Check out Ryder Donovan's Season Highlights at GoldenKnightsWatch.com The Golden Knights Watch Podcast is pleased to welcome Vegas Golden Knights Prospect, Ryder Donovan to the show. Jack Manning spoke at length with this intriguing player about being drafted by the Golden Knights, what it will take for him to reach the NHL, and how he plays the game. Donovan was picked 110th overall by the Vegas Golden Knights and is a 6'4" power forward with excellent speed, great hands, and a high hockey IQ. Beyond his raw skills, Donovan is a highly likable and coachable prospect with a toolkit that all coaches will love. Donovan was the top American high school draft prospect in 2019, and will only continue to improve as he plays against more difficult competition in the NCAA. Although his 2019-20 point totals didn't lead the league, he continues to show his ability to create scoring chances for his teammates and to finish the chances he's given. He uses his high-end speed to make impressive plays on both the forecheck and the backcheck. Relying on his physical tools alone, Donovan projects as at least a bottom-6 forward in the NHL, However, with enough hard work and the right development path, he has a real chance to develop into a dangerous top-6 power forward. Donovan is heading into his sophomore year at the University of Wisconsin and could be as close as one or two seasons from turning pro with the Golden Knights organization.

Were there ANY silver linings or bright spots to be had? AJ Alexander goes over every painful detail -- and as usual does it in 10 minutes or less!
Marc-Andre Fleury was in prime form tonight on his way to 31 saves through OT, including two more stops in an exhilarating shootout, leading the Vegas Golden Knights to a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night -- the second game of a back-to-back, capping off a three game Eastern Time Zone road trip. Jack Manning covers all the details in 10 minutes or less, including post-game audio from players and Coach Gerard Gallant!
It was a brutal game for just about everyone on the Vegas Golden Knights team with the exception of one particularly white-hot Reilly Smith. Yes, that includes Mark Stone -- who was uncharacteristically quiet versus the Philadelphia Flyers in what was not only a losing effort -- but a game most Golden Knights players and fans would like to forget. That said, there were some rare bright spots and broad-scope advantages to this game, and the GoldenKnightsWatch.com crew get into the nitty gritty -- and as usual -- do it in 10 minutes or less!

Although the Golden Knights looked deadly through the first period of Game 7 against the Nashville Predators, a lack of effort and a few bad bounces would lead the Golden Knights to their third loss of the season, bringing their overall record to 4-3-0. Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty would each pick up 5-minute majors for fighting, which almost led Stone to a Gordie Howe hat trick. In this episode of the Golden Knights Watch Postgame Pokecheck Podcast we analyze all of Game 7, hear from Gerard Gallant and Reilly Smith, and we find out which player’s lazy play led directly to the first goal of the second period. As always, this Golden Knights Watch Podcast Postgame Pokecheck breaks down the entire game in ten minutes or less. Listen and subscribe on your favorite podcast platform!
For the first time this year, the Golden Knights faced a back-to-back match-up against two Pacific Division rivals. For the first time in Golden Knights history, they have lost a game in Arizona, bringing their season record to 2-2. Vegas had a tough evening against the Coyotes, as Subban joined Schmidt, Eakin, Whitecloud, and Tuch on the injured list. While Cody Glass would set up Shea Theodore for a goal to end the first, that would prove to be the lone highlight for Vegas. In tonight’s post-game podcast we break down the entire game in under ten minutes, looking for any positives we could pull from the game while still taking the biggest struggles head on. Listen and subscribe on your favorite podcast platform!
After starting the season with 2 victories against their biggest rival, the Golden Knights struggled to put a full 60-minute effort together in Game 3 against the the 2019 Eastern Conference Champions, the Boston Bruins. While the Golden Knights' top-6 forwards and Marc-Andre Fleury were excellent as usual, their third and fourth line struggled, and several defenders were simply bad. The Golden Knights' rookies continue to impress and they are going to make it very difficult for Gerard Gallant to take them out of the lineup when Nate Schmidt, Cody Eakin, and Alex Tuch return to the lineup. In tonight’s post-game podcast we break down the entire game in under ten minutes.
Not satisfied with merely embarrassing the Sharks on National Television for the Vegas home opener, the Golden Knights took the fight to San Jose and took a pound of flesh in front of their crowd. In a 5-1 victory over their biggest rivals, all four lines were rolling and producing while the defense remained stalwart. Alex Tuch, Cody Eakin, and Nate Schmidt are still injured, making room for the debut of the Golden Knights 2017 2nd round pick, defenseman, Nick Hague. Four different Golden Knights combined for five goals, including 3 from fourth-liners Tomas Nosek and Wiliam Carrier. In tonight’s post-game pokecheck we break down the entire game in under ten minutes.
The Golden Knights exacted some revenge on the the San Jose Sharks in their 4-1 victory over the team in teal With key forwards Alex Tuch and Cody Eakin injured coming into the game, the last thing they needed was for their top defenseman, Nate Schmidt, to be rendered unavailable. Unfortunately, just ten minutes into the first period, a questionable knee-on-knee collision with Logan Couture would leave the Knights short staffed. Meanwhile, Cody Glass, the Golden Knights first-ever draft pick scored his first goal in his first NHL game, and looked like could be a difference maker for Vegas immediately.
Jack Manning & AJ Alexander return for a full-length episode to open the season, and breakdown both the team's play during the preseason games, as well as the moves the team has made to shape the current roster -- including a move unpopular with the guys and fans. The injury bug bites Alex Tuch again, as he will miss yet another Golden Knights opening night, as he is listed week-to-week. AJ asks Jack about why this could be a blessing in disguise -- as long as Gerard Gallant goes along with Jack's plan. Speaking of injuries, Cody Glass has made the opening squad -- and both guys examine why it would benefit both player and team to start Glass higher in the lineup than you may think. Valentin Zykov has shown why he has truly earned his third-line winger spot -- regardless of injuries -- and the guys talk why. Position battles make themselves more clear as AJ & Jack discuss different lineup possibilities, and wrap up all the other details worth analyzing over what looks to be an absolutely electric opening night.
The Golden Knights dominated the San Jose Sharks, and even though it was Game 7 of the preseason, both teams seemingly treated it as it counted. It was certainly a tremendously chippy game -- resulting in over 100 penalty minutes -- the majority of which came from the Sharks. It was definitely an intense finish for the preseason, and fortunately the Golden Knights Watch Podcast Post-Game Pokecheck gives you all of your post-game analysis in ten minutes or less! The Golden Knights lost a game that came down to the very last millisecond against the Los Angeles Kings 3 goals to 2 in Game 6 of the preseason, which means its time for a Golden Knights Watch Podcast Postgame Pokecheck, where we give you all of your post-game analysis in ten minutes or less! In a game that was allegedly one of two "dress rehearsals" for the Golden Knights, the lineup failed to meet expectations two periods in -- but that doesn't mean there wasn't plenty to observe when it comes to opening night implications.
Gerard Gallant put it best, saying the entire team played badly against Colorado. That said, Jack Manning & AJ Alexander still have thoughts on the various position battles being fought across the Golden Knights roster. The Golden Knights lost to the Colorado Avalanche 4 goals to 1 in Game 5 of the preseason. Fortunately, the Golden Knights Watch Podcast Post-Game Pokecheck gives you all of your post-game analysis in ten minutes or less! Listen and subscribe on your favorite podcast platform: Google Play iTunes Spotify Sticher Player.fm Every Golden Knight struggled tonight in what should have been an opportunity for one or more bubble players to claim a spot in the opening night lineup. Instead, we saw a team that lacked the jump and pop that you’d expect from players whose careers are on the line. Malcolm Subban was mediocre tonight, letting in 4 goals on 32 shots, while the anemic offense of the Knights only managed to get 17 shots on goal. The Golden Knights have a number of tough decisions to make over the next few days, and tonight’s game didn’t make those choices any easier. Have questions you want answered on the podcast? In this week's podcast, Jack Manning and AJ Alexander air their final grievances about the heartbreaking trade of Nikita Gusev to the New Jersey Devils. The guys debate whether George McPhee was completely truthful during his post-trade press conference, how much spin surrounds the trade, and how management's salary missteps led the Golden Knights to the loss of a potentially elite scoring threat. But this episode isn't all doom and gloom-- the guys do their best to find the silver lining by discussing how the Knights could leverage their draft picks in advance of the Seattle expansion draft.
