Our guest this week is Thundercat, and we couldn't have picked a better one to mark our 500th episode. The Los Angeles-born bassist, vocalist, and producer has built a reputation as one of the most gifted and distinctive voices in contemporary music, an artist who has never been content to stay in one place, with a body of work that pulls from funk, jazz, soul, and avant-garde R&B. A Grammy Award-winner whose collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus, and the late Mac Miller have made him as celebrated on other people's records as his own, with his records ‘Drunk' and ‘It Is What It Is' standing as benchmarks of his solo work. Last month, he released Distracted, his first album in six years, and he's currently in Australia on tour in support. On today's episode, Thundercat joins us to discuss what it felt like to come back with a new record after such a long absence, the qualities he seeks out in a collaborator, and the deeply personal process behind She Knows Too Much, made in conjunction with Mac Miller's estate.Thundercat : Instagram / Spotify / WebsiteVisit our official website here and follow us across our socials.
On this episode, we take James on another old school cartoon adventure. Does he hear the roar of the ThunderCats or does it fall flat on its face? Enjoy.

Episode 104: Kamasi Washington Kamasi Washington is one of the most important voices in modern jazz. A saxophonist, composer, and bandleader from Los Angeles, he has helped shape the sound of contemporary music through his solo work and collaborations with artists like Kendrick Lamar, Thundercat, Dinner Party, Flying Lotus, Andre 3000, Terrace Martin, and Robert Glasper. In this episode of Go With Elmo, Kamasi sits down for a deep conversation about his journey, from growing up in Los Angeles with the greatest young talents all around him to becoming a central figure in a global movement of jazz, hip-hop, and beyond. The LA music scene, the importance of community, and the foundation of the West Coast Get Down collective all come into focus. Kamasi breaks down the West Coast Get Down and the musicians involved, including Thundercat, Ronald Bruner Jr., Cameron Graves, Brandon Coleman, Ryan Porter, Patrice Quinn, Miles Mosley, and Tony Austin, and how that group helped define a new sound coming out of Los Angeles. Kamasi explains why he often performs with multiple drummers and multiple bassists, how he builds such powerful live ensembles, and what it takes to lead large groups of musicians on stage and in the studio. The conversation dives into Kamasi's work on Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly, the creative energy of those sessions, how he got the call for the Kendrick gig from Terrace, and their continued connection over time. More recent collaborations like “Luther” and “TV Off” are discussed, along with Kendrick referencing him by name in the lyric “keep a horn on me, that Kamasi,” a moment that reflects his influence across genres. Making his landmark albums The Epic, Heaven and Earth, and Harmony of Difference are explored, along with his approach to jazz saxophone, composition, improvisation, and bandleading. His broader work as a composer, including Becoming and Lazarus, adds to the scope of his career and creative output. The conversation goes deep into music philosophy, creativity, and meaning, including Kamasi's belief that music is bigger than genre and can communicate ideas beyond words. Fatherhood, inspiration, and the evolution of his perspective all play a role in shaping his current work. This is a wide-ranging talk about music, culture, leadership, and the journey of becoming one of the defining artists of this generation. I hope you enjoy watching my hang with the great, Kamasi Washington! Big thanks to our friends Ace Studio for supporting the show. It's Friday and the Big Shot Bob crew is back with Episode 131 of Shoot Around — the weekly bonus show where Robert Horry, Rob Jenners, and B-Dog Brandon Harper dig into the questions YOU send in and whatever's on their minds. This week kicks off with a debate born from the new Michael Jackson biopic hitting theaters: Start, Bench, Cut — MJ era edition. The Thriller era (1982–85), the Bad era (1987–89), and the Dangerous era (1991–94) are all on the table. Which era do you start? Which do you bench? Which do you cut? The guys break down their picks, argue over the greatest MJ music videos of all time (Smooth Criminal vs. Remember the Time), debate whether Chris Tucker was actually IN Smooth Criminal (he wasn't), and Harper goes deep on the Ghost mini-movie that almost nobody's seen. The verdict? Unanimous love for Thriller, but serious disagreement on whether Bad or Dangerous gets the bench. Then the guys jump into the all-time greatest NBA coaches debate, sparked by Pat Riley making it clear at 81 years old that he has zero plans to retire or step aside. Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Gregg Popovich, Don Nelson, Lenny Wilkins, Red Auerbach — who makes the cut? Robert Horry gives a unique firsthand perspective on Phil Jackson, including the detail that Phil literally never spoke to him during their championship runs together. There's also the Del Harris comparison — same roster, completely different results — and what that says about coaching being as much about managing personalities as drawing up plays. A Reddit user's anti-tanking beer pricing proposal gets a quick airing, and then the crew weighs in on Diego Pavia going undrafted after representing himself at the NFL Draft — no agent, no deal. Robert Horry reflects on firing his own agent in 2001 and what he missed out on off the court despite winning six championships, and the guys debate whether being your own representative ever actually works when you're already fighting an uphill battle. To close things out, a fan question about the best superhero shows ever made opens up a great conversation about Invincible (currently must-watch TV), The Boys, Smallville, The Flash, Dragon Ball Z, the upcoming Mortal Kombat film, and a He-Man movie trip that Robert Horry is already planning with his son. Plus — the case for a live-action Thundercats reboot that the world is clearly not ready for.

Welcome to this week's episode of Trve. Cvlt. Pop! We hope you enjoy it. We're pretty sure you will, as this week Steve nad Gaz are joined by Pop, Collaborate & Listen's Dave Fensome to celebrate 30 year's since Alice in Chains recorded their now legendary MTV Unplugged session. From the troubles the band faced getting their shit together in the mid-90's; drug issues, the lack of touring, their fractured relationship with the press and each other, you'd have thought it almost impossible that Alice in Chains would be able to rework some of their finest ever material into the acoustic format. But on the 10th of April 1996 at the Majestic Theatre in Brooklyn, they did exactly that. Little did we know it would mark the end of the classic line up of the band, and a swansong from frontman Layne Stayley, and go on to be spoken about as once of the greatest ever live music broadcasts in history. We go through the entire story, from the troubles getting it made to the tragic aftermath, and give our take, track by track, of the entire performance. There's also chat about new music from Thundercat, Of the Trees, Slayyyter, The Scratch and The Math Rock Clangers... I mean Angine de Poitrine and live reports on President and Ignite.
Growing up in Rochester, New York, Chaun Horton was birthed into a love of music. Under the tutelage of his father, a church organist, Chaun first learned his craft by playing for local choirs, then events throughout the state. Chaun's desire to expand on his work led him to LA, where he attended a camp held by the LA Music Academy College of Music. Chaun soon found himself enrolling in the school on a full scholarship, where he earned a Certificate of Completion. Chaun has had the privilege of sharing the stage with artist such as Macy Gray, Natasha Bedingfield, Israel Houghton, , Toni Braxton, Thundercat, Jessica Simpson, and many more. In this episode, Chaun talks about: Moving home base from LA to Sweden and establishing a “camp base” in Nashville How the Lauren Daigle gig came his way Learning not to “take advantage of music” - “you've gotta be interested in it” What it means to “play in the crossroads” Setting professional goals based on how you want to feel at work Learning how to have some stoic detachment when necessary Getting to have a “garage band experience” with Lauren Daigle Here's our Patreon Here's our Youtube Here's our Homepage

Ben is still recovering so the three Musketeers are at it again. Scot takes us on a trip across the galaxy and comic book history as we look at what might just be the first ever comic book crossover super team. Avengers? Justice League? Never heard of em. Make mine: Defenders of the Earth. These guys are so old school, Scot has to explain where the term "Pulp" Action Heroes comes from! Going a little less further back in time, Trent debuts a new segment called "From the Archives" where we delve into the mind of 1990s Toyfare Magazine writers to see just what they were smoking. And much like the 90s itself, things are a little, funky. We also preview another new segment and some of our upcoming international travels! It's all happening! Ravel möter Ornette Coleman i South Central, Los Angeles.Avsnittet innehåller även möten med bland andra Snoop Dogg, Leon Ware, Stanley Clarke och Larry Graham.

Welcome back to your favorite daily comedy show, where the headlines are real, but our reactions are legally questionable.Today's chaos kicks off with the most unnecessary invention of the year: a Bluetooth-enabled funeral urn from Liquid Death called the “Eternal Playlist.” Yes, you can now haunt your family in surround sound. It's $495, it plays Spotify from beyond the grave, and somehow Moon almost bought one. Because of course he did. If you've ever wanted to DJ your own memorial service, congratulations — capitalism wins again. Then we pivot HARD into the internet's most uncomfortable math problem: an OnlyFans creator claiming she's pregnant after what she called a “breeding mission” involving 400 men. Four. Hundred. Naturally, the internet tagged Maury Povich like he's the Avengers of paternity testing. We discuss whether Maury should come out of retirement, whether this is marketing genius or chaos theater, and whether King Scott is now qualified to host a 400-man DNA special live from The Pageant in St. Louis. (We're not saying we'd do it… but we're also not not saying it.)From there, it's a full-on pop culture roller coaster. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees drop, and the gang debates whether Iron Maiden, Oasis, Sade, Wu-Tang Clan, and Mariah Carey deserve the nod — while Moon questions whether the Hall means anything anymore. It's passionate. It's slightly heated. It's exactly what a daily comedy show about music opinions should sound like.We also break down Missouri's proposed “Taylor Swift Act” targeting AI deepfakes, Benny Blanco's horrifying bare feet, a Shaky Knees festival lineup that slaps, and the emotional weight of some heartbreaking celebrity news. And because we contain multitudes, we close things out with an all-out war over the greatest TV theme songs of all time. From Fraggle Rock to Perfect Strangers to Thundercats — friendships were tested. This episode is a perfect example of why this daily comedy show works: weird news, celebrity chaos, music debates, childhood nostalgia, and just enough sarcasm to keep it spicy without getting us fired. If you like your entertainment gossip slightly unhinged but still informed, welcome home.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
