We're back on the Grant Morrison JLA run which means we are back to COMPLICATED RECAPS. This time we have a relatively simple 2 issue story of the JLA vs a corrupt general and his Ultramarines! There's only like 6 new characters in this, so --- not too complex! But whoops then we have the 4 part story "Crisis TIme Five." In this story, there is an invasion from the fifth dimension which somehow leads to the JLA teaming up with their older Golden Age counterparts the Justice Society of America. You've got a 2-dimensional Shazam and Green Lantern arguing in a 5-D courtroom, and also Zauriel the JLA Angel speeding up time for a tiny civilzation so that he can free the Spectre. Also: robot mobsters, a couple of genies, alternate timeline JLA people, Superman getting knocked out, talking banks (like, the building) and I think a little of the New Gods too. Standard fare Morrison!
Tik-Tok of Oz by L. Frank Baum audiobook. In this really exciting and well written story of Oz, the Shaggy Man is on a quest to find his long lost brother. But all does not go smoothly. Oh no. Because his brother is being held prisoner deep underground by the evil, grumpy and not very nice King of the Gnomes, Along the way to find him, he is joined by Polychrome, a Daughter of the Rainbow (a fairy), Betsy Bobbin (a human girl), Hank (a small mule and Betsy's faithful protector), Tik-Tok (the famous wind up mechanical man), the Rose Princess (an ex fairy who is now a mortal), Ann (the Queen of the Oogaboos on her way to conquer the world), her army (17 officers and one private, File), a tunnel through the earth, the famous and all powerful Jin-Jin and last but definitely not least, Quox (a young dragon who talks funny and was great fun to read). The scrapes and adventures this motley crew get into are enough to fill a book. And this is the book. Listen and enjoy!!
The Shaggy Man of Oz by Jack Snow audiobook. "During the past few years, several readers have written me asking: "What ever happened to the Nome King's tunnel under the Deadly Desert?" The answer will be found in this book. Everyone who has read the Oz books knows and loves Shaggy. He first met Dorothy in "The Road To Oz," and from that time on had a number of adventures in which he discovered such famous Oz personages as the Patchwork Girl, Ojo, Unk Nunkie, the Glass Cat, Betsy Bobbin and her Mule Hank, and many others. So, it is about time that the Shaggy Man had an Oz book all his own—and here it is—faithfully recorded from the latest messages received from the Land of Oz."

Relax by the Fireplace with Joey and let him read you a story set to sleep-inducing music and ambient sound. Nox is your Safe space at bedtime to relax, feel safe, and get a good night's sleep. On tonight's episode, I read a funny good news story about a man who became homesick and decided to ship himself in a crate from Australia to Wales only to end up in Las Angeles California. Then we have tonight's story called Glinda of Oz Peace, prosperity, and happiness are the rule in the marvelous Land of Oz, but in a faraway corner of this magical domain dwell two tribes--the Flatheads and the Skeezers--who have declared war on each other. Determined to keep her subjects from fighting, the Ruler of Oz, Princess Ozma, along with her dearest friend, Princess Dorothy Gale (formerly of Kansas), embarks on a quest to restore peace. When the Supreme Dictator of the Flatheads refuses to cooperate with Ozma, she and Dorothy seek out Queen Coo-ee-oh of the Skeezers, hoping she will be more reasonable. But the queen imprisons Ozma and Dorothy in her grand city and then traps them by submerging the whole city underwater. Now it is up to Glinda the Good to save the day. She assembles all of Ozma's counselors--including such beloved Oz friends as the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, Cowardly Lion, Patchwork Girl, Shaggy Man, Tik-Tok, and Wizard of Oz--and they set out to rescue their friends. Will the magic powers of Glinda and the Wizard combined be enough to free Ozma and Dorothy? “Will you come with me, sweet Reader? I thank you. Give me your hand.” -Joey Please subscribe and leave a 5-star rating on Apple Podcasts. Follow Me: I work very very hard on these please help support this program on Patreon. Tik-Tok of Oz - L. Frank Baum - Book 8 Title: Tik-Tok of Oz Overview: Tik-Tok of Oz is the eighth Land of Oz book written by L. Frank Baum, published on June 19, 1914. The book has little to do with Tik-Tok and is primarily the quest of the Shaggy Man (introduced in The Road to Oz) to rescue his brother and his resulting conflict with the Nome King. The endpapers of the first edition held maps: one of Oz itself, and one of the continents on which Oz and its neighboring countries belonged. These were the first maps printed of Oz. The Oz books form a book series that begins with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900) and relates the fictional history of the Land of Oz. Oz was created by author L. Frank Baum, who went on to write fourteen full-length Oz books. Even while he was alive, Baum was styled as "the Royal Historian of Oz" in order to emphasize the concept that Oz is an actual place. In his Oz books, Baum created the illusion that characters such as Dorothy and Princess Ozma relayed their adventures in Oz to Baum themselves, by means of a wireless telegraph. Justice League of America #186 (1981)So, Elongated Man gets monitor duty on the JLA Satellite and makes a peanut butter & swiss cheese sandwich because apparently he can bend his stomach so he doesn’t throw up. Or maybe he’s just one of those guys who do that thing you would do in high school where you would down ALL the condiments mixed today because you’re the resident crazy kid.Anyway, some Russians show up to ask the JLA for help with the Shaggy Man who is currently terrorizing Moscow. "Assam & Darjeeling" is the story of two children who set out to rescue their dead mother from the Underworld -- a nightmare place where the mythological desperately tries to keep pace with the world above. The children encounter cell-phone carrying demons, forgotten deities from defunct pantheons waiting tables, and one nasty character called Juniper who takes a particular, personal interest in their quest. In the third chapter of Book Three, the Shaggy Man puts his pencil to work and the children quarrel over wine before dinner.
