Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 is halfway over, and while it is not universally hailed as the best modern Trek show, it certainly has a preponderance of fans proclaiming it as such. The latest episode takes Spock where he's never gone before when an alien race “fixes” him by removing the genetic markers that make him half-Vulcan, thereby rendering him completely human. Such a light-hearted episode deserves an experienced comedy director. That director is Jordan Canning, and I had the opportunity to sit down with her for a brief chat. If you like this interview, check out our YouTube channel where, in the latest edition, I talk to Benji Bakshi, one of three cinematographers responsible for bringing the locations of Strange New Worlds to life. It's the latest installment of Fraggle Talk: The Unofficial Fraggle Rock Podcast! In this episode, we're talking about the Giggle Gaggle Games, the narcoleptic Craggles, and the incomparable Barry Blueberry! Our very special guest is director Jordan Canning, who oversaw several episodes of Back to the Rock including this one. So naturally, she's the perfect person to take us step-by-step through the Fraggles' version of the Olympics. Enjoy!
Writer/director Jordan Canning (Schitt's Creek, Fraggle Rock, Baroness von Sketch, We Were Wolves) joins me this week to talk about Robert Zemeckis and Diane Thomas's 1984 adventure comedy Romancing the Stone. Kathleen Turner stars as the romance novelist turned reluctant adventurer Joan Wilder. Along with the pits and pratfalls that Joan deals with while trying to save her sister in Cartagena, Colombia, we get into the pits and pratfalls of filmmaking itself.
The Rock to Fraggle Rock, we chat with director Jordan Canning about making the series reboot.

It'd be easy to look at the title of episode 10, "Disaster Arises," and get worried, but lucky for us, we've got the Twin Teens of Grant High, Juergen' It's Sam and Jordan Canning, here to help us. Turns out there's actually zero difference between this week's episode and The Simpsons S08 E159 "A Milhouse Divided" (1996), except maybe that this one is brought to you by Fortnite. Canadian Director Jordan Canning discusses creative guilt, shooting on film versus digital, little achievable bites of work in a day, and getting started on shorts to create a tone on set as a director. In her new film, 'Suck It Up,' she takes on an emotional story with an energized, all-female cast.
