I had the great opportunity to have a chat with Paul Eckheart. I met him though Toastmasters where he gave a speech about his Nemesis. I loved his story, it gave a perspective that a lot of us find ourselves in, So I had to have him on the podcast. He has had good programming jobs but it is not his passion, it is a way to pay the bills. He has now decided to follow through with chasing his dream of being a writer. How many of us find ourselves just working to pay the bills and letting our passion just fall by the way side and get put on the back burner. Paul shared some insights on feelings that I have had before and I am sure some of you have had too. I sat down again with Kelly Kay Walker and we talked about how she had pivoted but not because of Covid but because she thought she could help people do what she has done when it comes to speaking and getting their message out there. What she has done in such a short period of time is quite amazing. Dr Mitchell and his partner at Voyage Direct Primary Care are bringing back the Family Doctor. The family doctor that I remember as a kid, we knew him and he knew us. As a kid growing up our doctor was Dr. Baxter. He could be reach almost anytime when he was needed. Have a listen and see what you think of this model. His story is quite remarkable, he was in a very bad place, on the verge of suicide and was able to rise up and now has a great life with a great family and has made a career out of helping people that are in the bad place that he was in. Jan Paxman turned her side hustle into her main hustle and then started another side hustle. She is a great example of what can happen with if you just put yourself out there and take action. Her first side hustle was health coaching. Out of necessity she turned that into her main hustle. She helps people lose weight, get the blood sugar under control and get all around Healthy. But why stop there? lets start another side hustle. Enter Latter Day Armor! She had a thought one day as she was putting a cartoon band aid on person, "What if we had Gospel band aids that depicted Gospel stories and that would create Gospel conversations with your kids. She took that idea and ran with it. Jan shares her up and down experiences from these two ventures. Emily is a grinder and she is just starting on her entrepreneurial journey and had great advice for others who are just starting or those who might be stuck. Alicia was so experienced and knowledgeable. She started things right off the with some great advice about not getting so busy in your business that you forget to work on your business.In the middle she shared how she was able to grow her business and increase Shearology's offering.We talked about what she experienced dealing with Covid and the shut and how she handled it. It is crazy that she was subject so social bullying but as she put it, you can't please everybody. She set her goals and went from working for someone else to being her own boss and then the Rona hit. She was able to pivot and ad options to her offering and was able to make it through! Spencer Barber is an animator but he also side hustles. He does graphic design, helps people with YouTube SEO and has been an extra in several movies. You have probably heard people say that the American Dream is dead or that the opportunity is no longer there. I beg to differ, I say stop doing stuff that you don't want to do. Spencer is the perfect example of doing what it is that he wants to do. He has been thinking about this from a very young age. Had a great interview with Josh Ripley of JERiCo Metal works. I love interviewing people that are in different genres than I have interviewed before and Josh fits that to a T. We talked metal work, but more than that we talked mindset, marketing, finding your and marketing to your ideal clients. There are a few things that really stuck out, I love that Josh took advantage of being laid off from the Covid situation to start his own business. It also started because he need to build furniture for himself. He is monetizing what he needed to do. Love it! I have been wanting to get a FOREX Trader on the show for a long time and it finally happened. I was not disappointed with my interview with Kyrsti Snyder. She learned branding for herself, when this spring came and she found herself with a lot less photography appointment, she monetized it. Love this interview with Steve Weber. He monetized his looks. He looks like Tom Hanks and he was the spokesperson for Bubba Gump Shrimp for 15 years. Now he has a daily YouTube show called American Gumption Morning Show. I met Steve at the NSA Mountain West Chapter where he always showed up dressed as Forrest Gump. His was very entertaining but more than that he was and still is a servant leader always highlighting and bringing out the best in people.Steve shares how he went from just talking about monetizing the fact that he looks like Tom Hanks to actually doing something about it. It was great to catch up with her, back in 1994, together we took the first commercial bungee jump to Japan and then in 1995 they took 14 more over there of which I played a part in 5 of them.
