Northeast Christian Church
Not every decision we make in life can be boiled down to whether it is right or wrong. We need the wisdom God gives us to make the important decisions in life.
Jesus told us that we would suffer persecution for His sake. He also promised us that it would all be for His glory and that it would reveal our faith and help us to deepen our faith.
The world we live today is desperately in need of a relationship with Jesus Christ. Our job has to not first be to talk about our faith, but to live it and let people around us see Christ in us.
As Christians, we have to stay mindful of the fact that this world is not our home. God calls us to do things differently so that people will take notice and want to know more about our faith.
Because of our faith in God, we can have a different kind of faith when trials come into our lives.
If we expect to build anything of significance with our lives, ministries, word, family or anything in our lives, we have to allow God to be the master builder and we must trust his plan.
God's design for our lives includes a foundation constructed out of the unconditional covenant love that He gives us in the person of His Son, Jesus.
We talk so much about foundations when we think of what God is building in our lives, but we forget to talk about how to prepare the soil. The parable of the wise and foolish builders reminds us that the site prep is just as important as the building.
Many of us have a sense that God can do anything in our lives, we just have trouble believing that He will. Faith and some level of doubt is a tension that many of us live in. Psalm 27 is a great example of that.
God desires that we worship Him. He deserves to be worshipped by us, as the Creator, and as the Loving Father.
God speaks to us in and through His creation, but it is His Word that gives us a more clear picture of His character.
Growing deep, strong roots is a process, it doesn't happen overnight. We have to systematically feed our root system and keep it away from the things in life that threaten to break us down.
The songs we sing in worship have meaning and teach us about God and His love and mercy. Today, we explore some of the Carols of Christmas, their history, and their significance in our lives today.
Jesus came to earth to be born in a manger to give us not only the chance to be saved, but to live a life of service.
Jesus is the greatest model for us in terms of servant leadership. As we mature as Christians, we must measure ourselves by how we sacrificially love people the way God wants us to.
Today, Steve and Sharon Maus join us to talk about Western Indian Ministries as the prepare to go on the mission field.
When we measure our maturity as Christians, we also have to look at what we place our hope in.
As we grow in our faith, God expects us to live out our faith in ever increasing measures.
We must be constantly on high alert to the things the enemy will bring in to our lives to destroy us. We have to identify the weak spots and, through God's power, strengthen them.
At the center of all conflict a heart that is displeasing to God. Grace and humility offer us a clear path to resolving conflict, both with our fellow man and with God.
All of us have had times when we want to get back at someone when they have wronged us. Jesus' challenge to us is not to take revenge, but to extend mercy and grace, just as we were given.
The words we use have power. Jesus understood his power and authority, but never used words to cut or demean people.
God invites all of us, no matter our race, status, position in the community, to come to Him and have a part at the Master's Table.
We are sometimes quick to give the devil credit for things in our lives that are just a result of us not fighting against him. The devil only has power in our lives to the extent we give it to him.
Even in our times of weakness or crisis, we are called to have compassion on people. We need to find the opportunities to retreat, like Jesus did, in order to have our hearts and minds ready to love people.
Jesus shocked those in His home town temple when He read from the scroll from Isaiah and told them that "today, this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."
Joshua had to have some fear about stepping in after the death of Moses. God told him to be strong and courageous; to face the enemy and to face his detractors.
Whatever the mess we find ourselves in, one of our own making, one caused by someone else, or just one of those things that happen, Jesus can redeem us and restore us and make things better than they were before.
All of us are either in a trial, coming out of a trial, or about to go into a trial. Trials in our lives teach us perspective, if we will allow them to do the work in us that God want to do to shape us.
We don’t get to a place of trust and faith by making an intellectual decision. We get there by going there with God; by walking through the valley of the shadow of death and then giving God the honest truth of what is going on in our heart.
God wants us to share our story with people because people matter to God. Each and every one of us is important to Him.
Telling our story not only helps us convey hope to others, but it also helps us strengthen our own faith.
Since we have been given the greatest gift ever, we have a responsibility to develop relationships through which we can share the gift.
God gives us opportunities to talk to people who need to be encouraged. We have to move out of our comfort zones and be sensitive to His Spirit in order to make the most of these opportunities.
As eternal beings, we have been created as a living soul that happens to have a body that enables us to live on this earth. Today, we look at the value that God places on the human soul.
As our Heavenly Father, God wants us to know that He has everything under control. He does that by reminding us to be strong and courageous, because He is always with us.
Worrying about what may or may not happen tomorrow is something that will not only drain the life out of us, but keep us from what God wants to do in us today.
Nicodemus came to Jesus with some real questions that revealed that he was truly searching. Jesus spoke to Nicodemus with love and compassion. That underscores the passage in John 3:17 where Jesus said that God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world would be saved through Him.
As we take time to remember the sacrifices of men and women who have given their lives for our freedoms, let's not forget the greatest sacrifice that Jesus made for our spiritual freedom.
God wants us to position ourselves to hear His voice. He wants us to learn how to drown out all the other competing voices in our lives and focus on His voice.
Taking a look at what the Bible really says about the role of women in the kingdom of God.
Ministry the way Jesus modeled it should be marked with love and humility. Ministry is not just the job of pastors, but the job of every believer.
Discipleship is one of the key factors in building a church. It was mandated by Jesus after His resurrection that all of His disciples go out and make more disciples.
To value authentic worship is to put in proper perspective who God is and just how much He means to our lives as worshipers and as His witnesses.
We recognize the Bible to be the true and inspired word of God, that it is without error, and we can trust in to guide us through our lives.
Core values become the filter through which everything a church does passes through before a decision is made to do it.
Jesus promised that even though He would be crucified, He would rise again on the third day, complete the plan of salvation and secure the keys of death, hell, and the grave.
God has given us specific instructions in His word as to how to prepare ourselves for battle against our enemy. The enemy is real, he is powerful, and he is strategic. We have to be aware of these attacks and know how to defend against them.
Effective, healthy, growing Christian community has to become a place where it's okay to not be okay.
Growing together in community as the body of Christ means that we seek out our spiritual gifts and use them to benefit HIS kingdom.
Being related to someone famous or infamous really has no bearing on the path our lives will take. We have the ability, through the power of the Holy Spirit to break generational curses and live the life God wants us to live.
