(Record Date: 09/04/22) Wow! It has been a while... Hunter and Tyson return with an official podcast episode for the first time in over two years. Sorry about that, honestly. Life keeps happening, but it is better than the alternative. The good news is, there are MORE episodes in the archive, including at least 3 recorded in 2025 that are ON THE WAY and will be released on YouTube AND in Audio-Only format at roughly the same time going forward. Thank you for listening and following our podcasting journey that has now spanned nearly a decade. A few of the years along the way have been harrowing. Perhaps we will share why one day. Make sure to visit Tyson's YouTube page for a couple of extra, live episodes of "Anti Social Show" that (as of now ) can not be found anywhere else! ... Also, Tyson has a LOT of content on his channel, and would REALLY like to reach 5000 subscribers. Cheers! Both Moose and Dews have a long history with Halestorm, first meeting the band over 13 years ago during a radio station acoustic session, so they are both well-qualified to talk about the band, their evolution in the music industry, and the dynamics of the rock and metal scene. As the band gear up to release their new album, Moose and Dews look ahead to Halestorm's potential for future success and their impact on fans and the industry. Also, listen out for Dews studiously failing to mention that he once unsuccessfully tried sliding into Lzzy Hale's DMs. Ahem. Andy Warhol was the first artist to achieve rock star status. He was a Beatle with a silkscreen printer. His work and play space, the Factory, attracted people of all ages; rich and poor, straight and gay, sane and…not so sane. It was in the Factory that he was shot by a would-be assassin. He was rushed to a hospital and pronounced clinically dead. But Andy Warhol's second life began the moment he was resurrected on an operating table. As soon as his heart began to beat again, he became a true cultural icon – bigger than his paintings or his Polaroids or his experimental films, bigger than life itself. Andy Warhol became the future. To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. The Jay Franze Show: Your backstage pass to the entertainment industry
Send us a textWhat makes a two-person band sound like a full ensemble? We dive deep into the world of Sirsy, a remarkable musical duo where the vocalist plays drums standing while singing, and the bassist creates rhythm with foot pedals. Tiffany shares her experience seeing them live in Daytona Beach during Bike Week, while Jay reveals his personal connection to the band from their early days.Music history takes center stage as Jay recounts a fascinating story of uncovering thousands of rare recordings stored in a Pennsylvania barn, including performances by Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and Dolly Parton. The careful process of preserving these musical artifacts offers a glimpse into the dedication required to maintain our cultural heritage. Our lively "Question of the Day" sparks nostalgia as we explore which departed musicians we'd bring back for one more performance. From the pure voice of Karen Carpenter to the raw energy of Janis Joplin, we celebrate artists who left us too soon but whose music continues to resonate. We break down entertainment headlines, including Randy Travis's upcoming biopic, Carrie Underwood's American Idol judging debut, and the Grand Ole Opry's centennial celebration. In Germany some 300 villages have been destroyed since the Second World War because of the coal that lay beneath them. Villagers have grown up in the knowledge that one day their house will be torn down and generally they've accepted the deal on offer: the mine buys their house and they build a new one in a brand-new village. But the demands of climate change and the need to curb CO2 emissions has changed attitudes to fossil fuels. In one region west of Cologne all mining activity will cease by 2030, 15 years earlier than planned. Which means that villages designated for demolition are now going to survive. That news isn't always welcome. Tim Mansel has visited one of them.

A month ago, the federal Liberals were in the basement of Canadian politics, trailing the Conservatives by close to 30% in public opinion polls. But a month is a long time in politics, and the fortunes for the Liberal party have seen a stunning reversal in a short amount of time. Host Cormac Mac Sweeney speaks with Mount Royal University Political Scientist Duane Bratt, about how the Trump effect is having an impact on Canadian politics, how the Conservatives are pivoting to try and maintain their lead, and what this may mean for the timing of the next federal election. Partly because of the courts and partly because the White House keeps stepping on rakes or trying to break everything, the Dems who were too chill about Trump pre- and post-election have fully moved into 'threat to the Republic' mode. Meanwhile, angry bureaucrats, particularly at the FBI, are digging in. But don't be sanguine because the administration is still trying to take a wrecking ball to the civil service— anything that goes wrong that involves the government though (like that measles outbreak in Texas) they're going to own from here on out. We've got a lot to catch up on, so let's get started. The Avalanche completed a 4-0 comeback against the Buffalo Sabres, which began with Georgiev giving up 4 goals on 8 shots again. However newly acquired backup Scott Wedgewood came into relief and galvanized the Avs to victory, washing out the taste of two disappointing performances againt Dallas and Edmonton. It's at a critical point with Georgiev, and after moving Justus Annunen for Wedgewood, the same might need to be done with Georgiev now. Dawn continues the Dawn Stensland Show by telling of an amazingly inspirational story. Dawn welcomes Delimar Vera, a Philadelphia woman who was kidnapped during a fire at her family home when she was only 10 days old. Vera tells that her mother, refusing to accept that her daughter had died, saw her one day at a birthday party and knew at that moment her daughter was alive. Vera takes listeners through the story that includes her mother having a strand of her hair DNA tested, to her kidnapper being jailed and later released, and tells of the ongoing impact that the entire situation has on her family.
It's impossible to kill a restaurant chain, even when it's dead. This week's episode of A Deeper Dive features a discussion on a fascinating phenomenon in the restaurant world lately: Operators bringing formerly dead or dying brands back to life. RB colleagues Lisa Jennings and Joe Guszkowski join me to talk about three such concepts: Steak & Ale, Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes and Ground Round. Steak & Ale, a Norman Brinker-created brand that was a casual-dining pioneer, recently opened a location in suburban Minneapolis, 15 years after the entire chain was shut down. Sweet Tomatoes, a buffet concept that was killed in a 2020, pandemic-related shutdown, recently opened a location in Arizona. And Ground Round—which still has a couple of locations open in the west—is planning a new location in Massachusetts. Why are these brands coming back? And most importantly, can these chains survive off nostalgia alone? We're about to find out. We're chatting about resurrected restaurant brands this week so check it out.

On today's podcast episode, we discuss a special edition of the unofficial list of the retailers who have made a comeback (from the dead). This month, our analysts Arielle Feger, Becky Schilling, and Sara Lebow (aka The Committee) put together a very unofficial list of the top eight retailers who have most impressively come back from the brink, and how they did it. In this month's episode, Committee members Senior Analyst Sara Lebow and Senior Director of Content Becky Schilling will defend their list against Senior Analyst Sky Canaves and Principal Analyst Sarah Marzano, who will dispute the power rankings by attempting to move retailers up, down, on, or off the list.
