We've all been in a relationship where we weren't our best selves. Lee Piatelli, my guest, is reminded of a relationship like that when he hears John Mayers "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room." This song really alludes to the end of a relationship. Sometimes we aren't ready to see that it's over. Have you ever hung on to a relationship you knew was ending? Lee remembers both of them getting comfortable. He can look back now and see they were just going through the motions. Sometimes it's hard to leave comfortable! And that's why I always say a relationship is over before it's publicly over. We get stuck in safe and changing that can be scary. At some point, one person "calls it" and it's time to move on. The important thing is that we learn from our mistakes in relationships and not repeat them. John Mayer puts so much emotion into his songs. Lee enjoys this song to evoke emotion or simply to feel emotion. He has quite an appreciation for it!! Lee pointed out that he has such a talented band supporting him, it's hard not to produce, and play live, amazing music. Lee knows a good band bc he is a singing drummer out of Nashville. You often can find him on Broadway playing with the likes of Nick DeLeo, and he's played in the past for artists like Ry Bradley and Derek St Holmes. Lee actually loves the live version of this song off of the live album "Where the Light Is." It was recorded in L.A., 2007 and released in 2008. Full Show Notes

“I want to take my fans to where their toes are just barely touching the bottom. They know where they are but they are excited by what’s next.” Ry Bradley is an award-winning country music artist who brings his dynamic stage presence and innovative country sound with him wherever he goes. Winner of the 2014 LA Music Award for “Country Artist of the Year,” Ry states, “it feels great to be recognized for what I do when inside I still feel like an 11-year-old kid with a guitar, excited to play my songs.” Ry earned a bachelors degree in music at the University of California. Merle Haggard, Dwight Yoakam, and Johnny Cash were a few of the most influential artists. “As I was becoming my own person, experiencing the ups and downs of life, those artists gave a voice to the feelings I didn’t yet know how to express myself. There was rock, and there were blues, but it was always country music that truly called out to this heart.”
Author and film critic Gemma Files is a contributing writer to the latest horror anthology from Crystal Lake Publishing - Tales From The Lake Volume 5. Tonight's sponsor is recording artist Ry Bradley, and you can find his music on Spotify.
I want to introduce you guys to Ry Bradley. He’s a California-based and Hawaiian-reared singer/songwriter Ry Bradley is out to break that Nashville country music stereotype mold that holds back so many singers from blossoming into true artists. Ry has a brand new openly personal, yet rocking album, Everything I’ve Got, including the song “Next Aldean Show,” which not only pays tribute to the shooting victims of the Las Vegas Route 91 Music Festival last year, all proceeds go to the survivors and family members. Ry is also involved in Women in Rock event, and recently held his own rock and roll camp for young musicians in Norway. On This EpisodeWe spoke with the very down-to-earth young star from his home in Orange County, California. Bradley opened up about how splitting time as a kid of divorce in Hawaii and California shaped his musical pallet and he’s sharing with you what it takes to carve your own path in life – which I’m going to add no matter what your bank account says – money is just a number and you’ve got stuff you’re supposed to do in life regardless of that number.Topics We Talked AboutBeing a millennialAlways giving back, helping to make the world a better placeCarving your own path in music and lifeVegas shooting, raising money for victims and their familiesWomen in Rock event in SeptemberRock n Roll Camp in Norway – YES!Links:Ry BradleySUBSCRIBE & REVIEWWant to be the first to know when new episodes are released?
