We’ve all had a nightmare work story, whether it’s a psycho boss, dreadful working conditions, or an insufferable workmate. If you’ve had none of these things, chances are, you’re the problem! WorkHate is comedy podcast is co-hosted by comedians, Brett Blake and Bron Lewis who have a rich tapestry of ridiculous experiences between them. Each episode, they interview someone who is courageous enough to share their nightmare work story. Could it be about you? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we chat the the biggest superstar in the southern hemisphere, Urzila Carlson. She's fresh off the back of starring in a blockbuster film with Amy Schumer and her international standup tour is selling thousands of tickets on the daily. Urzila is a big deal, but she's humble, kind and generous with her time, which made us love her even more. Her job history is pretty breezy, but her experience with grabby audience members and unsolicited nudes took the wind out of us. Straight women, there is a very powerful message in here directed at you, so listen carefully! We loved this recording with Urzila Carlson, so enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. This week on ‘Work Hates' we chat to internet sensation and UK comedian Red Richardson. We assumed he wouldn't have a long history of jobs because he speaks like royalty, but it turns out that's all just a front. Red has been a cleaner where he quit after a particularly gross encounter and he's also been a delivery man who ruined a girl's 16th birthday. His nightmare gig is cringe as hell as well, which makes this episode absolutely amazing. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we have a yarn with comedian, animal enthusiast and dear mate of ours, Gez Hickey! She has recently captured Australia's heart from her recent role on ‘I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' and she's now on tour where she's selling out gigantic theatres Australia wide. She hasn't always been a big star though. Before comedy, she worked heaps of awful jobs including a 24/7 bowling alley in the casino where she witnessed a gun fight. Gez has some ripper dreadful gig stories, so go on, treat yourself and enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we chat to identical twins and comedy duo Ben and James Stevenson aka The Stevenson Experience. They've been performing together since they were 15 and whilst it hasn't always been an easy ride, they genuinely like each other. Individually they had some awful work stories including the time they were teenagers and a woman made Ben look at her naked photos. Together, they had a gig that was so bad they feared for their lives. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we talk to comedian, ex-radio host and national icon, Sammy J! He is a household name who is arguably the most loveable man on the planet, so he took us through some chapters of his life that shocked us. For example, the time he worked in a store where is was made to feel invisible, or the time he was a teenager and an established performer told him to “f**k off”. Sammy is a gifted storyteller, so everything he brought to the podcast was gripping and we left this conversation better people. We absolutely loved this chat with Sammy J, so treat yourself and enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week we chat to standup comedian and ex-lawyer Andrew Portelli. He is one of the best joke writers in the business, but before he was a gig pig, he was a prosecutor where he sent bad guys to jail. Andrew explains that he started his work as a modern day hero as a young age when he catfished creeps online ‘for fun'. The man is twisted as shit, but we love him dearly. We had a great time chatting with Andrew, so please enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we have a yarn with TikTok sensation, stand-up comedian and Steve Irwin impersonator, Blake Pavey. He became an online staple during COVID as a highschool student, and his comedic talents have grown from strength to strength. Blake's early success means he hasn't had many jobs, but the jobs he did have, he was pretty shit at. You dodged a bullet, Reject Shop! We asked him about nightmare gigs and he shared a corker that involved Wil Anderson and a crying man. Bliss. We loved this chat with Blake Pavey, and we know you will too! This week on ‘Work Hates' we sit down with one of the nicest, funniest and tallest people in this great nation, Dave Thornton. There aren't many telly shows, stages or radio stations he hasn't been on, and you'd be looking a long time to find someone who doesn't like him. But before he was a famous comedian, he was the world's worst graphic designer due to the fact he is colour blind. Dave came with a collection of embarrassing gigs to talk about, including the time he was accused of being racist mid-gig. Awkward. We loved this chat, and we know you will too! Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we recorded in Adelaide during the fringe festival with Australia's best boy Cam James. He's gone viral for his hit song ‘Medium Dick' and his standup tours sell out nationally, but before this success he used to work at a theatre restaurant, which absolutely cancels out anything impressive he has ever done or will do in the future. This theatre restaurant was like an Aldi version of Draculas if Aldi was filled with sex pests, shit food and illicit drugs. He also worked in a factory where he told a nepo baby to shove his job up his arse, which was awesome, but again, doesn't distract us from out how embarrassing his theatre restaurant job was. We bloody loved this chat with Cam James and we know you will too, so enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we chat to comedian and fashion icon, Jess Fuchs. Jess sheds light on what it's like to be a medical receptionist, and we were flabbergasted. She was the lady who you had to speak to when you were at your most vulnerable state, and instead of being kind, she was a massive moll. We asked her why all medical receptionists are heartless bullies, and her explanation was perfection. If you have ever been belittled or disrespected by a medical receptionist, and of course you have, listen to this episode. We also talk about comedy, but that goes without saying. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
It was time to do an episode with just us, Bron and Brett just in case we had any sore points we wanted to tend to without making a guest uncomfortable. If you've ever wanted to hear how a comedy show is made, or our fears around making our current solos, this is the episode for you. We love making this podcast, and in this recording, we love each other (which is a rumour everyone should start spreading). Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. We took ‘Work Hates' to a sold out audience in Brisbane and it was bloody amazing. Not only were the audience so good, but our guests Emma Zammit and Peter James were hilarious. Emma shared how being a randy little floozy got her fired from Macca's, and Peter explains why he cried whilst dancing with seven-foot dogs. Bron and Bretty were particularly mean to each other, so really there is something for everyone in this episode. We had the best time of our lives in Brisbane, and you'll hear that when you listen. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we finish our Brisbane trip with one of our all time favourites, Shad Wicka. Shad has been a standup comedian for years, and he is one of the best emcees the country has to offer, but he hasn't always done this job. Before this he was training his dog to poo in funny places, which sounds like a silly thing to do, but you just wait and see how handy that was for him. Shad has one of the most insane stories about how he got fired from his dream job because the PM couldn't take a joke. You'd think he would have better things to do, no? Anyway, it's a story unlike any other we have heard on the podcast, so don't you dare miss it. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we found ourselves in Brisbane, which meant we had to catch up with Queensland's most unhinged psychopath Jack Knight. We were desperate (and a bit nervous) to hear what kind of job history Jack had, and he didn't disappoint. He is an army veteran who isn't a stranger to disappearing into a forest for six months at a time because he gets sick to death of people. So yeah, he's normal. Highlights are his time as a fencer where he fought a junkie, and also his worst gig ever, where a woman accused him of having a vagina. Powerful stuff. We loved this chat, so go and learn something by enjoying to this episode of ‘Work Hates'!Make sure you support us on Patreon! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we have a yarn with Australian comedy icon and fittest man in the world Merrick Watts. The bloke has been on Australian radio for decades, and that is not because he knows how to stick to a budget. Merrick is a classic larrikin who has caused quite a lot of headaches for people, both from stress and booze. Just when you think he is good at everything, Merrick explains that that before comedy he was a failed tradie who was bullied relentlessly on site, which was music to our ears. You're not allowed to be funny, hot, fit, loveable and handy - it's the law. We love this bloke, so enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we chat with Australia's favourite ex-crim. After spending time in prison for dealing exorbitant amounts of illicit drugs, Andrew changed his ways and became a stand-up comedian. He tells us about what it was like to be in prison, why you should avoid the ‘bone yard' and how it was actually a really positive experience for him. This is a great episode, especially if you want to know why in the peak of his wealth he drove those tiny GoGet cars instead of anything you'd expect a drug dealer to drive. We loved this chat and we know you will to. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week we continue our stint in Sydney with one of our favourite comedians of all time, Kate Dolan. Originally from the UK, Kate chose the most expenny city in Australia to start one of the hardest careers: standup comedy. Bretty puts his foot in it INSTANTLY when he lists one of her achievements as being ‘a wife', and he will never live that down. Kate has had every job under the sun, from a dreadful scam artist at a call centre, to an after school care worker, and it's safe to say she won't need to do any of that stuff soon because her trajectory is BRIGHT. We both loved and hated hearing about her worst ever gig with misogynistic coke-heads, but the best part of this episode and of Bron's life was when Kate got Bretty to do an Anastasia impersonation. We loved this episode more than life itself, so go treat yourself and relish in this week's ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week we travel all the way to Sydney to record with some of our favourite Sydney comedians. Fresh after our live show, and with a little bit of self inflicted brain damage, we have a chat with the woman of the moment, Steph Broadbridge. She might be making waves in the media at the moment for her parody musical she can't talk about, but we've known Steph for years as being a solid crusher. Before this, she was an usher for The Voice where she was in charge of not letting people go to the toilet and refusing to let fugggos anywhere near the camera. Now as a comedian, she has had some of the nastiest gigs, including people climbing on the stage to confront her, or following someone who has had a beer bottle thrown at them. That's showbiz babyyyy!! We loved this chat, so go on, do yourself a solid and enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
To celebrate a whole year of ‘Work Hates' podcast, we did our first ever live show and it was bloody excellent. Special guests Nikki Britton and Luke Heggie were the perfect sweet and salty additions, and we discovered one of them spewed in a mascot suit and the other made themself vomit from their own fart. It might not have been highbrow, but it was such a great recording. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we chat with director, producer and all round good bloke, Max Miller. He's most famous as the director and one of the writers of one of Australia's biggest comedy successes: Aunty Donna. We asked Max if he ever wanted to be one of the actors, and he said, “It was hard enough to agree to coming on this podcast”. The man is the classic behind-the-scenes kind of guy, which feels like a waste because he's bloody hilarious. Max started his working career selling raw poultry, and thankfully the only way was up. We learned about the time he directed Bretty and Dustin Martin in a Bonds ad, and he graciously reads out the feedback on said ad from internet trolls. Max brings a whole new perspective to both the poultry and the entertainment industry, and we couldn't be happier with that. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week we celebrate 50 EPISODES of ‘Work Hates', and who better to celebrate with than Dave ‘Hughesy' Hughes. This man is Australian comedy royalty, with one of the most distinct voices on the planet, but more importantly, a work ethic that is incomparable to any other. Hughesy comes from a working class family in Warrnambool, and the way the man hustles it would seem he hasn't shaken that identity even in the slightest. The man WORKS HARD! From working in an abattoir to being a bricklayer's runner, he isn't afraid to get uncomfortable. In saying that, he has been fired from everything except comedy, so it's bloody lucky his comedy career took off. We had a hoot chatting with Hughesy, so treat yourself and enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we have a yarn with comedian, actor and online sensation, Aaron Gocs AKA Gocsy. We were over the moon when Gocsy agreed to coming on the podcast because this is a man who has a resume longer than the Bible. You may know him from his famous corn video where he was eating corn whilst wearing cornrows and listening to Korn, but he has more skills than that. He's done everything from being a security guard at teenage birthday parties, driven a taxi, acted in a Ford ad and removed rubbish people's yards. He's a jack of all trades, and he has the optimism of a saint. We love Gocsy, and you will too! Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we chat with television presenter, comedian, mother and a pillar of Australian entertainment, Julia Morris. She has been in the industry for (in her words) “75 years” so she has seen more dreadful gigs than anyone in the world. Her career has been spectacular from the outside, and her tenacity has allowed her to stay in a profession that has been infamously unenthusiastic towards women. Julia has been thrown under the bus on national television by colleagues in search of a leg-up, and she has also embraced younger talent wholeheartedly. This is a self-made woman who walks into a room with her heart on her sleeve, and even though she may not remember anyone's name, she is absolutely willing to pretend she has. We could have spoken to Lady Julia Morris of Gosford for hours, so you're in for a treat. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we speak to military veteran turned comedian, Jarryd Goundrey. He served seven-years in the army and he has two busted knees, impaired hearing and a bucket load of stories to prove it. Jarryd has willingly been tear-gassed, he's almost drowned in a water submerged helicopter, and he's learnt exactly what to do if the Taliban capture him. He shed light on ‘military groupies' who are willing to jump into the boot of a car if it ended in a root at Duntroon, which Brett respected and Bron didn't. We haven't had a soldier on the podcast before, and this episode quickly became one of our all time favourites. Strap yourselves in, and enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we chat with comedian, Triple J host and ultimate sweetheart Bec Charlwood. We couldn't believe our luck when we nabbed Bec for the pod because not only do we love her, but we knew she would have some properly unhinged stories for us, and we were spot on. Bec has a special out on YouTube called ‘Bipolar Baby' that has gone gangbusters, but before she was a successful standup comedian, she was a Perth pest leaving strange notes on her boss' desk and shagging blokes on the beach. UNHINGED! Just when we thought we couldn't love this woman more, she tells us the story of her worst ever gig, and we don't think anyone will ever top it. You'll love this one, mates. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we chat to Nat Harris, ‘Triple R' breakfast radio host and comedian. Nat has a long history with the cafe industry in Melbourne, and we quickly learn that the effervescent energy she exhibits in comedy was not exactly there when she was making coffees. She moved from flat whites to working at the council where she came to realise that even the worst of cafe customers couldn't compare to the absolute psychos that call the council to complain. Nat shared her worst ever gig, which happened to be in Edinburgh Fringe which resulted in her almost crying on stage, followed by a brutal review by a hateful mongrel. Nat is a breath of fresh air, and we pity the fools that ever cross her in the future. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates' Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we chat with Tom Siegart, AKA The Suburban Footballer about some of his more colourful jobs. We were so thrilled when Tom agreed to come on because we knew he'd have a collection of employment nightmares to share, and we were not disappointed. We were surprised however with some of the content of his stories. Never has the been a more drug heavy episode, which does not align with the Tom we all know! Hilarious! Tom tells us about an apprenticeship he did four four years that ended in zero qualifications (hello scam!), and his time as a DJ where he changed CD's in a plastic shirt for peanuts. We laughed a lot for this recording, so we know you'll love it too. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we chat to one of the best blokes in the country, Harley Breen! You all know him as a brilliant comedian, radio host, television presenter and new age hippy, but we reveal that he used to be a bloody pest of a door-to-door salesman. NO THANKS! He has always chased the dollar, even from an early age he fashioned a trailer to carry the newspapers he was delivering, which makes him sound both innovative and a million years old. We discuss cars a lot in this episode, so Bron was well out of her element, and Bretty brings up the 1800's heaps, so it's safe to say we were all confused in equal measure for this one. Heaps of fun was had, so enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we chat with Jay Morrissey, co-director of the highly acclaimed film ‘Emu War'. He explains the tormenting process of creating a film from scratch, which made us appreciate his hilarious movie all that much more. Before he was a filmmaker, he had a number of ventures, including stand-up comedy and working at the casino. Considering the amount of times Bretty has been kicked out of casinos, it was a Christmas miracle Jay had never had to eject him himself, but that really speaks to how bad he was at his job. We loved this recording, so treat yourself and enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on ‘Work Hates' we chat to Perth based UK comedian David Hughes. David is an online sensation, his memes and tweets have reached millions of people. He is relatively new to stand-up comedy, but he's been writing jokes for the telly and for other comedians for years. Before he found comedy, he had a string of ordinary jobs including jacking off horses, which is up there with one of the most insane jobs we've heard. David tells us about his time working in a shitty pub in the UK, to where he is now, performing in some of Perth's best (and worst) establishments. We loved this chat with David, so please enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week we have the ultimate hype man, and hilarious comedian Ben Lomas. Everyone loves Lomas because not only is he one of the kindest blokes on the planet, but because he knows exactly what stories we wanted to hear. Before he was a stand-up comedian, he was a garbo where he destroyed his back and saw more European sausages than he wanted, and he was also a barkeep in a hostel bar where he scammed people out of their money and bashed a bloke who truly deserved it. He's done it all. We could have talked to Lomas all day, so go on, treat yourself to this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
In this episode of ‘Work Hates' we chat to UK comedian, and lifetime gypsy, Gordon Southern. Whilst it's near impossible to put an address on the bloke, it is clear that his talent has taken him all around the globe. He wasn't always an international comedian though, many moons ago, he was an aspiring actor charming the pants off people in hospitality, then he was the shittest fruit picker on the planet. What the actual hell are gooseberries? Gordon generously details some of the worst gigs he's ever done, which made us cringe to no end. We loved this chat, so enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week we chat to perhaps the best bloke in the world. He's a gentle giant who had to show Bron a photo of himself as a teenager to prove he wasn't always a dreamboat. Ben is a successful comedian, but he also is a Hollywood actor who did most of his own stunts in a film where he fought another dreamboat. Before both of these things though, Ben became a primary school teacher, a career he dabbles in as a relief teacher. We spoke for longer than usual in this episode, and didn't even get to some of the questions we usually ask because Ben is just that bloody interesting! We promise we'll have him back for a Part 2, but for now, enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week we chat to Bretty's crush and Bron's new best friend, David Reynolds. He was the winner of the 2017 Bathurst1000, and whilst he knows nothing about cars, he's very good at driving them fast. David shares some inside stories about what it's like to be a pro driver, and it actually sounds way harder than you'd think. He's not always been a big deal in the racing world though, before this, he taught flogs how to drive their luxury cars, and one time he was fired from telling a rude boss where to go. Bron and Brett only had one fight on this episode, which was genuinely surprising considering their different levels of interests in the subject matter. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week we chat to nurse and comedian, Catherine McClintock. We've wanted a nurse on the pod for ages, and whilst she couldn't share all the nitty gritty details because she's a professional, we certainly got some stomach turning stories out of her. We also learned about Catherine's worst ever gig, which was also pretty nauseating. Our chat with Nurse Catherine reminded us to never stick things up our butts, and we're very grateful for this. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Dahn Rozario is responsible for the most chaotic episode of ‘Work Hates' to date. Before he was an online sensation, he had a checkered work history. To paint the scene, Dahn turned up to the recording stoned out of his nut to tell us about being fired at least seven times. What. A. Surprise. He worked at the strippers, as an injectable needle hunter, and in a call centre delivering life destroying news. We learnt about how Dahn's online content almost got him killed, and about the worst gig we have ever heard ever. Our heads were spinning after this session with Dahn, so let's hope it was worth it. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Sammy Petersen is a stand-up comedian and a pillar of the Australian podcast community. He is one of the most adored people on the planet, and whilst you'll fall in love with him on this episode, he provides story after story of people being horrifically rude to him. From the time he worked at a Chinese restaurant, to the time he worked at a tourist penguin attraction, he was spoken to like he was the scum of the earth. We laughed hard in this episode, and we know you will too. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Chloe Black is a Tasmanian comedian, room runner, and (in her own words) ‘professional queer'. She has been doing stand-up for over 20 years, and whilst her image has shifted over time, her ability to put up with extreme discomfort and monotony has not. Most call-centre workers don;t last long, but Chloe worked in them for fifteen long and painful years. She dabbled in a bookshop/sex shop where in the tea room she had to move the amyl to reach the milk, which is an experience not many of us share. Chloe provides a perspective we hadn't heard before on this pod, and we absolutely loved it. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week we have someone who isn't a comedian, but has a legitimately interesting job - a funeral home director. Her job is currently fascinating, including the times she's given grieving people permission to call their dead people the c-bomb, if they were in fact c-bombs. Before becoming a funeral director, Stass was a forensic cleaner, cleaning places where people died, or masterbated too much. This incredible woman not only has an extensive collection of incredible stories, but a refreshing perspective on death, and life before it. We loved chatting with Stass! Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Joel Creasey has been in the Australian and international limelight for half of his life. He knew he was capable of fame from his teenage years, so he went for it hard and fast, and we're so glad he did. He's a radio host, a television presenter, a stand-up comedian and actor. As the busiest person in the whole industry, it is safe to say it doesn't come without consequences. We got the hot scoop on why he was sporting broken ribs and a body covered in bruises, and the story doesn't disappoint Joel has done it all - from falling off the stage, to a revolting farm incident, and he shares the stories of his battle scars very generously. We absolutely love Joel Creasey, and we loved recording this. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates!' Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Ed Kavalee has been one of the most prevalent voices of the Australian entertainment industry for about 20 years. We know him as a radio presenter, a television personality, and the backbone of some of Australia's most popular comedy shows, but he hasn't always been this powerful. Ed joins us on the pod to share with us his humble beginnings as a sand shifter, a dry cleaner, and aspiring actor where he was offered some brutal feedback that changed his life forever. Ed brings a lot of energy to this episode (and detailed chat about infamous adult clips), and we dare you to try and introduce people as well as he can. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates!' Meg Jager is a proud Brisbane girl first and foremost. Beyond that, she is an ex bookshop attendant, a relief-teacher, and a future star comedian. Her career in the bookstore went for longer than it should have after she worked through her first ever panic attack. She moved onto teaching, where she was bullied by a power hungry tool (category 3 in Bron's infamous teacher theory), and then began her promising journey into stand-up. Her epic bomb story is super cringe, so if that's your cup of tea (it is certain ours), then this is the ep for you! Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Laurence AKA ‘The Voice of Melbourne' is well known for his riffing at Flinders Street Station. His aesthetic is that of a comtemporary Hagrid, and his energy matches that of Jack Black, so he is solely responsible for making Melbourne PT extremely entertaining. With an enormous online following under his belt, it did make us wonder, ‘Where did this bloke come from?' Well, we discover that he used to be a removalist who taught Bretty how to destroy a toilet, and a postie who insisted on his own sound system that blasted insane bagpipes throughout the suburbs. This episode was intense. He's a big fella with big feelings, and we were here for it. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Max Price is a man of many talents. He is a stand-up, an online sensation, a dad, an esteemed writer, and a bloody loveable bloke. He came on the pod with a story for Bretty and a story for Bron, and both were excellent. Max explains how he broke not one, but two bones just to hang out with his friends, which may very well be the most desperate story we've ever heard. We also learnt that his comedy career took him to the dizzying heights of the red carpet, and how his partner and baby sabotaged his chance of getting papped. Like it or lump it, this was one of our favourite interviews to date. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Bronwyn Kuss is an award winning comedian who is about to go to Edinburgh Fringe Festival to probably win more awards. Before this sparkly life, she worked in an Ipswich prison with what seems like her entire extended family. Bronwyn tells us about the bloke she worked with who broke an unbeatable chair for a whiff of worker's comp, and all the innovative women who snuck contraband up their fudgas for their stint behind bars. This woman has seen it all, and we absolutely LOVED this recording. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'. Follow us on Instagram @workhatesSupport us on patreon www.patreon.com/workhates/about? Sam Taunton is a TV presenter, comedian, and Australia's goodest boy. He grew up in country NSW, where his dreams to make a career out of golfing never eventuated, because he didn't make the sacred declaration to turn pro (or something like that). During the first few years of his comedy career, he worked part time at golf courses where he cleaned golf clubs for the small fee of being asked, “Wait, aren't you that guy?” We love Taunts, but everyone loves Taunts. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Zoe Coombs-Marr is one of Australia's most adored comedians, but before she was as comedian, she was the world's worst barista, a bar wench at a 24 hour bar, and an actor. Her time in the pub had her cleaning more vomit than humanly possible, and her time as an actor provided us with a story that had us almost vomiting. Yes, this story was all levels of cringe, and we loved it so much. This was a really fun to record, and we hope you love it! Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. Doug Chappel is a pillar of the Melbourne comedy scene, a father of two kids, and a qualified psychologist. Before all of this though, he was best known as the prince of the Western suburbs who wore more gold jewelry than Liza Minnelli and chose to go to the movies rather than turning up for his shift. Doug's instagram is littered with him travelling on flights in business class, which is much better than him travelling in his boss' sports car. That never ends well, trust us. We love this kind hearted beast, and you will too. Enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Well, well, well, if it isn't one of the greatest comedians that has ever existed ON OUR PODCAST! Dave O'Neil is famous for his stand-up comedy, radio antics and acting skills, but none of us knew he could dig. Dave shares with us his more labour intensive job, and how he left his mate Jeffery there forever. We hope Jeffery is alive and well, but from the sounds of those working conditions, he almost certainly is not. Dave generously illustrates one of the worst comedy gigs he's ever done in his 87 years of comedy, and how he refused to let that audience beat him. He's a living legend, and we loved recording this. Australian comedy darling, Josh Earl has dipped his toe into many jobs during his lifetime, from check-out chick, to school librarian, to musical comedian. Whilst all jobs have had moments of humiliation, Josh's MacGyver instincts including creaming soda and urine provided more questions than answers. His epic comedy bomb involving a mop bucket and a song about homophobia is worth an entire episode alone. Everyone loves Josh Earl, and we know everyone will love what he has to offer the pod. Australian comedy royalty popped in to explain why he gave up a promising career in journalism for a career in comedy. Obviously it worked out perfectly for him, but it hasn't always been smooth sailing. He details his worst ever heckle, and his least favourite moment closing out a corporate event, which was extremely cringey. We were honoured to have the great man on the pod, so please, enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
