fans are ready for Kara to carry the cape.”5. Spider-NoirSpider-Noir stars Nicolas Cage in a live-action noir-style Spider-Man story. Reuters reported that the series blends superhero storytelling with classic film noir and can be watched in black-and-white or color. Host angle:This is one of the strangest and coolest Marvel-adjacent projects because it is not trying to look like every other superhero show.Quick line:“Nicolas Cage as a 1930s noir Spider-Man? That is either crazy or brilliant — and honestly, with Cage, it might be both.”

By the power of Grayskull, the listeners have spoken! For our June new release review, the members of CinemaShock+ have chosen MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, the major live-action revival of He-Man and the forces of Eternia. Starring Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, Idris Elba, and Jared Leto, the film represents Mattel's most significant theatrical push since BARBIE took over the world three years ago. We'll be taking a trek through the hyper-stylized world built by director Travis Knight, evaluating how it handles decades of lore, and discussing our childhood nostalgia for Eternia stands up against modern studio tropes. We discuss the balancing act between serving genuine 80s nostalgia and appealing to an entirely new audience, breaking down whether this block of corporate intellectual property holds any genuine artistic merit. A dive into the world of friendship with our latest "Friends Like Us" podcast episode! Marina Franklin host special guests Sharaé Nikai and David Lassiter as they talk about their incredible journey creating "The Other Gold" — a film about friendships' complexities. Watch it now on Apple TV and Tubi! Sharaé Nikai - Against industry odds, Jersey City native Sharaé Nikai wrote, produced, co-directed and starred in her very first feature film, "The Other, Gold." It is a heartfelt dramedy that follows a TV writer living in Little Tokyo as she navigates grief, isolation and the rekindling of a former BFF-ship. Out of 13,016 submissions, TOG was invited to world premiere as one of only 10 films in Tribeca's US Narrative Competition. This acclaim led to Nikai being in consideration for the 2025 Oscars, Spirit Awards and Emmys in the Outstanding Television Movie, Directing & Lead Actress categories. It also makes her the first Black female quadruple threat (sole writer/producer, director & star) to qualify for the Academy Awards with no studio or major production company backing. As a producer, Sharaé secured an exclusive Mental Health Awareness partnership for "The Other, Gold" at FOX-owned Tubi and sponsorship for its launch by Women in Film (WIF) and The Entertainment Community Fund. In March 2026, "The Other, Gold" was released worldwide in celebration of Women's History Month exclusively on Apple TV. In addition to TOG, Nikai appears in numerous ad campaigns, films and TV series including Grey's Anatomy and opposite Alison Brie in Sundance's "Horse Girl" (The DuPlass Bros/Netflix). Currently, she is the 2026 international voice of Nordstrom Rack all while developing her dramedy driven TV/film slate. In her spare time, Sharaé takes serious pride in the accent mark over her "e" and is the reigning (read: self-proclaimed) trap karaoke queen. David Lassiter is an American filmmaker, actor, writer, and musician from Jersey City, New Jersey. He co-directed and appeared in the feature film The Other, Gold (2024), which premiered at the Tribeca Festival before streaming on Apple TV+ and Tubi. Before transitioning into filmmaking, Lassiter worked as a fashion model and was signed to Wilhelmina Models, appearing in campaigns and editorial work for brands and publications including Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Vogue, GQ, Banana Republic, Swatch, and Levi's. He later studied acting in New York at HB Studio, Susan Batson Studio, and WB Workshops while appearing in national campaigns for Verizon, Macy's, and American Eagle. Lassiter also collaborated with Viacom on street-interview segments featured on MTV and MTV2. Always hosted by Marina Franklin - One Hour Comedy Special: Single Black Female ( Amazon Prime, CW Network), TBS's The Last O.G, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Hysterical on FX, The Movie Trainwreck, Louie Season V, The Jim Gaffigan Show, Conan O'Brien, Stephen Colbert, HBO's Crashing, and The Breaks with Michelle Wolf. The Backrooms are officially getting the A24 treatment, Masters of the Universe finally dropped a new trailer, and Avengers: Doomsday might be shifting release dates while fans keep waiting on that next big trailer drop. Greg Alba & Coy Jandreau go live to react to the new BACKROOMS trailer from A24, the upcoming horror film directed by Kane Parsons, the viral YouTube creator behind the original Backrooms phenomenon. Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Renate Reinsve, Mark Duplass, and Finn Bennett, Backrooms hits theaters May 29, 2026. We're also reacting to the new Masters of the Universe trailer from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios, with Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Duncan / Man-At-Arms, Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, and more. The Travis Knight-directed live-action He-Man movie arrives June 5, 2026. And of course, we're talking Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel officially still has the film dated for December 18, 2026, but reports and rumors say the studio may be eyeing a move to December 11 as fans continue speculating about when the next major trailer will finally arrive. Plus, with Marvel already teasing the return of the X-Men, Thor, and Steve Rogers, there is a LOT to unpack. Follow Coy Jandreau: Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@coyjandreau?l... Body horror has always been the unruly cousin at the horror family reunion—the one everyone side‑eyes but can't stop gossiping about later. David Cronenberg practically built the house this cousin lives in, wallpapered it with viscera, and handed out the keys to generations of filmmakers who gleefully keep the tradition alive. Enter TOGETHER (2025), a film that doesn't just dip a toe into the subgenre—it cannonballs in, using the human body as both battleground and blunt instrument.According to IMDb, the story follows Tim and Millie, a couple who decide that moving to the country will fix their relationship—because that always works out well in horror movies. Naturally, instead of fresh air and farmers' markets, they stumble into an “unnatural force” that threatens not only their love but their very flesh. Nothing says couples therapy like eldritch corruption nibbling at the edges of your anatomy.Penned and directed by Michael Shanks, TOGETHER stars real‑life spouses Dave Franco and Alison Brie, proving that nothing tests a marriage quite like acting out supernatural bodily doom together. Damon Herriman joins the fun, rounding out a cast that critics have been applauding with gusto. With glowing reviews rolling in, your co‑hosts dive into the film's squirm‑inducing delights—joined by award‑winning actor Dan Lench, who brings his own flair to the dissection.
This week, Josh and Jade review the body horror film, Together (2025). The movie is written and directed by Michael Shanks in his feature-length directorial debut. It stars Dave Franco and Alison Brie as a couple who move to the countryside, where they encounter a mysterious force that brings them closer than ever before. Is it trash or is it treasure? Find out inside the episode.

We're kicking off our slate of episodes looking back at the best horror films of 2025 with a double-feature conversation about two films which each took relationships to a horrific level. TOGETHER, written and directed by Michael Shanks and starring real-life married couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie, explores elements of codependency and insecurities within relationships by serving up a healthy dose of body horror in a literal relational union. Meanwhile, COMPANION, written and directed by Drew Hancock and starring Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid, tackles issues of objectification, power dynamics, and control within relationships by filtering a thriller-vibe narrative through a distinctly technological lens. Both films tackle issues of wholeness, self-determination, autonomy, and commitment and we invited longtime FoGger and Ghoul Scout Vera Goudie to discuss all of the ways the horror in these films reflects the risks -- and sometimes the rewards -- of complicated relationship dynamics. Also featuring a Patron-only segment where the three of us briefly share our thoughts on the landmark series finale of STRANGER THINGS, this is an open and thoughtful conversation that we really hope you enjoy.Patron Only Segment: Takes on the Stranger Things Series Finale7:51 - TOGETHER + COMPANIONSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Maintaining a long-term romantic relationship is hard work. There are good times and there are bad and sometimes couples just grow apart over time.
