Marital "Turmoil?" Domestic Abuse Defined Join my guest, Rachel Peters, Domestic Abuse Advocate, as she discusses a topic that most do not want to hear about but may very well need to hear about. Perhaps you or someone you know has questions about whether a "troubled" marriage is actually an abusive marriage...come join Rachel as she speaks words of wisdom! Says Rachel... "This is just one of the resources I use in helping women identify abuse in their life. Not only does it give them language to describe their situation but it also helps them to see that what is happening to them is not right. All abuse is physical… but many times it doesn't leave visible bruises or broken bones. If you can identify with this, let's start building your team. Let's get you the help you need." Do you know someone who is living in an abusive relationship and needs someone to talk to? Are you yourself needing someone to believe you and support you as you wrestle with the things done to you? Are you scared to trust someone once again for fear of being judged and tossed aside like trash? Do you need someone to listen, encourage, believe and love you? Whatever your story, I'm here for you. I would love to meet up for lunch or coffee… my treat!
Today we're talking about something I'm not so great at - embodying my emotions. You'd think because I was a therapist and a yoga teacher, I'd get an A in this subject, but that's not the case. For a while, I've been telling myself that because I move on so quickly from difficult events or painful emotions, I must be a fast processor. That I was super skilled at digesting my emotions and moving on. Now, I'm not so sure. I think what I might be doing is intellectualizing, compartmentalizing, and minimizing my true feelings. And not fully embodying them. To help sort things out, I sat down with my friend and colleague Rachel Peters who knows a bit about this business of emotions. Hope you enjoy the conversation and let us know what you're taking away from it. Rachel is the creator of the yearlong Embody Ease Program and Advanced Mastermind Program and offers yoga online and in Prescott as Rachel Peters Yoga. They share tips for detoxing at home, nourishing simple recipes, and suggestions for your constitution. Enjoy! What you’ll get out of tuning in: How to detox at home. Detoxifying foods and recipes. Detox tips for Vata, Kapha and Pitta doshas. Links Mentioned in Episode: Create your Ayurvedic Profile Show Highlights: Cate tells a story about an early Yogi Detox experience. Cate shares some essential items to detox at home. Cate reviews a detox ‘recipe for disaster’. Favorite Quotes: “I know that when I emerge, after a few weeks of being in the Yogi Detox, when I emerge from the experience, my kitchen will be totally aligned with how I want to be eating next, because I’ll have been doing that. Things will have changed at home.” - Cate Stillman “When you have these lighter liquid diets, it frees up energy for digestion.” - Cate Stillman “I really like miso soup because it’s simple. I’m obviously not having it for every meal but it’s super easy, especially with a little bit of nori on top. It’s easy also to integrate into my families’ meals because they can add whatever they need to.” - Rachel Peters “My first book on Body Thrive is how to eat earlier at night, be done eating sooner. Go to bed early, wake up, hydrate, eliminate, meditate. Do breathe body practices. This is the recipe. And for those of you who have been in Body Thrive, for those of you who’ve been living Dinacharya, you get to really tap into the recipe and go deeper and have more time and eat lighter and feel more intuition. And what you find in this process is that you fall more deeply than ever in love with yourself. And not in a narcissist way. It’s consciousness merging with matter and matter merging with consciousness. And when you experience that, you are naturally led to that which is your medicine.” - Cate Stillman
Why detox? Improved digestion, restful sleep and clear skin is the tip of the iceberg. Tune into the podcast with Cate and Rachel Peters to find out what detox is and when to do it. What you’ll get out of tuning in: What detox is. Why feeling hunger is key to satiation. When to detox. Show Highlights: Cate reflects on how our ancestors lived. Cate describes true hunger. Softening ama. Favorite Quotes: “Imagine back when, you lived closer to the earth, and you were perhaps sleeping on the earth in a little hut. And outside were all the plants you were using to feed your body. There were times of winter and times of summer, there were times of scarcity and times of abundance. Your body would naturally move into those times of scarcity. And in times of scarcity when you’re taking in less food and your atmosphere is one that’s more barren than full, you have the experience of the opposites. So part of the problem now is whenever you go into WholeFoods, it’s abundant! There’s always strawberries, like always. There’s always blueberries. And so we have to create what seems like an artificial experience of barreness or a season of scarcity so that we give our organs a freakin’ break.” - Cate Stillman “Most people I work with in Body Thrive have lost the feeling of true hunger. And there’s a disconnect between the feeling of true hunger being the only path to true satiation.” - Cate Stillman “When you’re emptiness, you’re full of possibility.” - Cate Stillman “The body is smart and the mind is smart and the soul is smart. And I radically believe in the intelligence of you, of your organism and your mind-body-soul configuration. I believe if you give yourself the opportunity to release that which it wants to, so the body will release what it wants to, the liver will release what it wants to, the colon will release what it wants to, the arteries will release what it wants to.” - Cate Stillman “When we’re not so busy, when our bodies are not so busy digesting the food that we’re putting in, we create the space to digest the other things that we’ve distracted or pushed to the side.” - Rachel Peters

There's a willingness to be surprised to what the answer is; not coming in with needing to know.” - Rachel Peters “What I knew I needed to do was get out of the way and allow the ‘we' space to take over. It's quickly built this know, like and trust, not between me and the group but between the individuals in the group. Now they know each other on a more intimate basis.” - Rachel Peters
