The cabin goes co-ed this week with Tom & Dan joined by Australian comedian/breakdancer Steph Broadbridge! This week we travel all the way to Sydney to record with some of our favourite Sydney comedians. Fresh after our live show, and with a little bit of self inflicted brain damage, we have a chat with the woman of the moment, Steph Broadbridge. She might be making waves in the media at the moment for her parody musical she can't talk about, but we've known Steph for years as being a solid crusher. Before this, she was an usher for The Voice where she was in charge of not letting people go to the toilet and refusing to let fugggos anywhere near the camera. Now as a comedian, she has had some of the nastiest gigs, including people climbing on the stage to confront her, or following someone who has had a beer bottle thrown at them. That's showbiz babyyyy!! We loved this chat, so go on, do yourself a solid and enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Are public figures fair game when it comes to parody and satire? Personally, your answer might shift depending on who that public figure is, while legally, the answers are a little more clean cut. It’s a question being asked following reports the legal team of Rachael Gunn, Australian academic and competitive breakdancer also known as Raygun, had a parody musical on her journey to the 2024 Paris Olympics cancelled ahead of its trial show. Raygun: The Musical, a creation of Aussie comedian Steph Broadbridge, was set to debut in Sydney on Saturday. However, after the venue received a cease-and-desist notice from the break dancer’s legal team – that show was canned. Joining Chris Spyrou on this episode of The Briefing, solicitor Jahan Kalantar explains it all. Hey guys! This time of the year feels like chaos and most of us are crawling to the finish line but today's episode matches the chaotic vibes! We chat: Hair loss, transplants and visiting Türkiye Alternative therapies using placentas What's in store for Christmas & Christmas traditions Having very 'curious' 5 year old asking about Santa Your best talent quest memories There's an Aussie comedian named Steph Broadbridge who created a musical parody 'Raygun the Musical' and was going to launch the show over the weekend. However, Steph was forced to cancel the show after Raygun's lawyers sent a cease and desist letter saying that Raygun owned the dance moves and that they were committed to protecting her intellectual property and ensuring that her brand remained strong and respected. There are a lot of opinions online (and within our team) about who is in the right and the wrong in this scenario. We speak about the optics, owning your brand, being tired of being mocked and cultural appropriation. My friend just sent me the song 'Short People' by Randy Newman and my god is it good. I laughed about it for about half of this week's pod. The other half was taken up talking about my friend Steph Broadbridge's amazing show last night. Still feels like there's some uncertainty around the future at the moment, but I'm feeling better and better.

Stephanie Broadbridge enlists Freddie and Alfie to track down any and all of the five members of 90s Australian girlband Girlfriend. It's their toughest assignment yet but they manage to get in touch and get a coveted audio birthday message. Hit play to find out Where Are They Now?
A few weeks ago we had Steph back on to do Dazed and Confused, and we were supposed to do The Night Before afterwards but we were having so much fun with Steph we decided to abandon our conceit that we feel trapped in. So this one Hastings finally apologises to Steph for his treatment of women. We also mention Waywards Comedy coming back but it got cancelled for being too good a room.
Returning favourite Steph Broadbridge joins us to talk about Dazed & Confused.
The perfect tonic to Project X, and our first episode with a guest. Steph Broadbridge joins us to talk about the movie Blockers. We all agreed this was our favourite episode at the time so that counts for something.
