Most Things Kenobi is a podcast and blog hosted by two grown-ass-women who love Star Wars, the Clone Wars, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Every week we'll have a lively chat on topics ranging from Star Wars philosophy and theory, character development, fan fic writi
The Most Things Kenobi - A Star Wars Podcast is a hidden gem that I stumbled upon after seeing it mentioned in a pin group. From the moment I started listening, it quickly became one of my top three podcasts that I religiously tune into. The hosts, Lauren and LeAnn(e?), have an infectious love for the Star Wars franchise, which shines through in every episode. This podcast cleverly combines intelligent discussions about Star Wars with humor and heartwarming anecdotes.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the hosts' ability to talk about Star Wars in a way that is both insightful and entertaining. They discuss various topics relating to the franchise, from analyzing characters to exploring different hypothetical scenarios. The hosts' deep dive into Star Wars lore is impressive, and they always manage to bring fresh perspectives to the table.
Another highlight is the positive and inclusive nature of this podcast. Lauren and LeAnn(e?) go out of their way to create a welcoming space for all fans, without letting toxic aspects of fandom overshadow their love for Star Wars. They embrace diverse opinions and encourage listeners to share their thoughts while maintaining a respectful atmosphere. Additionally, their genuine enthusiasm for the franchise is contagious and brings joy to every episode.
As for any potential downsides, it may take some time to get used to the rhythm of the hosts if you're new to the podcast. However, once you become accustomed to their style, you'll appreciate their unique dynamic as "Space Twins." Moreover, while they strive not to include too many spoilers in episodes discussing books or comics, some listeners may prefer more explicit warnings before diving into spoiler territory.
In conclusion, The Most Things Kenobi - A Star Wars Podcast is an absolute delight for any fan of the franchise. Lauren and LeAnn(e?) pour so much love and care into each episode, making it feel like a true conversation among friends. Their intelligent discussions combined with humor create an enjoyable listening experience, and their interaction with listeners on social media and Patreon is commendable. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who wants to have fun while delving deep into the Star Wars universe. May The Force Be With You!
We have finally arrived! We deep dive into the final 3 episodes of Andor, raving about the parts we loved and being candidly honest about the parts that were disappointing. (SPOILERS!!!) This week's set of three episodes were extremely heavy, beautiful, tragic, and so well done, we were once again left in awe of this series. That being said, we do have some questions regarding a few of the writing choices that were made, despite how well delivered it was. You'll hear throughout this recap just how much emotion we felt as these episodes really drove home the harsh reality of the Empire's brutality, delivered it through beautiful filming, and wrapped it all up with one of the show's most poignantly written speeches (a perfect compliment to Luthen's speech in Season 1) which left us in tears. There's a LOT to take in, and a lot to process, and even though we question some of the incongruent moments, we both agree this show has delivered some of the best Star Wars moments on television to date. What awaits us with the final three episodes next week? How will they wrap this up and deliver us directly into "Rogue One"? Meet us back here and we'll experience it together. Episodes 4-6 in Andor season 2 were very, very pretty
(Spoilers in this episode!) The masterpiece is back! Season 2 of "Andor" premiered with three big episodes, setting up the rest of the series and eventually leading us directly into the greatness that is "Rogue One." And WHAT a beginning this was! Our excitement is palpable throughout this episode as we deep dive into the nuances that make this show so. damn. AMAZING. In fact, we dive so deeply, we managed over 1.5 HOURS for this installment of MTK alone. Strap in, folks - "Andor" is back, WE are back to weekly recaps (through the end of the series), and we're going all in with every installment of this show until it finishes. Enjoy the extra long episode, because there's more to come!
"You're a bold one!" An episode all about our beloved General Grievous!! We just couldn't resist talking about the cranky, snarky Separatist leader. Obi-Wan Kenobi is known across the galaxy by many titles, but none more renowned or unique as "The Negotiator". The way he was able to first observe and think through a situation and then manage that situation with his word was a characteristic he undoubtedly excelled at. We dive into examples from across Star Wars media that contributed to him earning this title, but we also ask the question: were times where his skill for negotiating and being diplomatic was *not* successful? Join us as we observe the observer, and negotiate our own way through our opinions on Obi-Wan's well-earned title. The ships of Star Wars could easily be some of the most famous icons in the franchise. The first scene ever in "A New Hope" is the Star Destroyer. Then there are the other iconic ships we know and love: the X-Wing, the TIE Fighter, the various Star Fighters, the Millennium Falcon, the Ghost...do we even need to continue? The SHIPS are the stars of Star Wars, and this week we honor just a few of the hundreds that have made their place in our hearts. We plan to do more of these types of episodes in the future, so be sure to answer our question towards the end of the episode! The New Hollywood era (also known as Hollywood Renaissance, American New Wave, or New American Cinema) was a period in film history from the mid 1960s to the early 1980s . Famous directors like Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg, and George Lucas were founding fathers of the movement, changing the face of cinema forever. Star Wars came out in 1977, and in this episode we discuss how the epic space opera full of lightsabers and magic (aka the Force) did and didn't fit into this gritty era in cinema history. With the final two episodes of "Skeleton Crew" airing and marking the end of the latest Star Wars television series, we give our final review of "Skeleton Crew" episodes 7 and 8. We were both pleasantly surprised but left wondering (and wanting more) by the time the final episode finished. We give our thoughts, discuss our theories, and ask several questions - many of which the show never answered. We want more! Also, BONUS SECTION: We asked and you answered! What is Obi-Wan's favorite pie? James Arnold Taylor weighs in, as do dozens of our listeners, in a fun and extended portion near the end of this episode.
Continuing forward with the adventure that has become "Skeleton Crew", we review the VERY enjoyable episodes 5 and 6, which were our favorite episodes to date. Yes, even LeeAnn loved them! We get a lot of deeper moments and depth of characters with these, and we spend time relishing in the story building that is taking place in these episodes. With only two episodes left in the season, we're curious to see who Jod REALLY is (we discuss some of our favorite theories), and where the crew of kids will go from here. The original concepts and themes for the "Kenobi" tv series came from writer Stuart Beattie, who actually had written the script for a three part movie series. In his original scripts, there are many similar characters to the ones we know from the tv series, however there are some that never made it to the screen (ahem, Cody!!). Were these wise choices? Would "what might have been" been better? We discuss all this and more in this week's episode. What a great way to ring in our 150th episode! We have the pleasure of discussing the talented Matt Lanter and what he has brought to Star Wars' most pivotal character, Anakin Skywalker. He is the voice of Anakin throughout The Clone Wars and beyond, including Lego movies and an abundance of Star Wars video games, and much more. The first time we ever saw Anakin Skywalker in live action, outside of Darth Vader, was through Jake Lloyd's portrayal of Anakin as a young boy in "The Phantom Menace", which was released in 1999. This young boy, who will go on to become The Chosen One, was delivered by a bright and charismatic Jake Lloyd, who was only 8 years old when George Lucas cast him as the young Anakin. IMPORTANT NOTE: in this episode, we respectfully discuss Jake Lloyd's mental health journey, while also discussing how important mental health is in everyone's life. Please understand that we are not mental health experts, though we do want to emphasize the importance of mental health. We commend Jake for getting help to address his mental health, and wish him nothing but the best going forward. "Huttslayer", a relatively new but cannon title for Leia Organa Skywalker, is a title that isn't always discussed - but should be! By writing it into the novel "Bloodline", Claudia Gray effectively gave Leia a title filled with honor and respect. When Leia killed Jabba the Hutt, she not only liberated herself, but also avenged her biological father by killing his slaver. In doing so, she also liberated thousands more, even her own brother, by taking the chain Jabba used on her and killing him with her bare hands. We're not here to trash talk him, obviously, but what if we considered some of his actions from a different angle: DID Obi-Wan make any real "mistakes" that contributed to how everything turned out in the Galaxy? Or was it all just fate; part of the "grand plan" that needed to happen for events in the Original Trilogy (and beyond) to occur?
