Our coach training equips us with incredibly helpful tools, concepts and approaches, and client work provides the real-world experience of supporting actual humans, most professional coaches find that there is still something missing. And no I don't mean a business coach! We need a different third thing - a learning space that helps us to make sense of everything. Where we can reflect on our relationship with very specific, three-dimensional, paying clients (not theoretical avatars or other trainee coaches).Where we can feel supported and frankly, less lonely in this work (it's super tricky when we work from the kitchen table or the spare room!)And we usually need other resources and choices for supporting clients more effectively (because none of us know what we don't know). As the coaching industry matures, being in Supervision is now recognised as the standard for coaching excellence. And having been in Supervision for a decade, I honestly don't know how any coach does this work without it. I'm delighted to welcome Kris Shepard back to the podcast to chat more about Supervision - Kris is a Life Coach and Supervisor who helps coaches show up authentically with their clients and masterfully hone their unique coaching style. In this episode, we talk through the ins and outs of coaching supervision, and why it should be the first point of call for coaches who are figuring out this beautiful, helpful work. Performer Stories — Fascinating Stories from Top Entertainers
This week's storytellers are Kris Sheppard, Graeme "Graemazing" Reed, Ryan Kane, Ran'D Shine, Joe Diamond, and Mario the Maker Magician. In this episode you'll hear stories that share themes of coincidences, lost connections, and for Valentine's Day, surprising romances. You'll hear three short stories about coincidences involving magicians and restaurants, a lost connection during a virtual show, a mysterious romantic encounter after a show, and how one magician met a woman he didn't realize would become his wife when they met again in the future. The first storyteller is me, your host! I'm Kris Sheppard, a close up magician soon to be based out of Orlando, FL. I specialize in connecting with my audiences on a personal level which in turn helps my clients form better connections with their customers. Here's my story about a funny coincidence surrounding another local magician, that I had never met but only heard of. The second story comes from Graeme "Graemazing" Reed. a "Level 7 Wizard" who lately has been doing a ton of virtual shows. He's also co host to the Magicians Talking Magic podcast. Here he is telling about a coincidence centered around the restaurant he performers at, his neighbors, and walking his dog around his home. The next story comes from Ryan Kane, a corporate magician, comedian, and author based in the San Francisco Bay area. Ryan talks about the time him and a fellow magician both arrived at the same restaurant at the same time to perform magic. Ran'D Shine tells the next story. Ran'D is the face of the new millennium magician who's magic has taken him around the world from Cape Town South Africa performing his one-man show, "Mysterious Ways," to Presidential Inauguration banquets at the White House. Listen to Ran'D tell about that dreaded lost connection during a virtual show! The penultimate story is told by Joe Diamond, a mystery performer based around Chicago, IL. Whether he's reading minds, interpreting dreams, or driving blindfolded for publicity, he's always up to something strange. In his story, he talks about a mysterious romantic encounter he had after a show. The final story comes from Mario the Maker Magician! His zaney family magic and hand built robotics have have garnered him an appearance on Sesame Street and a residency with Maker Magazine doing a fun digital live show for families. In his story, he talks about meeting a woman he didn't realize would become his wife when they met again in the future. Here's where you can find out more about this week's storytellers. In this episode you'll hear about a failed magic prop, and problems that liquids can bring to performances. The first and second stories are from actor Christopher Alton talking first about a magic prop that failed live on stage and then about how he accidentally spilled a large number of drinks onto a big name guest that he was to interview as a radio host. The third story is more of a discussion between myself and Graeme "Graemazing" Reed, a magician out of Canada, about what can go wrong when you perform with and around liquids. This week: Hacking Disneyland With Go Mouse Scouts founders Megan and Kris Sheppard I first met Kris Sheppard on Facebook after I became a regular podcaster in the Disney podcasting community. Of course, I knew who they were long before they ever knew about me. I had been listening to the Go Mouse Scouts Podcast for quite some time and today I am honored to consider these two my friends. This discussion is one of the reasons I started The Disney Hack. The ability to connect with and learn from Super Fans about how they manage to maximize the MAGIC and FUN while saving the most TIME and MONEY while on a Disney parks trip with kids. Kris and Megan are MASTERS at this as they have been going to Disneyland for years and often talk about their trips often on their show. I have learned a lot from them and I asked them to share their best hacks when planning a trip to the happiest place on earth. They even shared some of their best tips from their new book: 2017 Guide to Visiting Disneyland With Young Kids (and still having a great time!)
