Has Scott figured out what a “sweet” wine is yet? Will Jamie finally win our flavor notes game? Is a champagne cork the right stopper for your undead friend's flatulent butt? Only one way to find out, folks. SWISS ARMY MAN is written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Schienert. It is currently available streaming on Showtime and on VOD. We talk Italian Wine in this episode. In northwest Italy is the Piedmont region (Piemonte in Italian). The region is named after foot, “piè”, and mountain “monte” because the region is surrounded by the Alps. The region is very hilly with the Po River valley and home to some of the greatest wines in Italy. For wine lovers it is synonymous with Barolo and Barbaresco but there is other fantastic wines like Barbera, Dolcetto and, the relatively unknown varietal, Pelaverga. #ETDT #winelovers #italianwines
Kathryn and Tug open up an “allocated” bottle this week from a special producer they visited in Italy. They reminisce on their trip to Barolo in 2014 and a special afternoon with winemaker Fabio Alessandria of G.B. Burlotto. The couple discusses why wines from this producer are so unique and limited. What makes a wine hard to get? Who gets allocated wines and why? Tug talks about a series of concerts he has enjoyed in his mini “mid-life” crisis. Meanwhile, Kathryn is mostly thinking about puppies and @golden.mylokin Instagram. The Wine of the Week is the G.B. Burlotto, Verduno Pelaverga, Piemonte, Italy 2020.
