You can feel when a Nationals is being built with real intention and Fort Wayne is making that case early. We sit down with John Figueroa, chair of the 2026 IPMS USA National Convention, and treasurer Dave Mason to get the behind-the-scenes look at what's coming to the Grand Wayne Convention Center in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana, August 5 through 8. The big headline: they're not doing this with one club grinding for four days. They've assembled 11 clubs across Region 4 to share the workload, share the payoff, and still have time to enjoy the convention like everyone else.We dig into the attendee essentials: a vendor room on the scale you expect from IPMS Nationals (about 426 vendor tables with only a few left), plus a seminar schedule that runs from beginner to advanced. Expect practical topics like scale model photography and lighting, CAD, Silhouette and Cricut paint masks, and weathering for dioramas, along with subject-focused sessions and special interest group guidance. If you come to Nationals to learn new techniques, this lineup is designed to keep you moving from room to room. Then we get into the “why” behind their choices. John explains a deliberate push to welcome more genres, so automotive, ships, sci-fi, and Gundam builders feel just as at home as aircraft and armor modelers. That shows up in theme awards, custom decal sheets, and a raffle they treat as one of the three core pillars of the show, with plans that even let you check results online. We also talk logistics that matter: online pre-registration is open, it's $55, pre-registration closes June 30, and on-site registration jumps to $65. Finally, Fort Wayne adds a unique capstone: an awards ceremony in the restored Embassy Theatre connected by skywalk. Subscribe, share this with a modeling buddy, and leave a review so more builders can find the road to Fort Wayne.2026 IPMS National Convention - Fort Wayne, IN2026 IPMS National Convention Facebook PageModel Paint SolutionsYour source for Harder & Steenbeck Airbrushes, Mixing supplies, and great advice!SQUADRON Adding to the stash since 1968Model PodcastsPlease check out the other pods in the modelsphere!KitMasxCustom Canopy Masks for the Scale ModelerBases By BillYour source for custom display bases, laser engraved airfield and carrier decks.Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. WHO KNOWS WHAT TOMORROW MAY BRING by Traffic (United Artists, 1968)The original line up of Traffic had it all: mysticism, funk, folk, world music, and a healthy dose of irony. For an acid head like me they were the perfect accompaniment for a trip through shifting patterns of synchronicity. Of course, Traffic was helmed by the one and only Steve Winwood, who as a teenager impressed the world, shouting the blues on “I'm a Man,” and “Keep on Running” with the Spencer Davis Group, and was now considered a full-blown genius. But they also needed Dave Mason for ballast, because after he left the rising balloon, Winwood navigated the group into extended jazz noodle-ville - (but, that's another story!) Who knows what tomorrow may bring from the group's eponymous second album is a deceptively simple groove and mantra that resonates across genres, time-zones, and philosophies, releasing a blast of joy-filled dopamine to one's synaptic receptors, even as one contemplates the evanescence of life. And, that swinging organ counterpoint is smoking! As I felt the waves of dislocation beginning to distort my perceptions, Winwood encouraged me to “step outside” of my mind, and “float across the ceiling…” I trusted him, and so I did just that. And, it was good.
The Yardbird's Godfrey Townsend is Living a Rock 'n Roll Wet Dream Fourth time IS the charm. After way too many reschedulings, as with all things, this conversation with the Yardbirds' Godfrey Townsend happened exactly when it was intended. Lightning doesn't strike the same spot twice, and this was an electric circus of talk and music perfection. From jumping in at the opening with The Who's Won't Get Fooled Again, to Godfrey's masterpiece of Jeff Beck's, Cause We've Ended as Lovers, from Blow by Blow, which cracked my heart open and left me with goosebumps, in tears… to every single moment in between, this was heaven. I've fostered my share of conversations that have blown my mind; this is amongst the best of the best. For a girl whose moniker was RockGirl back in the day when Godfrey and I met decades ago, this conversation was truly a Rock 'N Roll wet dream. Godfrey not only shares stories with Jack Bruce, John Entwistle, Alan Parsons, Mark Farner, Dave Mason, Joey Molland, Todd Rundgren, Howard Kaylan, The Cowsills, Chuck Negron, The Association, Mark Volman… he's played with them all! And his stories and intimate experiences with them left me breathless. And then there's meeting Clapton, his divine private audience with Pete Townshend, his adorable Jimmy Page encounter and impression, meeting Beck! Has any rockin' stone been left unturned? Dammit, I didn't even ask about Mick and Keith! Next time. And there will be a next time. For the two hours of this, I trust there are so many more unmined gems. If rock's your thing, if you lived through the 60s till now, or just dig the music, Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200… hit the play button and hunker down for a wild, fun, and wonderful ride. An inside view from an insider. Consider this the audiobook of Godfrey's sure-to-come bestselling rock memoir. Hachachacha! LOVED IT! I believe this is a very good time to remindeveryone to pray for our military chaplains. First, pray for Dr. Steve Keith, who heads up the team of chaplains from the Liberty Baptist Fellowship. Then specifically, you can remember two chaplains we are very close to. One ismy son, Nathan Grooms, who is a U.S. Navy Chaplain and is presently deployed. Also, someone I call my adopted son, Shawn Taylor, who is an U.S. Air ForceChaplain. Shawn served as our worship leader for ten years at Rainbow ForestBaptist Church, and he is also presently deployed away from his family. Pleasedo pray for them and for all of our chaplains. Thenright here in the community where I live, in Sneads Ferry, we have the largeMarine Corps Base Camp Lejeune military base. I have two dear friends who workwith the military here. One is Justin Sterns, who does discipleship on basewith many of the Marines there. Then also Dave Mason, who has a ministry ofmilitary evangelism to the Marines here and provides a place where they cancome on Friday nights, listen to the Word of God, fellowship with one another,be encouraged, and walk as they should—not only as Marines, but as believersand followers of Christ. Both of these men are reaching others for Christ righthere in our community. Soplease pray for all our military today. Pray for our nation's leadership aswell, as we are living in a crucial time in our country especially with theconflict in the Middle East. Thank you again for your prayers. This shirtsimply reminded me to ask you to pray. Now,as we were studying Philippians chapter 2, especially verses 3 and 4, we readthese words: “Let each esteem others better than himself. Let each one ofyou not look out for his own interests only, but also for the interests ofothers.” As I read those two verses, I could not help but think again ofPsalm 15, which we have been studying together. Yesterday,we talked about what was in verse 2b: “He who speaks the truth in hisheart.” Now in verse 3, David moves to the use of our tongues: “He whodoes not backbite with his tongue.” The word “backbite” here means slanderor gossip. You know how much damage is done by careless words. We used to sayas children, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurtme.” But that is absolutely not true. Words can hurt more deeply than we canever imagine. Wordsare eternal. Once you say them, you cannot take them back. As a matter of fact, they are recorded in heaven because the Scripture says that one day we willgive an account for every idle word that comes out of our mouths (Matthew12:36). It is important what we say—and what we do not say. SoPsalm 15 says: “He who does not backbite with his tongue.” We are not tobe backbiters, slanderers, or gossipers. Proverbs 18:21 says: “Death and lifeare in the power of the tongue.” A believer who walks closely with God mustguard his speech. Gossip destroys friendships, churches, and testimonies. Thatis why Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:29—a passage we studied a few months ago: “Letno corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessaryedification.” Insteadof tearing people down, we should be building them up for the glory of God. Ipray that the Lord will help us do that. The way to do that is to think goodabout people—to think positively about people. As Oswald Chambers said, weshould see every person in Christ, or every person needing Christ. Then we canbecome people who encourage others and build them up rather than tear themdown, despite what they may say or do against us. We do not retaliate and saywhat we should not say. Remember, the Scripture says that when Jesus was reviled, He reviled not again (1 Peter2:23). And His last words about those who crucified Him were: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34). May the Lordhelp us to live that way.

We sure do love a list! And Loudwire has put out their list of 80s bands that should have been bigger! And we have a lot to say about this list -- the ones we agree with, the ones we don't really like, and the ones who may not have deserved to have been any bigger than they were. Plus we each list the 80s bands we love that we think should have been bigger. But first we have some music news to cover with the passings of Dave Mason and Alan Osmond, plus a sad announcement from the Indigo Girls. We'd love to hear your thoughts about 80s bands that should have been bigger. I was abducted by aliens and transported back to March 7th. When I pleaded with them that I had no desire to relive the past few weeks since Dementia Donny attacked Iran they relented and brought me back. So The Saturday Edge On Folk ran half an hour late and ran half an hour late to 12:30pm today. Phew, what a trip! Thanks to Ciara and Jasper (their earthly names) for bringing me back! This allowed me to pay tribute to English guitarist / songwriter and founder member of Traffic, Dave Mason, who died this week. Until his obituary came out I did not realize he played the acoustic guitar which drove Jimi Hendrix' great cover of Dylan's All Along The Watchtower all those years ago. Also featured lots of new music and an extended sample of Irish trad from the great Dervish, who play in town tomorrow.
In the first half of this week's episode, Tommie talks about icebergs, he and Patrick meet the Finnish Spitz, wish a Happy Birthday to actor Jack Nicholson and director John Waters, pay their respects to actor Patrick Muldoon and musician Dave Mason, smoke some grass for Earth Day, question why private religious schools should get public money while barring LGBTQIA children, mock Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' recent speech condemning progressivism, condemn the Justice Department for persecuting the Southern Poverty Law Center, and get an update on the war with Iran. (Part Two will be released on April 29)

The Rizzuto Show kicks off exactly how you'd expect from a daily comedy podcast—with absolutely zero structure and a heated debate about truck colors that somehow turns into judging people's personalities based on paint jobs. Black cars mean you think you're Batman, beige trucks mean you've given up on life, and somewhere in the middle is a questionable “bronze oxide” that nobody asked for. From there, it's a quick detour into one of the most important investigations of our time: the infamous fart video. Yes, it's real. Yes, it's been analyzed. And yes, accusations are still flying like it's a courtroom drama nobody wanted but everyone watched. Add in some Earth Day talk—complete with hippie flashbacks, trash vs. dog poop philosophy, and the realization that we're all kind of terrible at saving the planet—and you've got a perfectly unhinged start. Then comes “Fact Man Moon,” where we learn Mountain Dew used to basically mean moonshine, a town in Nebraska has a population of one (and she runs everything), and some of the biggest music hits were basically accidents that stuck. Also, history happened—apparently a lot of it—and we do our best to remember it correctly.Things take a turn into celebrity news with some real emotion as the crew reflects on the passing of legendary musician Dave Mason, including a hilariously awkward grocery store encounter that proves even rock legends need clam chowder. There's also talk of Alan Osmond, Morgan Wallen's redemption-era generosity, and Joe Buck stepping into a Jeopardy-style hosting gig that somehow makes perfect sense.Of course, it wouldn't be the show without completely unnecessary debates—like whether anyone can actually taste the difference in bottled water (spoiler: people think they can, and they're ready to fight about it). Also, apparently some of you would rather dehydrate than drink the “wrong” water, which feels aggressive but on-brand.And then… chaos. The crew dives into the Password game, where listeners compete for tickets and the rules are explained just enough to immediately fall apart. Clues get weird, guesses get questionable, and somehow people are winning faster than the hosts can process what's happening. It's competitive, confusing, and exactly the kind of mess you expect from a daily comedy podcast that thrives on things going off the rails. We also get into new music (including a nostalgic-but-questionable MGK and Fred Durst collab), bizarre celebrity stories like almost-edible-fueled Vegas marriages, and the kind of commentary that makes you question how this show stays on the air… but you're glad it does.Somewhere in all of this, there are giveaways, random arguments, and at least three moments where someone probably should've been muted—but wasn't.If you came for structure, you're in the wrong place. If you came for laughs, confusion, and a little bit of everything else, congratulations—you've found your new favorite daily comedy podcast.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.St. Louis Earth Day Festival 2026More than a Dozen Wrongful Arrests Due to Police Reliance on Facial Recognition TechnologyWhat is 'Panchgavya', a mixture containing cow urine made mandatory by Gangotri Mandir Samiti to enter temple$50K treasure hunt hits San Francisco streets with rare coins hidden across iconic neighborhoodsSalmon exposed to cocaine swim almost twice as far as those without, study showsFinnish Air Force cadets under fire for drawing giant penis-shaped flight patterns during training mission‘Million-dollar prostitute:' Sub caught acting erratically in Lake County classroomKansas high school students take 27-foot Oscar Mayer Wienermobile to the promWorker Jumps from His Truck to Rescue Toddler Who Broke Away from Parent and Nearly Ran into Heavy TrafficLay's celebrates FIFA World Cup 2026 with a whopping 40 limited-edition chips — but only 3 will be sold in the USSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Welcome back to The Rizzuto Show—your favorite comedy podcast where the topics don't matter and the chaos is guaranteed. This episode kicks off with Moon dropping knowledge bombs in “Fact Man” that nobody asked for but somehow we all needed—like the origin of Mountain Dew and why it sounds like something your uncle definitely brewed in a shed. From there, things take a turn into surprisingly heartfelt territory as Lern shares stories about the late Dave Mason… including a real-life celebrity sighting at Whole Foods that involved clam chowder, mild stalking, and zero regrets. But don't worry—we don't stay emotional for long. This comedy podcast quickly pivots into absolute nonsense with a breakdown of the new Machine Gun Kelly and Fred Durst track that has the studio split between nostalgia and “what did I just hear?” There's also talk of Morgan Wallen donating big money (redemption arc?), Joe Buck hosting sports Jeopardy (sure, why not), and one of the strangest almost-marriages involving Aubrey Plaza and Michael Cera that honestly feels fake—but isn't.We also get into wild stories from Hollywood, including Rihanna absolutely leveling Michael Cera on set (yes, for real), and a genuinely inspiring update on Elizabeth Smart that somehow leads into a discussion about bodybuilding competitions… which quickly becomes a terrible idea we're all considering anyway. And because no episode is complete without a completely unnecessary argument, we wrap things up debating the greatest action movies of all time—where feelings get hurt, opinions get loud, and nobody agrees on anything. If you're into a comedy podcast that mixes celebrity gossip, weird news, random facts, and a group of people who absolutely should not be trusted with microphones—this episode delivers.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Sandy recently sat down with legendary guitarist, singer-songwriter and founding member of Traffic, Dave Mason, for a candid and often humorous look back at a remarkable life in music.Dave reflects on his early beginnings, revealing how a failed ambition to join the Royal Air Force led him instead toward music—a path he committed to in his teens after forming his first bands. He shares how his connection with Steve Winwood and others came about, giving insight into the organic, free-spirited formation of Traffic during the vibrant 1960s music scene. The conversation explores Dave's songwriting journey, including the creation of classics like “Hole in My Shoe” and the enduring anthem “Feelin' Alright.” He explains how his early lack of life experience pushed him to seek inspiration abroad, ultimately shaping some of his most iconic work. Dave also reflects on the tensions within Traffic, driven by differing musical directions, which led to his eventual departure.Moving into his solo career, Dave discusses working alongside music giants such as Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison and Paul McCartney. He speaks with admiration about Hendrix in particular, describing him as truly one of a kind.Throughout the interview, Dave offers a grounded perspective on fame, creativity and longevity. He opens up about lessons learned, especially around the business side of music, and shares his philosophy of “travelling light”—not dwelling on the past but continuing to move forward. There's also discussion about his more recent work, including new music like “Mangos,” written during his time in Maui, and his reimagined album Alone Together Again. Dave touches on the challenges facing today's music industry, from streaming to the decline of traditional radio, while emphasising that live performance remains at the heart of his connection with audiences.Despite his legendary status, Dave remains refreshingly humble, describing himself simply as a “singer-guitar player.” His passion for music is as strong as ever, and his story is one of resilience, creativity and a lifelong dedication to his craft.Dave Mason passed away on April 19 2026 at the age of 79. According to his wife, Winifred - he had just cooked a great meal, sat down on his favourite chair, closed his eyes .. and slipped away.#dave mason #traffic #british guitar legent

On this episode, we pay tribute to Dave Mason — co-founder of Traffic and the iconic voice behind “We Just Disagree.” The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame–inducted guitarist, also known for “Only You Know and I Know,” has passed away at the age of 79. According to a statement shared with Rolling Stone, Mason's family expressed “deep and profound sadness,” honoring a life devoted to music and the people he loved. No cause of death has been announced. Throughout his legendary career, Mason recorded and performed with an incredible list of artists, including Paul McCartney, George Harrison, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Steve Winwood, Fleetwood Mac, Delaney Bramlett, and Cass Elliot. Born on May 10, 1946, in Worcester, England, Mason overcame major challenges early in life—including a severe childhood accident that left him hospitalized for 18 months and forced him to relearn how to walk. That resilience carried through a lifetime of music that continues to inspire generations. #DaveMason #TrafficBand #WeJustDisagree #ClassicRock #RockLegend #RIPDaveMason #GuitarLegend #RockAndRollHallOfFame #MusicHistory #70sRock #SteveWinwood #EricClapton #JimiHendrix #RockTribute #LegendaryMusicians
