On March 5, the Court of Arbitration for Sport rendered its decision on the Simona Halep appeal: the doping was not intentional and the suspension was reduced to 9 months, time long since served. It's the welcome end to a saga that has dragged on and shaken trust in the sport's anti-doping institutions. But, we're left with ever more questions: Why were the conclusions of the ITIA and CAS so starkly different? What of the biological passport results? What took so long? Why are tennis players often so successful at CAS? Aside from the Halep news, we talk about the early happenings at Indian Wells, the cancellation of Netflix's Break Point, the ATP's annual awkward International Women's Day video, and more. 01:40 CAS accepts Simona's contamination defense and throws out biological passport charge 07:50 Why are the conclusions of ITIA and CAS so vastly different? 15:00 Comparisons to Sharapova, the question of “innocence” 25:00 So where are the “real” dopers? 35:30 Indian Wells: withdrawals, Sinner's win streak, Kerber-Woz revival 45:15 Break Point is over: what went wrong? 50:40 Ruby amends his apology, thanks to Sofya Tartakova 51:50 A (very) slight improvement in the ATP's Women's Day video!
Maria Sharapova, the global tennis icon who spent her career defeating the sport's best, is looking for some losers. On the premiere episode of The Deal with Alex Rodriguez and Jason Kelly, she tells us exactly what she means. For many, Sharapova is a figure frozen in time. It was 2004 when she stunned Serena Williams on Centre Court to win her first Wimbledon and first Grand Slam. Sharapova would go on to become (like Williams) one of the most recognized tennis players of her generation. These days, however, she's turned her laser focus to dealmaking. Even as she was climbing to the top of the tennis world, the Russian-born star was already building a business resume—these days she's reportedly worth in excess of $200 million. Now with her tennis career behind her, all of those off-court projects have become a full-time job. With an attitude forged in the highest-pressure sporting arenas, she approaches a range of partnerships with a sly worldliness. One thing she's keen to find? People who have seen it all go sideways. Sharapova says that only those who have lost can eventually win.Listen to The Deal now. You can also watch The Deal on Bloomberg Originals, YouTube, or Bloomberg TV.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Iga Świątek, Eileen Gu and Coco Gauff are the top earners for the past 12 months as tennis players continue to dominate the annual pay ranking. With Serena Williams retired and Naomi Osaka sidelined for the year as she recovered from injuries and then childbirth, the list of the world's highest-paid female athletes has a new No. 1: 22-year-old Polish tennis star Iga Świątek, who made an estimated $23.9 million in 2023 (before taxes and agents' fees). Since Forbes introduced the ranking in 2008, Maria Sharapova is the only other woman to have claimed the crown, reigning for eight straight years until Williams took over in 2016.Świątek's monster year included the women's singles title at the French Open, and four new endorsement deals, but it's also no coincidence that she—like Osaka, Williams and Sharapova before her—plays tennis. Twelve of the world's 20 highest-paid female athletes, and nine of the top 10, come from the sport, which offers sizable prize money and ample marketing opportunities for female athletes.Golf and soccer each have two athletes represented in this year's top 20, with badminton, basketball, gymnastics and freestyle skiing rounding out the list with one athlete apiece.Combined, the 20 top-earning women made an estimated $226 million in 2023. That is a 13% drop from 2022's $258 million, but the decline can be attributed almost entirely to the loss of Williams (who hauled in $41.3 million on last year's list) and Osaka's tumble to $15 million (from $51.1 million in 2022) amid her long layoff.Forbes SportsMoney Reporter Justin Birnbaum, joins 'Forbes Talks' to list the highest paid female athletes.Stay ConnectedForbes newsletters: https://newsletters.editorial.forbes.comForbes on Facebook: http://fb.com/forbesForbes Video on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/forbesForbes Video on Instagram: http://instagram.com/forbesMore From Forbes: http://forbes.comForbes covers the intersection of entrepreneurship, wealth, technology, business and lifestyle with a focus on people and success.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

While you may know Maria Sharapova from her time as a decorated, professional tennis player, her accomplishments expand far beyond that. Since retiring from tennis in 2020, Sharapova has been busy building her investment and business portfolios. Currently, Sharapova is a board member of Moncler, among other brands, and she founded premium candy brand Sugarpova in 2012. Aside from her business endeavors, Sharapova is also an investor in wellness and beauty brands, including Bala Bangles, Therabody and Supergoop! And on top of that, she became a new mother in July 2022. Though Sharapova is juggling many hats, she said her main focuses are motherhood and continuing to build upon her authority in the investor space. "[I'm looking forward to] continuing to align with brands that have incredibly strong foundations. It's a tough time for many people that are entrepreneurs," Sharapova shared on the latest episode of The Glossy Podcast. "Investing your time and finances into the stage in a company when no one is really taking chances on people is ultimately where I'd like to step in and see opportunity."

Senenin son Grand Slam'i geride kaldı. İlk olarak Swiatek'in şampiyonluğunu konuştuk. Amerika Açık kapanış podcast'imize bekleriz! https://Art2Life.com - I believe it is the artist's role to show us, in the trail of their art, who they are and who they are becoming. The more we can feel them, the more we can connect to their art. But what if you were not alone in your art-making? What if there was someone else? Then the lens with which you create could become remarkably more expansive. What this would make possible is hard to imagine for most of us solitary makers. But not for Igor Kozlovsky and Marina Sharapova. They met while still attending art school in St. Petersburg, Russia. But it wasn't until many years later, after immigrating to the United States, that they began collaborating to make their paintings. Today, the husband-and-wife team create gorgeous oil paintings that showcase and push the differences between each other, the representational and the abstract, the modern with the traditional, and as you will soon find out, the wild and fiery with the meditative and serene. Join me now, for a peek into this beautiful, almost storybook collaboration of art-making. And in this case, certainly, life-making. ================================ LISTEN IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN… The love and art story of Igor and Marina [3:31] Exploring art collaboration within a marriage [10:15] The unique perspective Marina brings to the work and creating the atmosphere of a story [13:50] The gifts and challenges Igor and Marina bring to the collaborative art-making table [19:34] The evolution of Igor and Marina's art collaborations and the road ahead [29:45] The logistics of Igor and Marina's life and art practice [35:45] Igor And Marina's advice to aspiring artists [43:04] ================================= CONNECT WITH IGOR KOZLOVSKY AND MARINA SHARAPOVA Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/igor_and_marina/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/IgorKozlovskyMarinaSharapova Website: http://www.igor-marina.com/ Book: Igor & Marina ============================= CONNECT WITH NICHOLAS WILTON: Facebook: https://facebook.com/art2lifeworld/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/art2life_world/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/Art2Life Pinterest: www.pinterest.com/art2life_world/ Join the Art2Life Artists' List and get the Sunday vlog here: https://art2life.lpages.co/sign-up-for-the-a2l-vlog/
