Nicholas Pepin of Pop Culture Roulette and Laramy Wells from Moving Panels join me to talk about the humanoid feline aliens! In the issue #41 story ‘Footprints' from 1987, Cat's Lair is directly in the path of a creature called the Metokangmi! King Hanuman of Hook Mountain warns the ThunderCats, describing the destruction and fear in the creature's wake. Every Rammastide (the Third Earth equivalent of Christmas which commemorates the first defeat of Mumm-Ra) the inhabitants live in fear. Fortunately, this year Cat's Lair reminds the Metokangmi of its lost mate, and it just builds a snowman.Subsequently, issue #89 sees WilyKit and WilyKat build a snowman in the shape of Lion-O. Of course, the Mutants decide to crash the ThunderCats' Rammastide festivities, knocking over the snowman. Luckily, the intruder alarm alerted the heroes who quickly hid as snow sculptures and overtake the foes. The heroes then invite them in to celebrate.Finally, in issue #128, Snarf is home alone preparing a feast on Rammas Eve, when a traveling salesman tries to cash in. The sidekick tries to haggle with him, making a huge mess. As the ThunderCats return, they invite Snarf and the salesman to the Tower of Omens for Rammastide.Fierce beasts? Yep. Crazy art? Uh huh. Jordan A. Wilson, born in Cincinnati, OH, and raised in Carrollton, KY, is a dynamic artist blending nostalgic rhythms with fresh originality. A self-taught guitarist, he began playing at 14, performing solo, in church, and at talent shows. Over the years, Jordan became a key figure in the Cincinnati music scene, collaborating with artists like Joseph Nevels (now Los Angeles), Lauren Eylise, and as a member of KNOTTS, while also leading his own band, the Jordan Wilson Coalition.Base in Madison, IN, the Coalition fuses Blues, Alt-Rock, R&B, Soul, and Funk-what Jordan calls "Alt-Blues, Rock "N' Soul". The sound has been described as a blend of Bill Withers and Jimi Hendrix, sprinkled with some alt-rock seasoning. Today’s episode is special because there is a special guest, actress and content creator Givonnie Samuels joins Jerrilyn and Lynee’ on the She Said It First Podcast. Before getting into their discussion, the women talk about a variety of topics. Jerrilyn and Lynee’, along with Giovonnie Samuels, speak about clubbing in your thirties. Do you still go to the club and if you do, what type of clubs are you going to. They also speak about friendships and the age gap between them. Do all of your friends have to be close to your age or can they be older or younger. This led to a conversation about embracing your femininity and how Giovonnie found her femininity. Giovonnie opens up about her divorce and being single as well as navigating in this new content creator space. Samuels also talks about being a child actor and having to make that transition and how it is different in this social media space. Last, but not least, Giovonnie stayed to help Jerrilyn and Lynee’ give some advice as Unlicensed Professionals. Playing a Thundercat song on SBL wasn't something I had on my bingo card at the beginning of the year, but that's exactly what happened! I had a blast shooting the video and was (in a very rare instance for me) quite happy with the performance. I think it was a product of being surprised by the material, feeling comfortable around the crew, and just letting it happen. 1985 was quickly becoming one of the most competitive years in the history of animation, setting the stage for future 80s nostalgia. There were so many classic 80s cartoons released in 1985-- including a unique new series called ThunderCats--that it was going to be difficult to stand out. But fortunately, the production company behind the new show knew a thing or two about capturing the attention of kids, as they had been doing it during the holidays for decades. But now, they were moving to after-school and Saturday morning cartoons.  From the studio that brought us beloved Christmas classics like Rudolph and Frosty came the story of a race of humanoid feline superheroes.
