The very first TSSR Retreat was held this weekend, nine souls came together at a Southern Indiana campground to grow and become more deeply connected. That high octane energy was still percolating when seven arrived at the DTM Studio on their way home, do you hear that? These ladies stopped by to carry this message to YOU before going back their homes and going back to their lives. This is powerful stuff, Twelve Step Spiritual Recovery is moving in the lives of these gals and it is shifting their reality, shifting how they show up in the world, empowering them to be awesome version of themselves. I'm honored that they came to share their experience with me, and with You. Enjoy --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/dan-reeves8/support

These conferences were given at the 2020 Women's Retreat in Bismarck, ND. The intro is a homily on the Prodigal son, setting the stage for the retreat conferences. The first conference is on the work of God the Father as well as the results of the fall of humanity. The second conference is a Biblical and theological articulation of the redemption we have in Christ Jesus. The third conference is on the work of the Holy Spirit in the soul, by means of reflecting on The Living Flame of Love by St John of the Cross. A fourth conference was a performative prayer session which, for various reasons, is not included in this playlist.

God woos us, draws us, desires us, delights in us...sometimes that wooing is tender and sweet like a soft song enveloping our hearts...other times, and for me in this season, that song isn't so sweet - it's more like the rowdy, pounding beats of a heavy metal jam screaming for attention - God woos softly when we need that tender touch, but he woo-hoos us and even Hey, YOU-s!! us when we need a jolt of truth. This is my story of finding true satisfaction in God and how finding satisfaction in Him first and God fully changed everything. It’s not that I had left Jesus – It’s that I was treating him like a social media friend following Him for what I could find interesting and motivational instead of surrendering every corner of my heart, mind, and soul to Him and finding ultimate satisfaction in Him first and Him fully. "Restored: Found, Saved, Loved by God" -Where do you go when the platitudes are meaningless, your heart is empty, your hope is gone? This is my story...so far. I'ts a story of Dittos, Christmas ornaments, broken vows and healing. When you ask, "Why me?" or "I just want this to be over"... Whether the season you're in right now is refreshing and simple or hard and complicated, you have a God who sees - and more than that - seeks and finds and loves you. Julie Brenton explores why women need each other, not only those who are your age, but also those from other generations in this talk at the 2020 REAL Women's Retreat at GI Free. What makes older women and younger women unique? What truths can they speak into each others' lives? In this personal and touching testimony, she looks at ways women can avoid the formalities of "mentoring" to instead build real, rich relationships with each other. In doing so, they can build each other up in a relationship with Christ.
Julie Brenton, speaking at the 2020 REAL Women's Retreat at GI Free, talks about how women can speak into each other's lives by looking at two examples from the New Testament — Jesus calling his disciples and Jesus with the woman at the well. When we encounter Jesus it's meant to transform us, not matter how are lives have been. He sees each of us and knows our hearts deepest desires and fears. As we live alongside one another and "come and go" like the disciples, He is asking all of us to remember that we were all once the woman at the well. He wants us to search for others like that.

I was recently reminded of a quote from Brene Brown that really stuck out to me: "The greatest barrier to belonging is fitting in." This past weekend I participated in a women's retreat and was triggered by that feeling of not fitting in. I felt different and uncomfortable, but instead of bailing, I tried something new.
