On Episode 264 of The Tennis Files Podcast, I spoke with Milan Krnjetin, a former ATP pro, about how to be relentless and have a clutch mentality. Milan started playing tennis in his hometown Novi Sad, Serbia, and he was ranked #2 in Serbia in the 18s division. He eventually came to the U.S. and played college tennis for Auburn University (top 25 program in the country). Milan played in professional leagues and on the ATP tour, where he reached a ranking of 1256 in the world. Milan eventually took a huge opportunity to be a hitting partner and coach for such players as Jelena Jankovic and Jovana Jaksic. He has an online platform called TENFITMEN which stands for Tennis Fitness Mental and a fantastic YouTube Channel which details his practices with the likes of Novak Djokovic, Kevin Anderson, Alex de Minaur, Hyeon Chung, and most recently Nick Kyrgios, along with great tips to improve your game. On the show, you'll learn how to become a relentless player, how to develop a clutch mentality, why improving requires winning little battles every day, how to fully prepare to play your best before matches, and much more! I hope you enjoy my interview with Milan! Let us know what you think about the episode in the comments below! Ben and Courtney are together on Wimbledon's Middle Sunday to break down the first week of the tournament, which was a solid balance of upsets and setting up interesting second week matchups. We start with the women, including Serena Williams' escape against Heather Watson, Petra Kvitova's loss to Jelena Jankovic, and the opportunity-laden bottom half as well as the Serena-Venus fourth rounder. Then the men, including Nadal-Brown, what we think of think-piece inspirer Nick Kyrgios, and more! Lastly Ben rants about cake (shocking this hasn't happened before) and Courtney rants about women's soccer (this happens all the time). At long last, here it is! Because they're not super great at counting, Ben and Courtney have finally reached Episode 100 in their 115th episode, and they hope it was worth the wait! Wanting to make it jampacked but also true to what the show has been about, we assembled an all-star lineup of guests for the show. We start with the dulcet tones of Jelena Jankovic, and the glittery block from which she is still from. After a disastrous segment attempt, we then talk to Ernests Gulbis about his thoughts on the tour, and the mental battles fought on and off court. Lastly, because we give the people what they want, we bring you our third guest spot by the one and only Andrea Petkovic. It's a whole century worth of show, we think. On Episode 53, a roadshow, Ben and Courtney look back in the rearview mirror at happenings in Cincinnati, and forward to what it all means for the U.S. Open. What made Maria Sharapova dump Jimmy Connors after just one match? How is Serena Williams' friendliness toward Victoria Azarenka affecting their matches? Is the Federer-Nadal rivalry we saw glimpses of Cincinnati inherently better than the Djokovic-Murray rivalry ever can be? And has John Isner set himself up as the savior American tennis needs? As if all that wasn't enough, we sit down with the lovely Jelena Jankovic to discuss staying glamorous on tour. We can't give too much away, but she uses the words "very sexy" "dandruff" "hygiene" and "ingrown toenail." Enjoy. Things got way too real at Wimbledon on Wednesday, so Ben and Courtney needed to rush to the microphone to come to grips with perhaps the craziest day of results and withdrawals in tennis history. After Rafael Nadal exited in the first round Monday, Wednesday saw the exits of Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, Victoria Azarenka, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Caroline Wozniacki, Marin Cilic, Ana Ivanovic, Jelena Jankovic, John Isner and Lleyton Hewitt, all on one day. It was weird, surreal, and we have lots of thoughts about what happened, and what will happen in the future, in this draw that now will guarantee some thoroughly unexpected players in the late rounds of this tournament. We make picks, but really who knows. Make your quarterfinal picks on our Facebook page, and we'll see who's wronger! We may have lost lots of players, but we're glad not to lose you, dear listeners! “I have never cuddled with Rory McIlroy.” Guess which NCR’er said that. Ben and Courtney meet up in Mason, Ohio for the Western & Southern Open. Pardon us if we’re a little punchy. We weren’t exaggerating about the Applebees action. (Courtney’s note — Is it just me or is Ben WAY BETTER live rather than on Skype?) Talking Roger Federer dominance, the continued solidness of Angelique Kerber, Jelena Jankovic’s struggles, the charm of Petra Kvitova, we confess our love for Carlos Rodriguez (maybe. we don’t know. it’s complicated), and we talk about the faves and not-so-faves going into the U.S Open. We also take some questions. Keep them coming, y’all. And Ben finally gets an opportunity to let loose on track cycling. Spoiler alert: He is not a fan.

James Waterson and Lauren Lynch report on the weekend’s tennis news. Andy Murray won the Western & Southern Open title after World No. 1 Novak Djokovic retired at 6-4, 3-0, and Maria Sharapova won the women’s title after she outlasted Jelena Jankovic in a marathon three hour, three set match. The win takes Sharapova up to No. 5. Andy Roddick dropped out of the top 20 for the first time since 2001, and several young guns climbed to new career highs within the top 100. Meanwhile, Canada’s No. 1, Milos Raonic, will not play in the US Open, and the Williams sisters appear in Hamptons Magazine.
