Hey Scummers! This week on the Underhive Lorekeepers Podcast, Spamuel forces Nathan to endure more than ninety minutes of something he never asked for, never wanted and will likely spend the rest of the year complaining about. The Vespid. That's right, we're talking about the Tau Empire's favourite winged allies, the Stingwings themselves. Hailing from the crystal-covered world of Vespid, these insectoid xenos have buzzed their way across battlefields for centuries, carrying neutron blasters, mysterious communication helms, and enough unanswered questions to make an Inquisitor nervous.Join us as we dive into the origins of the Vespid, their hive-based society, their first contact with the Tau Empire, and the ongoing debate surrounding those suspicious Communion Helms. Are the Vespid loyal allies fighting for the Greater Good, or are they simply the galaxy's most heavily armed bee colony?Nathan certainly has some opinions, most of those opinions can be summarised as "burn them". Several bee puns are made. None of them improve Nathan's mood. The discussion only stings further when we explore how the Tau managed to recruit the Vespid into the Empire. Nathan remains unconvinced that giant alien insects wearing strange helmets isn't suspicious. Will Spamuel convince him that the Vespid are actually cool?Hive got some bad news for you.The answer is no.So grab your flamer, don your beekeeper suit, and bee prepared for an episode packed with obscure xenos lore, Tau shenanigans, questionable diplomacy, and one man's relentless descent into xenophobic grumbling.Because if there's one thing this episode proves, it's that Nathan's hatred of xenos wasn't nearly strong enough before he learned about giant space bees.Buzz on over and join us, Scummers. Maul steps in to protect his would-be apprentice, setting up a thrilling lightsaber showdown — and Devon is starting to come around to Maul's way of thinking. Alliances are shifting like sand by the midpoint of Maul – Shadow Lord. Who will end up on top?In this week's episode, we recap "Inquisition" and “Night of the Hunted” (Season 1, Chapters 5–6). These episodes mark the first time—in chronological order—that we see an Inquisitor onscreen, and we talk through the formation of these Jedi hunters. We also play a little game of alliances, doing a deep dive into where every main character stands with the next. As Devon and Maul are drawn closer together, she and her Master are being driven apart. But there's also a growing strength between Master Daki and Captain Lawson, both of whom reveal hidden depths.Timestamps:00:00:00 Who Are We?00:02:08 Plot Summary00:10:02 The Beginning of the Inquisitors00:21:47 Shifting Alliances00:28:03 Survivor: Maul Edition00:53:44 Bae Watch01:01:04 Closing ThoughtsWant more Growing Up Skywalker? SUMMARYJacob and Evan break down the explosive finale of Maul: Shadow Lord, focusing on Darth Vader's terrifying arrival, Maul's long-term manipulation strategy, and Devon's emotional turn toward the dark side. Rather than centering purely on lightsaber action, the discussion dives into the psychology behind fear, revenge, grief, and corruption. The episode explores how Maul ultimately succeeds without truly defeating Vader, using Daki's death and Devon's pain to gain influence and control. The hosts also compare this portrayal of Vader to other Star Wars appearances, arguing this may be one of the strongest depictions of him outside the original trilogy. The conversation expands into Star Wars storytelling as a whole, discussing where the series ranks among Clone Wars, Rebels, Andor, and Revenge of the Sith, while also examining how music, visuals, and pacing elevated the finale into one of the most emotionally intense Star Wars stories in years.KEYWORDSDarth Vader Maul finaleMaul Shadow Lord breakdownDevon dark side theoryStar Wars finale analysisDarth Vader horror scenesCrimson Dawn explainedMaul vs Vader discussionStar Wars psychologyRevenge of the Sith comparisonsClone Wars vs Maul Shadow LordStar Wars character manipulationDevon Darth Talon theoryTIMESTAMPS00:00:01 - Why this finale made Darth Vader feel unstoppable00:00:42 - Jacob and Evan react to Episodes 9 and 1000:02:05 - Full recap of the finale and Maul's manipulation plan00:03:25 - Comedy ad break and “Dead Dads Club” joke00:04:47 - Initial reactions and favorite moments from the finale00:05:23 - Maul's manipulation of Daki and Devon explained00:06:50 - Icarus' sacrifice and the best action scenes00:09:07 - The incredible Inquisitor entrance sequence00:10:48 - Best visual shots and cinematic moments in the finale00:12:02 - Horror-style Vader entrance and Mandalorian deaths00:13:22 - Ranking Maul: Shadow Lord against other Star Wars stories00:20:13 - Maul manipulating Devon through dreams and the Force00:22:06 - Devon potentially becoming Darth Talon theory00:23:12 - Will Devon return to the light side?00:26:04 - Why Daki's death shocked the hosts00:30:21 - How knowing Star Wars canon affects tension in prequels00:33:32 - Lawson survival theory and Devon's future00:38:21 - Starkiller and Force Unleashed references explained00:40:15 - Musical callbacks to Revenge of the Sith and Duel of the Fates00:42:42 - Why Vader's appearance exceeded expectations00:44:46 - The psychology of why Vader feels terrifying00:49:01 - Fallen Order comparisons and “run away from Vader” energy00:51:00 - Best portrayal of Vader outside the original trilogy00:57:37 - Vader's theatrical intimidation tactics analyzed01:02:15 - Predictions for Crimson Dawn and Season 201:04:46 - Was Daki right to reject the dark side?

Skywalking Through Neverland: A Star Wars / Disney Fan Podcast
What's the real story behind Marrok from Ahsoka and Maul: Shadow Lord? Actor and stunt performer Paul Darnell joins Richard and Sarah for a behind-the-scenes look at bringing the mysterious Inquisitor to life. A master of storytelling through movement, Paul shares fascinating insights into performing as Marrok — including the surprising detail that Marrok's mask had a removable face-plate so he could better see while filming. Paul also talks about other key scenes in Ahsoka, like portraying the Night Troopers falling down stairs for multiple takes as they battled Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka and Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati. The conversation dives into Marrok's possible backstory, Nightsister magick, fan theories, and whether the masked assassin could still return after dissolving into green mist. Paul's career stretches far beyond Star Wars. He's an accomplished parkour expert and stunt performer who has doubled for major Hollywood stars, including Henry Cavill as Superman and Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen in Twilight. Pattinson even publicly thanked Paul during the 2009 MTV Movie Awards for his stunt work on the film. And if you want to meet Paul Darnell in person, fans will have the chance this August at the Boonta Eve Special Edition in Frisco, Texas on Friday, August 7. There's two of them now?! With the arrival of another Inquisitor things really start to escalate on Janyx. We see Maul at his lowest since probably his spider-leg days (he goes on a self-guided therapy session/vision quest that results in something quite inspiring actually!), providing us a deeper understanding of his motivations, beyond simply "revenge!". Meanwhile, Devon continues to be the most interesting character on the show as she takes two steps forward, one step back, flirting with the dark side (though bonus points for the slick ride she acquires for their getaway). On the action side, the show continues to bring the goods, with dynamic, large scale battles (heavy on LAATs which is always a treat), intimate lightsaber combat, and a special shout out to the speeder chase this week that included a new Star Wars techno track (get outta here Niamos!), which combined for a chef's kiss of a sequence. The finale is next week, dropping on Star Wars Day (May the 4th), so stay tuned to see how much the show wants to tie up and how much it wants to leave dangling ahead of season 2!

SUMMARYJacob and Evan break down Episodes 7 and 8 of Maul: Shadow Lord, diving deep into the psychological unraveling of Darth Maul as he's hunted, injured, and forced to confront his past. These episodes shift the focus from pure action to something far more introspective—exploring trauma, identity, and what remains of a character driven almost entirely by revenge. The discussion highlights how Maul's visions and memories reshape how we understand his motivations, especially his relationship with Sidious and his brother Savage. The hosts debate whether Maul's apparent shift—from personal revenge to preventing future suffering—adds depth or conflicts with his established character. They also analyze standout moments like the intense Inquisitor battle, the visual storytelling, and the growing instability of Maul's alliances. The episode closes with predictions about where Maul's journey is heading—questioning whether this is the rise of a more dangerous version of Maul or the continuation of his tragic downward spiral.KEYWORDSDarth Maul psychologyMaul Shadow Lord episode 7 8 breakdownStar Wars character analysis MaulSith trauma and revengeMaul vs Inquisitors fight analysisStar Wars canon vs legends discussionMaul character developmentStar Wars storytelling breakdownSith mental health themesMaul Savage Opress relationshipStar Wars podcast discussionMaul future predictionsTIMESTAMPS00:00:00 - Intro: What happens when Maul is broken?00:00:26 - Podcast intro and episode overview00:00:56 - Episode summary: Maul hunted and shattered00:02:27 - Deep dive into Maul's trauma and past00:04:46 - Bridge battle and Inquisitor fight highlights00:06:12 - Discussing lack of low points in the episode00:08:05 - Debate: Is Maul's motivation changing?00:12:05 - Trauma, Savage, and Maul's mindset00:15:01 - Canon vs Legends discussion00:22:21 - Does the backstory improve Maul?00:29:02 - Mandalorian betrayal and loyalty discussion00:43:00 - Finale predictions and Crimson Dawn setup

Greg Alba & Michael Tessler react to Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord Episodes 5 & 6, “Inquisition” and “Night of the Hunted”! These chapters raise the stakes big time as Darth Maul, Devon Izara, Eeko-Dio Daki, Marrok, Brander Lawson, and Rylee all get pulled deeper into the Empire's hunt on Janix. Between the Inquisitor pressure, Maul's growing connection to Devon, the Imperial takeover, and the big train showdown, these episodes really push the series into darker Clone Wars / Rebels territory while also tying into the larger Star Wars era between Revenge of the Sith, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and eventually Star Wars Rebels. If you've been following Maul through The Phantom Menace, The Clone Wars, Solo, and Rebels, this series feels like a major next chapter in his story. And with everything Lucasfilm has coming up like The Mandalorian & Grogu, there's a lot to talk about in the Star Wars universe right now. John and Jim tackle the second story of Trial of a Time Lord - a divisive entry that Jim describes as "fair to middling" until a jaw-dropping finale that left him questioning everything. Production Challenges: John provides extensive background on Philip Martin's return after "Vengeance on Varos," Ron Jones directing his final Doctor Who story, and Eric Saward's resignation as story editor during production. Discussion covers Robert Holmes' passing during rehearsals and the courtroom set drama continuing with union issues. The Return of Sil: Jim does NOT hold back on his feelings about Sil's return to Doctor Who. The hosts debate whether bringing back the green marshmallow-eating Mentor serves any real purpose beyond annoying viewers. Discussion includes comparisons to Star Trek's Ferengi and whether Kiv (played by Christopher Ryan) proves more interesting than his obnoxious predecessor. Brian Blessed Arrives: The hosts examine Brian Blessed's appearance as King Yrcanos - a performance John considers a saving grace while Jim finds increasingly one-note. Behind-the-scenes stories include Blessed's F-bomb outtake, JNT's gentle handling of the larger-than-life actor, and revelations about Blessed nearly becoming the Second Doctor at age 25. Cultural Appropriation Concerns: Jim and John discuss troubling 1986 production choices: Kabuki-style makeup and samurai aesthetics for Yrcanos, servants and slaves portrayed by minority actors, Native American-styled costumes, and the questionable treatment of Dorf (transformed into a dog). The hosts question why these decisions felt appropriate in the mid-1980s. Colin Baker's Motivation Mystery: Extensive discussion of Colin Baker's struggle with unclear direction - was the Doctor acting under mind control, being crafty for observers, or was the Matrix testimony itself tampered with? Nobody could give him answers, leading to confusion that permeates the performance. The Claustrophobic Complex: Jim criticizes the confined, repetitive sets of Thoros Beta, noting the same corridor and computer banks appearing from different angles. Discussion covers the limited scope compared to "The Mysterious Planet" and whether the laboratory scenes provide the only visual relief. That Ending: The hosts unpack the shocking finale where Peri's brain is replaced by Kiv's, Yrcanos bursts in and shoots everyone, and the Doctor is pulled backward into the TARDIS by Time Lord intervention. John admits this originally made him consider quitting the show, while both hosts question whether companions deserved such ignoble exits. Time Lord Treachery: Discussion of the High Council ordering Peri's death, the Inquisitor's sudden inside knowledge, and why this story made John truly understand why the Doctor ran away from Gallifrey. The Doctor's proclamation about "second-rate gods" resonates as one of Colin Baker's finest courtroom moments. The Muddled Middle: Both hosts struggle with unclear storytelling - repetitive running through corridors, vague motivations, forgotten plot threads about weapons trafficking, and whether anything meaningful happens between the shocking beginning and devastating end. Listener Perspectives: Jameson weighs in on theme preferences, Inquisitor Darkel's ruthless portrayal in Gallifrey audios, and teases Jim's eventual reaction to trial revelations. Jamie Girl appreciates the pink/purple planet effects and Brian Blessed's Viking philosophy while sharing YouTube finds of cast reunions. Coming Up Next: Patreon Exclusive (Monday): More Dominic Glynn theme music, the three-part comic "Nature of the Beast," a look back at the first five Doctors with another Memory TARDIS spin. Main Feed Episode (Friday for Patreon, Following Saturday for All): Parts 9-12 of Trial of a Time Lord - "Terror of the Vervoids." Mel arrives, and John cryptically warns the creatures' name isn't the only unfortunate thing about them. What was the relationship between the Inquisition, the Clavicula Salomonis, booksellers, and magical texts in early modern Venice? AHOY SCUMMERS!After what can only be described as a brief, administratively necessary (definitely not heretical) absence, The Underhive Lorekeepers Podcast staggers back into the vox-net like an Inquisitor returning from a very quiet, very classified investigation.Yes, we're back. And to celebrate our triumphant return to the airwaves (and to prove we haven't been replaced by suspiciously similar servo-skulls), we're hosting our Listener Lore Competition: Minor Ordos Edition.Because nothing says “welcome back” quite like weaponised bureaucracy.Everyone knows the big three of the Inquisition, but we're not here for the celebrity Ordos. We want the obscure ones. The underfunded ones. The ones operating out of a damp archive sub-level with a staff of three, a skull with anxiety, and a mandate so hyper-specific it borders on parody. This episode is all about your creations — the Minor Ordos that REDACTED. The Ordo that investigates bugs in a sitcom. The Ordo dedicated to beverages. The Ordo that insists that, technically, you do not exist. The Ordo loving Roots, bloody roots. The Ordo breaking our souls and robots. And because the Inquisition is nothing if not deeply uncomfortable around itself, we'll be imagining what happens when all these Minor Ordos are forced to attend the strangest company mixer in the galaxy. Picture it: name tags in High Gothic, awkward small talk about sanctioned purges, someone from a rival Ordo quietly taking notes in the corner, and at least one Puritan loudly insisting this entire gathering is Gregory. There will be dramatic readings. There will be questionable accents. There will be entirely too much enthusiasm about Wingdings. Most importantly, there will be your lore. It is canon-adjacent, wildly unnecessary, and absolutely essential. We may have been gone for a while… but like any good Inquisitorial investigation, we were merely gathering evidence. The Emperor Protects. HR absolutely does not.Want to support the show? https://linktr.ee/underhivelorekeepersEnd music theme is Celltrance by Lobo Loco.https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Lobo_Loco/free-for-you-cc-by/celltrance-id-2346/
Joining host Michael Azevedo on this episode is Angela Lynn Tucker, the director of an inspiring and informative new documentary called "The Inquisitor," which tells the story of the life and career of Barbara Jordan. As a young girl growing up in Houston's Fifth Ward, Barbara Jordan was taught to defy expectations. She understood that to succeed, she would need to forge her own path. With relentless determination and unyielding tenacity, Barbara Jordan made history as Texas's first Black state senator and in 1972 the first Southern Black woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. At a time when the idea of a Black woman holding power seemed inconceivable, Barbara Jordan created a roadmap for change. "The Inquisitor" chronicles the life of Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, whose electrifying voice and moral clarity during President Richard Nixon's impeachment captivated the nation. Earning her the moniker “The Inquisitor.” The film will premiere on 2/23 on PBS as part of the Independent Lens series. On Friday's show: Texas is suing Dow Chemical Co., citing hundreds of water pollution violations at the company's facility in Seadrift along the coast south of Victoria. Dylan Baddour of Inside Climate News explains the lawsuit and how it could actually end up shielding Dow from tougher penalties. Also this hour: The nonprofit Sierra Club recently released its legislative scorecard for last year, measuring how well or how poorly state lawmakers supported various environmental needs, at least according to the organization's own measurements. We discuss the ratings and whether such assessments ever move the needle on the state's environmental concerns. Then, we break down The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of the week. And a new documentary called The Inquisitor explores the life and career of the late Texas Congresswoman Barbara Jordan. The film airs Feb. 23 at 9 p.m. on Houston Public Media, TV 8. In conjunction, we reflect on Jordan's contributions to the political landscape.Watch

Hold onto your lekku, because this week we're abandoning ship and diving straight into the Dark Side. First up, we're dissecting the brand-new trailer for Maul: Shadow Lord. Is Disney finally growing a pair and giving us a true villain protagonist, or are they just going to "Cruella-fy" our favorite horn-headed Sith? We're breaking down Maul's mysterious new "Acolyte" (could it be a canonized Darth Talon?), the "Inquisitor-lite" vibes of the new visual style, and why this show might finally bridge the 10-year gap between the Clone Wars fallout and his "ruler of the underworld" era in Solo. Then, the main event: Bogan's Advocate returns. We're putting Attack of the Clones on trial. Is it a misunderstood masterpiece of political intrigue, or just two hours of CGI sand and awkward flirting? Our guests Blake and Dan join the fray to defend the indefensible and debate whether Maul and Ahsoka could have actually saved the galaxy if they'd just stopped arguing about Anakin for five minutes. JC: I went into reading this chapter thinking when I read it before, this seemed so incredibly super dark and hard to imagine. It did not feel that way this time; it was even funny to me in ways that it would not have been funny before. I'm starting to wonder if the rest of this book is going to feel that way to me. I remember this book being so dark, and now I'm like, 'It doesn't feel quite as dark.' In this episode of The Inquisitor, host Marcus Cauchi sits down with Scott Aaron, co-founder of The Time to Grow, to explore the power of authenticity in marketing and sales. Scott helps coaches, consultants, and service professionals scale their businesses by prioritizing connection over competition, and this conversation is packed with actionable strategies for growing your presence on LinkedIn while staying human-first. From leveraging AI ethically to optimizing your LinkedIn profile for inbound leads, this episode offers practical insights you can implement immediately. Key Takeaways 1. AI as a Tool, Not a Replacement AI is in its early stages and should be used as a tool to enhance, not replace, human work. Scott and his team use personalized GPTs to help members craft high-engagement LinkedIn content. Avoid “scaling idiocy at volume”: always use AI with a human-centric approach. 2. The Warm Touchpoint Messaging Strategy Dedicate 20–30 minutes daily to active networking on LinkedIn. Automation tools violate LinkedIn's rules—all messages should be sent manually. Use the Warm Touchpoint Checklist to identify opportunities: Accept connection requests Engage with posts and content Comment or vote in polls Subscribe to newsletters Craft your first message: One warm, friendly paragraph Include a relatable connection point Use the word “support” to build rapport Avoid pitching or hard-selling Test your CTAs: Compare direct questions (e.g., “Do you have time for a Zoom this week?”) versus open-ended statements for one month to see what drives more booked calls. 3. High-Impact Content Strategy LinkedIn content increasingly acts as a lead generator. Combine Thought Leadership (expert positioning) with Storytelling (relatability). Keep content simple and digestible, avoiding technical overload. Prioritize practice over perfection and give tangible tips for free to build trust and credibility. 4. Content Types & Scheduling Content Type Frequency Key Tips LinkedIn Newsletter Weekly (Fridays) Best for building subscribers and external traffic. Requires 150+ connections. LinkedIn Live (Video) Twice a week (Mon & Thu, 10 a.m. ET) Build trust over time. Include a CTA to convert viewers into subscribers. Carousel Posts (PDF) Every other week (Saturdays) Use PDF format to allow scrolling. Share quick, actionable tips. Articles Only if under 150 connections Resharing Occasionally Always add your perspective to highlight expertise. 5. Profile Optimization About Section (Summary) 300–500 words, written in first person Share your personal story, what you do, who you serve, and how you serve them Include 15–20 skill keywords for SEO End with a clear CTA Experience Section List at least three roles, with your most relevant first Include short 2–4 sentence descriptions Use title formatting with totem poles to highlight expertise Example: Co-founder of The Time to Grow | Marketing | Sales | Branding Whether you're looking to grow your LinkedIn presence, craft content that converts, or use AI ethically in your business, this episode gives you the tools to start today.
