Ash's Cajun roots fuel the voice of his shows, from food and festivals to the rhythms of Gulf Coast talk. He's intentional about balancing local flavor with wider appeal, sanding just enough to travel while keeping the soul intact. And yes, we talk AI. Ash rejects the shortcut culture that treats prompts as authorship. For him, AI is a power tool: great for fake toy ads and parody promos that break the acts, never a stand-in for writing, acting, timing, or direction OR for the cartoons he creates.. he does those by hand. That ethic pairs with a strategic home base—public access TV—so he can air five nights a week, retain ownership, and iterate until the season is ready for broader platforms.https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWmXNniUqygl5WML44m6z8eiMZ3SD8sRI&si=2fjxLYNUlc5SOIsGVoiced by Brian Plaideau Have you been injured? We sat down with actor Billy Slaughter to trade stories that bounce from a PBS deep dive as William Faulkner to the wild energy of Scary Movie 6, with a healthy dose of Cajun flavor and con-floor surprises. Billy talks preparation and play in the same breath: walking Faulkner's halls to find the cadence of a literary giant, then flying to Atlanta to help reboot a definitive horror comedy with original players returning and a stack of fresh cameos. He also teases opening weekend buzz for Five Nights at Freddy's 2 and reflects on how Twisted Metal and the Anne Rice Immortal Universe introduced him to wildly different, equally passionate fanbases.Voiced by Brian Plaideau Have you been injured?

Olivia also discusses sugar cane manufacturing technique, sugar cane varietals, and we even get to taste some of these amazing spirits! ----------Olivia Stewart is President of Oxbow Rum Distillery, which her family started in Baton Rouge in 2016. They have owned and operated their Louisiana cane farm and sugar mill for five generations, which provides all their raw ingredients for producing their estate rums. Growing up on the farm instilled a passion for all things sugarcane––and eventually rum. After pursuing an art dealing career in New York, Olivia moved back home in 2020 to help turn the distillery around during the height of the pandemic. With the help of her husband as a distiller, they refined all processes and rebranded to Oxbow Rum Distillery in 2022. Their products have won multiple international awards, including Best White Rum at San Francisco International Spirits Competition. They ferment and distill every drop from either fresh-pressed cane juice or Grade A molasses, all sourced from the family estate 20 miles from the distillery. Olivia sees Oxbow Rum as an expression of the land and sugarcane that has been part of her family and the community for generations.----------Don't miss out on any of the action!  Head to www.bardtender.com to stay up to date with all of the Bardtender content, find resources for mental and physical wellbeing, get access to education materials, and check out what all of our bards are up to!

The hosts discuss how desegregation under Brown was hampered in schools by a policy of “all deliberate speed” where the speed was often zero.  In contrast, and despite the fact that in large portions of the nation education is separate and unequal, the Trump administration has begun an “all speed ahead” policy of eliminating decrees which contained desegregation requirements'.   https://www.axios.com/2025/05/02/doj-decades-old-school-desegregation-louisiana   In this episode of Ellis Conversations, co-host Jamil Ellis and his father, retired federal magistrate Judge Ronald Ellis, reflect on the 71st anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education—not just the 1954 decision, but its overlooked 1955 follow-up. They explore the legal and societal impacts of desegregation mandates, the resistance that followed, and how today's rollback of civil rights enforcement—particularly around school desegregation—echoes familiar patterns. With real-life stories, including Ruby Bridges and Prince Edward County's school closures, the conversation traces decades of policy evolution—from Milliken v. Bradley to Roberts Court rulings that undermine systemic remedies for segregation. The episode also offers generational perspectives on optimism, protest, and the need for youth leadership in safeguarding educational equity.

There is the East Coast and there is the West Coast, but aficionados of hazy IPA know not to sleep on the Gulf Coast, thanks largely to Parish Brewing (https://parishbeer.com) in Broussard, Louisiana. Parish's Ghost in the Machine has become a juggernaut in the world of hazy IPA, earning accolades such as a 2019 Beer of the Year (https://beerandbrewing.com/the-best-19-beers-of-2019/) from Craft Beer & Brewing and a mention on critic Alex Kidd's top ten list in 2020 (https://beerandbrewing.com/critics-list-alex-kidds-best-in-2020/). More recently, Parish won a spot in the top 20 small regional breweries (https://beerandbrewing.com/best-in-beer-2023-readers-choice-your-favorite-breweries-by-size/) as voted on by the readers of Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine®. Nor is their success limited to IPA—Parish also picked up a silver medal at the 2023 Great American Beer Festival for its top-selling wheat beer, Canebrake. In this episode, head brewer (and Master Cicerone) Ryan Speyrer joins the podcast to discuss the ways they brew their iconic hazy IPAs, touching on: the evolution of Ghost in the Machine, from West Coast to hazy the roles that wheat and oats do (and don't) play in hazy IPA balancing specific hop varieties between whirlpool and dry hop to maximize the expression of each using classic hops such as Cascade along with Simcoe in modern, fruit-forward IPA the importance of extended cold-conditioning And more. (Part 3) In the spring of 2005, law enforcement officials in southern Louisiana had a growing number of murder victims they had begun to suspect were connected to an unidentified serial killer operating in the area. The victims were all men, mostly in their twenties and thirties, many had histories of drug and alcohol abuse or were known to police as sex-workers, and all had been strangled and dumped in secondary locations.Over the course of a decade, Ronald Dominique developed into one of the worst and most prolific serial killers in American history; yet his story and those of his victims remains largely unknown and ignored by the mainstream media.
