BIG NEWS FOR OUR VERY OWN DARRYL TIMMERS!!! Are McLaren back? This is the question after Lando Norris puts an impressive P2 into the books at his home GP. Teammate Oscar Piastri finished in P4, which is his highest finishing position to date. Of course, Max Verstappen takes P1 as per the usual in the 2023 season… But where was his teammate Sergio Perez? How about Alex Albon and that Williams!!! The progression of both Albon and the team have been outstanding this year. We are in the thick of the development race and the grid looks like it could shake up before the end of the season. Another Race Weekend… Canada's F1 Show Hosted By Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers of PRO Racing Ontario.
F1 returned to Montreal Canada for the 2023 Canadian GP!!! No surprises here… Max Verstappen finishes in the top spot! Fernando Alonso lands back on the podium with Lewis Hamilton finishing in P3. The pace seems to have completely disappeared for Sergio Perez, meanwhile it was a spirited drive from Alex Albon to finish in P7. The troubles continue at Ferrari as they just didn't seem to have the pace to compete for the podium but managed a 4-5 finish. Welcome to Monaco... Where the race is just a formality. The actual race occurs on Saturday around here and we were treated to something special during Qualifying. Max Verstappen managed to pip Fernando Alonso in the last sector to secure pole position on the street circuit. Setting the stage for Sunday, the race was highly uneventful until the rain showed up. Throughout all of it, Verstappen had the race in the bag lap 1, corner 1. He had some close calls, but it was never really in doubt. Alonso finished in p2 & Esteban Ocon brought it home in p3 which is an outstanding result for he and Alpine. Have a listen to our conversation as we break down the Monaco GP. Hosted by Dames Nellas and Darryl Timmers of PRO Racing Ontario.
Well… We did our best to discuss another boring race! Unless, of course you are a fan of Red Bull, Max Verstappen or the celebrity lifestyle!!! Simply put, the drive from P9-P1 was outstanding! Max Verstappen is on it, and easily the quickest driver on the grid at the moment. Couple that with the quickest car in the paddock and you have a recipe for a 3x World Champion. After Azerbaijan, there were some discussions in regards to Sergio Perez mounting an attack and actually challenging Max Verstappen for the title this year. Simply out, Perez will have to be more consistent than this is he does indeed have aspirations of becoming a world champion. Fernando Alonso snags his fourth 3rd place podium of the year proving that Aston Martin is the target for the remaining teams. However, with the speed deficit compared to Red Bull P3 looks to be the target for all remaining teams on the grid. Charles Leclerc had a weekend to forget with 2 crashes leading into the Grand Prix. Teammate Carlos Sainz had somewhat of a bounce back weekend… But only managing a P4 is not what team would call a success. All this and more discussed in the full episode of Another Race Weekend… Canada's F1 Show Hosted by Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers of PRO Racing Ontario.
While the Azaerbaijan GP left us with little to nothing to discuss… The sprint race provided some entertainment! A dust up between World Champion Max Verstappen and Mercedes driver George Russel has the world talking on Saturday. Meanwhile it was Sergio Perez, the street king who took home the glory on Sunday! Another Race Weekend… Canada's F1 Show Hosted by Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers of PRO Racing Ontario.
No I in team… But you can't spell Max Verstappen without ME!!! Let's not let drama get in the way of the real story here… George Russell is a F1 Grand Prix winner! George lands Mercedes their first win for the 2022 season, while Hamilton finishes P2 for their first 1-2 of the season as well. Carlos Sainz managed a difficult race to take the last spot on the podium while Charles Leclerc took home P4. Leclerc & Perez are in a tough battle for P2 in the overall drivers standings which leads to the controversy of the weekend. Verstappen was instructed to let Perez by to land him more points in the drivers championship… But Max refused. In the end, Perez finished P7 with Max in P6 and both Perez & Leclerc are tied on points going into the final round of the 2022 season. All of this and more discussed in this weeks episode of Another Race Weekend… Canada's F1 Show. Hosted by Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers of PRO Racing Ontario.
US GP It's official… RBR are Constructors Champions for 2022 but it comes with controversy. Still no word on reprimand for breaching the cost cap in 2021, the current situation has us asking questions. Should they even be eligible for the Constructors title? Why is this taking so long to conclude? Lewis Hamilton looked the strongest he's looked all season as he was truly competing for the win at COTA. In the end, the RB of Max Verstappen is just too quick… But Lewis had some words for both Max & RBR in the bullpen. Will Mercedes give him what he needs next season to make history? Finally, the issue with F1 in America was highlighted with disrespectful celebrities and people at the circuit who just don't care about the sport. Brad Pitt snubbing Martin Brundle, Tim Cook enthusiastically waving the chequered… All ridiculous and shameful in our opinion. All of this and more discussed in this weeks episode of Another Race Weekend… Canada's F1 Podcast. Hosted By Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers of Pro Racing Ontario.
Max Verstappen is the World Champion!!! It reads better than it actually was as this was a very anticlimactic championship win for Verstappen. It did however fit with such an anticlimactic race in Japan. It was raining and pouring in Japan, so much so that the race started, then stopped, then started again and in the end we got about 40 mins of lap time. Safety is the big discussion surrounding this GP as Pierre Gasly has been incredibly vocal about nearly hitting a tractor recovering Carlos Sainz's wall-parked Ferrari. To further add to the complications of the FIA decision making, it has been revealed both Red Bull and Aston Martin were in violation of the regulations in 2021… The same season that had the controversial ending in Abu Dhabi. So much to discuss this week on another episode of Another Race Weekend… Canada's F1 Podcast. Hosted by Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers of PRO Racing Ontario.
Singapore The Singapore GP is back on the Formula 1 Calendar and it was Sergio Perez taking the victory in the wet. Perez got it done right off the start, took the lead into corner one and never looked back. However, this race was anything but straight forward. Numerous VSC's, SC's, changing weather conditions etc. meant Perez had to bring his A game for 120 minutes around the tight and twisty Singapore circuit. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc started on pole, but was never able to attempt an overtake on the tricky track. Teammate Carlos Sainz finished behind him to rack up a good haul of points for the team this weekend. Mercedes struggled with both cars this weekend even though Lewis Hamilton managed to qualify third. When the feature race came around, he just couldn't get his Merc infront of Sainz, and even crashed into the barricade during the race. McLaren made the most of the race finishing 4-5 while main rival Alpine suffered 2 DNF's. All this and more discussed in this weeks episode of Another Race Weekend… Canada's F1 Podcast. Hosted by Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers of PRO Racing Ontario.
This race had the DNA for something epic… But the outcome was more of the same. It is Max Verstappen and the unbeatable Red Bull out in front for his 5th straight P1 finish. Sadly, for the more than 300,000 fans in attendance, the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc crossed the line in P2 after starting on pole. George Russell continues his Top 5 streak in his first year with Mercedes. P3 and another podium leaves him only a few points out of P2 in the overall drivers championship this year. Finally, Nick De Vries made his F1 debut after a last minute call up with Williams. De Vries managed for score points on his F1 debut, leaving us to ask why is he not in F1 as a regular competitor? All this and more discussed in this weeks episode of Another Race Weekend… Canada's F1 Podcast. Host by Dames Nellas and Darryl Timmers of PRO Racing Ontario.
Max Verstappen takes the win at his home race… BUT it was given to him by Mercedes! Lewis Hamilton had the pace, and strategy to take P1 for the first time in 2022. Mercedes opted for track position instead of pulling him in for a set of new tires… Sounds familiar. In the end, Lewis would finished P4 behind Leclerc, teammate George Russel & Max Verstappen. Did Red Bull orchestrate that late safety car with sister team Alpha Tauri? There is a lot of talk off track and the tin foil hats are out in droves! Ferrari continue their blunders in epic fashion… This time, not having enough tires for Carlos Sainz when he came in for his initial pitstop. The driver market continues to changes as talk of Indycar star Colta Herta is the latest to be brought into the F1 driver conversation. All of this and more discussed in this week's episode of Another Race Weekend… Canada's F1 Podcast. Hosted by Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers of PRO Racing Ontario.
Nothing stand in Verstappen's way and we can't see him losing a race for the remainder of the 2022 F1 season! Both Max, and RBR are simply head and shoulders above the rest of the competition... If we can even call it that. The biggest story out of F1 is the driver market shake up! Ricciardo is out of a seat, Piastri is in a dilemma with Alpine & McLaren... Gasly & Schumacher have had their names thrown around in potential seat swaps... It's all very interesting. Ferrari continue to drop the ball with strategy... From qualifying to fastest lap blunders we question Leclerc's loyalty to the team, and if he should actually be looking elsewhere to compete in F1. All this and more discussed in Another Race Weekend... Canada's F1 Podcast hosted by Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers of PRO Racing Ontario.
Ferrari is a DISASTER!!! There isn't really much more to say. All the talent in the world cannot fix terrible strategy decisions… And this is something Charles Leclerc is finding out far too frequently! It's all but complete at this point… Max Verstappen 2022 World Champion! Red Bull Racing #1 in constructors championship! We are literally just waiting for the races to come and go… NOBODY is left to challenge them or Max as it stands. Mercedes have uncovered some pace and look to leap frog Ferrari in the constructors championship as Ferrari… Well yeah… A legend says goodbye to the sport… While another legend says hello to a new team… Leaving a seat open for a rookie in 2023!!! It was a busy week in the world of F1. Join Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers of PRO Racing Ontario for this weeks episode of Another Race Weekend… Canada's F1 Podcast.
Austrian GP Charles Leclerc finds himself back in the top spot after he stole the win from Red Bull at their home circuit. Max Verstappen lacked a bit of pace this weekend, but still managed a P2 finish while keeping a healthy lead at the top of the drivers championship. Lewis Hamilton brings home P3 for the third race in a row… after quite the shunt in qualifying. He wasn't the only Mercedes driver to wreck in Quali as teammate George Russel managed to park his Merc in the wall as well. Notable drives from the rest of the field include Mick Schumacher, who grabs points for the second week in a row. Estebon Ocon had a great weekend to finish P5 in the feature. All of this, and more discussed in this weeks episode of Another Race Weekend… Canada's F1 Podcast. Hosted by Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers of PRO Racing Ontario.
There's a first for everything!!! Carlos Sainz tops the podium for the first time in F1 while Sergio Perez comes from the back to take P2. Lewis Hamilton gave the home crowd what they wanted with a P3 podium finish to round out the podium. Charles Leclerc will definitely be having conversations with his team principle after only managing to finish P4, while championship leader Max Verstappen had to nurse a struggling Red Bull home to a P7 result. Mick Schumacher managed to score his first set of points in F1 and for the first time this season, George Russel finished outside the top 5 with a DNF. It was a weekend of firsts and it is all discussed in this weeks episode of Another Race Weekend… Canada's F1 Podcast. Hosted by Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers
Max Verstappen just managed to hold off Carlos Sainz for P1 in the Canadian GP. Lewis Hamilton made his way back to the podium to take P3 while teammate George Russel continues his top 5 streak finishing in P4. Championship contender Sergio Perez suffered another DNF while Charles Leclerc took an engine penalty and managed a P5 finish. Canadian Lance Stroll managed to score points at his home race, while other notable drives include Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas & Ghanyu Zhou. All of this and more discussed in this weeks episode of Another Race Weekend… Canada's F1 Show. Hosted by Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers
Max Verstappen extends his lead at the top of the drivers championship with his win at the Azerbaijan GP. Teammate Sergio Perez jumps Charles Leclerc in the drivers standing following Leclerc’s second DNF of the season. Carlos Sainz suffered the same fate with a DNF as well. Mercedes had a strong weekend and managed to rack up some good points in the constructors standings. George Russel continues his top 5 finishing streak with his 3rd P3 of the season. Lewis Hamilton was able to finish in P4. Notable drives in the show included Pierre Gasly & Sebastian Vettel. All of this discussed in this weeks episode of Another Race Weekend, Canada’s F1 Podcast. Sergio Perez gets his REVENGE!!! After feeling hard done by his team in Spain, Perez climbed onto the top step in Monaco to become the most successful Mexican to ever race in Formula 1. Charles Leclerc continues to have bad luck in his home race as he finished 4th thanks to a poor strategy call by Ferrari. His teammate Carlos Sainz had a bounce back weekend finishing in P2 while Max Verstappen stretches his lead in the championship by finishing P3. George Russel continues his streak of top 5 finishes in the Mercedes. Another Race Weekend, Canada's F1 Podcast is hosted By Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers of PRO Racing Ontario.
Did Max have to work for this victory??? Or was it a gift from his teammate??? Or better yet, a gift from championship rival Charles Leclerc??? Max Verstappen wins in Spain for the 4th time this season. Teammate Sergio Perez finished in a reluctant second place, feeling hard done by his Red Bull Racing team as he thought he could have won the race had it not been for team orders. These 1-2 Red Bull results made possible by an engine failure to Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari. Leclerc was comfortably in the lead of the race from lights out, and most certainly would’ve taken the victory had it not been for a reliability issue. Teammate Carlos Sainz managed a P4 results after a spin early in the race put him on the back foot. George Russel continues his top 5 finishing streak in 2022 with his second P3 of the championship. Teammate Lewis Hamilton finished P5 after a lap 1 incident with Kevin Magnussen shuffled him down the order. All this and more discussed in this weeks episode of Another Race Weekend… Canada’s F1 Podcast. Hosted by Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers of PRO Racing Ontario.
Formula 1 has made it to South Beach! The first ever Miami GP has come to an end and the weekend did not disappoint. Between the parties, the celebrities, the glitz and glamour… We almost forgot there was a race on Sunday. It was business as usual at the front of the grid with Verstappen, Leclerc & Sainz landing podiums this weekend. Verstappen really cruised to victory despite having limited track time due to reliability issues leading into the GP Sunday. It was a nice bounce back for Sainz to be back on the podium after back to back DNF’s, and crashing in FP2. Leclerc had a steady race and is still on top of the WDC with a 19 point over Verstappen at the moment. George Russel kept his top 5 finish streak alive finishing in front of 7x World Champ Lewis Hamilton yet again. Russel and Mercedes decided to roll the dice with strategy, waiting for a safety car and it paid off. He was able to move from P12 - P5 this weekend with another strong showing. Alex Albon achieved his second race in the points this season finishing P9 while Canadian Lance Stroll rounded out the points in P10. All this and more discussed in this weeks episode of Another Race Weekend… Canada’s F1 Podcast. Hosted by Dames Nellas & Darryl Timmers of PRO Racing Ontario.
Formula 1 returned to Italy for the first sprint weekend of 2022. Max Verstappen had a dominant weekend as the Red Bull proved to be head and shoulders above the rest of the field. Verstappen maximized the points haul while his teammate Sergio Perez finished in P2. It’s the first Red Bull 1-2 since 2016. Ferrari had a weekend to forget… This was not the homecoming they were in for. Fresh off of extending his contract, Carlos Sainz didn’t get through corner 1 after contact with Daniel Ricciardo, ending his Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc had pace to podium, but a last minute mistake cost him dearly and he could only manage P6. Lando Norris finished in P3 with a solid drive for McLaren while the George Russel brings the Mercedes home in P4. Hamilton could only manage P13, leaving him out of the points and to further salt the wound… He was lapped by race leader Max Verstappen. All this and more discussed in this weeks episode of Another Race Weekend… Canada’s F1 Podcast.
Charles Leclerc is in phenomenal form after dominating this weekends Australian GP. He is the first driver on the F1 grid to net a grand slam since Fernando Alonso in 2010, and head leads the drivers championship by a mile! Max Verstappen suffered yet another blow in his title defence as he had to retire due to a technical issue… But his teammate Sergio Perez finished in second place. The question is, will Red Bull shift focus and develop the car around Perez as he’s beating Max in the drivers standings at the moment? The same can be said for Mercedes as George Russel steps on the podium for the first time with the team, and leads Lewis Hamilton in the drivers standings after 3 rounds. Alex Albon scored points for the Williams team after a risky strategy call payed dividends in Australia. All this and more to be discussed in this weeks episode of Another Race Weekend Canada’s F1 Podcast
SUPER MAX!!! Verstappen takes P1 for the first time in the 2022 Formula 1 Season. His teammate Sergio Perez was dealt a raw hand by the racing Gods to finish 4th after his first career pole position. Lewis Hamilton struggled to say the least... He didn't make it out of Q1 for the first time since 2017 while teammate George Russel finished the P5 in the race.
