In this episode of the Food Junkies Podcast, Clarissa and Molly sit down with psychologist Dr. Carrie Wilkens to unpack what it really means to help people change without shame, stigma, or power struggles. Drawing from decades of work in substance use, eating disorders, trauma, and family systems, Carrie invites us to rethink "denial," "relapse," "codependency," and even the disease model itself, while still honoring the seriousness of addiction and the depth of people's pain. Together, we explore how self-compassion, curiosity, and values-based behavior change can transform not only individual recovery but also how families, helpers, and communities show up for the people they love. In this episode, we explore: Lived experience & professional work How Carrie's own long-term healing around food and her body continues to shape the compassion and curiosity she brings to her work. The idea that our relationship with food and our bodies changes across the lifespan—and why "lifelong relationship management" matters more than perfection. Do you have to be "in recovery" to help? The pressures clinicians face when they're asked, "Are you in recovery?" and how that question can be loaded with judgment and assumptions. Why personal experience with a specific substance or behavior is not a prerequisite to being deeply effective as a helper. How Carrie talks with clients and families about her own history in a way that's honest, boundaried, and clinically useful. Rethinking 'denial' and harmful language Why words like "denial," "addict," "codependent," "chronic relapser," and "it's a slippery slope" can shut people down rather than open them up. A more curious approach: asking "What do you mean by that?" and unpacking the real story underneath labels. How language can either invite people into self-understanding—or reinforce shame, fear, and disconnection. Softening the disease model without minimizing the problem Nuanced ways to honor addiction as a serious, complex disorder without collapsing everything into a rigid disease frame. How fear (of overdose, loss, chaos, or death) drives a lot of rigid thinking in systems and professionals. Why behavior change is slow, non-linear, and rarely a straight line—and how accepting that can actually make care more effective. Relapse as an "old solution that once worked" Carrie's reframe of relapse as returning to an old behavior that, at one time, made sense and worked on some level. How naming the function of a behavior (soothing, numbing, regulating, connecting) opens the door to new, less harmful solutions. The difference between "You didn't want it enough" and "Your brain reached for an old strategy that once helped you survive." The Invitation to Change Approach (ITC) The core elements of ITC: Motivational interviewing–informed curiosity and ambivalence exploration. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and values-based living. A deep commitment to self-compassion as a foundation for behavior change. Why ITC was originally developed for family members and then adapted for people with substance use concerns themselves. How the "wheel" of ITC lets people step in wherever they are—self-awareness, values, behavior strategies, or compassion—and build over time. Families, shame, and staying engaged without "tough love" Inviting family members to ask: "How does my loved one's behavior make sense?" instead of "What's wrong with them?" How this shift helps parents and partners move from fear and control into strategy, support, and skillful engagement. Concrete examples of how families can respond to return to use with curiosity, concern, and clearer communication instead of lectures or ultimatums. Codependency and other overused labels Why Carrie has never formally diagnosed anyone with "codependency." What often lives underneath that label: trauma histories, cultural norms, attachment dynamics, fear of loss, and learned survival strategies. How flattening all of that into "codependent" erases nuance and blocks meaningful change. Neurodivergence, trauma, and substance use/eating behaviors The high rates of PTSD and ADHD among people seeking help for substance use—and why that matters for treatment design. Carrie's reflection on her own undiagnosed ADHD and how it likely drove much of her earlier eating disorder behavior. How binges, purging, and substance use can function as powerful nervous system regulators, especially for neurodivergent and trauma-impacted brains. Why we need more ground-up, neurodivergent- and trauma-informed approaches that focus on emotion regulation, executive functioning, and skill-building. Self-compassion as a behavior change superpower Carrie's journey from skepticism ("this sounds too woo") to seeing self-compassion as essential, research-backed behavior-change work. How self-compassion reduces shame, helps people tolerate slow progress, and makes it safer to look honestly at their own behavior. Using both "tender" and "fierce" self-compassion to choose boundaries, seek support, and keep moving through discomfort. Reimagining 'expert' roles and community care Why Carrie is skeptical of rigid expert hierarchies in addiction treatment. Inviting families, community leaders, and lay helpers into the work through accessible tools like ITC groups and trainings. The power of giving non-clinicians simple, evidence-based language and frameworks so they can respond with compassion instead of panic or shame. About Dr. Carrie Wilkens Carrie Wilkens, PhD, is a psychologist with more than 25 years of experience in the practice and dissemination of evidence-based treatments for substance use and post-traumatic stress. She is the Co-President and CEO of CMC: Foundation for Change, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing evidence-based ideas and strategies to families, communities, and professionals supporting people struggling with substances. Carrie is a co-developer of the Invitation to Change (ITC) Approach, an accessible, skills-based framework that helps families stay engaged, reduce shame, and effectively support a loved one's behavior change. ITC is now used across the U.S. and internationally in groups, trainings, and community programs. She is co-author of the award-winning book Beyond Addiction: How Science and Kindness Help People Change, which adapts the Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) model for families, and co-author of The Beyond Addiction Workbook for Family and Friends, a practical, evidence-based guide for loved ones who want concrete tools to support change without sacrificing their own wellbeing. Carrie is also Co-Founder and Clinical Director of the Center for Motivation and Change (CMC), a group of clinicians providing evidence-based care in New York City, Long Island, Washington, DC, San Diego, and at CMC: Berkshires, a private residential program for adults. She has served as Project Director on a large SAMHSA-funded grant addressing college binge drinking and is frequently sought out by media outlets including CBS This Morning, the Katie Couric Show, NPR, and HBO's Risky Drinking to speak on substance use and behavior change. In today's conversation, I'm talking about what happens when you grow up in emotional instability, where the people you depended on also became the source of your pain. I share how that kind of environment creates codependency that feels like loyalty, and how stepping away from it can pull you straight into hyper-independence not because you want to be strong, but because your spirit no longer feels safe leaning on anyone.Inside this episode, I'm diving into:✨ How emotional manipulation and gaslighting shaped my sense of safety✨ Why I once believed certain people were the only ones I could trust✨ How motherhood exposed truths I couldn't ignore anymore✨ The shift from codependency into intense hyper-independence✨ Learning to trust my body again after years of survival mode✨ What softening looks like without returning to toxic cycles✨ Creating a new definition of love, safety, and supportIf you've struggled with trust, if you've walked away from people who felt like “home,” or if you're trying to rebuild yourself after emotional chaos this episode will sit gently with your heart.Take a breath.Settle into your body. And allow yourself to soften with me.Because this… This Is Healing.
This was the hardest year of my life. I found myself in the deepest freeze — emotionally, physically, and spiritually. After walking away from a relationship I once thought was my forever, I faced the terrifying realization that I had been outsourcing my safety for most of my life. Safety in men. Safety in money. Safety in pretending everything was fine.In this solo episode, I walk you through the unraveling. The grief, the helplessness, the heartbreak. And the surprising emotion that finally cracked me open and pulled me out of freeze: anger. Not rage — but the deep, righteous anger that reminded me I deserve more. This isn't a “bounce back” story. It's a remembering. If you've ever felt stuck in clinging energy, desperate for love, money, or a way out — I hope this helps you feel seen. I hope it helps you come back to yourself.❥Softening into self- 3 month 1:1 with Whats App Support:https://marina-yt.mykajabi.com/offers/PAWQhZHu❥❥1:1 Coaching with me: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfWcZM5s9c2OjOLwoGMI5jE6rh_JAzjN2d_vCtuVe7e3pVGxw/viewform❥❥❥Stay or Go Course: https://marinayt.com/stay-or-go ❥❥❥❥ FREE RESOURCE: a step-by-step process of working with your triggersTRIGGERED TO ROOTED: A ROADMAP TO CREATE TREASURES FROM YOUR TRIGGERSThis powerful step by step process will walk you through how to somatically move through a trigger, ground yourself, allow the emotions to come up and experience massive growth in your lifeDownload here: https://marinayt.com/trigger-2-rootedFollow me on Instagram: www.instagram.com/marina.y.t Subscribe to YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/@marinatriner Top Episode Quotes:“I was literally enacting helplessness so that my husband would rescue me.”“Anger is the antidote to freeze. In this episode, Ashley opens the Akashic Records and channels the guidance for December: this is a softening. The energy may feel more intense as the month begins, but the Records remind us to loosen our grip, to move slowly, and to return to grounded awareness. The message arrives like a teaching in imagery — if you walk too quickly while holding a candle, you risk dropping it. The month ahead is not about fear or contraction, but about walking softly, remembering peace, and allowing spaciousness to form within. After the channeled message, Ashley and Faith explore the astrology of December. They speak about the rapid shifts and transformations unfolding this month and how they reflect the design of the planets themselves — the celestial choreography shaping our collective and personal experience. Ashley then shares deeply from her own life, offering stories from her current season of softening. She speaks about creating space within her heart by gently releasing something that has been part of her story for the past four years, and how this inner unraveling mirrors the guidance coming through the Records. This episode is an invitation to breathe, to soften, and to trust the path as it opens. * * * * * * * * * * * * Year-End Sale ! Shop our biggest sale of the year! Are you clenching your way through life, hoping that if you “get it right,” everything will finally flow and feel satisfying? In this episode, Johanna reveals why seriousness and attachment create resistance in your body, block feminine flow, and shut down your natural magnetism. Instead, she teaches how delight, receptivity, and presence open the door to abundance, synchronicity, and inner safety.Through personal stories — including motherhood moments, inquiry work, and a real-time encounter that required presence and compassion — you'll learn what happens when you stop fighting reality and soften into what's here now.In this episode, we explore:Why “getting it right” makes your body tense, hypervigilant, and stuckHow attachment creates internal seriousness that repels delight and abundanceThe belief that “I cannot be content before X happens” , and how to dissolve itThe deeper fear: “It's not safe to be content now”, and how to question itHow delight increases feminine magnetism, creativity, and inner peaceUsing Byron Katie's four questions to unravel stories that keep you in sufferingWhat happens in your body when you soften, exhale, and receive the momentThe difference between true delight and trying to “transaction” your way to blessingsWhy feminine leadership begins with presence, receptivity, and availabilityA real-life story of helping a stranger How saving delight for “later” keeps you from the abundance assigned to you nowThis episode is your reminder that delight is not a reward; it's a pathway. It's the antidote to internal pressure, and it's the state where feminine flow moves freely. You'll walk away with:A softened nervous systemPermission to stop fighting realityA clearer mind and open heartA renewed connection to God's peace and provisionPractical questions you can use to unwind overthinking and return to presenceA deeper understanding of how feminine flow actually worksPerfect for women who:Want more ease, peace, and abundance in daily lifeAre tired of living in seriousness, pressure, and self-judgmentDesire feminine leadership rooted in presence and devotional livingAre learning to receive, trust, and create from inner safetyWant to activate magnetic, heart-led flowIf this episode resonates:

“Language can either divide us or bring us home to each other.”In this soulful conversation, Marina and Jawdat explore how Nonviolent Communication (NVC) becomes a bridge — between people, between cultures, and within ourselves. Jawdat, a lawyer and facilitator with Army of Healers, shares his work using dialogue, storytelling, and NVC to support trauma healing and collective reconciliation. Together, we explore how to communicate from compassion instead of defense, transform tension into deeper connection, bring awareness and healing into justice work, and use the body as a compass for honest, grounded expression. This episode invites us to see communication not just as words, but as an embodied act of love, repair, and truth.Connect with Jawdat:https://www.instagram.com/jdkassabhttps://jawdatkasab.wixsite.com/appraiser❥Softening into self- 3 month 1:1 with Whats App Support:https://marina-yt.mykajabi.com/offers/PAWQhZHu❥❥1:1 Coaching with me: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfWcZM5s9c2OjOLwoGMI5jE6rh_JAzjN2d_vCtuVe7e3pVGxw/viewform❥❥❥Stay or Go Course: https://marinayt.com/stay-or-go ❥❥❥❥ FREE RESOURCE: a step-by-step process of working with your triggersTRIGGERED TO ROOTED: A ROADMAP TO CREATE TREASURES FROM YOUR TRIGGERSThis powerful step by step process will walk you through how to somatically move through a trigger, ground yourself, allow the emotions to come up and experience massive growth in your lifeDownload here: https://marinayt.com/trigger-2-rootedFollow me on Instagram: www.instagram.com/marina.y.t Subscribe to YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/@marinatriner Top Episode Quotes:“Language is not neutral — it can be a weapon or a bridge.”“Compassion doesn't mean agreeing. HeatherAsh sits down with author and teacher, Michael Stone, to explore a compassionate, practical approach to trauma healing. Michael shares raw pieces of his story, from early childhood and family rupture to profound loss, and how those experiences became medicine for personal and collective awakening. We talk somatic work, ancestral repair, why “relating” matters more than “relationship,” and how community circles become engines of healing. If you've ever wondered where to start (or start again), this conversation offers a grounded path: soften, slow down, and let the body lead.Episode Highlights:Trauma is intelligence, not pathology. It's the nervous system's adaptive way of keeping us safe, and healing means gently feeling what was once too overwhelming. The body leads the way. Somatic practices, not talk alone, open the door to repair and integration.Healing thrives in relationship. Circles and community dissolve shame, reveal “me too” moments, and accelerate growth. We inherit more than eye color. Ancestral and collective trauma live in us too, and healing them shifts the larger field.Start simple. Softening and slowing down through meditation, nature, or gentle embodiment, are powerful first steps.Resources & Links:Michael's Website:https://www.welloflight.comTraumatized: A Love Story(book mentioned)Pocket Project / Social Witnessing (concept referenced by Michael)Family Constellations (Bert Hellinger; modality referenced)FiveRhythms / Gabrielle Roth (somatic movement lineage referenced)Contact Michael: Michael@welloflight.com

We often talk about “finding balance”... but what if balance begins when we stop holding ourselves up and allow the ground to hold us?In this episode, host Elizabeth Mintun sits down with Mary Sinclair, a movement educator and somatic practitioner, to explore how our relationship with the ground shapes the way we move through life, both physically and emotionally. Mary shares how posture, alignment, and the simple act of yielding can shift us from effort to ease and why learning to yield can be a path to resilience and trust. Whether you're standing at a crossroads, feeling off-balance, or craving more rootedness in your daily life, this episode offers a reminder: you don't have to hold it all up alone.Key TakeawaysGrounding is a relationship, not a technique. True grounding isn't something you “do.” It's an ongoing dialogue between your body and the earth - a mutual exchange of support and trust.Balance begins with yielding. Instead of holding ourselves rigidly upright, we can soften into gravity and let the ground carry some of the weight. Yielding means allowing support.Posture is emotional as much as physical. How we stand and move often mirrors how we meet life. Softening the body's effort to “hold it together” can open emotional and energetic space for ease and flow.Trust grows through the body. Each time we let ourselves feel supported (by the floor, the chair, the breath, etc.), we practice the deeper art of trusting life itself.Resources Mary Sinclair's Website: marysinclairbalance.comThe Be Sanctuary in Columbus, Ohio: https://www.thebesanctuary.org/Learn more about 1:1 Coaching with Elizabeth Mintun here. On the 147th episode of What is a Good Life?, I'm delighted to welcome Karimu Samuels. We're getting into what is traditionally known as the busiest time of the year but here I am dedicating an episode on the poddy on why rest is more important than ever.I want you to ask yourself a gentle question: When did you learn that rest was wrong?I already know it's not consciously. You didn't wake up one day and say, hmm… I think I'll deny myself rest and build my self worth around exhausted and doing things all the timeYou more than likely absorbed it. Watching the women around you run on empty. Always giving. Always available. Always doing. You saw that “good women” didn't stop… They didn't say no. They didn't ask for support. They didn't nap or take long baths or lounge in sunlight. If you're listening I know more likely than not you want to tap more into your feminine energy and Feminine energy isn't built on depletion… it's built on overflow. Signs you have a wounded feminine energy relationship with rest So when you finally try to rest your mind is in complete resistance screaming at youYou're falling behind. You should be doing something. You haven't earned this.Everyone needs you.We can rest later, and that later keeps getting pushed out and further as things pop up.Signs you have a wounded relationship with restYou feel anxious when you're not doing something productiveYou constantly multitaskYou only rest when your body physically forces youYou come up with excuses why you can't rest right now or even laterYou can't relax without some sort of stimulation e.g. scrolling, TV, drinking, eatingYou feel guilty spending time alone, unwinding, or doing “nothing”Rest feels foreignYou don't know what to do when things get quietIf any of these resonate… I want you to put a hand on your heart.Take a breath. There is nothing wrong with you. It's because you've learnt that rest is dangerous. Maybe rest means you could be forgotten, or in trouble or unloved. You are simply a woman who learned to survive. You're not lazy or lacking discpline when it comes to rest Your nervous system remembers every moment you had to hold the world together alone. So now, when you try to soften, your body panics not because rest is wrong, but because rest was never safe before. That's not a failure. It's actually your brilliance. Your survival intelligence. The part of you that says “keep going” is the same part that once kept you safe. She protected you. She carried you. She made sure you survived in environments where softness wasn't allowed. Now she's tired. She doesn't know rest is safe yet and I want you to know: I see her. I see you. You're not lazy. You're not lacking discipline. Your nervous system doesn't know how to feel safe without being go go go all the time. The healing isn't in forcing rest. It's in teaching your body that rest is no longer a threat. Not by shaming your resistance, but by honouring it. Listening to it. Softening with it slowly. You don't need to push yourself to relax.

What do horror movies and your pet's sense of safety have in common? More than you'd think. This week, Ellen and Emily get delightfully spooky as they unpack how elements that make horror films terrifying, like the lighting, sound, movement, and unpredictability, can actually teach us how to create safer, more predictable, and more empathetic environments for the animals (and humans!) in our care. From jump scares to dryer growls, to “Don't be Michael Myers,” this episode explores how understanding fear responses across species can help us support our pets' well-being and strengthen our bond with them.If you've ever wondered why your dog hesitates in the dark hallway or why your cat bolts at a strange noise, this episode will make you see your home through their eyes. Listen in to learn how to turn your pet's horror movie moments into feelings of safety, security, and trust.TLDL (too long, didn't listen): 1️⃣ Lighting, Sound, and Movement Matter – Subtle environmental cues like dim lighting, rumbling sounds, or direct eye contact can evoke fear. Adjusting them can help your pet feel safer and more relaxed.2️⃣ Predictability Builds Safety – Just like we find comfort in rewatching familiar movies, our pets thrive when they can anticipate what's coming next. Predictable routines and clear communication create calm, confident learners.3️⃣ Don't Be Michael Myers – How we move, approach, and present ourselves affects how animals perceive us. Softening your body language and giving clear, consistent cues helps your pet know you're safe to be around, even when you're stressed. For the full episode show notes, including the resources mentioned in this episode, go here.More from Pet HarmonyPet Parents: enrichment ideas and practical behavior tips

Economist Dave Rosenberg, president of Rosenberg Research, says that his preferred indicators on economic growth are showing a slowing economy, where "the recession may already be starting." He acknowledges that the stock market "hasn't figured this out," but he says — based on the way Treasuries are trading — that the bond market has already figured it out. Rosenberg says that the market has "been in a bubble environment for many, many months," but that it can continue to inflate without popping for a while. "You're investing in an environment where the wind is in your face," he says, "it's not at your back." For a decade now, Chuck has offered the trick-or-treaters in his neighborhood a chance to pick cash or candy, and the opportunity to make a trade to try to get a bigger treat. It's his way of teaching basic financial decision-making, where children must consider if the financial prize is worth more to them because it's different and more useful than candy. The game changes in small ways each year, and Chuck is unveiling a new "second chance" option that actually would be a really bad choice for the children. Chuck also talks about how you can do your own scaled-down version of cash-or-candy in your home. Discount-capture investor Rob Shaker, portfolio manager at Shaker Financial Services, says that he's "not seeing anything in the closed-end fund space that would point to any type of bubble conditions," but instead sees generic, seasonal discount-widening caused by the start of year-end tax selling. Still, he says investors should make sure they are comfortable that they can weather those flurries "and readjust to the better things that are on sale and then double-collect on the way up." Plus Jon Stubbs, analyst at Clever Real Estate talks about the housing market as measured by trends in national statistics, which have shown that homes are now on the market for longer than during the summer, with median home values up slightly but median sale prices up more, suggesting that investors are paying a premium to make a deal now.

In this episode, we explore the quiet underrated and often misunderstood power of softness... not as weakness but as one of the greatest strengths we can embody. Drawing on themes that emerged during my Bali Radiance Retreat, we dive into what it really means to soften in a world that often asks us to harden, to armour up, to stay closed and unshakable. Resources from today's episode Work with Phi Learn more about 1:1 Coaching with Phi here. Apply for 1:1 Coaching with Phi here. Book a Human Design Reading with Phi here. Phi's book; The Great Unlearning: Awakening to Living an Aligned and Authentic Life. Message Phi on Instagram Email Phi Softness is a strength Hello my love, welcome back to the Grow Through It Podcast with me Phi. I'm back from Bali where I recently ran my Radiance Retreat hence why softness actually has been on my mind a lot lately. It was a huge theme that surfaced during the recent retreat how gentleness, presence, and the ability to soften are not weaknesses, but deep forms of strength. As we explored this on retreat I shared with the beautiful women the realisation that softness doesn't exist without shadow: the parts of ourselves we hide, suppress like our fears and parts of us, our feelings that we deem as too much or perhaps negative. The world teaches us to harden and armour up Today, I want to talk about both: how softness and shadow live and dance together, and how embracing both can lead to real growth, presence, and connection. We'll dive into what it means to soften in the face of life's challenges, to meet our shadows with curiosity and care and to embody strength that is tender yet deeply powerful. For anyone listening, I'll be diving even deeper into softness and shadow in Flow (luxury feminine self care) Vietnam Retreat next year at the end of May 2026launching very soon, so DM me for more info. Let's get into it. We all harden at some point in our lives, maybe you are still hard and it's because you learnt to be this way. The world teaches us to harden. To brace. To armour up. We tighten our shoulders against bad news. We build walls around our hearts after heartbreak. We try to be unshakable in a time that keeps shaking us. While that armor can protect us, it also traps us. We stop feeling the sun on our skin. We stop noticing the rhythm and depth of our own breath. We hesitate to be vulnerable with others, afraid they might hurt us or break our hearts and ironically, it is that very fear that can keep love from flowing in at all. Softness is like water Softening is not about losing strength. It's about remembering that gentleness is a kind of strength. It means letting the body breathe again. It means letting your jaw unclench, your shoulders drop, your grip relax. Think of it like flow and water. Water flows around obstacles but it shapes mountains. Softening isn't becoming less. You become vast: spacious enough to hold both strength and surrender, both clarity and compassion. Softening is power and it's something I return to time and time again working with clients: strength isn't hardening after you perceive the world or someone or something wrongs you or hurts you… strength is in healing yet remaining true to your nature and if you're listening to this I have a feeling your nature is loving, kind and respectful. It's the part of you that keeps choosing softness, even after life gives you every reason to close. Reclaiming softness as the feminine Softness is not your weakness. it's your essence. It's your truth. No wound, no betrayal, no disappointment can take that away from you…unless you let it. Softness doesn't erase the hurt; it simply gives our hearts permission to move through it, to hold both the pain and the possibility of joy. Softness is often seen as a gentle, almost fragile quality but for women, it's deeply resonant because it's about reclaiming something that society frequently asks us to suppress. From a young age,

This is a time to release what no longer serves, To let go of old patterns, to welcome a feeling of ease. PAUSE… With each breath, feel your body grow heavier, more at ease, The toes relax, the feet sink into softness, A feeling of calm rising slowly through the legs, Unwinding the tightness, loosening any grip, And inviting a deep comfort to settle in. PAUSE… The belly softens, the chest opens, And a calm flows across the shoulders, letting them rest. Feel the arms grow heavy, the hands soft and open, The weight releasing, the body gently grounding. This is a place of rest, a place of quiet, Where every breath invites a deeper letting go. This week on Payne Points of Wealth, Bob, Ryan, Chris, and Courtney dive into the evolving dynamics of the U.S. labor market. Despite predictions of a slowdown, companies are hesitant to lay off workers—even as hiring remains sluggish. Is this a sign of economic weakness, or are deeper demographic shifts like an aging population and reduced immigration reshaping the workforce? We also unpack Wall Street's push to make alternative investments more accessible to everyday investors—a movement often branded as “democratization.” While financial firms tout the benefits of private equity and other alternatives, few are talking about the risks. In fact, as retail investors are being encouraged to buy in, institutional giants are quietly heading for the exits. Yale's $41.4 billion endowment is unwinding nearly $3 billion in alternative holdings. Meanwhile, private credit—a market that barely existed a decade ago—is surging toward $2 trillion. Firms like Apollo and Blackstone are now lending directly to businesses, consumers, and real estate investors, giving regular investors unprecedented access. But is this truly a golden opportunity, or a hidden risk to your retirement? We break down the opaque, illiquid nature of these investments and what they could mean for your long-term financial future. Tune in for our take on what's really happening in the job market and whether Wall Street's latest pitch is worth your hard-earned dollars.
The Bhagavad-gītā is more than philosophy—it's full of feeling. Arjuna's grief and Krishna's compassion remind us that yoga is not about suppressing emotions but purifying and deepening them. In this episode, Raghunath and Kaustubha explore Krishna's pastime of becoming every cowherd boy and calf in Vṛndāvana, where ordinary love becomes unlimited when connected to the Divine. The lesson: to experience the emotions of bhakti, we must keep our hearts soft and respectful toward all beings. Also: Raghunath clears his head on a bike ride, Mara has her “Govardhan Hill moment,” and magnets and rust somehow find their way into yoga philosophy.
