Phil Simms joins us in his regular Wednesday spot. He thought the Jets offense played better this week, but the defense let them down on the last drive. Boomer asked Phil why Garrett Wilson always seems to go down after making a catch. We also talked about the Jets somehow being favored over the 6-2 Texans. Phil thinks it's because the Texans are beat up and the Jets are home and are due for a win. We then talked to Phil about the Giants loss in Pittsburgh. As far as QBs for the Giants to draft, Phil doesn't have an answer for that yet. He did say Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders jump out at you, but doesn't know if they are first pick worthy. Phil likes Bo Nix and said Sean Payton has his next Drew Brees. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of John Sterling as Aaron Judge had an RBI single. Jerry has audio of Tommy Luguaer vs Tiki Barber when it comes to Brian Daboll. In the final segment of the hour, Genie Bouchard got a foul ball at the World Series, but realized she only got it after it hit a woman in the face. She gave the ball to the woman.
Hour 1 The Yankees won a game last night and the ‘Goomba Grabbers' out in right field ripped a ball right from Mookie Betts' glove in foul territory. Anthony Volpe was the hero with a grand slam in the third that made it 5-2 Yankees. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of John Sterling calling the Volpe grand slam. Jerry doesn't like what these fans did but Boomer seemed to not have an issue with it. Aaron Rodgers talked about drinking water with cayenne pepper. Jerry Jones was on the radio in Dallas and was asked about ‘deez nuts'. In the final segment of the hour, an old caller wants the Yankee fans arrested for assault on Mookie Betts. Hour 2 The Yankees stayed alive with a win last night and have their ace, Gerrit Cole, going tonight. Boomer said the Yankees just have to not have the Dodgers celebrate on their field. Judge and Ohtani have been non-factors in these games. Paul O'Neill airmailed his first pitch last night. We also talked about how nice Mrs. Met's butt is. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sound of John Sterling on the call as Gleyber Torres homered. Sterling does not sound well as he's clearly fighting a cold of some sort. Anthony Volpe hit a grand slam. Mike Francesa is going to be on the livestream with Barstool Sports tonight. Steff Diggs is done for the season with a torn ACL. In the final segment of the hour, another caller thinks the fans from last night should be arrested for assault on Mookie Betts. Hour 3 Phil Simms joins us in his regular Wednesday spot. Hour 4 The Yankees are alive thanks to some actual offense and a couple of Yankee fans in the crowd that ripped the ball out of Mookie Betts' glove. Gerrit Cole is on the mound and this is why he's here and this is why he's paid what he's paid. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with the sounds of John Sterling calling the Anthony Volpe grand slam. Aaron Rodgers is drinking water with cayenne pepper and calls it the ‘fountain of youth'. Jeff Ulbrich met the media and thinks the Jets are close to figuring this out. Moment of The Day: A bunch of insults and a perfectly timed Eddie drop right on Boomer's head. In the final segment of the show, BT said he was done with Volpe because he wasn't going to get a big hit and then Volpe went out and hit a grand slam. Gio said he needs to say the same thing about Aaron Judge on today's show. This is the last Yankees home game of the season, so enjoy it. Hopefully ‘the Goomba Grabber' is back in his seat again tonight.

Crina Mustafa, basketball and tennis content creator, comes over to Tennis and Bagels Podcast to chat (and cheer) with Andre about Canada's history-making moment with the Billie Jean King Cup title in Seville.Leylah Annie Fernandez, the 21-year-old dynamo who's been making waves since her epic run to the 2021 US Open final, took on the role of leader of the Canadian team despite her young age, and did not disappoint. She went undefeated in 2023 in Billie Jean King Cup competition in both singles and double combined, making it a total of 8-0 for the year. After tough matches and near-misses, Fernandez fended off Ysaline Bonaventure in the Vancouver qualifiers in April after being a set and a break down to send Canada to the Billie Jean King Cup Finals stage. There, her way was no simpler, having to go down the trenches against Sara Sorribes Tormo of Spain in a three-hour, two-tiebreak battle, then getting her first top 10 win against Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova of Czechia in three sets in the semi-finals. Against Italy, the title was sealed with a straight-forward win over Jasmine Paolini.Another young star seems to be being born in Canadian tennis, as Marina Stakusic left her mark in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals. The 18-year-old, who has done incredibly well in the ITF World Tennis Tour, coming off of a win at the Tevlin Challenger in Toronto, lost only one match the whole week, going down against former Roland Garros champion and former World No. 2 in two sets, but winning every other match against players much higher ranked than her. Her incredible performance gave Canada the courage and belief necessary to go all the way, as Stakusic also went relatively untroubled against former Roland Garros semifinalist Martina Trevisan in the first singles against Italy.Rounding up the team, US Open women's doubles champion Gaby Dabrowski partnered up with Fernandez in the critical match against Czechia to defeat multiple Grand Slam champions Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova to send Canada to the final.Rebecca Marino and Genie Bouchard also left their hearts on the court, with Bouchard taking on to the court in doubles. At the end of it all, Heidi El Tabakh also got her much awaited and deserved triumph with Team Canada as the team captain. The cheerful, but calm and focused captain's actions and critical decision making led Canada to be at its optimal state to finally lift the coveted trophy for the first time in the competition's history.Talk to us on social media :)Follow Crina Mustafa!Twitter: @crinammFollow Tennis and Bagels: Twitter @TennisAndBAGELSAndre Rolemberg @RolembergAndreVansh Vermani @vanshv2kOwen Lewis @tennisnationCheck out Popcorn Tennis!Twitter: @Popcorn_Tennis1Website: popcorntennis.comSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/tennis-and-bagels. Like many elements of the incredibly fast-growing sport of pickleball, the PPA Tour does not yet have a long history, having been founded in 2018. But its growth has also been very much on the upswing. Today the tour offers 24 events nationwide and a prize purse exceeding $5 million. Carvana is on as a title sponsor and interest on all levels in the tour continues to rise. Recent months have also seen the signing of a slate of professional players, many of who are former tennis stars like Sam Querry, Jack Sock and Genie Bouchard to name a few. The recently announced merger with Major League Pickleball, an entity that has taken more of a team approach, also promises to grow the pie. And the PPA Tour recently became the first league to allow gambling on matches, opening the sport to a new audience of potential bettors on the action. In this conversation, we chat with tour's president, Bryce Morgan, about where the tour has been, where it's headed and trends the PPA is watching by way of venue development, site selection, participation rates and more.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Ordentliche Herausforderungen also. Sinakova war gerade erst frisch vom Doppeltriumph in New York eingetroffen. We're back with a bumper two-week episode, and there's a LOT to talk about. Djokovic broke the record for most weeks at world number one with 311, which is now a little longer because we forgot to mention it before but that's been rectified here. Federer was back in Doha and looked good in his three setters despite falling to eventual champion Basilashvili, while Muguruza finally won a title in her third final of the year in Dubai. St Petersburg appropriately had an all-Russian semi final lineup with 'Russian wall' Daria Kasatkina winning her second title of the year, the first home player to win the tournament, and we reflected on her journey over the last few seasons and how she sums up the state of the WTA Tour. This week saw Rublev's ATP 500 streak finally snap in Dubai where he lost to Karatsev. And we really need to talk about Karatsev, who won his first tour title at the ripe age of 27 and gave us Djokovic-domination vibes. Over in Acapulco, Zverev survived an earthquake to come through to the final and beat Tsitsipas, while last year's Rome favourite Lorenzo Musetti returned to show he can keep beating the top guys. We look at Genie Bouchard's last few years since going top five and making the Wimbledon final, and ask everyone to cut her a bit of slack, then get excited about teen favourites Clara Tauson and Leylah Annie Fernandez winning titles. And then it's over to the Miami Open where we compare and contrast the loaded WTA draw with the noticeably scaled back ATP draw and do our favourite thing - make predictions that ultimately never come true.
We all love a good Roger Federer comeback moment but are we going a little too far when we proclaim that his return to the tour has "revived the ATP?" A rusty second round exit in Doha and his announcement that he is pulling out of Dubai next week and has "decided to go back to training as a result" leaves Fed fans longing and the tennis world wondering "what the Fed is going on?" Insert the incredible stories of Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal, and Jason's fave, the yet unfinished chapter of Juan Martin Del Potro into this conversation. Are you Fed fans saying that tennis can't thrive and survive without Fed in it? Many would disagree, and the boys get into ALL. OF. IT. Add to this the duo's coverage of Garbine Muguruza and their bestest Genie Bouchard in their respective WTA tournament's and you have yourself a jam packed, sensation of an episode. Roger Federer fans, come at us, we're ready for you! IG @readyplaytennispodcast E: readyplaytennispodcast@gmail.com TikTok @readyplaytennispodcast
