On this episode, I talk with Sam Fry and Richard Adams. Sam works at the intersection of innovation, technology, and art. He works for a technology company during the day and speaks to artists about technology at night. Richard describes himself as an artist, musician, educator, and emerging tech architect. After almost 5 years of creating this podcast, Sam Fry summarises some of the lessons that he has learned.By day, Sam works as a technology consultant at IBM, where he helps large companies design and deliver compelling digital products. Sam Fry speaks to Patrick Lichty, a New Media Artist who (at the time of recording) was based in United Arab Emirates. Patrick describes himself as a media “reality” artist, who works using a number of technologies to create his work. He works with machine drawings, 3D sculptures, video art and with artificial intelligence. With over two decades of experience exploring how media and mediation affect our perception of reality, Patrick also works as Assistant Professor of Animation at Zayed University. Sam Fry speaks to Vik Bennett, a writer, poet and creative producer. Vik (known often in her writing as Victoria) is founder of the grassroots arts collective, Wild Women Press. As a result, she has spent the last twenty years curating platforms for women to share ideas, stories, inspirations, and actions for positive change. She also holds an MA in Creative Writing and has three decades experience working as a freelance writer and artist. Her writing has won the Andrew Waterhouse Poetry Award, the Mother's Milk Writing Prize, and a Northern Debut Award. She is also director of The Wizard and The Wyld Ltd, a creating immersive playable poetry within video-game platforms. A frequent digital collaborator, she interested in how poetry and new technologies can be used to create meaningful and authentic narratives. Recently, Vik has also begun a new project called Wild Woman Gamer – a celebration of the inspiring women working and creating positive change, within the gaming community. Maja is an artist that creates interactive light installations and sculptures. She’s interested in how light appears in nature - especially it’s ability to evoke the sublime. She is known for creating interactive installations and sculptures that combine light, sound and cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, computer vision, and robotics to expand the multi-sensory apparatus through which art can be experienced.

Rachel also provides a recap of the opening week of fall softball, including her scoreless outing against National Pro Fastpitch team the USSSA Pride last Tuesday, and the group looks ahead to the Syracuse football game. Segment 2: Jack sits down with singer and songwriter Todd Rundgren, who is currently on the Notre Dame campus as an Artist in Residence. Rundgren has released over 20 albums during his recording career, and is well-know for the popular 1983 arena hit "Bang the Drum All Day." Rundgren has also toured with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band, and worked as a producer alongside Grand Funk Railroad and Meat Loaf. Rundgren will be performing live in concert at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center on Oct. 1. Segment 3: Jack and James talk with Notre Dame swimming head coach Mike Litzinger. Litzinger assumed control of both the men's and women's swimming programs in December of 2015, marking the first time since 1995 Notre Dame has had a combined swimming program. Litzinger previously served as head coach of both the men's and women's programs at the University of Utah (2000-07) after seven seasons as head women's coach at St. Bonaventure University (1989-1996). He was an assistant coach at the University of North Carolina from 2007-15, serving as associate head coach his final four seasons. Fry was named to the all-ACC second team in 2015 after being included on the conference's all-freshman squad during her first season.
