So pour yourself a Blood & Sand cocktail and join us as we get Very Vintage about Rudolph Valentino!

It's even said that he owned a ring that was so cursed that it was the responsible for at least 5 deaths. Will we ever be able to separate fact from fiction?

Jake's story is one that has elements all of us can relate to, but the complexity and challenges are ones most of us can't imagine, but can certainly learn from. Jake talks about the expectations of him when he was a little girl, dressed in pink, through to his relationship with clothes today, with some memories that are both touching and harrowing. We're honoured he dropped by for a chat, as a new dad and busy film-maker and activist, and hope you get as much out of this episode as we did.
After a rollicking first season, the Stitchdown Shoecast is BACK for number two. And to make the return even more special, this first episode presents the first-ever Stitchdown Bootbate, an extremely formal and rigid debate...about boots!...pitting Shoecast co-host @tichoblancoshoes vs the formidable wide-leg-trousered opponent Jake, aka @almostvintagestyle.Let me tell you, over the course of the bootbate, these two get INTO it. Does the US or Japan make better boots? Horween vs. Shinki? Which kind of pants should be worn with engineer boots? CXL: very good, good, or less than good? How important is finishing on boots? All of these topics and more are viciously debated, and one winner will emerge—chosen by you.I can say quite honestly that this episode is not to be missed. This episode was sponsored by the excellent Viberg retailer Withered Fig—we wholeheartedly suggest you check out their boots and impressive collection of clothingTheme music: The Road by Punk Rock Opera

Emeli is a bunch of incredibly impressive contradictions. A scientist who's supremely artistic and musically talented. Humble and likeable yet intimidatingly accomplished. Bay tries not to be overwhelmed by Emeli's achievements and the fact she received her MBE aged 30, and uncovers how she's used clothes to find out who she really is, what it was like growing up as a mixed race girl in Scotland, her transition from science to singing and songwriting, and how it felt to be part of the 2012 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony. You go, Emeli. And remember everyone, keep thrifting!

This podcast is a fun way for them to share their collective vintage knowledge, give advice, and keep in touch while living across the U.S. from each other.
Landing in Hollywood at the age of nine, to star in major blockbusters like Addams Family and Mermaids alongside veterans like Cher and starlet of the day Winona Ryder was no mean feat. Figuring out who she really was and staying true to that has meant she's one of the most unique, intelligent voices we have today, and a wonderfully cool, unpretentious and fun person to talk to. We loved our time with Christina, we hope you do too!

On this week's episode of the Modern Vintage with Miss J Podcast, we discuss vintage style not vintage values. We are all given beauty and fashion advice from the external world around us. The question is do we want to keep believing, repeating, and following that vintage and rules? This week I give you a framework to look at vintage beauty advice and reframe it or chuck it. Just because your grandmama said it, doesn't make it right. Let's evaluate the usefulness of any vintage beauty and style advice. Maegan and Alex shared that they were grateful for the community outreach and support . They were very surprised that they were able to discover and connect with craftsmen and artists they have never worked with before. If you thought for a second that those two just take care of the vintage shop only, you are dead wrong! This power couple is taking a very active part in a local community service: East Village Independent Merchants Association. EVIMA is a coalition of merchants who work in the East Village, one of the most unique neighborhoods in New York City with a rich history and diverse culture.

Yves Saint Laurent, Loulou de la Falaise, Pierre Cardin, Chanel, Givenchy, couture, prêt-à-porter and vintage shopping in the Paris flea markets, this week’s Episode trés chic. Meet Paris-based Australian-raised stylist and César-winning costume designer, Catherine Baba.Vogue calls her a “fashion eminence”. Vanity Fair? An “original”. Indeed that magazine just included her on its 2017 Best Dressed List. She is also an accessories designer with her own line of sunglasses, a massive vintage fan and a walking fashion encyclopaedia with a particular fascination with the history of Paris fashion in the 1970s. But best of all, she's a mad keen cycler. Could there be there a more glamorous eco-aware-transport influencer? Pas possible! Please do check the shownotes to see some delightful photos of her pedalling around Paris. Riding a bike to the fashion week shows wearing a vintage kimono, high heels or even couture? No problem, darling. “It creates an aero-dynamism to the look,” she says. We recorded this interview at the Perth Fashion Festival soon after Yves Saint Laurent’s partner Pierre Bergé died, and we drill deep into what makes Paris fashion tick and how it has changed. This Episode is another insider's guide, a companion piece to Epsiodes 12, 13 & 14 with Simon Doonan, Stephen Jones and Linda Jackson.
