On Episode 16 we talk to Luis Ramos, a Physical Therapist Assistant, Licensed Massage Therapist, and personal trainer. Luis grew up in Puerto Rico, joined the Marine Corps out of high school, and has since been working in training and rehab with a very diverse clientele. The things we chatted about included -his military background and the places he's been -going to PTA school, massage school, and becoming a trainer all within 3 years -working with patients in SNFs versus working with them in their homes -finding the balance between manual therapy and exercise -getting into pole fitness and aerials -does flexibility matter and how to get more flexible? -trying new things and getting out of your comfort zone
On Episode 15 we brought on one of the Crossfit OGs here in Jax,FL Chris Russell. He is the owner of Crossfit Jax, a retired Navy Master Trainer Specialist, and is also on seminar staff as a CFL4 with Crossfit HQ. Chris has an incredible story and a ton of insight with his diverse background. The things we discussed on this podcast episode included -his background being in the Navy and his first Crossfit experience while being deployed -taking a negative life altering experience and utilizing it to change the course of his life -changing stigmas of experiencing emotions, talking mental health, addiction/recovery and seeking help as men in today's society -his experience being on Seminar Staff -on coaching coaches vs coaching everyday people -being able to connect and communicate effectively with people on a deeper psychological level -more is not better, better is better -the meaning behind MOTION RX -fostering a listening environment to empower the speaker to share in a safe environment -"it's not about the nail"
