On the night of September 6, 1958, Aaron “Bud' Jenkins was stabbed to death as he slept in his barracks at the Naval base in Esquimalt on Vancouver Island here in British Columbia. A man named Leo Mantha confessed to the crime, was tried, found guilty of 1st-degree murder, and executed in 1959. He was the last person ever to be executed in British Columbia and the 3rd last to be executed in Canada. At the time, executions were rare, and most Canadian death penalty verdicts were commuted to life in prison. After revisiting the crime, the consensus among experts today is that anyone else would have been charged with manslaughter or 2nd-degree murder, and not 1st-degree murder. So why do Leo Mantha hang? The fact that Leo Mantha was gay was the only factor that made him stand out at the time of the crime. Was his a hanging by homophobia? From Italy to North Carolina, we bring you the tales of another weekend with many red flags. Not to say it wasn't a successful weekend on all accounts, the first ever WCR race round took place on the world stage in Italy with none other than Mallory Dobbs representing the USA and securing a successful weekend. The King of Brakes Toprak himself demonstrated a perfect weekend proving that he is in fact meshing quite well with the M1000RR, while maintaining his title by doing not one but 2 stoppies down the front straight to win the race!! In NC this weekend we completed another successful trackday at a small racetrack known as the North Carolina Circuit for Automotive Research or NCCAR, although this weekend we'll refer to it as NCBIKE!! Red flags haunted us but that didn't stop us from having a great fast weekend. And to top it all of Moto America raced at Brainerd this weekend with another successful weekend and more tales to follow from the Privateer Industries team!!! Dr. Chrystene Nguyen is a board-certified physician in Southern California in family medicine and lifestyle medicine. She believes a major part of optimal health includes having supportive relationships and community and social connection, so during Covid-19 quarantine she started a Facebook group called White Coat Romance. This is a space for single healthcare professionals to virtually mingle, get to know one another as friends and/or potential romantic partners, and provide support among a group that understands the unique challenges and demands of our profession. She is a hopeless romantic with a long-time fascination with technological innovations, which led her to develop the White Coat Romance Dating App that just launched mid Feb. This dating app community consist of a much wider audience than the facebook group and is exclusively designed for Healthcare & Health-Related Professionals and Doctoral Students, with its unique feature of NPI verification or other verification. Some of the topics we discussed were:Modern datingDating in the wild vs. dating apps, pros/cons 3 tips for successful online datingCreating the WCR community, mingling First steps to getting the WCR app doneThe journey, bringing the idea to a realityPractical steps to developing app Tips for those who have an ideas and want to make an app in another area but aren't sure how to do itMistakes to avoid when you develop an appAnd more!Learn more about me or schedule a FREE coaching call:https://www.joyfulsuccessliving.com/Join the Voices of Women Physicians Facebook Group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/190596326343825/Connect with Dr. Nguyen:Dr. Chrystene Nguyen personal social media handles:https://linktr.ee/chrystenenguyenhttps://www.facebook.com/chrystene.nguyenhttps://www.instagram.com/chrystenenguyen/https://www.linkedin.com/in/chrystene-nguyen-md-mph-dipablm/https://twitter.com/ChrysteneNguyenhttps://www.tiktok.com/@chrystenenguyenWhite Coat Romance website and social media channelshttps://www.whitecoatromance.com/https://linktr.ee/whitecoatromancehttps://www.facebook.com/whitecoatromance/https://www.linkedin.com/company/white-coat-romance/https://www.instagram.com/whitecoatromance/https://twitter.com/WCRDatingApphttps://www.tiktok.com/@whitecoatromancehttps://www.youtube.com/@whitecoatromance

Dr. Erkeda DeRouen talks to Dr. Chrystene Nguyen, the founder of White Coat Romance (WCR). She is a board-certified physician in family and lifestyle medicine. They talk about online dating for health professionals and the process behind building the White Coat Romance platform. [00:56] Introducing Dr. Chrystene Nguyen [01:39] White Coat Romance [07:30] User Verification on White Coat Romance [12:16] Dating Tips for Health Professionals & Students [16:01] What Dr. Nguyen Would Change About Healthcare The White Coat Romance Dating App Before the WCR platform was built, it started out as an online Facebook group in July 2020. Within that community, health professionals provided each other with support, friendship, and even romance! The COVID-19 quarantine highlighted the need for relationship and community. As the group grew larger, Dr. Chrystene saw the need to develop a dating app to facilitate connection among physicians. How Does White Coat Romance Verify its Users? WCR is exclusively for health-related professionals and doctoral students. Users must provide a Medical License Number or an NPI (National Provider Identifier). There are also other options to prove their degree. In addition, users are also asked to provide a photo of themselves to ensure authenticity. White Coat Romance's verification process ensures that each person is properly vetted, allowing like-minded professionals to connect safely. Dating for Physicians Dr. Chrystene believes that a positive mindset helps set the tone for meeting people. Your deep knowledge of yourself should guide you in navigating relationships. Clear boundaries and communication should never be overlooked. Connecting with others helps fulfill our social needs, which allows us to be at our best when serving patients. Finding a life partner is one of the best investments you can make for yourself since they will permeate all aspects of your life.
