Information from Save Our States: Today, Dec. 11, is the deadline for states to certify presidential election results, the final step before presidential electors meet and vote on December 17. Save Our States is an organization that defends the Electoral College and the constitutional power of the states. Highlighting how this process is a reminder of the importance of our multi-step presidential election process, its executive director, Trent England, said: “Between Election Day and Inauguration Day, the Electoral College ensures that every state plays a part in the process of electing our President and Vice President. Each state’s certification of its own election results is an important step, providing a check on election integrity and affirming the value of voters in every part of the country. This process to choose our national executive, outlined in the Constitution, unifies, moderates, and protects our unique form of government. We must continue to reject any calls to dilute the electoral college or alter it with dangerous election schemes like the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPV).” Save Our States created the Electoral College 101 website, a comprehensive resource for voters about how our President and Vice President are elected and how our election system works. Morning news for COnspiracy Theory Thursday, and later a great talk with Trent England from Save Our States, the group fighting not only ranked choice voting (which lost) but the National Popular Vote - Is this all dead now?
Constitutional Chats hosted by Janine Turner and Cathy Gillespie
The electoral college is one of the most important characteristics of our republic, but it is also perhaps the most misunderstood. Every time we vote for President the merit of the electoral college is debated. But what is it? Why was it created? How does it protect small states, and preserve state identity? Should we view it as a problem itself or an effective solution to a problem? To address all of these questions and so much more, we are delighted to have Michael Maibach, electoral college expert and Distinguished Fellow for Save Our States, as our special guest this week.

Margaret Hoover hosts a forum at Hofstra University on whether America should abolish the Electoral College with writers Jesse Wegman and Trent England. Wegman, author of “Let the People Pick the President” and a member of The New York Times editorial board, makes the case that the current system is unfair and undemocratic, empowering a handful of swing states to decide who leads the whole country. England, who founded Save Our States and wrote “Why We Must Defend the Electoral College,” argues the Electoral College makes presidential campaigns both more national and more granular at the same time, forcing candidates to appeal to diverse factions of voters across the country who otherwise would have little influence. Wegman and England discuss the history of the Electoral College, the intent of the nation's founders, and how it all relates to slavery. They also debate the merits of a national popular vote and whether other reforms are possible, and they take questions from the student audience. Jeff discusses the Electoral College - its origins, the rationale behind it, and controversies surrounding it over the years, with Michael Maibach, a noted authority on the topic. They dig deeply into the origins of the system, as created at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, debunk contemporary claims of its connection to slavery, and analyze the current "National Popular Vote" movement, which seeks an end-run around the Constitution to subvert the republican system created at the Founding. "Sometimes, people desire simplicity, but freedom is not a straightforward matter," remarks Michael Maibach, a Distinguished Fellow specializing in American Federalism at Save Our States. Maibach recently joined AMAC CEO Rebecca Weber for an exceptionally informative episode discussing the significance of the electoral college in elections and the ongoing debate about its elimination. One of the major concerns associated with adopting a national popular vote to determine the presidency is the potential for a few heavily liberal cities to sway the entire election outcome. Have you ever considered the idea of disaggregating your electors? Maibach refutes this point and proposes that we "move past this argument," drawing upon his extensive knowledge of the electoral college's historical context. Tune in to discover why the current electoral college system is, in fact, a democratic method for selecting our president.

I have been aware that our Electoral College has been under attack for quite some time. It is what has secured our democracy and kept us as a Constitutional Republic. There is a difference between the two, and the difference has secured our country, kept us free, and protected our elections for over 200 years. However, there are people that realize this and know that without the Electoral College, it would be easier to take power away from people and our States. In this interview Trent England will give us his information, tell us about his organization, and what they are doing to Save our States.

One the biggest concerns facing us – regardless of who emerges as the victor in this election – is the threat of globalism. Back with us this week is Alex Newman (thenewamerican.com), Senior Editor at the New American magazine, who looks deeper into the United Nations' new plan for globalism called the Great Reset. They plan to eliminate individual freedom, sovereignty, and the free economic system, not to mention Christianity. Everything that God has ordained on this earth, they want to flip upside down. It's not so much a reset of the current system as it is a complete abolishment of it. Why is it that the division and rancor is so great today but a few decades ago, it wasn't nearly as bad? John takes a look at the differences between then and now in terms of commonality of worldviews. We didn't get here overnight; it took years to create the divide. We then replay a still relevant speech John gave in 2007 entitled, 'How Did We Get Here?' He discusses the Marxist takeover of education and the rise of consensus thinking. Finally, there is a push by far left groups to end-run the electoral college by enacting the National Popular Vote movement. State legislatures would agree to send electors to vote based on who won the popular vote nationally – regardless of who won the individual state. Trent England (saveourstates.com), Founder and Executive Director of Save Our States, is back with us to discuss how this would change politics for the worse, forcing politicians to placate their base rather than building coalitions.

Whirlwind of important topics on this week's show. First up, we welcome back defense and aerospace veteran Reuben Johnson (www.thebulwark.com) who examines the geopolitics of Belarus, with their growing uprisings; Russia and its future; and China's inroads into Eastern Europe with their Belt and Road Initiative. Back here in America, the far leftist crowd is determined to rid our country of the Electoral College. Trent England (www.saveourstates.com), Founder and Executive Director of Save Our States, discusses the effort to convert us from a representative government for everyone to, what he dubs, the “United Big Cities of America.” Science and medicine are supposed to be free of politics but it's an election year so all the rules are out the window. Research writer Dennis Behreandt (www.thenewamerican.com) is back with us to look at the science behind hydroxychloroquine as well as the bad publicity it has received simply because President Trump lauded its use. It's supposed to be scientifically – not politically – correct in the world of science. Next we travel to the Middle East with David Rubin (www.shilohisraelchildren.org), former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, who joins us from his home there. He looks at both the strategic and economic implications of the Israel-United Arab Emirates agreement, focusing on the constant threat from Iran and the financial benefits to the UAE of partnering with the Middle East's only democracy. We wrap up this week with John's analysis of the government criteria for future vaccine use and the ethical and legal implications in vaccine development and implementation.

What You Need to Know is the Trump economy is launching again! The American economy and the world economy is impacted first and foremost by how you and I and everyone participating “feels” is happening. Remember the Eagle Index: the stock market, small business confidence, unemployment numbers, and consumer confidence can give you a picture of where the economy is headed. All these numbers were breaking records before the “great pause” because of the Chinese virus. The problem with this great pause we’ve been in is big business has gone up, but small businesses have been hurt. We’re going to have to do our part during the “great reentry” to get those small businesses going again! Trent England, Director of Save Our States, tells us about his book Why We Must Defend the Electoral College! Also, what is the general election scenario that Democrats are dreading? Tim Chapman, director of Stand for America, talks about how Congress Must Stand Up to China! Check out the petition to ask Congress to stop the Chinese Communist government’s deception and manipulation of the U.S. Wrap up: Biden’s online campaign is still loading.
