We discuss how the ugliness of sin, seen through these fictional yet realistic cases, reveals the beauty of God's design and why every human life matters. Mary welcomes back apologist J. Warner Wallace with the release of his latest book, "Case Files: Murder and Meaning".  He and his son Jimmy have written a graphic novel for young adults that is a feast for the eyes, yet explores the deeper questions that shape our lives. J. Warner Wallace is a Dateline featured cold-case homicide detective, popular national speaker and best-selling author. He continues to consult on cold-case investigations while serving as a Senior Fellow at the Colson Center for Christian Worldview. How does this unique format, in the fiction genre, lend itself to the message of the gospel? We'll hear from the "Evidence Whisperer" himself about how it came about, who illustrated it, and will there be a sequel? Then we discuss evangelism and the close link to apologetics and the importance of having an evidence-based faith. Looking back at 10+ years since "Cold Case Christianity" was released, we look at the basics of knowing what we know and why it is so important to provide proof of the hope that is in us. A great hour with one of the best apologists of our day.  His books can be found here.   Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A

For former cold-case murder detective J. Warner Wallace, the horrific New Year's Day terror attack in New Orleans followed an age-old pattern of why people kill. He says of all the homicides he's worked, there are only three reasons why people commit crimes: sex, money, power. There's no fourth reason. And those three reasons fall into the larger bucket of Pride. Authorities say the suspect, 42-year-old Shamsud Din-Jabbar, had been radicalized into a distorted view of Islam, and was inspired by the terror group Isis, a power obsessed group. But Wallace, a former atheist who used his forensic skills to try to debunk Christianity and came away a believer in Jesus, has a much more nuanced view on the nature of religion. On this episode of Lighthouse Faith podcast, Wallace talks about his book, "The Truth In True Crime: What Investigating Death Teaches Us About The Meaning Of Life." Wallace says most religions, except for Christianity, are performance based; perform these rituals and services and God -or the world- will bless you. Even an atheistic worldview does this. However, that form of religion or belief falls prey to the greatest of deadly sins, pride. The only antidote to pride is humility, and humility is nothing anyone can achieve by works. And studies show, says Wallace, that humility leads not to the taking of life, but to human flourishing and the giving of life. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

They explore how trauma can shatter our worldview and expectations, and how redefining our identity in Christ can help us flourish post-trauma. They also discuss the importance of having a narrative that includes the persisting self and the hope and reduced fear of dying that comes from a Christian worldview. In this episode, we welcome J. Warner Wallace back to the show. He is a cold-case homicide detective, popular national speaker, and a best-selling author. He became a Christ-follower at the age of thirty-five after investigating the claims of the New Testament gospels using his skill set as a detective. He eventually earned a Master's Degree in Theological Studies from Gateway Seminary. You have likely caught him on television at some point as his cases have been featured on Dateline NBC more than any other detective, and he's also appeared on Court TV and Fox News. He's authored bestsellers like God's Crime Scene, and Forensic Faith. We spend most of this interview discussing his newest book The Truth in True Crime. In this interview, we discuss the importance of objective morality, how often he thinks about the cold-case murders that he couldn't solve, the problem with tethering our identity to shiftable foundations, the importance of building godly and manly community, everyone's propensity for darkness and malevolence, the thing that every gangster has in common, and much more. Do you know who are you following on social media? There's a growing trend of Mormon influencers on many platforms - especially Instagram. Their family values, conservative dress and love for family is inspiring. Many people might actually think the Church of Latter Day Saints is a different denomination of Christianity because they believe in Jesus. But sometimes we see people that seem to have similar values and beliefs only to find out their backgrounds are actually much different than what meets the eye. Today, J. Warner Wallace joins me to discuss his experience with the Mormonism and, as he says, how he “became a Christian at the same time he became not-Mormon.” At a time when so many are looking for fulfillment in their lives, it's easy to be deceived into believing what's false. J. Warner Wallace encourages us to look at everything from an investigative viewpoint to discover what's actually true, and to know the distinct differences between Christianity and Mormonism.
