This episode is all about our need to balance creating and consuming. In order to live our best lives, we need to meet our needs and as creators, we have a NEED to create! It is easy to put off or even forget about when we get caught up in endless scrolling, tv watching or overloading on tutorials.  We need to find time for ourselves to fulfill our needs and desires. Consuming isn't all bad - we learn by consuming, and most of us want our creations to be consumed/appreciated/listened to /seen. What did you create today? Did you create work that is in line with your goals? Are you happy with your production? Did you at least doodle for 5 minutes?What did you consume? Did you consume information that helped you learn something new?  Were you inspired? Did you waste time? Did you just need to relax? How do you feel about what you consumed? It's like yin and yang - dark & light - you can't have one without the other.  It is something that needs balance.  Take time to reflect on what you are creating and consuming .The newsletter is coming out shortly! This episode features Portland, Oregon artist, Barb Burwell. We discuss her art process, what she learned from having a broken ankle, art residencies, creating your own art critique group and a bunch of other stuff!Barb Burwell works as curator of gathered information.  She collects images, textures and forms, both physically and in her mind’s eye. Her work as an artist includes painting, drawing, mixed media works on paper, wood panel and canvas as well as sculpture. She also works as a fiber artist that employs fabrication techniques such as machine piecework, quilting, appliqué and hand embroidery.  "Looking Out Looking In" is her current body of work that explores the idea of one's internal/external landscape and how specific locations connect to feelings of nostalgia. The work is a collection of metaphorical and visual perspectives that are a direct response to her experiences collected afield, by witnessing the landscape and experiencing the surroundings of the Pacific Northwest. She takes much inspiration and nourishment from the outdoors and does the real work of art-making through long, contemplative walks. Conversation with Nick Ribera aka Chain Assembly - This is a followup from Episode #3 about the results of his Kickstarter campaign to raise money to manufacture Eros Tarot cards and prints. He tells us what he would have done differently in terms of shipping, printing and dealing with China and different vendors.
