Covered with the Utah FOP

Brett sits down with special guest Kresdon Bennett to go over officer involved critical incidences. This is one of the worst parts about being a police officer and why working with the FoP is so important and helpful. Not only are they going over the what, where and how but more importantly what is being done in order to help officers involved in an awful situation. 

Only the usuals on the episode today. We are moving forward with our last little bit of winter and some of the rust shows. Can't wait for spring to hit and warm up these old joints and bones. 

Wishing everyone happy Valentines or Ground Hogs day or whatever. The FoP boys are back without a guest in order to break things down and go over some future and predicted legislative measures, how they could affect the group and what it's like to bargain with a labor organization.

Getting the new year of right by heading slightly down south to the Utah County chapter of the FoP. Kyle Curtis is the chapter head for Utah County and shares how the FoP is working with and helping to improve policing in that part of the state.  

It's that special time of year...no, Bret hasn't brewed his special version of egg nog. It's the time to remember the reason for the season. The boys sit down with FoP chaplan Matt Cluff in order to try and remember the why during this special time of year. 

There really isn't a better way to celebrate our 100th episode on Covered than with our guest today Brandy Vega and her husband. Brandy and the Promise 2 Live foundation have created an amazing message of hope and endurance that we are trying to spread to our brothers and sisters wearing the badge. We recorded this episode prior to the horrific assassination attempt on former President Trump. However, we wanted to communicate our position as an organization and let our voice and vote count. Bret and the boys go over a few politcal positions and we start to get into a heavy political season.

If you had a chance to choose between baking in 100+ degree heat in a polyester suit or enjoy some open roads while on patrol while everyone is tucked in bed, which would you choose? The FoP boys go over the pros and cons of being on the beat during the heat. 

Bret laid out a great sceneario of the huge plight for the modern officer...it's 3am, you have tracked down the suspect and are currently wating proceed with an arrest...where is your warrant? Do you call and wake up a judge or try and track down paperwork that will be impossible to find? Sometimes the job that needs to be done is one that isn't fun, sexy or safe. Our police officers go to work everyday to keep the community and families safe and in a good place. Nobody is perfect in a world full of choas but having trained, intelligent and invested police officers makes a hell of a difference.
