Nachdem ich bereits Killer is Dead oder Lollypop Chainsaw gespielt habe und bis heute sehr begeistert bin, war ich neugierig, was das erste Spiel von Grasshopper Manufacture auf dem Kasten hat. Würde es genauso abgedreht sein, wie seine bekannteren Titel? Zuerst war ich schon bei dem Genre etwas skeptisch, denn bislang konnte ich Suda51 nicht zusammen mit Visual Novels bringen. Und bereits nach den ersten 5 Minuten hätte ich mir gewünscht, es auch dabei belassen zu haben. Dabei ist die visuelle Umsetzung mit einem mix aus CGI, Anime-Sequenzen, Zeichnungen und Live Action sehr interessant und auch immer wieder gut für grotesque Szenarien, aber was Spielmechanik und Storytelling angeht, hat es seine Schwächen. Vor allem bei ersterem wollte ich manchmal schon aufgeben. Neben den Dialogen und der Story gibt es Stellen, wo der Charakter sich fortbewegen kann und auch in der Lage ist mit seiner Umgebung zu interagieren. Jedoch sind die teilweise philosophisch ausufernden Gespräche im Vordergrund und man kann nur selten den "Adventure"-Part übernehmen. Dabei ist die Story um die mysteriösen Morde gar nicht so schlecht und wird aus 2 verschiedenen Perspektiven erzähl, die eines Detectives und eines Journalisten. Hier erkennt man auch ganz klar die Handschrift von Suda51, denn die Story birgt ein paar coole Twists und generell hat der Plot etwas makabres an sich. Dennoch finde ich das Spiel bei Weitem nicht mehr zeitgemäß und stellenweise mit den sehr penetranten Soundeffekten und der in die Länge gezogenen Story auch eher nervig und ermüdend. Immerhin ist das Konzept schon 18 Jahre alt und heute nicht mehr zeitgemäß, daher kann man nicht wirklich objektiv sein an dieser Stelle. Wer Fan von makabren Storys, Visual Novels und Nostalgie-Spielen ist, der sollte dem Spiel eine Chance geben. Aber ich für meinen Teil würde es persönlich nicht jedem nahelegen.

Hey, we got a full house this week. After a week with only two of three hosts, it's nice to have everyone back in their assigned seats and ready for some book-learnin'. Nick Dinicola, Holy Goalie and Edie Sellers are thwarted slightly by the lack of gaming news, so this show has that lazy summer feel. They do end up finding a suprising amount to chat up, though, including: It l: Suda 51's Lollypop Chainsaw. Bioware says that despite all the critical acclaim, Fem Shep as you might think. NPD says Shadows of the Damned and Child of Eden , but LA Noire and Duke Nukem Forever did. We revive Random Shit, because let's face it, this week is pretty random.
