In this powerful episode of Can't Call Your Mom, Nicole sits down with Kristen to explore the complex layers of Mother's Day grief and the transformative journey of the motherless mother. Kristen shares her deeply personal experience of repressing mother loss for seven years, wearing "armor" to stay strong, until an existential crisis on her 40th birthday cracked her wide open.Kristen's breakthrough came through the power of writing. By leaning into curiosity, she realized that by numbing her grief, she had also blocked her capacity for joy. Through her debut memoir, Magenta Me, she moved through layers of subconscious programming and inner child work to find radical forgiveness and a new spiritual, co-creative relationship with her mother. As Kristen beautifully dedicates in her book:"For my mom. When I asked the light, it told me to write our beautiful love story. In the end, I found the light was you."Feeling to Heal: Understanding that you must feel the pain of loss to truly experience the heights of joy.The Spiritual Connection: Shifting from a physical absence to a spiritual presence where conversations with Mom continue through intuition and creativity.Breaking Generational Cycles: How healing our own wounds allows us to mother our children with more presence and emotional intelligence.Kristen Brandao hit forty and flipped the script on her life. She went from a highly anxious, emotionally burned-out, over-extended healthcare practitioner, wife and mother of two to owning her story, stepping into her creative power and re-writing the narrative in her midlife memoir Magenta Me. She credits her seven-year suppression of grief after the loss of her mother to the breakdown through which she discovered the portal back to curiosity, creativity and connection to self. She endeavours to share her story vulnerably with the world to inspire others to integrate their grief. Kristen's Book: Magenta Me launches on June 25th. Was it manifestation… or just a lucky night at bingo? In this playful solo episode of The Manifestation & Money Podcast, Jen shares a surprisingly synchronistic weekend story that had her questioning where coincidence ends and manifestation begins. What started as a lighthearted thought about winning at a school bingo night quickly turned into a series of moments that felt almost too perfectly timed to ignore. From playful intentions shared inside the Manifestation Playground, to multiple family bingo wins, to an unexpected Lego synchronicity involving her son Kasey — this episode explores the blurry line between luck, awareness, energy, and manifestation. Rather than trying to prove anything, Jen invites listeners into a bigger conversation: Does manifestation work because we believe it does? Are we simply noticing what aligns with our focus? Is life more fun when we allow room for wonder and possibility? This episode is a reminder that manifestation doesn't always need to feel heavy or serious. Sometimes the magic lives in play, curiosity, openness, and simply paying attention. In this episode: Why manifestation may feel easier when there's no pressure attached The role playfulness can have in intentional manifestation Coincidence vs synchronicity How your beliefs shape the evidence you notice Why kids naturally embody manifestation energy The surprising bingo night story that sparked this conversation ✨ Maybe it was manifestation. ✨ Maybe it was luck. ✨ Or maybe the mystery is part of the magic. If your leadership strategy still depends on being the smartest person in the room, AI is about to make that a painful game to play. We sit down with Chris Deaver, culture shaper, leadership coach, former HR leader with experience at Apple, Disney, and Pixar, and co-founder of Brave Core, to talk about what actually scales now: bravery, co-creation, and the skill of leading with questions. We unpack why fear is normal in a fast-changing world and how the “loss equation” fuels resistance to new technology, layoffs, and disruption. Chris shares how great leaders flip that script by focusing on purpose, stacking uniquely human strengths, and treating AI as augmented intelligence that clears the busywork so teams can do deeper creative work. We also get practical on what brave space really means: emotion is contagious, connection creates courage, and shared flow is possible even in everyday meetings when ego gets parked at the door. Along the way, we use memorable metaphors like the Avengers and the orchestra conductor to rethink what leadership looks like when your job is to bring out heroes around you. If you want a clear next step, start here: be the last one to speak, ask one better question, and invite the quietest voice in the room into the conversation. Subscribe, share this with a leader who needs it, and leave a review so more people can learn to lead with curiosity, courage, and care.
In this episode of DSP Chat, host Asheley Blaise delves into the power of appreciative inquiry in direct support work. When we shift from traditional 'fix-it' methods to approaches that emphasize listening, co-creation, and honoring the voices of individuals being supported we support the whole person. Emphasizing the importance of asking better questions, this episode invites listeners to reconsider the expert is in the DSP and person receiving services relationship, proposing partnership and co-creation over fixing and power over.Key Takeaways:Transformative Listening: Shift focus from behavior fixing to listening and acknowledging what is already working well for individuals.Co-Creation in Planning: True person-centered planning involves creating plans with individuals, prioritizing their voices and aspirations.Role Reflection: DSPs should reflect on arriving in their roles not as experts, but as partners sharing power with those they support.Problem-Solving vs. Potential-Dwelling: Focusing on potential rather than just challenges can lead to profound impacts on individuals' lives.Notable Quotes:"Co-creation begins when people's stories shape the agenda." - Baturu Mboge"Are you arriving as the expert or as the partner?" – Asheley Blaise"Appreciative inquiry is about refusing to let challenges become the whole story." – Asheley BlaiseConcluding this episode, Asheley Blaise invites listeners to reflect on their roles in direct support, urging them to shift from fixing behaviors to building partnerships based on listening and co-creating meaningful support plans. I just got back from the Customer Alpha event that was part of the broader FTT Embedded Finance, Payments, and Future Identity event, put on by VC Innovations. It was the first time I've spoken publicly about my concept of THE UN-WOW, focusing our efforts more on everyday mundane experiences rather than transformative metamorphic experiences. There is more to it than that, so stay tuned for updates as I work on a book on THE UN-WOW. While in London, I was able to go to the Tate Modern Art Museum. This was quite the shift after visiting museums in Florence with all of the Renaissance representational art. One of the interesting differences between the two is that the art in Florence often was made for patrons who were commissioning artwork, which ultimately was made to please those patrons. The art in the Tate often was made by artists who were trying to please themselves using art as a statement. As a result, the artists' statements became a key piece of looking at and understanding what the art was meant to represent and the response it was hoping to create. Regardless of whether sponsored representational or abstract and surreal, through art one can give external voice to one's internal dialogue to create a social experience. On today's episode of Experience by Design podcast, I welcome Ali Fawkes, the Head of Social Innovation at the social design firm Humanly. “Humanly is an award-winning design studio specializing in human-centered design for social impact.” On their website, they continue to describe themselves as, “specialising in inclusive, creative and participatory research and design with seldom-heard and underrepresented groups.” I came to learn about Ali and Humanly through a paper she co-authored on “Co-designing the Future of Respiratory Healthcare” in the journal CoDesign - the International Journal of CoCreation in Design and the Arts, detailing their work and approach. Ali is a self-described “art kid,” who found an outlet for her own voice. She went on to get a degree in Fine Art from the University of Kent, as well as additional certifications and degrees in Secondary Art and Special and Inclusive Education from the University of Cambridge. Ali describes co-design efforts she did with students during her work as a secondary school art teacher and educator in schools whose students had special needs. She describes her journey from that rewarding work to working with Humanly. We discuss how being an outsider with little knowledge about a setting or industry can be a real gift to having open eyes and ears to learn from people who are often not listened to. Ali discusses the ethical considerations and methodologies involved in working with underrepresented groups, emphasizing the importance of truthful representation and co-design approaches. We also discuss the importance of her artistic background as a source of challenging norms and disruption, leading to innovative approaches. And if doing social design and impact isn't enough heavy lifting, Ali also participates in strongperson competitions, lifting very heavy things and sometimes having to carry them across distances. Which is not unlike trying to lift complex problems and carry solutions forward. I always love good art talk on Experience by Design, and especially when it is connected to social impact. May 10, 2026Carlos Castaneda writes, “In the universe there is an immeasurable, indestructible force which shamans call intent, and everything that exists in the entire cosmos is attached to intent by a connecting link.” When we rest into this truth, we begin to sense that our highest intentions are always rooted in love—unselfish, expansive, and inclusive by nature. As we gently release our attachment to goal-driven striving, something beautiful unfolds. We shift from trying to acquire and possess, into a life inspired by expression, Presence, and offering. The human personality often asks, “What can I get?” But the spirit quietly wonders, “What can I give? What longs to be created, shared, and expressed through me?” This is why a spiritual life is not something we achieve, but something we embody through intention. Each loving intention becomes a doorway through which life can move. Speaker: Rev. Penny Macek Reverend Dr. Penny Macek has been a minister since 1999, serving communities across California, Arizona, and New York, and currently leads the Christ Church of Co-Creation in Caroga Lake, NY. Before ministry, she spent 17 years in the construction industry — a foundation she says now helps her "build lives rather than structures." Known as a principle-centered practitioner, she is recognized for facilitating deep healing through the principles of Science of Mind. In 2017, Centers of Spiritual Living awarded her an Honorary Doctorate.
"How do we work together?" While many leaders focus on working harder or working smarter, cultural strategist Ian Clawson joins Josh Seldin to argue that the most important question is how we co-create. Ian, the co-author of Brave Together, discusses why even high-performing teams can feel disconnected and how leaders can identify the "fear-based" behaviors—blame, complaining, and excuses—that stall growth. In this episode, you'll learn why a "safe space" isn't enough and how to build a "brave space" where the best ideas win. Josh and Ian explore the "Mirror Test" for leaders, the power of leading with curious questions, and how to balance the high standards of execution with the humanity required for long-term cultural health. Key Takeaways: ✅ Inclusion vs. Belonging: Understanding the organizational and individual roles in creating a connected team. ✅ The 3 Faces of Fear: How to spot blame, complaining, and excuses as indicators of underlying psychological barriers. ✅ Leading with Questions: Why the best leaders don't have all the answers and how to use curiosity as a strategic tool. ✅ The Mirror Test: Shifting the mindset from "What's wrong with them?" to "How must I change my approach?". ✅ Standards vs. Expectations: How to avoid the "suffocating" trap of micromanagement by focusing on directional standards. ✅ Co-Creation: Moving beyond the "lone wolf" executor mentality to design a better collective experience. Immersive experience designer and strategist Adipat Virdi joins host KJ to challenge the tech-first mindset that's dominated industries from entertainment to healthcare. Drawing on his work with Meta, the BBC, NASA, and Charlotte Tilbury, Adipat introduces his Empathy Engine Framework, a set of principles designed to close the gap between brands and audiences by putting human connection, meaning, and agency at the center of every experience. From redesigning how the BBC covered the Syrian refugee crisis to transforming how Nike sells sneakers, he makes a compelling case that without the "why," all the fancy technology is just expensive noise. Four Key Takeaways: [3:52] Technology is a veneer, not a foundation - Industries keep layering new tech onto old frameworks without asking why. As Adipat puts it: "Just because we can doesn't mean we should." Real innovation starts with understanding the human condition you're trying to shape or evolve. [8:50] The shift from buying to belonging - New generations don't want to be passive consumers. They want to be co-creators and collaborators. Brands that recognize this shift and build participatory experiences will win; those that don't will be ignored. [17:57]The Empathy Engine Framework in action - Adipat's framework rests on three core principles: audience protagonism (placing people inside the experience with moral complexity), ethical friction (making the story personally matter), and embodiment (creating choices that force meaningful self-reflection). Applied to a BBC project on Syrian refugees, the right thematic question drove a massive increase in engagement. [36:35] The Five Whys unlock the gold - Rooted in engineering but applicable everywhere, the Five Whys exercise gets to the root of any disconnect. Adipat's insight: it's not just the final answer that matters it’s "the discussion that comes out while they are realizing what the five why responses are, that's where the gold is." Quote of the Show (8:50):"It's now less about buying and more about belonging." — Adipat Virdi Join our Anti-PR newsletter where we’re keeping a watchful and clever eye on PR trends, PR fails, and interesting news in tech so you don't have to. Send Rachel a text message. If you've ever felt like you're “doing manifestation wrong”… this might shift everything. In this episode, we move beyond vision boards and wishful thinking to explore a deeper truth: You are not separate from what you're trying to manifest. We talk about: • why traditional manifestation (think The Secret) can feel limiting • how non-dual awareness changes everything • why language matters (“wanting” vs. “being”) • how to actually work with the field instead of waiting on it • the power of synchronicities as confirmation—not coincidenceThis is manifestation without pressure, performance, or perfection.

About This EpisodeThis episode marks the return of Mythic after a year and a half — and what a place to come back from. I recorded this conversation live at Pachalegria, a retreat and healing center in Zipolite, Mexico, at the close of my first men's tantra retreat. The man who led it — and built the place — is sitting right next to me.Martin Bilodeau is a Québécois public figure, social psychologist, and bestselling author of Awaken Your Inner Buddha, A Practical Guide to Modern Tantrism and Chronicles of an Urban Buddhist (all currently available in French). His path runs through indigenous shamanism, Tibetan Buddhism, and Tantrism, with lineages from Osho, Yogi Bhajan, and Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. He spent half his life in India, Asia, and traveling the world before founding Pachalegria in 2020.This is Martin's first English-language podcast. What We CoverWe use Martin's framework of four spiritual emergencies as Ariadne's thread into the labyrinth — not naming all four explicitly, but tracing the arc of a life spent following the thread of awakening from Buddhism into shamanism, Tantra, and finally into the act of building a living vision on a hillside in southern Mexico.Along the way we explore:Buddhism and the Inner World. Martin discovered Buddhism at 17 through the books of Alexandra David-Néal, the first Western woman to walk into Tibet. He consecrated his twenties to practice — two hours of meditation a day, temple visits in India and Nepal, annual retreats. But the real challenge wasn't the monastery. It was bringing the Dharma into daily modern life.Bodhicitta and the Belief That Changes Everything. The teaching that cracked Martin open: compassion as a way of seeing the world, not a feeling you wait to receive. The ego sees the world as something to take from. Compassion asks what you can bring. That single reorientation — from appetite to offering — underpins everything Martin does. Why "Emergency"? Martin spent nearly 15 years managing services for homeless, addicted, and delinquent youth in Québec. What he saw confirmed it: every wound is a wound of unlove. Every act of harm is a cry for it. If all our damage is created by the absence of love, love is the only thing that will heal it. That's not romantic. It's urgent.Tantra and the Body. We've never been more disconnected from our bodies than we are now. The body is always in the present moment — it's the mind that escapes. Tantra is the path that reconnects them: through breath, sensation, movement, and the radical act of feeling rather than managing life. The Minotaur in the Labyrinth. One of the most vivid mythic images in our conversation: the Minotaur as kundalini, as primal life force — not a monster to be slain but an energy that got trapped by the engineered maze of the mind. Daedalus built the labyrinth with his head. The Minotaur didn't need to be killed. It needed to be freed. And what frees it? Ariadne's love.Shame as a Control Mechanism. We were once invocators — beings who danced, screamed, and loved their way back to the divine. Then came 2,000 years of ideology that installed shame between us and our own bodies, our own power, our own direct experience of the sacred. Capitalism inherited that structure and kept it running. The antidote isn't permission. It's sovereignty. The King and Queen Were Never Meant to Rule Alone. Every true mythology pairs masculine and feminine — active and receptive, power and love, strength and empathy. A ruler disconnected from the soul force — the virgin princess in the tower, the yin inside — becomes narcissistic and abusive. Power without love is abuse. Love without power is passivity. They were always meant to be together.Shiva-Shakti and Cocreation. The feminine-masculine dynamic isn't about gender — it's about listening before acting, being receptive to what the world is telling you before you move. Martin guides groups this way: 70% listening intuitively before he leads. The Shiva-Shakti principle is the composition of wisdom.Zipolite and the Living Dream. And then there's the place itself — the last bohemian village, a hillside above the Pacific where people have been living freely since the early 1970s. No rules, no structure, naked on the beach at night, no violence. LGBT community, hippies, artists, locals, expats, tourists — all coexisting. The New York Times writes about it every year. And into this, Martin has built a utopia. Not finished. Expanding. Buying land, building with stones so the iguanas keep their nests, preserving what's real before the commercial wave arrives. We close with Joseph Campbell's line — dreams are private myths, myths are collective dreams — and the question it raises: what is the shared dream we're missing right now? What would it look like to stop begging for meaning from the outside and start imposing a little vision on reality? This is that conversation.Chapter Timestamps0:00 Welcome Back to Mythic — Recording Live from Zipolite, Mexico01:00 Introducing Martin Bilodeau: Author, Social Psychologist, Tantric Guide02:00 Pachalegria: "I Created Boston" — On Being Recreated by a Place02:30 The Four Spiritual Emergencies as Ariadne's Thread03:00 First Emergency: Buddhism — Alexandra David-Néal and the Call of Tibet04:00 Consecrating to the Path: Two Hours of Meditation, Temple Visits, Annual Retreats05:00 Bringing the Dharma into Daily Life — The Real Challenge06:00 Bodhicitta: The Belief That Changes Everything07:00 Ego as Attachment and Aversion — vs. Compassion as a Way of Seeing08:00 "The Best Way to Feel Love Is to Love"09:00 Why It's an Emergency: 15 Years with Homeless and Addicted Youth10:00 Putting Love Back at the Center — The Heart vs. the Mind11:00 The Mind as Dissector; Love as Radical Return to Essence13:00 Om Mani Padme Hum: Compassion as the Ultimate Protection14:00 Tantra and the Body: The Body as Portal to the Present Moment16:00 We Were Never This Disconnected From Our Bodies17:00 Mexico as Sensual Reconnection — Sweat, Stone Walls, Fish from the Ocean19:00 The Tantra Workshop at Pachalegria: Movement, Community, Breath20:00 The Minotaur in the Labyrinth — Kundalini as Primal Life Force21:00 Ariadne's Love: What Guides Us Back to Our Own Power22:00 Freeing the Minotaur: The Primal Force Needs to Devour the Ego, Not the Self24:00 The Real Fear Is Not Powerlessness — It's Power25:00 Leaving the US: The Machinery of Fear and Division, Seen from the Outside26:00 Shame as a Tool of Control: From Invocators to Beggars for Salvation28:00 Capitalism Inherits the Shame Structure of Religion29:00 "Where Is the Adult?" — Outsourcing Dignity and the Crisis of Sovereignty30:00 The Father Archetype and the Dearth of Authentic Leadership31:00 The King and Queen Were Never Meant to Rule Alone — Mythology as Template32:00 The Knight and the Princess: The Soul as the Virgin in the Tower33:00 Power Without Love Is Abusive. Welcome to episode #1026 of Thinking With Mitch Joel (formerly Six Pixels of Separation). At a time when strategy has become a kind of corporate theater… carefully crafted presentations, ambitious roadmaps and bold declarations that rarely survive first contact with reality… Kevin Ertell has spent a career focused on the harder question: why execution so often fails. Kevin is the Founder and CEO of Mistere Advisory and a veteran operator whose three decades of experience include leading large-scale retail and e-commerce operations at global brands like Nike, Sur La Table, Borders, and Tower Records. Over the years he has developed a reputation as a straight-talking advisor who helps leaders turn complexity into clarity and ambition into measurable results. His work spans industries including technology, healthcare, retail, consumer goods and manufacturing, where he focuses on helping organizations align teams, simplify priorities and build the operating rhythms required to deliver on their plans. In his new book, The Strategy Trap - Why Companies Fail at Execution and How to Get It Right, Kevin draws on decades of frontline experience to tackle a frustrating reality of modern business: most strategies don't fail on paper… they fail in the real world. Through practical frameworks like his Six Cs of Execution (Co-creation, Clarity, Capacity, Communication, Coordination and Coaching) he argues that strategy and execution must begin in the same room, with teams co-creating the plan and committing to disciplined follow-through. Kevin explores how incentives shape behavior, why organizations must slow down to create clarity before accelerating, and how leadership cultures built around coaching and collaboration can unlock real momentum. Grounded in operational experience rather than theory, his work reframes strategy not as a planning exercise but as a team sport that requires alignment, accountability and relentless focus on execution. Barbara Marx Hubbard (born Barbara Marx; December 22, 1929 – April 10, 2019), American futurist, author, and public speaker. She is credited with The Wheel of Co-Creation 2.0 and concepts of "The Synergy Engine"[1] and the "birthing" of humanity.[2] Early life and education A Jewish agnostic,[3] Barbara Marx was the first of four children of Irene (née Saltzman) and Louis Marx, a toy maker. In her youth she attended the Dalton School in New York City. She studied at L'Ecole des Sciences Politiques at La Sorbonne in Paris during her junior year of college,[4] and received a B.A. cum laude in Political Science from Bryn Mawr College in 1951.[5] In 1951, as well, she married artist Earl Hubbard, whom she'd met in Paris in 1949. They settled in Connecticut and started a family. Career As an author, speaker, and co-founder and president of the Foundation for Conscious Evolution, Hubbard posited that humanity was on the threshold of a quantum leap if newly emergent scientific, social, and spiritual capacities were integrated to address global crises.[citation needed] She was the author of seven books on social and planetary evolution. In conjunction with the Shift Network, she co-produced the worldwide "Birth 2012" multimedia event.[6] She was the subject of a biography by author Neale Donald Walsch, The Mother of Invention: The Legacy of Barbara Marx Hubbard and the Future of "YOU".[7] Deepak Chopra called her "the voice for conscious evolution".[8] Hubbard was an American modern-day female futurist. Throughout her life, she had questioned what would make life easier as well as make people happy. For Hubbard, she did not like the molds that were expected out of herself as well as others, and in the 1970s she started speaking at futurist conferences about her findings. Those aided in her interest to the movement and resulted in her attending, speaking at, and creating conferences. With that, she dedicated her life to sharing the potential today's modern world has in achieving a better society and came up with the idea of "birthing" humanity.[9] In 1998, she had written and published a successful book titled “Conscious Evolution: Awakening the Power of Our Social Potential".[10] which was about her futurist ideas in making a better society as well as focusing on what the conscious mind can do if it is aware of its power. Hubbard went as far as creating her own organization called the Committee for the Future and later created others such as Women of Vision in Action, The Alliance for the Advancement of Conscious Evolution as well as 7 others.[11] Hubbard helped set modern futurism into momentum and took measures to make sure the ideas continued beyond her.[12] She also co-chaired a number of Soviet-American Citizen Summits, introducing a new concept called "SYNCON" to foster synergistic convergence with opposing groups. In addition, she co-founded the World Future Society, and the Association for Global New Thought.[13] Personal life and death Hubbard's daughter Alexandra Morton is a marine biologist and her sister Patricia Ellsberg was married to the Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg.[14] Hubbard fell ill with knee swelling on April 3, 2019, and was taken to the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado, to receive treatment. She was later sent to the hospital emergency room. On April 6, a doctor reported that she had not woken from treatment easily and her condition continued to worsen. On April 8, Hubbard expressed that she was preparing to leave and died on April 10.[15]

Erika also opens up about her professional journey, offering tactical advice for those looking to break into the sports industry, the importance of trusting your intuition, and how she balances the demands of a high-profile executive role with being a mother. IN THIS EPISODE The Evolution of "Maximalism": Erika traces HOKA's journey from being "counter-culture" in a minimalist era to leading the industry with its focus on solving the problem of running downhills faster. Scaling with Soul: How the brand reached its $2 billion revenue milestone while maintaining core values like curiosity and inclusivity. Marketing via Experience: Why Erika believes experiential marketing is the most powerful tool for building emotional connections and lasting memories with consumers. Co-Creation over Control: Shifting the marketing narrative from "talking at people" to "world-building" alongside the running community. Career "Harmony": Erika's perspective on rejecting the myth of work-life balance in favor of finding a daily "harmony" that allows for both professional leadership and motherhood. QUOTABLE MOMENTS On Marketing & Community "It’s not about controlling the narrative ... it’s much more about embracing that idea of co-creation. It’s a shift from talking at people to being in a space where we’re doing more world-building." "In terms of greatest brand building, it comes from an experience because it evokes a memory ... that memory evokes emotion, and that’s what always is going to bring people back to a brand." "The work is never done. We can talk about ourselves all day long, but if it's not directly drawn to that consumer insight and how we're solving problems for them, it's not going to pass the bar." On Leadership & Intuition "The paranoid survive. You're always looking around corners to where there's opportunity but also where there's risk. Part of that to me is also tied to trusting your intuition." "It's not always the loudest voice in the room, it's not always the most senior voice in the room that is sharing the right paths or the right ideas." "The only person that's truly going to bet on you is you. Have the inner confidence to know that. You won't know until you try, and sometimes you won't know until you fail and you try again." On Life "Harmony" "I stopped looking for balance a few years ago. I think it's unrealistic. I switched my language into finding harmony. Harmony is about the acknowledgment that I’m not going to be perfect at all the roles I have to play, and that’s okay." What if your journey from poverty to six countries was shaped by stepping stones of relationships? In this episode, Ghazenfer Mansoor shares how Technology Rivers helps health tech companies build HIPAA compliant software products and helps healthcare service businesses 10x their operations through AI and technology. With a computer science background and experience building a recruitment SaaS company, Ghazenfer started Technology Rivers with one core philosophy: build it right the first time. Too many founders hire developers and end up with never-ending products that keep building but never launch. His team focuses on helping startups with limited money build the right MVP so they can get traction, get customers, and secure more funding. The work creates a double bottom line: supporting businesses solving world problems while creating opportunities and livelihoods for people across six countries. He reveals that his journey wasn't shaped by one person, but by stepping stones of relationships. Growing up in Pakistan in poverty, mentors and friends guided him toward education and opportunities that eventually brought him to the US. Coaches, entrepreneurial groups like EO, and books like "Who Not How" all shaped his direction. The most powerful story? Exchanging business cards at a conference. Months later, that person called about a project. Over six years, that one card exchange generated close to $2 million in business. [00:05:20] What Technology Rivers Does Software development business serving health tech companies primarily Started helping all verticals but gradually focused just on health tech Help companies build HIPAA compliant software products Work with healthcare service businesses, help them 10x operations through AI and technology [00:06:00] Build It Right the First Time Wanted to fix problem of never-ending products that keep building but never launch Companies hiring developers with products that are never ending Founders have limited money, need to build right MVP to get traction and funding Help startups build products right the first time so they're not broke if it doesn't work [00:08:00] Creating Double Bottom Line Impact Help companies create solutions that solve world's problems Every founder working with them is solving something, changing the world Also creating opportunities for people supporting those projects Team in six different countries, many in growing economies, creating livelihoods [00:10:20] AI is the Biggest Shift Started career in early web, but AI is even much bigger shift Mind blowing how things are moving, but also creating opportunities Much easier now for people who want to create companies and solutions AI not just solving existing problems but bringing new problems to solve [00:12:00] Journey Shaped by Series of Relationships Not just one person, journey shaped by series of relationships as stepping stones Growing up in Pakistan, mentor guided him to take risky opportunity That opportunity created by colleague in same company Friend said "you have to do your master's degree" when Ghazenfer only had diploma [00:13:00] From Poverty to Possibility Friend showed the path, arranged meeting, pushed toward higher education Was in poverty, didn't have means for education People supported along the way giving opportunities on jobs or introducing to something Each opportunity helped get to next step [00:13:40] Coming to the United States Would not have been in US without those opportunities Friend introduced to recruiter who was recruiting for company in US Coach helped see certain things in way he hadn't seen before Entrepreneurial groups (EO, Vistage forums) helped shape journey [00:14:40] Books That Shaped Direction "The Great Game of Business" by Jack Stack - partnership made based on this book "Who Not How" by Dan Sullivan - amazing book "What Got You Here Won't Get You There" by Marshall Goldsmith "How to Win Friends and Influence Others" by Dale Carnegie [00:15:40] Taking the Leap Created own podcast, started speaking engagements Wrote first book "Beyond the Download: How to Build Mobile Apps That People Love, Use, and Share Every Day" Now writing another book All these people contributed to growth, wouldn't be fair to point to just one person [00:19:20] Clients as Partners and Coaches Client gave guidance and tips that helped do things in certain way Coaching came directly from client to team: "If you do it this way, this would help me" Relationship with clients has always been as partners Client guided in terms of how to do things, shaped development effort [00:22:00] Co-Creation is Key Software development and product development can only work if co-creating Not about giving instructions and just doing it Believe in co-creation as collaborative effort Client comes with idea, have to discuss, brainstorm, come up with right way [00:23:40] Challenging in a Positive Way Someone said "you would challenge our client's business approaches" Don't challenge their decision, communicate and make sure they hear alternate options Challenge in positive way: "Have you thought about this alternate option?" Show three ways of doing something with one recommendation [00:24:40] Three Options, One Recommendation Not making decision for client, letting client make decision Giving enough information to make the decision If only give one option and it doesn't go well, it's a problem Software products need that product approach with enough guidance and information [00:27:00] The Power of Physical Business Cards At conferences, people say "Who uses cards nowadays?" Challenge: Once you leave a conference, how do you remember who you connected with? If just connect on LinkedIn, no reference left when you have thousands of contacts Physical cards are cheaper and provide tangible reminder [00:27:40] The $2 Million Card Exchange Years ago at conference, sitting with someone, exchanged cards Few months later, guy called: "We were on same table, you gave me your card" Working on global software project, needed help Got that project, then partner introduced them to another company [00:28:40] Six Years of Business from One Card After six months of work, got another project, then another one Over six years timeframe, got close to $2 million in business From that one card exchange From that point, focused on improving quality of card and keeps bunch with him [00:29:20] Cards Keep You Top of Mind Cards are cheap but provide reminder when back at home or office In sales they talk about follow ups: be in front of people at right time Traditional way but works for Ghazenfer Still keeps bunch with him all the time [00:36:20] Be the Go-To Person Book "Networking is Not Working" by Derek Coburn resonated Want to be go-to person for anything - even if someone needs a plumber Are you the person who's connected to many that friends always call? If you are that person, makes huge difference KEY QUOTES "Software development, product development can only work if you are co-creating something. If the clients are giving instructions, then we're just like everybody else, then we are not really doing our work. We believe in co-creation." - Ghazenfer Mansoor "You wanna be the go-to person for anything. If somebody even needs a plumber, who do they call? Are you the person who's connected to many that your friends are always calling you?" - Ghazenfer Mansoor (quoting Derek Coburn) CONNECT WITH GHAZENFER MANSOOR

EPISODE 231 In a previous blog post and podcast entitled, The New Paradigm of the 4 Cs, I introduced the 4 C's of (1) Connection; (2) Cooperation; (3) Collaboration; and (4) Co-Creation, that are the new world paradigm for building meaningful personal and business relationships that shape the present and the future. Then I discussed the first concept of the 4C's, Connection in another blog post and podcast. Next, I discussed the second concept of the 4C's, Cooperation in another blog post and podcast. Next, I discussed the third concept of the 4C's, Collaboration in another blog post and podcast. In this blog post and podcast, I discuss the final concept of the 4C's, Co-Creation. Co-creation is the highest expression of human partnership. Co-creation is not just working together. Co-creation is becoming creators together. With Co-creation, boundaries blur and ideas merge. What emerges is something no single person could have imagined or created alone. Co-Creation gives birth to positive results and positive transformations. How can you practice Co-creation in your own life? Participating in and embracing Co-creation within the framework of the 4C's creates a positive impact in your own life and in the lives of those you co-create with. In this blog post and podcast, we go deeper on the third concept of the 4C's, Collaboration. Collaboration goes far beyond cooperation. Collaboration sparks the creativity. While cooperation aligns efforts, Collaboration combines individual strengths to produce something new. It is synergy, where the whole, the Collaboration end product becomes greater than the sum of its parts. How can you practice the concept of Collaboration in your own life? Within the New Paradigm of the 4 Cs, Collaboration, is not merely about working together, it is about unlocking collective brilliance, elevating individual contributions and preparing the conditions where co-creation becomes not only possible, but inevitable. Experiencing, acknowledging and embracing Collaboration creates a positive impact in your own life and in the lives of those you collaborate with.
