Send us a textWe know it is happening out there, but we may be surprised to hear that trafficking affects the girl next door. Sex trafficking is happening in every state, including right here in Arizona.Sarah Buchanan, founder of Hope Rising AZ and a 16-year law enforcement veteran who served on the human trafficking unit, says there's a critical gap in services for survivors. Arizona currently ranks 13th in the nation for sex trafficking—“… yet Hope Rising Arizona is now the only restorative care sanctuary for sex trafficking survivors south of Phoenix”.As my friend and Executive Director of Hope Rising, AZ, Andy Thomas shares, 80% of women who don't receive care will return to their abusers. The need for safe, restorative spaces couldn't be more urgent. In this episode, you're going to hear the story of a survivor, her name is Selena—She seemed like the girl next door, yet nobody knew that abuse and exploitation at the age of 8--- would set her on a trajectory to entrapment in the commercial sex industry, with no way out. This episode isn't for children or the faint of heart, but it is essential listening. Selena's story will open your eyes to what's happening in our own backyard—and you will see how God has reclaimed Selena's story; she has been rescued and restored. You will also hear about ways to protect your family and how you can be part of the solution.Stay connected with the work of Hope Rising AZFacebookHope Rising Arizona info@hoperisingaz.comPROSPECTIVE RESIDENT HOTLINE: (520) 895-1511 8am - 5pm, MTFight the New DrugHere are two FREE Ebooks for you! 1. Hope doesn't come after pain—it rises within our pain. As we continue our journey through Luke's gospel in week two of our "Hope Rising" series, we encounter Jesus preparing his followers for difficult times ahead. While they admired the magnificent temple in Jerusalem—its stunning white limestone and gold accents symbolizing permanence and divine presence—Jesus delivers a shocking prophecy: "Not one stone will be left on top of another."Unlike leaders who offer shallow platitudes, Jesus doesn't sugarcoat reality. He warns of persecution, betrayal, global conflict, natural disasters, and cosmic upheaval. Yet within this sobering forecast, he plants seeds of profound hope: "This will be your opportunity to tell them about me." The very moments of greatest challenge become platforms for powerful testimony. Most striking is Jesus's paradoxical promise: "Not a hair on your head will perish." Given that many disciples would face martyrdom, this wasn't about physical safety. Rather, Jesus reveals a deeper truth—what truly matters cannot be destroyed by worldly powers. Our essential being remains secure in Christ even when everything around us crumbles. The passage culminates with Jesus's instruction that when chaos reaches its peak, his followers should "stand and look up, for your salvation is near." This invitation challenges us to examine where we've anchored our hope. Have we built our security on temples that can fall—career achievements, financial stability, perfect health, ideal relationships? When these foundations tremble, we discover what truly sustains us.As Dr. Henry Cloud wisely distinguishes, "A wish is hope without evidence, but hope, real hope, is based on evidence." Our Christian hope isn't groundless optimism but is anchored in the historical reality of Jesus's resurrection. The empty tomb remains the ultimate evidence that suffering doesn't have the final word. This is why, even in our darkest moments, hope can still rise. What does it look like for hope to rise anew in your life today? Join us as we explore how to build faith-filled endurance that doesn't shake when the world does.Support the showIf you enjoyed this episode, consider subscribing to Madison Church on your favorite podcast platform. Hope is the mindset that drives resilient behaviors in everyone, including women. Hope is the expectation we have that we can identify pathways and generate the agency to attain desired goals. Research shows that hope is a psychological strength that can be nurtured and is one of the protective factors to our well-being.This episode highlights a presentation and discussion with Dr. Chan Hellman—a professor of social work at the University of Oklahoma – Tulsa, the Executive Director of the Hope Research Center, and the author of Hope Rising— and introduces the science and power of hope, how trauma and adversity impact hope, and practical strategies for building resilience in individuals and communities. Dr. Hellman's almost 20 years of research at the Hope Research Center demonstrating hope as a protective factor for children and families experiencing adversity and trauma, will be the basis for his presentation. In this episode Julie and Ginger interview ATN's dear friend, Dr. Melissa Sadin. Melissa teaches us about Hope Theory based on the work of Gwinn and Hellman and their book Hope Rising. You can check out Dr. Sadin's books and work here: http://www.traumasensitive.com/, https://a.co/d/9x4lPtk. What is the definition of hope? Hope is setting a goal that you desire, creating a pathway toward the goal, and utilizing the willpower necessary to achieve the goal through connection to another person. Dr. Sadin further states that Hope Builds Resilience and Resilience Builds Hope. She tells us that through the following three-step process we can build hope and resilience in our children at home and students at school: 1. Set an achievable goal 2. Set the pathway -the WAYPOWER 3. Get a cheerleader- the WILLPOWER, who will help revise and check-in Melissa teaches us that: - Hope builds executive functioning capacity - Students with high hope have better attendance than students with low hope - Students with high hope have better academic outcomes than students with low hope- despite cognitive ability - Students with hope are more likely to find success in career or college sooner than students with low hope Listen in and join us in building hope!

There has been a massive and global increase in anti-Semitism since the horrific attacks by the terrorist group Hamas on the nation of Israel in October 2023. Dr. Jeffrey Johnson is the founder of Israel Today Ministries and the author of Hope Rising: Messianic Promise. He explains how the worldwide hatred of the nation of Israel is prophesied in the lead-up to the End Times. “We're at the threshold of some very powerful global events,” he says, foreshadowing the truth of Biblical prophecy. The world will turn against Israel in the end, and we're seeing the beginning stages of that violence today as war continues to unfold in the Middle East and whispers of World War III plague the globe. There is more anti-Semitism today globally than there was during World War II, according to Jeffrey. TAKEAWAYS The rumblings of war and the uprising of hatred toward Israel are a part of the labor pains of the End Times Jesus warned us about The USA cannot take a neutral stance about supporting Israel - America must support the Holy Land Palestinians are not an ethnic or religious group - they are Arabs who have embraced a particular ideology There is so much hopelessness in Israel right now amidst the ongoing war that has taken many lives - please support Israel Today Ministries

How Does God Meet Us in Our Brokenness and Suffering? (w/ Ruth Jackson) - Ep. 102

The problem of pain has plagued humanity since the beginning of time. Many great apologists have grappled with the reality of suffering, endeavoring to form a theologically sound answer to life's hardest question.   In this poignant exchange, a couple of moms wrestle with pain and suffering from a distinctly maternal point of view. Catherine and her guest from across the great pond, Ruth Jackson, have a conversation that is real, raw, and refreshingly honest.   Miscarriage. Postpartum depression. Premature death.   When suffering these heartbreaking realities, the temptation is to ask WHY… and yet answering the WHY doesn't meet our deepest need.   The Christian faith does offer an apologetic for suffering, but more importantly our faith tradition presents a God who came to earth and was broken on our behalf. He is intimately acquainted with suffering. He meets us in our grief. And when we weep, He weeps with us.   As believers in Christ, we know who suffered for us. We know who suffers with us. And we know who will wipe away every tear and make all things new.   RUTH JACKSON'S BIO: Ruth is a producer and youth specialist for Premier Christian Radio's Unbelievable radio programme and podcast, which brings Christians and non-Christians together for dialogue. ue. When trust is broken in a marriage there's always an underlying story. Although behaviors absolutely matter, there's more to be addressed. Looking at the matters of the heart for both the betrayer and the betrayed spouse makes a new chapter possible - regardless of what happens in the marriage. In this episode Jessica and Ryan McDaniel talk with Dr. Carol about their story. You may first think it's Ryan's story, but keep listening; it's Jessica's story too! And then they talk about what's happened in both of their hearts, and how they now help other couples work through these very matters in their hearts also. Catch up with Ryan and Jessica McDaniel on their website. If you've been hurt in this way, join the Hope Rising virtual conference coming up on September 30. Merry Christmas, friends! During the Christmas season, we are bringing you a super special series, “Stories of Faith & Transformation.” I cannot think of a better gift than this conversation today! Our guest for part two of this series is author, speaker, and adventurer, Kim Meeder. I have been so excited to share this conversation with you. Ever since I heard about Kim Meeder and started reading her books, my life has been so impacted. I am inspired by her faith, and I believe you will be too! Through her own experience of deep loss as a child, Kim encountered the love of God in a profound way. Inspired by Jesus' love, in 1995, Kim and her husband Troy transformed their 9-acre cinder quarry into a ranch for kids and Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch was born. This unique non-profit organization rescues abused and neglected horses and is a safe place for kids and families to come find hope. As they help nurture the horses back to health, they find healing as well. Something I find incredible is that their work with each participant is one-on-one, with one leader, one horse and one child . . . always free of charge.Kim has written and released six books (Hope Rising, Bridge Called Hope, Blind Hope, Fierce Beauty, Encountering our Wild God and Revival Rising). Her radio interviews with Focus on the Family and Family Talk remain as some of the most requested shows in their broadcast history.Kim has spoken across the globe in a variety of settings, and I am so grateful that she took time to share with us today. Kim's life radiates the truth that your pain has a purpose. On today's episode, she shares incredible stories from her own life as well as from Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch. We get into some of the topics from her newest book, Revival Rising. Kim and I talk about faith and overcoming fear, what it looks like to rely on the Holy Spirit, and how God has designed you uniquely–for this time and season. I encourage you to check out the ministry of Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch at crystalpeaksyouthranch.org*Disclaimer: Towards the beginning of our conversation, Kim shares her story which includes some heavy losses. I just wanted to give you a heads up in case you want to listen on your own first before sharing with our young listeners.Check out our website http://creativeimpactpodcast.com for the full show notes that include Kim's biography and additional links mentioned in this episode.
