Following November's gubernatorial election, the tone and tenor of discourse in Madison is markedly different than it was four years ago. The Badger State is looking at a budget surplus of billions of dollars, and both the Legislature and governor's office have great incentive to improve the lives of Wisconsin families by working together for meaningful solutions. School choice guru Jim Bender joins Badger Institute President Mike Nichols to discuss these post-election dynamics in the Capitol, including opportunities to invest in student success through accessible and equitable school choice funding in the next state budget cycle. To start today's show, we have some of Gov. Evers recent policy decisions - Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate, Rebecca Kleefisch, joins us with some strong words about Gov. Evers energy plan and Jim Bender, former president of School Choice Wisconsin, who has some similarly scathing things to say about Gov. Evers education bill vetoes. Next is Congressman Tom Tiffany (WI-07), who talks about Americans awakening to the problems with the Democrats. Then it's The Federalist senior editor, Christopher Bedford, who goes over Elon Musk's attempt to make Twitter private and the domino effect that he hopes will spring from it. Fresh from his appearance on The Tucker Carlson Show, we have Dan Gainor, vice president of Free Speech American and Business for Media Research Center, talks free speech and social media. Also joining us is Glenn Roper, attorney with Pacific Legal Foundation, to give us his assessment on the chances that the federal overturn of the travel mask mandate will remain. Plus, Vicki talks Facebook unpublishing Wisconsin Right Now's page, the Madison police body camera bait and switch, and - of course - masks.
Eric Hovde on his decision not to run for governor, Matt Kittle on the Middleton drag show, Jim Bender of school choice WI, Wisconsin Right Now's Jessica McBride, Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform ahead of Tax Day, and Brian Schimming in studio
Vicki's once again back in the studio and starting the show off with some good news is Jim Bender, former president of School Choice Wisconsin, discusses decline in public school enrollment - which, granted, doesn't sound like good news, but it is for School Choice Wisconsin. Then Empower Wisconsin/Wisconsin Spotlight Executive Director Matt Kittle unpacks the latest story from wisconsinspotlight.org about emails from Michael Spitzer-Rubenstein asking for voter level data during the 2020 election. Wisconsin Assembly Rep. Joe Sanfelippo (Dist. 15) is next, explaining how the crime surge in Wisconsin happened and what people are - and are not - doing about it. Best-selling author Jed Babbin, former U.S. Undersecretary of Defense, breaks down his latest piece in the Washington Times on China's threat to Taiwan. He's followed by Marc Morano, founder of Climate Depot, who explains how Green New Deal thinking is causing the global supply crises. Plus, Bill Osmulski, content director for the MacIver Institute, talks about the Dept. of Health Services manipulating COVID death numbers in Wisconsin.
School shutdowns, mask mandates and the teaching of critical race theory have once again made school choice a priority in the state that pioneered it. Will Flanders of the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty and Jim Bender of School Choice Wisconsin join us in discussing the future of education in the Badger State.
Vicki talks with Jim Bender from School Choice Wisconsin; U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil; Wis. Senator Steve Nass; Phil Kerpen; and tackles the Republican Party with Judge Jim Troupis.
