    In this episode I share a personal experience of where I was at when I truly hated my body. I find that there is a wide range of feelings towards our bodies: We hate them and can't stop thinking about them. We avoid them and fully disconnect (maybe out of no longer "hating" them and also maybe because we aren't ready to fully "love" them.) And loving them for what they do for us, in a nonjudgemental way. Where are you on your self love journey?     A new year brings reflection and mini adjustments around here, not huge massive goals! As I reflected on 2022 I recognized it was a year of WORK. Physical work, emotional work, spiritual work. And now I'm ready for some LIGHTHEARTED FUN! :) If you have found yourself in a situation where the emotion feels heavy and you are unsure how to feel lighter, this can help you. These 5 steps will not help you avoid the emotion, but rather notice the emotion and process it so you can move forward feeling lighter. 1. Stop being “busy” and allow yourself 10 minutes of intentional quiet time to pause. 2. Begin writing whatever comes to your mind. 3. Get yourself outside for a walk if you can. 4.     "I love you. I am listening" I recently had a beautiful meditation experience where this was the focus. And for the first time in a meditation, mid way through, we were guided to place our hands on our heart, and cradle our head down as if to bring our mind closer to our hearts. This new posture immediately brought me back to the days when my boys were babies and I would hold them at my heart and automatically cradle them with my head. It was an automatic expression of love. Of caring. And now I was doing that with my own heart... Beautiful. It was a way to connect to my body in a whole new light. It also had a Spiritual connection for me. While I attend the LDS Church, I have allowed myself to rebuild my foundation focusing only on Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother for quite some time. That is where I have chosen to place my energy and pin pointed focus on growing my testimony, and truly, it's been beautiful. As I created this posture within myself, I also was reminded of the loving heart and listening ear of each of those spiritual figures. I hope this helps you the way it has helped me as well.     One quick way to turn around your day and re-group is the 2 Minute Turn Around Trick. Grab paper if you want, but preferably the notes app on your phone. Set a 2 minute timer. Begin writing everything down that you are grateful for until the timer stops. Then, the next time that you are overstimulated, frustrated, sad, etc you can grab your phone and read through the things you are thankful for. Then, set a 2 minute timer again in that moment and continue your list. Do this again and again as many times as you need and create this beautiful list of all you are blessed with.     This is the greatest analogy that has helped me shift my mindset and explore what voice inside I really let run my life. If you can use this 3 chair perspective and apply it to your specific situations/feelings you will be able to build a better relationship with YOUR compassionate observer. Do you let "The Criticizer" encourage change with harsh "motivation?" Do you let "The Criticized" get squashed and trampled every single day trying to make the changes and deal with the thing rather than hiding away? Or do you allow "The Compassionate Observer" take the leading role in your self talk story and validate, understand and support each piece with kindness? *This analogy comes form Kristin Neff's book, "Self Compassion."

    Ep. 12 Motherhood: The Hard Doesn't Last Forever

    The newborn years of mother hood are hard, and also wonderful. Let's talk about some of the things that can help us stay grounded as we go through parenting that can help at any stage of motherhood. Being aware of your feelings and your needs before it goes too long can be really helpful as a self compassionate mom. Recognizing your divine femininity that is already there to help you know what you need can be a helpful parenting tool. Writing, talking and expressing your thoughts and feelings to someone you trust or in your own notebook can be helpful as well! And always, be aware and touch base with your doctor even if you don't think mental health challenges will affect you. Postpartum depression, anxiety and OCD are so real and often so ignored because we think we can just handle it on our own or figure it'll get better someday. Get the help.     Ep. 7 Improve Your Marriage With Compassion

    Relationships can get tricky, and beautiful, and complicated, and fun and hard and great! What could happen if you began to use more compassion in your marriage? Maybe first towards yourself when you are the cranky dramatic one, so there is less blame placed on your partner for your feelings. Then maybe towards your spouse when they are overreacting and could actually just use someone to help them figure out what's going on inside of them? Do you think compassion could help you become closer? I sure do. After 10 years of marriage (as of the day this episode releases) Neal and I have put compassion at the front and center of our marriage from just a few months in, and we haven't looked back. There are times when it is easier to use compassion with each other, and harder times. But overall, it's been one of the greatest tools we've used to help our marriage in a healthy way.     Self love is a hot topic these days, but let's address some of the myths about self love and rephrase those into realities. You see, self love is not a selfish thing to focus on. In fact, it's really easy to fall into the trap of "take care and serve everyone else" that you fall off of your priority list! So, let's change that and recognize that you are not selfish. You are not rude by placing boundaries that welcome positivity over negativity. And the MEN in your life are just as in need of self love as you are, they just might need your help opening that door in a safe way.     You may or may not like feelings haha and both are okay! The thing is, we all have stuff that weighs us down with stress/anxiety/overwhelm and often times we may not even realize the toll it's taking. By practicing meditation and mindful living we make a little space to recognize what is going on, and begin to move through it to a place of peace. This is why I incorporate Hawaiian Meditations that I've written into every class I teach/event I speak at/etc. It is so important to take the time to slow down, notice our breath, and feel the things.
