Conversation with curator, writer, and researcher ANABELLE LACROIX about the project RADIO INSOMNIA, an all-night broadcast for night communities which is interested in the political and poetic forces of waking at night and asks: What is the potential of listening at night when wakefulness is embraced rather than endured? Dr. Timothy Hill is a Professor at the University of Bath in the UK. Tim co-authored a study that looked at the impact social media use has on our creativity and new passion discovery. The rise in social media use is curbing our boredom, however, as this suggest, boredom is where we start to unlock new passions and hobbies. Here is an article talking about the study: https://relevantmagazine.com/culture/tech-gaming/study-the-key-to-unlocking-your-creativity-is-a-social-media-fast/ Feel free to reach out to Dr. Hill with any questions: T.R.Hill@bath.ac.uk Follow me on IG: https://www.instagram.com/oursocietywithjonalba/

Sunday Morning Sermon- November 15, 2020 Today is so important. What we do, by giving to our Life-Giving Outreach Contribution today, will last. We are giving of ourselves, we are being selfless, because we believe not only are we eternal people, but that every person outside these walls is an eternal person. Wether the young man struggling to get his life right who ends up at Timothy Hill. Or the Papaua New Guinean who is worshiping tribal Gods, the young mom coming out of incarceration through HopeWorks, the child in need of adoption. We don’t care about these people because we are nice. We care about them because they will last.
Next week is Life-Giving Sunday. We are going to raise $275,000 and give it away to the best life-changing and life-giving ministries we know of, so that more people may have life in Christ. One of those partner ministries of ours is Timothy Hill. Today we are fortunate to have their Executive Director, Thud Hill, here with us. Listen to find out more about the Timothy Hill Children's Ranch.
Part 2 of our coverage of The Atlanta Child Murders, which left a horrific scar on not only Atlanta, but America as a whole. There were over 29 victims, and the case remains a massive injustice to the Black community. Repercussions of this miscarriage of justice can still be seen and felt today. More than 40 years later, there are still more questions than answers. Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and former APD police chief Erika Shields have reopened up to 157 cases that may all be linked, and hopefully justice can finally be served. We are dedicating the next few episodes to the victims. Their names are Edward Hope Smith, Alfred Evans, Milton Harvey, Yusuf Bell, Angel Lanier, Jeffery Mathis, Eric Middlebrooks, Christopher Richardson, LaTonya Wilson, Aaron Wyche, Anthony Carter, Earl Terrell, Clifford Jones, Darron Glass, Charles Stephens, Aaron Jackson, Patrick Rogers, Lubie Geter, Terry Pue, Patrick Baltazar, Curtis Walker, Joseph Bell, Timothy Hill, William Barrett, Eddie Duncan, Larry Rogers, Michael McIntosh, Jimmy Ray Payne, John Porter, Nathaniel Cater. World Coffee Research (WCR) and Counter Culture have both independently been working on better more up-to-date reference guides on the coffee varieties and research that has been done, and currently being done, in Ethiopia and East Africa. Counter Culture will present on their newly published material, that for the first time consolidates over 50 in-depth descriptions on the varieties of Ethiopia. In this episode, WCR presents on their newly published African Variety Intelligence Report outlining the varieties and research of coffees from Kenya and other East African countries. Foster care has long been criticized for allowing kids to age out of the system without preparing them for life out on their own. Thaddaeus Hill, Executive Director of Timothy Hill Ranch joins host Byron Tyler on this episode of Mid-South View Point to share how his organization has addressed the issue for nearly forty years. Timothy Hill, a Christ-centered home provides a safe place for these youth to live, be loved, feel safe, and be mentored with life values and a hard work ethic. Mid-South View Point radio show airs Wednesday and Thursday at 3:00 pm on the Bott Radio Network affiliate 640 AM and 100.7 FM in Memphis, TN.
Mordecai was the one who helped Esther navigate this secular culture. He was the one who helped her through the trauma of losing both parents. He was the one who aided her in dealing with the vulnerability that came with her beauty. Because of the way Mordecai took Esther in and brought her up, she had the chance to grow into the hero whom God needed in the rest of the story.Jerrell Hill was initially a preacher in Riverhead, NY. He and his wife Fern opened their home and hearts to dozens of foster children who were homeless and in need of temporary housing. These were young people who faced odds like Esther--cultural impiety, family instability, and personal vulnerability. Inspired by their son Timothy, they went on to found and build Timothy Hill which opened its doors for the first time on November 15, 1980. It has been a safe haven for hundreds of young people during desperate times of abuse, neglect, and crisis. Their ministry has "taken in" many who were just like Esther and allowed them to go on and take on their role in God's story. They have been the Mordecai in the lives of many Esthers.
