2025 re-run bonus notes: This episode is the third in a trilogy of music blocks (parts 1 and 2 were our January and February reruns). Long time listeners may already know what this trilogy is all about, but for those who don't and have been following the reruns, the introduction to this episode finally explains what the trilogy is all about. So, the fun [for me] question: of the three music blocks in the trilogy, which did you like best (and why), which did you like least (and why), and do you or do you not think I made the right decision bumping "music block A" for "music block B" in C1E41? Let me know at nerd.noise.radio@gmail.com, or by any social media outlet on which we exist. I will genuinely be curious to know what you think. Even to this day in 2025, I *STILL* don't know what to think, personally! DISCLAIMER: the production value was worse in 2022 when the intro and outro were produced, and substantially worse in 2018 when the music block was produced. So if this is your first time hearing Nerd Noise Radio, please keep in mind that our production values have much improved in the time since. ----------------------------- Original (2022) Show Notes ----------------------------- Today's broadcast is C1E69 for Mishmash Monday, November 7th, 2022. Intro / Outro / Final Production produced using Ardour 6 / Audacity 3 in Ubuntu Studio [Linux] 22.04 09/08/2022. Music Block produced in GarageBand in macOS 10/19/2018. IMPORTANT NOTE: The tools and techniques I used back in 2018 in producing the music block were NOT up to my current standards – including featuring less sophisticated fades, more imprecise volume level balancing, less developed track run-order sorting, and even my having used MP3s rather than WAVs in the source production, resulting in a lower-fidelity final product, and further limiting my ability to touch it up after the fact. As such, the production value of this episode will NOT be to par with our current "fresh episodes". But production values aside, the quality of the CONTENT itself, otherwise, I feel, is excellent, and well worth digging up to share with you.....I hope that you'll agree! :-) You can also find all of our audio episodes on Archive.org as well as the occasional additional release only available there, such as remixes of previous releases and other content. Sean has been playing LA Noire, a game that came out nearly 14 years ago but is new to him. He's tussling between believing suspects or accusing them of lies, and it's chaotic all around. But maybe it'll help him forget about how Texas played in the College Football Playoff semifinal.Speaking of chaos, the college football transfer portal is so silly. Players can leave before their bowl games, meaning the teams on the field might not be the actual players who were competing during the year. What kind of sense does that make?Follow Sports R Dumb on Instagram or give the show a rating or review on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or Goodpods. Thanks for listening!
Stick 'em up and then drop the gun! This week I'm covering my time with a smattering of crime simulator and police simulator games from various franchises or one off games, mostly brought to you by Rockstar Games. I haven't covered too many games before from these genres, but hopefully this episode can explain why. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/deleted-saves/support

What's up Gamers? This week is a bit weird with the audio, as Dean is only present for the Battle, Hacking the Game, and the Outro. That said, we wanted to tie in a battle to last week's review of Fallout Season 1, and thought who better than Fallout 4's Detective Nick Valentine? As a Synth Noir Detective, there was only 1 person we could put against him, and that is, of course, Detective Cole Phelps, from LA Noire! Which gumshoe had the gumption to out case the other? Best Seat on the Couch celebrates another milestone as we reach Episode 150, and like our 50th episode on Space Jam almost two and a half years ago, we're choosing another live action + animated mish-mash masterpiece, but this one is perhaps the most important of all! Who Framed Roger Rabbit, released in 1988, was an engineering and filmmaking marvel of its time, joining a classical LA Noire murder mystery film with every single cartoon you could think of - this film is still, to this day, the only film that's ever shown Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny on the screen at the same time, and that's awesome. Join us as we experience this movie, highlight our favorite moments and characters, and have a riveting conversation about pineapple on pizza. Content warning: SPOILERS, strong language.

Possibly Rockstar's most divisive open world experiment, 2011's hard-boiled noir film homage gets the once-over by your favorite creative investigation duo. But beneath the glossy paint and ground-breaking motion capture is this game actually fun? How does the storytelling hold up in the twelve years since this game's release? Does the game handle its problematic topics like race and gender inequality well? Would we want a sequel if they ever made one? Forget about it, Shipheads, it's Rockstar. In 1929, the son of oil magnate Edward Doheny was found dead beside his secretary in an apparent murder-suicide. The news exploded onto the papers for three days before the district attorney canceled the inquest and closed the case. When detectives decided there had been foul play, they were silenced, leaving everyone to wonder what truly went on that night at the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills.Sources:Columbia, David Patrick. “The Continuing Mystery of The Greystone Mansion Murders.” New York Social Diary. In our continuing "Movies That We Loved" series, Mike and Trevor will be discussing arguably one of the greatest film noirs of all time. Who are we arguing with? What are we arguing about? Why it's the 1997 Curtis Hanson crime drama masterpiece, LA Confidential, of course! Listen in for some backstory on the book, real life characters contained within the movie and some major differences between the book and the movie. Oh and we'll be giving our ratings if you care about that sort of thing.
Bob talks about the history game news from Ubisoft Forward, and then (19:15) chats with Esther Wright about her new book, Rockstar Games and American History: Promotional Materials and the Construction of Authenticity (https://www.degruyter.com/document/doi/10.1515/9783110716610/html). In this week's episode, we talked for about 20 minutes before realizing we weren't recording - woops. Our movie this week, the Gulliest of Ferns. We talk video games for a decent stretch, including epics such as LA Noire, and epic fails such as Red Alert 3. Adam brings us the past week in review for Cars & Bids, and a Reddit post by a user complaining about their $90,000+ Audi SQ7. AJ brings the crime-related car trivia. In the second half, if money were no question, we discuss our picks for: Offroad Daily Super car Track car Muscle car JDM Project car And we round out the episode with some more trivia - we try to guess old car's cost in today's money. And cars that were featured in movies and where they are today. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/brokecarsnobs/message
