Send us a textA few unfamiliar names, a 70-page indictment, and a flood of betting data set the stage for a candid look at how games get bent and why so many of us still want to believe the scoreboard tells the whole truth. I walk through the mechanics of a recent point-shaving scheme at mid-major and D2 programs, how sportsbooks and integrity services flagged coordinated prop bets, and why subpoenas, texts, and money trails make “nobody will know” a losing strategy. The result isn't moral panic; it's a sober case for uncertainty—and the reason I stopped wagering when hidden variables outnumbered knowns. Then we swing to a different arena where trust is contested in public view: immigration enforcement. ICE operations have surged, detention capacity has climbed, and the country is arguing through headlines, viral videos, and incomplete stats. I lay out the competing claims—historic enforcement gains versus due process concerns—and ask listeners to sit with the uncomfortable math of trade-offs. Policies promise order, but every big lever has an unintended cost, and communities feel it first. To ground it all, I return to the one place where the odds feel honest: the course. “Write about what you know” led me to golf, not because I'm a pro, but because four hours with a scorecard reveals who we are under pressure. From Hogan and Penick to Rotella and Parent, the mental game beats quick fixes, and the best shots arrive after quiet practice, not swing juice. I share a childhood dodgeball moment that rewired my idea of courage, plus four reasons we forget our own peaks—and how to lock them in for the next swing. If you can't control the whistle or the policy, you can still control your reps, your recall, and your response. If this resonated, follow the show, share it with a friend who bets too confidently, and leave a quick review with your biggest takeaway. Your notes shape what we explore next.Spotify Apple podcastsAmazon Music all other streaming services

On this episode of Conduct Detrimental: THE Sports Law Podcast, Mike Kravchenko (Watch on YouTube) andMike Lawson (@Mikesonoflaw) reunite for another Mike & Mike edition, welcoming Bella Silva (LinkedIn) for the first time, to cover some of the biggest sports law stories of the week and maybe the year. The episode opens with the escalating College Sports Commission dispute, as Mike K walks through the CSC participation agreement, arbitration waivers, and why major programs—particularly in states like Texas—are resisting or refusing to sign. The group discusses state-law conflicts, data-sharing concerns, NCAA coordination issues, and whether the CSC can realistically function without universal buy-in following the House settlement. The conversation then turns to the breaking college basketball point-shaving and gambling indictments, which Mike K frames as a full-scale integrity crisis rather than a one-off scandal. Mike L adds betting-market context as the trio explains how the alleged scheme worked, how dozens of games and numerous schools were affected, the role of international and professional gambling ties, and why legalized sports betting and NIL disparities created the perfect environment for federal criminal exposure.Next, Bella leads a deep dive into the WNBA's expired collective bargaining agreement, breaking down the stalled negotiations, revenue-sharing demands, player movement restrictions, benefits issues, and the league-wide free-agency moratorium. The group discusses why this labor fight is unprecedented for women's sports, how public negotiations have gone sideways, the impact of Unrivaled, and why a lost season is now a real possibility despite record growth and expansion. The trio then covers the Marcus Freeman battery allegation, with Bella explaining what happened at the Indiana wrestling tournament, why prosecutors declined to file charges, and how video evidence shaped the outcome. The episode closes with What to Watch, as Mike L recaps the Supreme Court's transgender athlete oral arguments and why the justices appear poised to uphold state bans, while also flagging upcoming UFC and combat-sports legal storylines. Mike K adds his own watch list, including elite college football players returning to school for massive NIL deals and what that signals for CSC enforcement and professional pipelines. The show wraps with an update on the Law Student Board, as Bella and Mike K highlight upcoming initiatives, the spring symposium, and how law students can get involved in sports law during a rapidly changing era.Let us know your thoughts!***Have a topic you want to write about? In this “Kim on a Whim” segment, Marc Cox and Kim St. Onge broke down the explosive point-shaving scandal involving former SLU player Bradley Ezewiro, accused of fixing games as part of a nationwide betting scheme spanning 17 NCAA teams. They noted the irony of gambling ads appearing alongside news about the investigation and highlighted statements from former Missouri AG Andrew Bailey, now at the FBI, condemning the corruption. The hosts explored the connection between NIL money, player mobility, and gambling temptations, while Cox reflected on his own brief betting experiences as a cautionary tale. The discussion closed with a sharp defense of editorial independence and a warning about how legalized betting continues to blur the lines between competition and corruption. #KimOnAWhim #SLU #BradleyEzewiro #PointShaving #SportsBetting #NCAA #AndrewBailey #MarcCoxShow
Mike Johnson, Beau Morgan, and Ali Mac react to the news that a college point shaving scheme involving more than 39 players on 17 NCAA D1 teams, including Kennesaw State University, resulted in dozens of games in the previous two seasons being fixed by a gambling ring that included a former NBA player. Mike, Beau, and Ali also explain why they think this college basketball point-shaving scandal is unfortunately just the tip of the iceberg.

Send us a textEver wonder why some architectures feel effortless to run while others need a babysitter? We invited Russ White to help us unpack the real craft of network design: building mental maps that tie history, theory, and practical constraints into clear decisions you can defend and operate. Forget packet field trivia. We focus on how to think, what to simplify, and which trade-offs actually matter. We start with the idea that design is navigation through abstraction. Russ explains how mapping ideas the way you'd map a city lets you place new knowledge in context and predict behavior under failure. From there we separate troubleshooting from design: knowing where things break is useful, but the advanced skill is foreseeing convergence, bounding failure domains, and shaping a topology that operators can understand at a glance. Then we dig into trade-offs. Shaving 20 milliseconds by splitting flooding domains might look smart on paper, but what debt does it add in tooling, training, and drift? We talk subsecond timers, gold plating, and the discipline of designing to constraints: budget, topology, traffic, and the humans on call at 2 a.m. The rule of thumb is simple: if you can't explain it clearly to someone half-asleep and cross-lingual, it's too complex. History helps here too. Understanding why BGP and OSPF look the way they do makes today's choices less dogmatic and more grounded in goals. We close with the soft skills that make great designs land: gathering requirements from non-technical stakeholders, telling the story of the why, and resisting needless features. If you're ready to trade cleverness for clarity and build networks others can operate with confidence, this conversation will sharpen your intuition and your process. If this resonated, follow the show, share it with a teammate who loves to over-optimize, and leave a quick review so more engineers can find it.Connect with our guest:https://rule11.techhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/riw777/https://x.com/rtggeekPurchase Chris and Tim's book on AWS Cloud Networking: https://www.amazon.com/Certified-Advanced-Networking-Certification-certification/dp/1835080839/ Check out the Monthly Cloud Networking Newshttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1fkBWCGwXDUX9OfZ9_MvSVup8tJJzJeqrauaE6VPT2b0/Visit our website and subscribe: https://www.cables2clouds.com/Follow us on BlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/cables2clouds.comFollow us on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@cables2clouds/Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@cables2cloudsMerch Store: https://store.cables2clouds.com/Join the Discord Study group: https://artofneteng.com/iaatj

He also covers the stunning news of a tennis player hit with a $70K fine and a 20-year suspension for point shaving, plus the surge in F1 viewership as the series prepares to move to Apple TV and implement major rule changes in 2026.
