Hosts Dan Jimenez and Alex Kirry review how Monza and the Italian GP went as Red Bull is being rundown by other teams on the grid. Charles Leclerc got a career win at the temple of speed but it was McLaren who is getting closer and closer in the constructors title race to Red Bull as both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris battled one another for a race win but ended up leaving Norris further from Max Verstappen than he could have been. Can Baku deliver another unpredictable race? Plus, the guys discuss the move of F1's most famed technical director, Adrian Newey from Red Bull to Aston Martin. Lawrence Stroll won the sweepstakes for the winningest car desgner of all-time. Will it change the fortunes for Aston?
This week we kick it off by finally telling Coy to stop talking about the Italian GP win. We get into some F1 news as usual. Then we go on some movie nonsense before we preview the upcoming race. Finally we give a sendoff to one of our favorite car show hosts.

Bryn Lucas is joined again by Jake Boxall-Legge and Filip Cleeren as they continue their analysis of the Italian Grand Prix. On this episode, the trio discuss Kimi Antonelli's exciting F1 debut, with the 18-year-old showing scintillating pace until a crash at the Parabolica on his second hotlap put him in the wall. A promising sign for his talent, a reckless crash on debut or something else entirely? And what can we expect of the teenager now he's confirmed to be joining Mercedes in 2025? Also, Kevin Magnussen became the first driver since Romain Grosjean in 2012 to be banned from a Grand Prix after picking up his 11th and 12th penalty points at Monza. But with multiple drivers thinking Magnussen's punishment was too harsh, is it time to look at the penalty point system? Also dialogue on Franco Colaptino's debut for Williams, and whether a young driver race at the end of Abu Dhabi's testing could be viable in the future. Learn more about your ad choices. The Prince of Italy, Charles Leclerc, does it again! He brings glory back to Maranello with an amazing win at the 2024 Italian GP! In this episode we discuss: Yet another start, yet another position lost Kimi + Raikkonen in a Merc
Against all odds, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc scored a momentous victory in the Pirelli Italian GP. McLaren-Mercedes appeared to have the race on a plate after seizing the front row in qualifying but an intra-team battle and resultant crazy mid-race pace played havoc with the McLarens' hard-compound Pirelli left-front tyres. Forced to stop twice, the McLaren drivers could do nothing about the pace, consistency and tyre management of Leclerc, who ran the correct one-stop strategy as predicted by the race's sponsor. Pole-sitter Lando Norris, what's more, was lucky to survive the first lap after his team-mate, Oscar Piastri, audaciously passed him on the outside into the second chicane. Norris swerved further to the inside to avoid any collision - and lost position not only to Piastri but also to Leclerc. Beginning with untimed practice on Friday morning, Peter Windsor looks back at an epic three days at the historic Monza Autodromo. It was difficult to know where to start as we looked back at the Italian GP - but Charles Leclerc eventually got the nod. Then it was on to McLaren and to the Monday morning realisation that, since Hungary, Lando Norris has lost a minimum of 16 points due to McLaren management decisions (or lack of them). Responding to questions from @CameronCcTV, Peter in this podcast goes on to analyse all aspects of Charles' momentous win, McLaren's loss and all points past, present and future. The Italian Grand Prix is never short of emotion or drama and 2024's version certainly didn't disappoint! After McLaren locked out the front row in qualifying, it was the surprise of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc running a one-stop strategy that earned him his second win of the season, and home glory for the Tifosi. Jake Boxall-Legge and Filip Cleeren join Bryn Lucas in the first of two Podcasts analysing all the action at Monza, including Leclerc's winning strategy, and McLaren fighting amongst themselves and the rise of their "Papaya Rules". Is it time for team orders in Woking? There's also a deep dive on the state of Red Bull. With Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez sixth and eighth respectively, the talks of the RB20's balance have been front and center. Just what has happened to the dominant Champions? And has the loss of Adrian Newey come back to haunt them? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
Well, it finally happened. After a slow decline, Red Bull finally had a truly shockingly bad race. And thus we are back to discuss what may be the cause of this extreme downturn in form for the flying bulls. We also discuss the recently launched Aston Martin Vanquish, and try and settle the currently raging SUV debate.
A home win Ferrari in front of the Tifosi could McLaren have actually won the race if they were smarter with their "Papaya Rules"? We deep dive into this, plus Red Bull's current form or like thereof and whether they will be caught in both the constructors and drivers championships. The prince of Monaco becomes the King of Monza, a one stop for the ages, how can you not love a Ferrari win at home. Leclerc drove for the masses, a one stop roll of the dice that crowned him the king on Monza once again, a giant upgrade package and maybe, just maybe another twist in the tail of 2024. Williams, did good. Well kind of, points for Albon and Colapinto didn't disappoint, but let's just sit tight, you just don't know what Vowels might do next. And Papaya Rules were all the rage, people have dropped some "love" for Oscar, but hey we asked for racing so we got it, just be careful what you wish for fans. All the plus much much more on this week's episode of BTRL.
In the Monza paddock, Tom Clarkson is joined by 2012 GP2 champion Davide Valsecchi and 2023 Formula 2 champion Théo Pourchaire for F1 Nation's review of an astonishing Italian Grand Prix that was won by Charles Leclerc in front of a jubilant Tifosi. How did Leclerc make a one-stop strategy succeed? Was this his best win in F1? What can we expect from Ferrari for the rest of 2024? And how big a missed opportunity was Monza for polesitter Lando Norris and McLaren? Could they have tried a one-stop race as well? And should they have had team orders in place instead of following ‘Papaya Rules'? Plus, Tom, Davide and Théo debate whether Mercedes have given Kimi Antonelli an F1 seat too soon, after they announced that the 18-year-old Italian will replace Lewis Hamilton in 2025. *** THIS EPISODE IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY... Round 16 of the Formula One World Championship took us to the Autodromo Nazionale Monza for the Italian Grand Prix, the home of the Tifosi and a race in which everyone roots for Ferrari. It didn't seem as it would be the day for the boys in scarlet red as the McLaren's were once again dominant, locking out the front row and controlling most of the race, but one strategical error was all it took from the pitwall, with the team bringing in both drivers for a two stop and Leclerc opting to hang it out on an old set of hards to make it to the end just 2.6 seconds ahead of Piastri. Pure euphoria. Elsewhere around the paddock, we saw the rewards of a large upgrade package for Ferrari, Antonelli was officially signed to Mercedes for 2025 onward, and F2 rookie Franco Colapinto replaced Logan Sargeant at Williams for the remainder of the season. The rookie sprint at Abu Dhabi is now in planning, Alpine employees came out to protest Renault's desire to draw back on their engine development and Bottas may be staying with Sauber for another year. A fantastic Italian GP left us ready for more and we can't wait for Baku in 2 weeks time. Thanks as always for stopping out On the Gravel with us!
Could McLaren have one-stopped their way to win the 2024 Italian Grand Prix at Monza? How did Charles Leclerc and Ferrari manage to snatch a surprise win at home in front of the tifosi? We dissect LEC's super-consistent lap times on the hard tyre - the one that gave him the win. McLaren and team orders - are they too late in implementing one? And of course, Oscar Piastri's massive overtake on Lando Norris on the opening lap, how did he pull that off? In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil Arora, Kunal Shah & @f1statsguru re-live the moments from the 2024 Italian Grand Prix. Kevin Magnussen's one race ban, but a point for Haas F1 Team, Alexander Albon and more so, Franco Colapinto's race debut. Also, what's your favourite Ferrari Formula 1 race car through the years?
