Peter J. Forcelli, a recently retired Deputy Assistant Director of the ATF, joins the show to break down his career inside some of the most dangerous criminal investigations in the country. From working as an NYPD homicide detective and surviving the 9/11 attacks to leading federal investigations targeting armed gangs and violent criminal organizations, Forcelli shares what the job actually looks like behind the scenes. He talks about developing complex cases, executing hundreds of search warrants, making over a thousand arrests, and the personal toll of dedicating a life to law enforcement. Retired Homicide Detective Ramesh Nyberg describes in rich detail his remarkable journey growing up in Miami as the child of an Indian school teacher and Swedish boat-builder. Nyberg considers Miami his only real sibling, and weaves jarring stories of murder and cocaine smugglers into poignant memories of his childhood and life lessons he learned sailing the waters of south Florida.Ramesh spares no details during this podcast as he brings viewers into crime scenes and the horrors of real violence, while also conveying the ironies and often humorous aspects of law enforcement. It was his illustrious career as a homicide detective during Miami's 'Cocaine Cowboys' days that influenced him to write his memoir "Badge, Life, & Gun". This book is filled with riveting stories, bizarre and often dangerous pursuits of violent offenders, heart-wrenching scenes of grieving families, and gripping behind-the-scenes descriptions of suspects' confessions. The book flashes back frequently to pivotal moments of Ramesh's childhood that luminesce later in his life as guiding lessons in his career as a law enforcement officer. This is unlike any police memoir in existence; it is brutal, honest, and revealing, highlighting a time in Miami's heyday of cocaine and crime that will likely never occur again.Ramesh is a great story teller and a very wise man. This podcast was full of awesome historical information, as well as amazing guidance for future law enforcement officers, and life advice for any human being who needs it. Enjoy!

Interview with retired Los Angeles County Sheriff Homicide Detective Gil CarrilloYears of Service: 1971-2009Gil grew up in the 1970s in Los Angeles. The officer brought Gil home one day and told his parents that if they didn't sign Gil over to the military, they would probably lose their son.Gil joined the military, served in Vietnam, and, as he tells it, changed his life. He came home with a new attitude and three goals. To graduate from college, to become a police officer, and to get back at his ex-girlfriend, who had sent him a dear John letter while he had been in Vietnam.Gil joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department at age 21 and became a correctional deputy. He soon was on patrol and then worked in plain clothes investigating gangs. With just 9 ½ years on the job, Gil joined the Homicide Unit where worked for over 21 years.Gil is best known for being the co-lead on the Richard Ramirez “Night Stalker” case and, in this interview, discusses theories of the case that he had that no one else believed.Gil also talks about how he was approached by George Lopez to host a podcast and what that experience was like.

Welcome back for this special goodbye to my first partner and one of my best friends, John Valdez. There are perks in being best friends with the host of a show and this is it. John served over 29 years with DPD and is leaving as a Homicide Detective. He did not want a big party or any attention as he walked out the door of DPD but I actually talked him to this. So, sit back and enjoy the roast of John as he is surrounded by people who care for him. Special guest cohost: Mike Mata and Detective Mike Yeric. This is for Kelly, Macy, and Alex Valdez

The videos show detectives questioning both Maddie Soto's mother, Jenn Soto, and her accused killer, Stephan Sterns. Madeline was first reported missing on Feb. 26 after she didn't make it to school that day, and her body was found in rural Osceola County on March 1. About two months later, Sterns – her mom's boyfriend – was charged with first-degree murder after investigators determined that the teenager was likely already dead before the school bell rang that day. Sterns was arrested two days before Maddie's body was found in a field. #MadelineSoto #StephanSterns #Murder #Orlando #TrueCrime #TrueCrimeCommunity #JenniferSoto #OsceolaCounty #MissingChild #AmberAlert Patreon: Https://patreon.com/SurvivingTheSurvivorYouTube: Surviving The Survivor: #BestGuests in True Crime - YouTubeJoel's Book: Https://www.amazon.com/shop/surviving...Website: https://survivingthesurvivor.com/All Things STS
