"Healing and being healed are some of the most human of all activities, and Brown encourages us to dive deeply into their rivers." Scott's Book Review In her new book Daughters of Green Mountain Gap, author Teri M. Brown dives deeply into the healing rivers of the main characters Granny Maggie, her daughter Carrie Ann, and granddaughter Josie May. Sponsored by Moravian Sons Distillery, Doc Chavent, and author Carla Stockton. Maggie McCoury, a generational healer woman, relies on family traditions, folklore, and beliefs gleaned from a local Cherokee tribe. Her daughter, Carrie Ann, believes her university training holds the answers. As they clash over the use of roots, herbs, and a dash of mountain magic versus the medicine available in the town's apothecary, Josie Mae doesn't know whom to follow. But what happens when neither family traditions nor science can save the ones you love most? Listen in for a chance to win a signed copy of Daughters of Green Mountain Gap. About The Guest(s): Jonathan Cruse is a pastor in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and has been serving at an orthodox Presbyterian church for over six years. He is married to Carrie Ann and they have three children. Jonathan is also the author of the book "The Christian's True Identity," which explores what it means to be in Christ.Summary: In this episode of Renewalcast, Coalt Robinson and Jay Wipf continue their series on the new Reformation catechism on human sexuality. They are joined by Jonathan Cruse, a pastor in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to discuss the topic of redemption in relation to human sexuality. They emphasize the importance of understanding the doctrine of redemption and how it shapes our understanding of salvation and the Christian life. They address the misconception that sexual sin is not a result of the fall and explain why it is crucial to have a proper understanding of redemption in order to grasp the depths of God's love and the call to obedience. They also discuss the compatibility of sexual sin with the gospel and the need for a correct understanding of Christian liberty. The episode concludes with a discussion on the identity of Christians and the process of sanctification.Key Takeaways:Understanding redemption is essential for grasping the depths of God's love and the call to obedience.Sexual sin is incompatible with the gospel and the new identity we have in Christ.Christians should not identify with their sin but with their union with Christ.Sanctification is a lifelong process that involves the work of the Holy Spirit in conforming us to the image of Christ. The New Testament contains numerous references to being "in Christ," highlighting the importance of our union with Him.Quotes:"We need to understand what salvation is really about. If we don't understand redemption and what has happened to me in redemption, I'm not going to realize the depths of the love that God has for me." - Jonathan Cruse"The gospel is for all of us, not just for them. This is for us to walk through with our families." - Coalt Robinson"Christ has broken the dominion of sexual sin over me. I have a renewed desire to reckon myself dead to my old way of sexual immorality." - Jonathan Cruse"Christ is faithful to me, and I've been called to be faithful to Him. Can I invite something that's incompatible with His call in my life into our relationship?" - Jonathan Cruse"Sanctification is a lifelong process. The Holy Spirit draws us to see Jesus better, to love Him more, and to follow after Him more." - Jonathan Cruse

In Carrie-Ann's own wordsI'm taking on the 28 Mile Challenge this September for Teenage Cancer Trust.Sadly my beautiful, brave, stunning, kind girl Alana has relapsed with AML for the 3rd time. I have no words, I am speechless. Walking 28 miles may not seem a lot, but getting up and dressed to face the day like she does is harder than you think. So if you would like to give me another reason to get up and out each day then please donate. Alana is being cared for by the TCT in Cardiff, with too many other young people facing the worst imaginable trauma. I would just like to help give them the best support they can have xEvery day, seven young people aged 13-24 hear the words "you have cancer". They will each need specialised nursing care and support to get them through it. Teenage Cancer Trust are the only UK charity dedicated to meeting this vital need - so no young person faces cancer alone.Every £30 raised could pay for an hour of care from a Teenage Cancer Trust nurse, who knows what cancer really means to young people and can provide thoughtful, sensitive, expert support.Thank you for your support https://www.facebook.com/donate/851422696612043/164093836709444This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4110266/advertisement

Welcome back to another episode of really pretty good podcast. This week in fashion we are just wrapping up NYFW Bridal where we got to see all of the top couture designer's take on wedding looks for this season. I'm actually recording this before the event has happened so I can't speak much to the trends we saw but I will definitely be sharing on Instagram so if you're interested in seeing my thoughts there, you can follow me @reallyprettygood. But in honor of bridal fashion week I thought what better time than now to bring on a very special guest to the podcast, and that is Bridal Dress designer Carrie Baskaran of Carrie Ann Bridal, who also happens to be my younger sister. Carrie left her corporate job to design custom wedding dresses full time and then recently launched Carrie Ann Bridal's first full original collection as well which includes 8 gowns, 2 overskirts, 3 veils and 2 casual bridal party dresses that are all classic looks with a twist, inspired by the Midwest bride. Carrie is based in Milwaukee but her collection is available online as well for those of you listening from somewhere else. I asked Carrie to join the podcast today to have a chat about how she got into her career as a bridal dress designer, her advice for brides who are just starting the process of looking for a dress, her thoughts on bridal trends, and a few little stories about her own wedding dress and love story. If you love love, love dresses, or love eavesdropping on two sisters chatting, I hope you'll find today's episode a nice fun listen! Jasper Ventures is a family-owned business that provides natural gas processing solutions to their clients, while also providing value to their employees and communities in a way that serves the Kingdom of God. In this episode, Carrie-Ann shares how she learned how to embrace working with God, partnering with Him to create a Kingdom culture within the company and provide leadership, love, and direction to their employees as together they solve problems in the oil and gas industry.
