The highest court in the U.S. state of Wisconsin

Karen Mueller is founder and General Counsel for Amos Center for Justice and Liberty.--Last December on Crosstalk, Karen introduced listeners to a pending Wisconsin Supreme Court case titled- Allen Gahl v. Aurora Health Care, Inc. At stake is the issue of patient rights and what are those rights when a hospital refuses to provide a standard of care that the patient or the patient's representative requests.--Allen Gahl is the nephew of, and medical power of attorney for, John Zingsheim. John became the focus of this case after he entered the hospital in September of 2021. Aurora Summit Hospital in Waukesha County diagnosed him with COVID-19 and placed him on a ventilator. He wanted to be given Ivermectin, so Allen began requesting that from the hospital, however, they refused.--Karen then returned to Crosstalk in January of this year after submitting oral arguments to the Wisconsin Supreme Court. She informed listeners that in a two day conference hearing with lawyers, a judge decided that John had a right to get Ivermectin as long as it was an outside doctor that the family found that could be credentialed, enter the hospital, and administer the Ivermectin. Before the order could be fulfilled, the appellate court intervened and stayed the order on the granting of the Ivermectin.--Karen's arguments were not about what treatment is best for COVID-19. Instead, she argued that this case is about the health care power of attorney and the rights that the legislature had given to Wisconsin citizens.--Last week the Wisconsin Supreme Court rendered its opinion 6-1 against the case presented by Karen.

Full Hour | In today's third hour, Dom leads off the Dom Giordano Program by telling about some online grumbles about Jalen Hurts' agent Nicole Lynn, who allegedly left her working relationship with rapper Lil Wayne over his friendship with former President Donald Trump. Then, Dom tells about a decision in the Wisconsin Supreme Court that won't order Ivermectin use for COVID. After that, Dom and Dan return to the topic of police surveillance, with Dan arguing in favor of the installation for more cameras, which he argues as an extra tool for understaffed police to do their jobs. Dom takes umbrage with this suggestion, arguing against the invasion of privacy that would come with such an initiative. (Photo by Getty Images)

The Dobbs decision may be in the rearview mirror, but the abortion issue remains front and center. In fact, it's becoming a winning platform for Democrats, as seen in the recent Wisconsin Supreme Court election. Andy calls up New York Times politics reporter Reid Epstein and Capital Times reporter Jessie Opoien to discuss that race as a bellwether heading into the 2024 election season, and how Republicans are responding. In record time, Democrats have managed to turn the massacre of Christian children by a transgender woman into a Civil Rights LARP. Two state representatives were expelled from the TN legislature for participating in a riot, allowing them to pose absurdly as victims and freedom fighters. Meanwhile the Wisconsin Supreme Court flips to the left, raising questions about Republicans' rhetorical strategy on abortion. Plus: the editors recount their favorite articles this week before reminding you to read the damn site.
On this week's episode of 'The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart': Secretary of Health & Human Services Xavier Becerra joins the show to discuss the White House's response to a Texas judge's ruling threatening access to an abortion pill. In a big win for progressives, Janet Protasiewicz flipped a conservative seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Plus, Dr. Barry C. Black and the Most Rev. Michael Curry share an Easter message of hope. All this and more on this week's episode of 'The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart.
Host Reed Galen shares his thoughts on the Republican Party's past week of insanity (indictment, expulsions, everything Florida, etc) in which the GOP crossed the political event horizon. Also, the Wisconsin Supreme Court election result proves again that Americans continue to denounce “MAGA Crazy” in favor of “normal”. Plus, a question to everyone in the pro-democracy coalition: Do you want to win? If you'd like to connect with The Lincoln Project, send an email to podcast@lincolnproject.us.

It's Thursday, April 6th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark First Muslim leads Scotland Last Wednesday, Humza Yousaf was sworn in as Scotland's new leader. According to Reuters, he is the first Muslim to head a democratic western European government. However, Yousaf is committed to leftist social values like protecting sexually perverted lifestyles and decriminalizing the murder of unborn babies. He also pledged support for a ban on conversion therapy that the Scottish legislators said they will bring forward this year. Conversion therapy involves helping someone change their so-called sexual orientation or gender identity after they request help to do so. In response, a coalition of 20 church leaders sent a letter to the legislature. They wrote that a ban “would go far beyond outlawing abuse and coercion; instead, it would criminalize ordinary Christians and church leaders for expressing mainstream, orthodox belief.” Trump's speech after New York arraignment On Tuesday night, after former president Donald Trump's arraignment in New York City on 34 felony counts, he flew back to Palm Beach, Florida where he delivered a 30-minute speech to supporters from Mar-a-Lago, reports The Epoch Times. TRUMP: “I never thought anything like this could happen in America. The only crime that I have committed is to fearlessly defend our nation from those who seek to destroy it. (applause) “From the beginning, the Democrats spied on my campaign. Remember that? They attacked me with an onslaught of fraudulent investigations. Russia, Russia, Russia. Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine. Impeachment hoax #1. Impeachment hoax #2. The illegal and unconstitutional raid on Mar-a-Lago, right here. (crowd boos) “The lying to the [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] courts. The FBI and DOJ relentlessly pursuing Republicans. The unconstitutional changes to election laws by not getting approvals from state legislators. The millions of votes illegally stuffed into ballot boxes, and all caught on government cameras. And, just recently, the FBI and DOJ, in collusion with Twitter and Facebook, in order not to say anything bad about the Hunter Biden laptop, which exposes the Biden family as criminals in which according to the pollsters would have made a 17-point difference in the election result. And we needed a lot less than that!” Mental issues precede gender transition of white female girls Researchers from Northwestern University released a study last week about people pretending to be the opposite sex. It was based on parental reports on 1,500 children who have experienced gender confusion. The study found girls of European descent represented the vast majority of cases. The average age when a case began was 14.8 years. Most parents of girls with gender confusion said their daughter had a mental health history. On average, mental health issues surfaced 3.8 years before gender confusion began. Most parents also reported experiencing pressure from a “gender clinic or specialist” to “transition” their child. In Mark 10:6, Jesus said, “But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.'” After bullying, North Carolina Democrat becomes Republican A North Carolina state representative announced yesterday that she is leaving the Democratic Party and becoming a Republican. The move gives the GOP veto-proof control in the state legislature. Rep. Tricia Cotham said she and her family have been bullied and attacked by Democrats for her attempts to work across the aisle. Listen to her share what the deal breaker was for her. COTHAM: “One of the absolute worst moments, which was a deal breaker, a turning point for me, was when I was criticized for using the American flag and the praying hands emoji on all my social media platforms, and even on the back of different vehicles that I have. I really could not believe that was the conversation that was happening at that time. And I was deeply offended. I am proud to be an American. I am proud of our country. I'm proud of the men and women in my family who have served.” Pro-abortion judge beat pro-life judge for Wisconsin Supreme Court Pro-abortion Judge Janet Protasiewicz beat pro-life candidate Dan Kelly in the Wisconsin Supreme Court election on Tuesday. The pro-death judge will replace a conservative justice who is retiring, swinging the court to a 4-to-3 liberal majority. The court is likely to hear a case soon challenging a state law protecting the unborn. Protasiewicz outspent Kelly in what was the most expensive state Supreme Court race in U.S. history. The total came out to over $42 million spent, according to the nonprofit Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. COVID pandemic heightened loneliness The response to the COVID-19 pandemic had an effect on loneliness in America. A study by Gallup found that 17% of adults experience daily loneliness as of February, down from 25% during pandemic shutdowns. The report also found people were more likely to report daily loneliness if they lived in big cities and were single. The study correlated the two findings. It revealed “that those who live in the most sparsely populated areas are also the least likely to feel loneliness. … Higher percentages of rural populations [are] married [with] children at home than what is found in urban environments.” Weekly religious attendance down since COVID And finally, a new study from Pew Research looked at the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on religious attendance in America. The percentage of those who attended services in person took a hit at the start of the pandemic dropping to 13%. It's back up to 28% but has plateaued. Live-streaming services have decreased from 36% to 24% now. And the percentage of those who say they participate in services virtually or in person has remained steady at about 40%. Overall, religious attendance declined slightly since the pandemic. In 2019, 33% of adults said they attended religious services at least monthly. That number is down to 30% now. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “Let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Thursday, April 6th in the year of our Lord 2023. On this special midweek's edition, anchors national trial attorney Michael Popok and former top Manhattan DA prosecutor Karen Friedman Agnifilo discuss: 1. The Trump arraignment and what we learned from the “statement of facts” that accompanied the 34 count felony indictment, and the next steps by the defense team and the prosecution; 2. Trump losing again against Jack Smith's prosecutors before the DC Court of Appeals who has ruled that Mark Meadows, Dan Scavino, Stephen Miller and Trump's entire national security team has to testify against him without any executive privilege, and Mike Pence getting ready for his grand jury testimony too; and 3. Liberals not right wing extremists now being in the majority of the Wisconsin Supreme Court and what that means for voting rights and women's rights in Wisconsin and nationally, and so much more. Will the Wisconsin Supreme Court election serve as a wake-up call for conservatives to actually focus on substance? Today, I offer the vision on policy and messaging that few other show hosts are willing to discuss because they are so paralyzed by the soap opera of Trump. I also explain how the abortion issue is hurting us, but only because of the imbalanced approach of a party that fails to lead on any other issue. Also, Trump will continue to screw us over with RINO endorsements, because red-state RINOs know they can kiss up to Trump while betraying his base and still secure an endorsement. Finally, we have a leverage point coming up that will allow us to destroy biomedical fascism, if only we had a movement focused on it. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

We also speak on the horrid situation going on with the Wisconsin Supreme Court and why patriots across the country should care about it.Our guest today is Charlie Hurt, Opinion Editor and a columnist for The Washington Times. Ricochet.com Editor-in-Chief Jon Gabriel is in for Jim today. Join Jon and Greg as they welcome the news that a Democrat in the North Carolina House of Representatives is planning to switch to the GOP. The move would give Republicans a veto-proof majority in both chambers of the legislature and allow them to bypass the Democratic governor's opposition to school choice and more. They also shudder at two big wins for far left candidates on Tuesday, both in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race and in the Chicago mayor's contest. Finally, they observe legal analysts across the political spectrum suggesting Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has a very weak case against Donald Trump. Please visit our great sponsors:4Patriothttps://4Patriots.comUse code MARTINI to get 10% off your first purchase of 4Patriots Survival Food.

Just hours after being arraigned in a Manhattan court, former President Donald Trump gave a 21-minute speech to his supporters at Mar-a-Lago. He gave the speech in the same room in which he declared his 2024 presidential campaign. He began his speech by going after DA Alvin Bragg and saying he “never thought anything like this could happen in America.” Rachel Maddow told viewers the network would monitor the speech for any actual news, but otherwise, Trump wouldn't be given a free pass to vent unfiltered on MSNBC. A new poll from Fox News has revealed that Biden's approval rating among several key voting groups has reached new lows. A George Soros-backed liberal Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate, Janet Protasiewicz, soundly defeated conservative-backed candidate Dan Kelly on Tuesday in a race that was crucial to the ideological balance of the court. Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson was declared Chicago's new mayor after defeating fellow candidate Paul Vallas, who had the backing of Chicago's police union, by around 13,000 votes. A Canadian politician proposed legislation yesterday that would criminalize “offensive remarks” made within 100 meters of drag performances. Former President Donald Trump will arraigned on criminal charges at the Manhattan Criminal Court. Could this indictment affect Trump's presidential bid and political future? And Wisconsin voters are deciding on who they want to control the state Supreme Court.
The Wall Street Journal has coverage tracking the history of the hush-money payment to Stormy Daniels and the lead-up to Trump’s indictment and appearance in court today. NPR explains why today’s Wisconsin Supreme Court race matters nationally. CBS Sports has everything to know about UConn’s dominant run to a fifth men’s NCAA title. Meanwhile, ESPN reports on how the women’s championship game drew a record TV audience. The New Yorker tells us why the animal kingdom is full of con artists.
Years of gerrymandering and campaign-finance deregulation in Wisconsin have made the state a "democracy desert." An election for control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court will have broad implications for abortion access within the key swing state and the course of democracy beyond it. Dan Kaufman, journalist and author of The Fall of Wisconsin: The Conservative Conquest of a Progressive Bastion and the Future of American Politics (W. W. Norton & Company, 2018) tells us what's at stake.
Two Democrats with different governing philosophies square off for mayor of Chicago, with crime at the top of voter concerns, and a contest for a swing seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court could have national implications. Plus, the world is becoming more dangerous for journalists as Russia arrests The Wall Street Journal's Evan Gershkovich on a false accusation of espionage. Learn more about your ad choices. Brad and Dan begin with first reactions to the late breaking news that Donald Trump will be indicted next week. They discuss the details of the case, the reactions from the GOP, and what the future might hold. They then turn their attention to Nashville, where the community continues to mourn the victims of the mass shooting at a private school. Dan discusses the numbness that lawmakers and everyday Americans feel in the context of ubiquituous gun violence. Brad links the unwillingness to address the problem to Christian nationalist's understanding of order, violence, and the need to have the power to put "others" in line. In the second segment, Brad outlines the high stakes of the Wisconsin Supreme Court election - and how it will effect abortion rights, voting rights, and the viability of free and fair elections in the state - and beyond. In the final segment, Dan breaks down the new law in Kentucky that bans gender affirming care. Trump employs a last-ditch strategy to get out of his impending indictments. Brian interviews the liberal candidate for the Wisconsin Supreme Court election, Janet Protasiewicz, about what's at stake in this upcoming race as far as abortion and fair maps are concerned. And former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner joins to discuss when we can expect the indictment against Trump to be handed down in the Manhattan DA case, and whether he's hurt his own cause with his continuous threats of violence.Donate to the "Don't Be A Mitch" fund: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/dontbeamitchShop merch: https://briantylercohen.com/shopYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/briantylercohenTwitter: https://twitter.com/briantylercohenFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/briantylercohenInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/briantylercohenPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/briantylercohenNewsletter: https://www.briantylercohen.com/sign-upWritten by Brian Tyler CohenProduced by Sam GraberRecorded in Los Angeles, CASee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
