Hello, hello, and welcome to another episode of the Red Couch Theology podcast. This week, we cover sort of two major topics. One is sort of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit's relationship to prayer. And how do we know when God's speaking, and what that experience is like, and how do we know what he's saying to us? And then the second major component we discuss is the nature of scripture. What's scripture trying to say to us? What's its nature, what's it trying to accomplish, and why is it so difficult to understand at times? And even where do we start? So if those questions interest you, that's, this is the show for you. Let's dive right in.Send in your questions at redcouchtheology.com.
Join Melissa for Lesson 1 as we encounter Jesus as Creator. Not only was there at the beginning of our world but He was a vital and strategic part of creation that continues to reveal God to men thousands of years later. Jesus is the Word, the Living Voice of God. When He came to earth to live, die, and be resurrected back to life, He had more than His journey to the cross in His Heart. He came to dwell among, and within the hearts of real people like you and me.
The Bible Is God's Living Voice to Believers. The Bible is alive and active.

What if God speaks, and we don't respond? Our response to God's voice is just as important as our ability to listen to Him. It's the difference between admiring what Jesus says and actually doing something about it. Responding to God's voice can be risky, but it's always worth it.

On today's Shine with Frannie Show, I share a humorous story from my childhood about my crazy family vacation to Washington, DC.It's late night, we are lost, it begins pouring and my mom is freaking out--I think we can all relate--metaphorically. It's actually a great visual for how we sometimes feel in life. When we feel lost, lonely, afraid, anxious or stressed--we need to block the outside voices and tune in to hear the voice of God. I share three practical tools to spiritually connect with God and get in tune with the Holy Spirit. I pray this blesses you! If you feel stuck in life, want to hear the voice of God more clearly, or want to have a deeper connection with the Holy Spirit, DM me CLARITY over on Instagram. God speaks to us through many styles of communication, but perhaps none is so common as what is often called the still, small voice: a voice that comes to us like a thought in our head but that we can recognize to as a thought from God. We see this voice used in the famous story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19, and Paul talks about it in 1 Corinthians 2. It signifies a closeness to us from God that indicates his great love for us and desire for intimacy. In this message Pastor Joel explains how this voice works and gets really practical about how we can distinctly tell God's voice apart from the other thoughts in our head. In the final message of our series, The Devil Is a Liar, Pastor Robert teaches that hearing God's voice flows from knowing Jesus, not mastering a spiritual formula. As we grow in relationship with Him, discernment and obedience become a natural response to His truth.

In Mark chapter 1 verses 9 - 13 we are given an account of two events that focus our sight on Jesus. The first has to do with our Lord coming from Nazareth in Galilee to the Jordan river where John the Baptist was baptizing. Here Jesus was baptized by John in the Jordan. Here, in verses 9-11, is one of the first times the Trinity of God is revealed.Jesus is baptized, the Holy Spirit descends upon the Lord and the voice of the Father comes from heaven in commendation of the Lord Jesus. Then secondly, we see the savior, driven by the Spirit into the wilderness and tempted by Satan. He was with the wild beasts and angels ministered to Him.In Mark chapter 1 vers 9 with our Lord's baptism and temptations Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.
This is message 5 in Gospel Record of John John 1:29-34 Jesus is revealed as the Lamb of God sent by the Father to deal fully with the problem of sin. He came not merely to teach or lead, but to offer Himself as the sacrifice God had provided from the beginning. His worth and authority rest in who He is, the eternal Son of God marked by the Spirit and approved by heaven. Through Him, sin is not merely covered but taken away, and God's plan of redemption is made clear to the world. Vanity, Vapor, and the Voice of God explores how the wisdom of Ecclesiastes reframes our understanding of life's pursuits and burdens, revealing them as fleeting “mist” compared to the eternal significance found in God's love and commandments. Through personal stories and biblical reflection, Samuel Goulet encourages listeners to let go of anxiety and misplaced priorities, urging them to build their lives on the enduring foundation of spiritual connection rather than temporary achievements. The episode invites listeners to embrace a lighter, purpose-driven year by focusing on loving God and others, and finding true satisfaction in the voice and presence of God.
