To savā laikā sapratis gan Rainis, gan arī Klāvs Elsbergs, kurš labprāt piedalījies sporta spēlēs, gan Dzintars Sodums un vēl citi šīs telpas varoņi. Jā, viens no atkalsatikšanās objektiem šeit ir Rainis, kurš bijis visai daudzpusīga persona – piemēram, Rainis gan rakstījis dzeju, gan lugas, bet pastaigu laikā vācis arī herbāriju, kura paraugi redzami ekspozīcijā. Nav nekāds noslēpums, ka viena no Rainim būtiskām ikdienas lietām bijusi vingrošana un saules peldes, tātad rūpes par savu fizisko ķermeni. Atsauces uz to sajūtamas pat Raiņa dzejā, piemēram, rindas “sasmēlies es esmu saules” varbūt ir uztverams ne tikai simboliskā aspektā, bet arī pavisam tieši. Rainis fizisku slodzi uzskatījis par neatņemamu savas dzīves sastāvdaļu. Nu, ja ņemam vērā Raiņa ideju, ka viņš dzīvos līdz 300 gadu vecumam, tad, protams, tas nekādus jautājumus uzdot neliek. Fiziska aktivitāte, tātad kustība, Rainim simbolizē dzīvību, dzīvesprieku un radošās spējas. Fiziskās intensitātes zudums ir pazīme tam, ka kaut kas nelāgs ir noticis, spēki ir zuduši gan radošā, gan fiziskā aspektā. Arī dienasgrāmatā viņš ar šausmām raksta: “Maz guļu. Ceļos 10, nemazgājos, nevingroju. Rakstu šo diengrāmatu. Guļu pēc brokasta līdz 2. Izlasu Mediņa rakstu par daiļradīšanu. Pusdiena. Pārbrauc Īda. Atkal guļu, pārdomāju par līdzekļiem, kas rokās, un par darāmiem darbiem pārrunāju ar In. No rītus jau gultā arī runājām.” Vingrošanas iztrūkums liecina par īpašu pagurumu. Bieži Rainis uzsver sliktu veselību un rakstīšanu kā smagu darbu, kas ļoti nogurdinājis. Brīžiem pat kosmiski, piemēram, “1917. gada 25. jūlijā salauzu vingrojot muguru. Atlabstu.” Skaidrs, ka muguru gan jau Rainis nesalauza. Bet varam redzēt, cik intensīvi un ar kādu nopietnību Rainis pievērsies savas fiziskās veselības, kas tāda novestu pie jaunības saglabāšanas jautājumiem. Ir jau viņš arī mazliet vai – stipri – hipohondrisks, bet saules peldes un vingrošana gan jau nāca par labu arī šai vainai. Raini vingrojot būs iespēja redzēt ekspozīcijā. Vēl viens mūsu varonis, kam patika sports un fiziskas kustības ir Leons Briedis. Viņam tas cieši saistīts ar radošā procesu. Dzejniece Vizma Belševica savulaik esot teikusi, ka dzejoli neraksta tikai ar roku, ar zīmuli, uz rakstāmmašīnas un tagad uz datora, bet raksta ar visu ķermeni. Tāpēc dzejniekam jābūt ne tikai labā garīgā formā, bet arī fiziskā – tā uzskata Leons Briedis, kurš nepiederot pie tiem autoriem, kuri sēž pie galda vai kādā noteiktā vietā un cenšas kaut ko uzrakstīt, bet nekas nesanāk. Leonam Briedim patīk atrasties garīgā un fiziskā kustībā, nevis palikt uz vietas. Tāpēc arī lielākā daļa dzejoļu netop pie rakstāmgalda, bet staigājot, kaut kur braucot pa pasauli, iepazīstot citu tautu kultūru, dzeju, esot starp cilvēkiem. Briedis ir sacījis: “Labprāt dzīvotu un neizkustētos no vietas kā tāds laukakmens, bet nesanāk. Tas neatbilst manam temperamentam un raksturam. Taču izšķērdēt sevi tā kā jaunībā arī nevar, vajadzīga savrupība, zināms miers, skanīgās vientulības mirklis.” Savukārt Klāvs Elsbergs labprāt savam priekam spēlēja basketbolu, apmeklējis dažādus pasākumus, kino, braucis ceļojumus. Tiesa, pēc bērnu piedzimšanas šādas iespējas kļuva mazāk, bet pilnībā dzejnieks no fiziskajām aktivitātēm nekad nav atteicies. Atturīgāka fiziskās lietas kopošanā ir jau minētā Vizma Belševica, kurai paticis spēlēt zolīti, bet ekspozīcijā redzēsiet arī fotoliecības ar Belševicu, izpildām soda metienu Mākslas dienu basketbola turnīrā 1981. gada 18. aprīlī. Bet dzejnieks Andris Akmentiņš kā tas redzams arī ekspozīcijā, iecienījis gan makšķerēšanu, viņš piedalījies mušiņmakškerēšanas čempionātā. Kādu laiku strādājis par zivju inspektoru. Ekspozīcijai autors arī dāvinājis savus makšķerēšanas piederumus – mušiņas. Tāpat futbols ar bērniem pusstundu dienā rakstniekam ir vajadzīgs priekš asinsrites. Basketbolu spēlējis savulaik arī rakstnieks Dzintars Sodums, kurš sacījis, ka "Vakar atkal sāku spēlēt basketu. Viss ir tikai līdzekļi darbam." Noslēgumā jāsaka, ka sensenais teiciens veselā miesā vesels gars ir svarīgs radošo personu akcents, kas ļauj līdzsvarot tomēr visai statisko nodarbi rakstīšanu ar aktivitātēm, kas cikliskā aplī noved pie jaunām radošām domām.

Nel medesimo istante Pietro, giovane destinato a una brillante carriera politica, entra in carcere. Ripercorrendo a ritroso le tappe che hanno portato a questi luttuosi destini, conosciamo a Roma la prima Caterina, giornalista affermata che viene travolta da uno scandalo e madre coraggiosa di un sedicenne con gravi problemi psichici. E a Genova la seconda Caterina, ragazza fragile che passa da un lavoretto all'altro nel tentativo di non soccombere alle problematiche famigliari. Conosciamo i loro genitori, le comuni origini a Follero. È qui che, nel 1969, l'agguerrita Beatrice e i fratelli Antonio e Francesco Rambaldi convincono i paesani a demolire l'antica chiesa di Santa Croce. Pagano caro il successo: per superstizione o per giochi di potere, i folleresi finiscono per esiliarli. Ma dietro tutto questo alberga forse un antico anatema scagliato contro alcune famiglie del paese in un passato oscuro e oramai dimenticato che, pian piano, emergerà fino all'epilogo finale.Roberta PoggioNasce a Genova nel 1974 e oggi vive a Torino. Each one I find reminds me of a small, battered transistor radio from my youth. It belonged to my father, and before that, probably my grandfather. The leather case was cracked, the antenna wobbled, and the dial drifted if you breathed on it wrong. But when I was sixteen, sprawled across my bedroom floor in that small town near Florence with homework scattered around me, this little machine was my portal to everything that mattered.Late at night, I'd start by chasing the latest hits and local shows on FM, but then I'd venture into the real adventure—tuning through the static on AM and shortwave frequencies. Voices would emerge from the electromagnetic soup—music from London, news from distant capitals, conversations in languages I couldn't understand but somehow felt. That radio gave me something I didn't even know I was missing: the profound sense of belonging to a world much bigger than my neighborhood, bigger than my small corner of Tuscany.What I didn't realize then—what I'm only now beginning to understand—is that I was holding the first smartphone in human history.Not literally, of course. But functionally? Sociologically? That transistor radio was the prototype for everything that followed: the first truly personal media device that rewired how young people related to the world, to each other, and to the adults trying to control both.But to understand why the transistor radio was so revolutionary, we need to trace radio's remarkable journey through the landscape of human communication—a journey that reveals patterns we're still living through today.When Radio Was the Family HearthBefore my little portable companion, radio was something entirely different. In the 1930s, radio was furniture—massive, wooden, commanding the living room like a shrine to shared experience. Families spent more than four hours a day listening together, with radio ownership reaching nearly 90 percent by 1940. From American theaters that wouldn't open until after "Amos 'n Andy" to British families gathered around their wireless sets, from RAI broadcasts bringing opera into Tuscan homes—entire communities synchronized their lives around these electromagnetic rituals.Radio didn't emerge in a media vacuum, though. It had to find its place alongside the dominant information medium of the era: newspapers. The relationship began as an unlikely alliance. In the early 1920s, newspapers weren't threatened by radio—they were actually radio's primary boosters, creating tie-ins with broadcasts and even owning stations. Detroit's WWJ was owned by The Detroit News, initially seen as "simply another press-supported community service."But then came the "Press-Radio War" of 1933-1935, one of the first great media conflicts of the modern age. Newspapers objected when radio began interrupting programs with breaking news, arguing that instant news delivery would diminish paper sales. The 1933 Biltmore Agreement tried to restrict radio to just two five-minute newscasts daily—an early attempt at what we might now recognize as media platform regulation.Sound familiar? The same tensions we see today between traditional media and digital platforms, between established gatekeepers and disruptive technologies, were playing out nearly a century ago. Rather than one medium destroying the other, they found ways to coexist and evolve—a pattern that would repeat again and again.By the mid-1950s, when the transistor was perfected, radio was ready for its next transformation.The Real Revolution Was Social, Not TechnicalThis is where my story begins, but it's also where radio's story reaches its most profound transformation. The transistor radio didn't just make radio portable—it fundamentally altered the social dynamics of media consumption and youth culture itself.Remember, radio had spent its first three decades as a communal experience. Parents controlled what the family heard and when. But transistor radios shattered this control structure completely, arriving at precisely the right cultural moment. The post-WWII baby boom had created an unprecedented youth population with disposable income, and rock and roll was exploding into mainstream culture—music that adults often disapproved of, music that spoke directly to teenage rebellion and independence.For the first time in human history, young people had private, personal access to media. They could take their music to bedrooms, to beaches, anywhere adults weren't monitoring. They could tune into stations playing Chuck Berry, Elvis, and Little Richard without parental oversight—and in many parts of Europe, they could discover the rebellious thrill of pirate radio stations broadcasting rock and roll from ships anchored just outside territorial waters, defying government regulations and cultural gatekeepers alike. The transistor radio became the soundtrack of teenage autonomy, the device that let youth culture define itself on its own terms.The timing created a perfect storm: pocket-sized technology collided with a new musical rebellion, creating the first "personal media bubble" in human history—and the first generation to grow up with truly private access to the cultural forces shaping their identity.The parallels to today's smartphone revolution are impossible to ignore. Both devices delivered the same fundamental promise: the ability to carry your entire media universe with you, to access information and entertainment on your terms, to connect with communities beyond your immediate physical environment.But there's something we've lost in translation from analog to digital. My generation with transistor radios had to work for connection. We had to hunt through static, tune carefully, wait patiently for distant signals to emerge from electromagnetic chaos. We learned to listen—really listen—because finding something worthwhile required skill, patience, and analog intuition.This wasn't inconvenience; it was meaning-making. The harder you worked to find something, the more it mattered when you found it. The more skilled you became at navigating radio's complex landscape, the richer your discoveries became.What the Transistor Radio Taught Us About TomorrowRadio's evolution illustrates a crucial principle that applies directly to our current digital transformation: technologies don't replace each other—they find new ways to matter. Printing presses didn't become obsolete when radio arrived. Radio adapted when television emerged. Today, radio lives on in podcasts, streaming services, internet radio—the format transformed, but the essential human need it serves persists.When I was sixteen, lying on that bedroom floor with my father's radio pressed to my ear, I was doing exactly what teenagers do today with their smartphones: using technology to construct identity, to explore possibilities, to imagine myself into larger narratives.The medium has changed; the human impulse remains constant. L'ultima tragedia dell'emigrazione italiana, arricchita da un'introduzione che interroga le coscienze: Italia e Svizzera sono state all'altezza della storia?Il volume ricostruisce con precisione e profondità l'intera vicenda: dalle testimonianze dei sopravvissuti alle inchieste e ai processi che si conclusero con l'assoluzione degli imputati e la beffa delle spese processuali a carico dei familiari delle vittime. Una storia che segna il punto di non ritorno nella memoria dell'emigrazione italiana, e che troppo a lungo è rimasta nell'ombra.In occasione dell'anniversario, la Rai trasmetterà sabato 30 agosto, alle 23:35, un documentario ispirato al libro, riportando al centro dell'attenzione pubblica un evento che tocca la dignità del lavoro e il sacrificio di migliaia di emigrati.A Mattmark non ci si fermava mai, si lavorava giorno e notte per costruire un'imponente diga capace di produrre l'energia necessaria a un paese, la Svizzera, che stava vivendo una crescita economica senza precedenti. Nel cantiere lavoravano più di mille persone, in maggioranza straniere e provenienti soprattutto dalla provincia italiana. La «piccola» Svizzera accoglieva da sola quasi il 50 per cento dell'intero flusso migratorio italiano, dando occupazione a operai impegnati in grandi opere, come la diga di Mattmark. Ma il 30 agosto 1965, in pochi secondi, accadde l'irreparabile: «Niente rumore. Solo, un vento terribile e i miei compagni volavano come farfalle. Poi ci fu un gran boato, e la fine. Autocarri e bulldozer scaraventati lontano». A parlare è uno dei sopravvissuti intervistati nel libro, uno dei testimoni della valanga di più di 2 milioni di metri cubi di ghiaccio che seppellì 88 lavoratori. Di questi, 56 erano italiani. Come a Marcinelle, la tragedia rappresentò una cesura nella lunga e travagliata storia dell'emigrazione italiana, segnando un punto di non ritorno. Inoltre, suscitò molto scalpore in tutta Europa: per la prima volta, stranieri e svizzeri morivano l'uno a fianco all'altro. Nei giorni successivi si scavò senza sosta con la speranza di trovare ancora vivi amici, padri, fratelli, figli. Ci vollero quasi due anni per recuperare i resti dell'ultima salma. Questa storia si concluse nel modo peggiore: i tempi dell'inchiesta furono lunghissimi, oltre sei anni, e i diciassette imputati chiamati a rispondere dell'accusa di omicidio colposo furono tutti assolti, nonostante l'instabilità del ghiacciaio fosse nota da secoli. In appello andò anche peggio, con la conferma dell'assoluzione e la condanna dei familiari delle vittime al pagamento delle spese processuali. A sessant'anni di distanza, come scrive Toni Ricciardi nell'introduzione a questa nuova edizione, se Mattmark non è più una «Marcinelle dimenticata», resta ancora un interrogativo: l'Italia e anche la stessa Svizzera sono state all'altezza della storia?Toni Ricciardi è storico delle migrazioni presso l'Università di Ginevra, l'Istituto di Storia dell'Europa mediterranea (Isem-Cnr) e deputato della XIX legislatura. 「曖昧母音が分からない、音声変化や脱落が聞き取れない」これらは全て「英語のリズム」を理解することで解決できます！トピック紹介皆さんこんにちは、発音ディレクターDr. Dです。英語の発音には日本語には存在しない様々な要素が含まれます。例えば、短く曖昧に発音される母音（曖昧母音）、音がつながるときに起こる音声変化、また音が脱落するリダクションなど。これらが原因でネイティブの発音が聞き取れないことが多いわけです。今回はこれらを全て「英語のリズム」を理解することによって解決していきたいと思います。発音記号通りに発音しない英語英語はスペルや、また発音記号通りに発音されないことが多々あります。これはフレーズ全体を滑らかにつないで発音するために、音を変化させているからです。例えば次の様なケースがあります。・母音の曖昧化（曖昧母音）He is at school/heez ut skool/Classify/kla suh fai/・単語同士をつなぐ（リンキング）Take away/tei kuh wei/Take that/tei(k) tha(t)/・Tの変化（音声変化）Get it on/ge di daan/I want to do/uh wah nuh doo/・音が脱落する（リダクション）One of those people is…/wuh nuh thouz/Probably/Praab li/こういった音の変化が起こり、しかも速く発音されると日本人にとってはなかなか簡単に聞き取ることはできません。なので、あらかじめこういった発音の変化を知って、自分でも発音できる様にしておくことで徐々にパターンが読める様になり、聞き取れる様になってきます。そのためにはまず、英語のリズムを先に理解しておくことで、これら音の変化のパターンを全て包括的に理解することができます。英語はリズムで話す言語まず第一に知っておかなければならないこと。英語は “Stress-Timed Language”と呼ばれており、これは「ストレスで拍をとる言語」だということです。拍というのはリズムの単位のことです。簡単にいうと、「タン・タン・タン」とリズムをとると、それは３拍ということになります。「I'm coming right away」と発音すると、３拍で発音したことになります。これが拍です。手拍子は手で拍を取る動作です。英語はストレスと呼ばれる強調する音節を、この「拍」で捉えます。「I'm coming right away」というフレーズだと「com, right, way」の部分がストレスとなります。ストレスは意味が強い言葉に置かれ、単語の中のストレスの位置は決まっています。例えば、awayは /uh wei/ と２音節で発音されますが、/wei/ の音節がストレスです。このようにストレスでリズムをとるように発音すると、強い音と弱い音が交互に発音される感じになり、フレーズで発音した時に「リズミカルな発音」が生まれるわけです。Where are you?/wer AR yuh/I'm coming right away./um KUH min RAI da WEI/I'll be there in a minute./ul BEE ther na MI nut/母音の曖昧化英語を発音する時は、ストレスで声を張ったら脱力して、声を張ったら脱力しての繰り返しです。HAH ha HAH ha HAHこの「ha」の弱い音が曖昧母音になります。I'm coming right away./um KUH min RAI da WEI/ストレスが置かれない音節が曖昧化する感じです。この母音は特定の母音の音とかではなく、ただの脱力した声です。曖昧母音のエクササイズこの曖昧母音を出す感覚を、リズムで発音することで感じとってみましょう。同じ母音を強弱で発音して「はっきりした母音」と「曖昧な母音」を交互に発音します。ルール１、全体を一息で発音ルール２、脱力しながら弱音へ向かう(1) TAH ka TAH ka TAH kaTalk about itI'd like to talk about it.(2) BAH ta BAH ta BAH taI bought itI bought a lot of bottles.どうですか？母音が曖昧化するネイティブの発音感覚が少し分かりましたか？単語同士をつなぐリンキングリンキングに関しても英語のリズムが深く関わっています。例えば「Take it out」と発音する時も、全体を一息で「Take(強) it(弱) out(強)」のように強弱のリズムで発音します。このように発音すると自然と音がリンクしませんか？Take it out/TEI kih DAU(t)/これをカタカナ発音で発音すると「Take(強) it(強) out(強)」となってしまい抑揚がなくなってしまいます。Tの変化（音声変化）そして滑らかな抑揚を描くために、引っかかりやすい音を軽く濁らせて発音することがあります。これの代表的なのがFlap Tと呼ばれる「Tの変化」です。「Take it out」と発音する時、it の /t/ が弱い /d/ の音に変化しています。そうすることで滑らかに音をつないでいるわけです。この時に舌の位置は /t/ のままですが、少し弱く濁らせて発音しています。リンキングのエクササイズこの音声変化には色んなパターンがありますが、感覚は全て同じで、流れを出来るだけ止めないように、弱く濁らせて発音した結果、少し音が変化しています。(1) Get it/GE dih/Get it out of your mind/GE di DAU duv yer MAIND/(2) Wanted/WAH neh/I wanted to do that/uh WAH ne duh DOO thut/音が脱落する（リダクション）さらに英語は音が変化するだけでなく、そもそも脱落してしまう発音もあります。これがリダクションと呼ばれる現象です。One of those people/WUH na thouz/** of の /f/ が脱落している **Probably/PRAAB li/** 連続する /b/ が1つになっている **結局、これも英語のリズムなんです。ストレスが置かれる音節で拍をとり、それ以外の部分はスムーズに流れるように、少し省略されているに過ぎません。リダクションのエクササイズストレス音節に挟まれた、弱い発音が省略される感覚を感じてみましょう。(1) How's it going?/HAU zi GOU in/** it の /t/, または it そのものが省略されている **(2) I'm going to go grab some food before we get going./uh ma na gou/** going の /g/ が直前の m に吸収されている **(3) Where did you get that?/WER ju GEH/** did you が同化して /ju/ になっている **(4) I want to catch them right away./uh wa na KYAch em/** them の /th/ が脱落している **まとめというわけで今回は日本人にとって英語の聞き取りにくい要素となる、母音の曖昧化、リンキングや音声変化、音の脱落などの例を取り上げました。これらは結局ストレスを置いてリズミカルに発音した場合、自然とそのようになるといった感覚なんですね。どれだけ省略しても、ストレスがしっかりとリズムの軸となり発音されているから通じ合えているわけです。日本語は全ての音節を平坦に発音する言語なので、このストレスを置いてリズミカルに発音する感覚を得ることはそう簡単ではないかも知れません。しかし、こういった仕組みを理解して発音練習を２、３ヶ月も繰り返していけば、きっと感覚が掴めてくるはずです。そしてこの感覚が分かるとネイティブ発音がより鮮明に聞こえる様になります。そうすると動画を真似るコピーイングやシャドーイングの練習がちゃんとできる様になります。もし、自分ではどうしようもなければ、ドクターDイングリッシュでトレーナーをつけて少しの間やってみてください。きっとブレイクスルーできるはずです。応援していますので頑張って！それではまた来週お会いしましょう！

In this context he works on Artificial Intelligence, health, trade, and migration.
