Before we complete our journey out of the Clone Wars and into Rebels, we have a few final stops to make. [SPOILERS] Crosshair wakes up in his cell on what looks like Coruscant, as Rampart gives him a new mission. To go to Desix and free the governor being held captive. Rampart removes Crosshair of his commander title, and says he's not fit to lead any squad. But rather he has a new commander, who of course is Commander Cody. Now Commander Cody was Obi-Wan Kenobi's right hand man in the clone wars as far as clones on the battlefield go. He was leader of the 212th battalion and led the onslaught against General Grievous on Utapau. He was the first one to execute order 66 on obi-wan Kenobi, betraying him. When season 6 was cancelled half way through, some great people at Lucasfilm got together and decided on a few ways to give us those next few episodes regardless. This last project to continue the show was called The Clone Wars Legacy, (and yes it's still canon and not to be confused with the "legends" banner). Three arcs were adapted into material we could still consume, the first of these three arcs; referred to as the "Crystal Crisis on Utapau" arc was released as raw unfinished proxy animation. Prior to final animation every episode looked like these. All the audio is there, and some of the music. But in reality, the story gets across despite the rough looking product. These episodes have recently been hard to find, they were... and currently they are no longer on starwars.com to view. But they can be found via YouTube and the Season 6 "lost missions" Clone Wars blu ray bonus features. Ahsoka confronts Maul again, and he reveals that he engineered this conflict to lure Anakin there to kill him because Sidious intends to make him his pupil. Ahsoka and Maul duel above the city and Ahsoka saves Maul from falling to his death; he is then captured by the clone troopers, despite his frantic warnings that everyone will soon die. On their way to Coruscant, however, Ahsoka senses Anakin's fall to the dark side, moments before Darth Sidious issues Order 66, branding all Jedi as traitors to the Republic and causing Ahsoka's clone troopers, including Rex, to turn on her. She escapes, manages to subdue Rex, and frees Maul to distract the other clones. With the help of three astromech droids, Ahsoka then discovers and removes the chip from Rex's brain, restoring his free will. Just barely clearing the doomed ship, Ahsoka and Rex escape to the moon, where they respectfully bury the clones and Ahsoka discards one of her lightsabers. Some time later, Darth Vader arrives on the moon and recovers Ahsoka's lightsaber from the wrecked cruiser.
