The Edmonton Oilers made history with back-to-back hat tricks by defencemen; Bouchard and then Ekholm, the former now sits among the league’s top-scoring blueliners, after a typically slow start to the season. In Toronto, William Nylander was fined $5,000 for an ill-advised gesture toward a TV camera, a minor distraction but not enough to hide the Leafs’ returning inconsistency, raising questions about whether Brad Treliving needs to make a move with the Olympic break looming. Buffalo continues its surprising surge behind the league’s hottest goalie, Alex Lyon, forcing tough decisions on players like Alex Tuch as playoff hopes feel real for the first time in years. Winnipeg’s playoff fight hit another low after a 5–1 loss to Detroit, prompting a harsh postgame from Scott Arniel and renewed debate about whether the Jets should re-tool on the fly. Meanwhile, Vancouver’s injury woes deepen with Brock Boeser and Zeev Buium sidelined, in addition to growing concern that Thatcher Demko may be shut down to ensure he’s fully healthy for next season.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

When a night-shift train operator on Chicago's Blue Line realizes a recurring passenger is actually a ghost from a 1983 accident, he decides to break every protocol to help her finally reach the stop she missed decades ago.Tales From The Blue Line: Every morning at three, Mason and Ally ride the Blue Line into downtown Chicago together. Tyler and Liam are back to break down the Oilers' wild 7–4 win over their Pacific Division rivals, the Anaheim Ducks, in a game where the blue line completely took over. Edmonton's offense came almost entirely from the defence on Monday night, as Oilers defencemen accounted for six of the team's seven goals in a truly unbelievable performance.Mattias Ekholm led the way with the first hat trick of his NHL career, capping off a dominant night that also made history. With Ekholm's three-goal performance coming one game after Evan Bouchard recorded a hat trick of his own, the Oilers became the first team in NHL history to have teammate defencemen record hat tricks in consecutive games. Tyler and Liam recap the chaotic second period, which saw four goals in just a 3:49 stretch, and discuss how rare — and ridiculous — that sequence really was.The boys also break down Tristan Jarry's night in the crease, as he stopped 36 of 40 shots and made several key saves to keep the Oilers in control during some pushback from Anaheim. They'll discuss what this performance says about Jarry's role moving forward and how the goaltending situation is shaping up during the current homestand.Oilersnation News Director Zach Laing joins the show to share his thoughts on Edmonton's play at home, the momentum they're building, and what he believes the team should prioritize as the trade deadline approaches. Later on, Daily Faceoff contributor Matt Larkin stops by to run through his latest trade board, highlighting which names could realistically be available and how the Oilers might fit into the deadline market. The episode wraps up with What's Trending around the NHL and the world of sports, before finishing with the daily betting picks for bet365.Website: https://oilersnation.com/https://twitter.com/OilersNation/ https://www.youtube.com/@Oilersnationdotcom/ https://www.facebook.com/OilersNation/https://www.instagram.com/oilersnationdotcomhttps://www.tiktok.com/@oilersnation SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!

Quebec's commercial real estate market has changed fast, and the old "local only" playbook does not hold up anymore. Louis Bergeron, partner at HPDG, joins Axel Monsaingeon to unpack what appraisers are seeing before the headlines: how developers now chase opportunities across the province, why 2024 felt frozen, and what shifted in 2025 to bring buyers and sellers closer together. Louis also shares the real story behind PDG's roots coming out of Desjardins, how the firm grew through acquisitions and mergers, and why a merger has to be "1 + 1 = 3" or it is not worth doing. They dig into PDG's full-service model from valuation and property management to tax appeals, litigation support, and expropriation tied to major projects like the REM and the Blue Line extension. Louis closes with what PDG is building for 2026, including a refreshed brand and a bigger push to share market insights, plus why comparing cap rates is often harder than people think. Thursday night shapes up as an intriguing one in Saint Paul, Minnesota, as the Winnipeg Jets take on the Wild. With Neal Pionk, Haydn Fleury, and Collin Miller all listed as week-to-week on the blue line, the situation has opened the door for recent call-ups Elias Salomonsson and Isaak Phillips to gain additional NHL experience. It will be interesting to see how the Jets respond to a heavier injection of youth into the lineup as they look to win their fourth straight game -- something they haven't accomplished since the second week of the season. Could the return of prospects to the roster also create an opportunity for Winnipeg to explore the trade market? Several names are circulating around the league, with some Jets players rumored to be part of ongoing discussions. Best-in-the-business NHL insider with TheFourthPeriod.com David Pagnotta joins Cam and Jim to provide insight into the behind-the-scenes conversations happening across the National Hockey League. In this fast-paced segment, Marc Malusis breaks down the pivotal decisions facing New York's biggest franchises. He dives into the NFL Draft debate, weighing the high-stakes potential of Fernando Mendoza against the technical polish of Simpson, while cautioning the Jets against repeating their history of "convincing themselves" into a quarterback. The conversation then shifts to the ice, where Malusis offers a sobering evaluation of the New York Rangers. He discusses the closing championship window, the lack of homegrown player development, and the tough reality of navigating a veteran roster in a salary-cap world. Whether it's draft capital or blue-line struggles, Malusis provides the essential New York sports perspective.

//The Wire//2300Z December 11, 2025////ROUTINE////BLUF: AUSTRALIAN AGE VERIFICATION LAW COMES INTO EFFECT. ARRESTS MADE IN LAST WEEK'S STABBING ATTACK IN CHARLOTTE.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Australia: Yesterday Australia's Age Verification law came into effect for most websites, effectively blocking the vast majority of social media to the entire nation, unless users upload a scan of their face to prove that they are over 16 years old, and thus allowed to be on social media.Caribbean: The tanker vessel seized by the United States yesterday has been identified as the M/T *SKIPPER*, one of the infamous "shadow fleet" vessels which is used to smuggle oil around the world. The *SKIPPER* was her most recent name change, and at the time of capture she was flying the flag of Guyana (though her registration status is dubious at best). As of this afternoon, AIS ship tracking platforms noted her position being just off the east coast of St. Lucia, heading north at around 10 kts.-HomeFront-North Carolina: More details have come to light regarding the stabbing attack that took place on the Blue Line commuter train in Charlotte last week. Back on December 5th, a stabbing was reported on the train, with the assailant eventually being arrested. At the time of the incident, the attacker was not identified, but after a few days authorities said the attacker was Oscar Gerardo Solorzano-Garcia, an illegal immigrant from Honduras who had multiple warrants out for past violent crimes, to include aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.Analyst Comment: From here, the situation takes a rather unfortunate turn. Solorzano stabbed a man on the train, who was hospitalized with severe wounds. Earlier this week, the victim was identified as Kenyon Dobie, and was lauded as a hero during the attack because of his efforts to confront the attacker to stop him from harassing other commuters. Dobie did intervene, and prevented the attacker from bothering other passengers, which resulted in him getting stabbed in the process. However, after this news story hit the local media, and the victim made statements in front of the camera, Dobie (the victim) was arrested. Turns out, he had open warrants for his own arrest for beating a pregnant woman so severely she received skull fractures during a domestic dispute. Both Solorzano and Dobie are being held in jail due to Iryna's Law preventing their release.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comment: Unlike many other cases of Digital ID being mandated around the world, Australia has implemented even more dystopian procedures to take effect during this rollout. Of note, the social media platforms which are known to cause extreme harm to children (such as Discord and Roblox) are exempt from the social media ban. However, the platforms that are affected, are impacted in very specific ways.As one might expect, VPNs are popular ways to circumvent such crackdowns on speech. However, the IP addresses associated with VPNs are public record, so social media companies can easily blacklist those IPs, effectively making VPNs useless for evading the ban. At least some platforms have been observed using these blacklists (but not all). For those in the United Kingdom wondering about how their own Digital ID scandal will play out, this might be a clue; Australia is providing a case study for what a more totalitarian crackdown on communications throughout the global West might look like. How serious platforms are taking this plan is anyone's guess, and reports vary widely. Some users report no issues whatsoever with being prompted to verify their age, whereas others have reported every app they have now requiring a face scan. Some users report that they can simply put in a false date of birth with no verification at all, and others report their accounts being hard-locked even though the mandate does

SUSPECT AT LARGE FOLLOWING SUBWAY STABBING IN NEW YORK. ICE OPERATIONS CONTINUE AMID LOCAL RESISTANCE.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------HomeFront-Florida: Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick has been indicted by a grand jury for embezzling $5 million of FEMA funding that was distributed due to the Hurricane Milton disaster response.Analyst Comment: As a reminder, Rep. Cherfilus was in office during the infamous Hurricane Milton scandal, which saw FEMA officials ordering their employees to not provide aid to residences that had Trump signs in their front yard. FEMA supervisor Marn'i Washington was fired by FEMA, but was not prosecuted for her crime of violating the Hatch Act.Illinois: Yesterday an arson attack was reported on a Blue Line train, which involved an assailant dousing a woman with a flammable liquid before setting her on fire. The attacker has been identified as Lawrence Reed and was arrested shortly after the attempted murder.Analyst Comment: Reed has a criminal record spanning nearly four decades, which have involved him being arrested and released 72 times, including around a dozen times for felony crimes. Several of these crimes involved arson, but each time he was arrested he was released. In at least one case the judge released him from a psych ward...because he was deemed too dangerous to remain in custody as he would repeatedly and violently assault staff members at the ward. He was released into the general public with an ankle monitor instead. After his arrest for setting this woman on fire, he was brought before Magistrate Judge Laura McNally, with court reporters documenting what happened. Judge McNally told Reed that "When you walked in here, I presumed you to be innocent of these charges". Reed then replied "I'm guilty" before continuing his belligerent behavior in the courtroom.New Jersey: Surveillance footage has come to light pertaining to a mass shooting that was reported in Newark two days ago. Rival gangs conducted a skirmish in the street, and due to the "spray and pray" manner of the engagement, 5x bystanders where shot as well. Two people were killed during the engagement, including a 10-year-old boy.New York: Another subway stabbing took place a few days ago, with the NYPD releasing the photo of the suspect this morning. An unidentified black male slashed a passenger with a sharp object while transiting on the E train. No other details were provided regarding the attack.Kentucky: This afternoon the NTSB released the highly-anticipated preliminary report regarding the fatal crash of UPS Flight 2976 that occurred one month ago. The photos provided in the accident report shed light on what happened; the port-side engine completely ripped away from the wing due to a failure of the pylons holding it to the aircraft. In short, the engine flew itself off the wing due to fatigue and degradation of the mechanisms attaching the engine to the wing.Analyst Comment: Now, we know why the FAA grounded all MD-11 and DC-10 aircraft in the United States immediately after the crash. In just six images, the NTSB told the whole story, strongly indicating that the crash of Flight 2976 bears striking resemblance to the deadliest aviation accident in US history...the crash of American Airlines Flight 191 which crashed in a nearly identical manner while departing Chicago back in 1979. That aircraft was a DC-10, and 273 people were killed during that incident.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: Counter illegal immigration operations continue around the country, as resistance to deportations continues to escalate. In North Carolina, the city of Charlotte has experienced a halt of nearly all construction projects due to illegal wor

Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Diplomatic correspondent Lazar Berman joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. Last week, the US officially launched negotiations within the 15-member United Nations Security Council on a draft resolution that would follow up on Israel and Hamas’s October 9 ceasefire-hostage agreement. Tomorrow, the Security Council is set to vote on the resolution, which would deliver Gaza to an International Stabilization Force (ISF) and an apolitical Palestinian administration overseen by a Trump-chaired Board of Peace. In the first half of the program, Berman gives an analysis of some of the implications for Israel -- and questions the world's appetite for seeing through in the demilitarization of Hamas. US President Donald Trump on Friday said that he was considering agreeing to a deal to supply Saudi Arabia with F-35 stealth fighter jets, which are made by Lockheed Martin. We hear whether a more robust Saudi air force could affect the Middle East and learn why the United Arab Emirates has not yet received its promised planes. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said on Friday that the Israeli army had built walls on the Lebanese side of the UN-demarcated Blue Line, the de facto border. We learn about the Blue Line and discuss whether a complaint to the UN has any teeth. Check out The Times of Israel's ongoing liveblog for more updates.
