Podcast about the Reddit Clan System and all things related to Clash of Clans with your host: Zag-geek!
Congrats! You found the 6th egg! To find the 7th, hop over to r/RedditClansHistory. You'll find a post waiting for you.
It's been over a year since the last episode and 2 since I talked to Andy! Shaking off the cobwebs and letting the RCS ask some more questions as we talk about the RCS and clash for the past year. Come hang out with us. Given that it's been awhile, we got through less than half so you'll see a Part 2 in a few months!
Sleepy, the energetic leader of Reddit Zero, joins me to talk about growing the Zero family with their two feeders Reddit Zed and Reddit Galaxy and what that's meant for them in terms of structure and leadership! He will talk about how Zero got to where they are today, the many helpful Cos and Elders he has in his clan and how to grow the team for success. Also what his plans are going forward and how it is that they can manage all 3 clans and prep for a great future for the family! Listen in to talk about feeders and the Zero family!
Patsfan299, John, and Kyle of Reddit Argon joined me to cover a lot of topics I've been trying to get Argon to interview on for a long time! We discuss how Argon has evolved over time, from being a quiet clan to one of the social hubs of the RCS, including the transition to John, through their adventures teaming up with Crusades and Night as sister clans, their acquisition of Reddit Heroes and now onto a clan that's working to keep its flavor while also tackling some tournaments! In there, we end up covering a lot of ground, mostly about shaping the personality of the clan and their personal ups and downs. We also talk a lot about the delegation and the importance of promoting good people, choosing what you, yourself are willing to take on, and sharing the load. Join us we sit and Talk Clash with John, Kyle and Pats of Argon!
EvolveYourGame Family (EYG) recently warred the Reddit Clan System (RCS) in a 45v45 scrim. I told them if they won, I'd feature them in the next episode. Well, we may have had the % but they got us 124-122 so here we are! EvolveYourGame is a group of 20+ clans that have gathered in the last few years and that operate in many ways as one giant clan with a variety of options. Accepting all adult players, they offer clans from casual to serious from warfarming to CWL and freely move players between them. Sharing common servers and working heavily together, they seek to grow ever larger and operate very closely together working toward being a many thousand player clan, well beyond the 50 allowed by Supercell. In this episode we'll talk to All Hail, Robin, Garden Gnome, and Homemade, 4 of the leaders in the group, about their structure, their beliefs on clan operation, and what EvolveYourGame is like! I, of course, was curious to learn and compare it to RCS and find out where we differ and agree! We'll also talk about history, some of the ways in which their clans interact, and also what they themselves think of the way the game is currently headed. Hopefully we stay in touch and rematch EYG and RCS again! Stay tuned as always!
In the second of this two part series, we will talk clash with our four newest clans who have one thing in common: they are the trailblazing first Reddit Clans in the RCS to not have "Reddit" in the name as we seek to grow into the future! Go Canada was the first of the clans to join the RCS after this change! Started by Canadians, they a friendly bunch with a massive war record! They won all wars their first year of clan wars and have over 400 wins to their name as the winningest clan in the RCS. They tend to take on other Canadian named clans and beat them, even though they are now relatively international. Co-Leaders SpartanEric17, Wiles, and Jayant Dude join to talk about Go Canada! NOVA OZ FC has previous experience with the RCS, having been the sister clan to Reddit Ace for over a year. Started as a co-op between friends in Northern Virginia and Australia, they too are now international, and a competitive bunch! JDWestover, creator and leader tells us about their story and about what the change from Sister to Verified means and why they were happy to be able to take that step. Both clans talk about how they found us, what joining has been like, and what it now means to be part of the RCS!
In a 2 part series, this week and next we will talk clash with our four newest clans who have one thing in common: they are the trailblazing first Reddit Clans in the RCS to not have "Reddit" in the name as we seek to grow into the future! All four also have in common that they are active, enthusiastic and participating in the RCS Community. Ritwick, the leader of Indian Legends, and DemonHunter join to talk about IL, a multi-lingual tournament clan based in India, competing in several leagues and part of their own mini-family called Tombstone of Terror. Devil's Anarchy, leader of Aussie Warriors will then tell us about her clan, an enthusiatic social group based primarily in Australia! Both clans talk about how they found us, what joining has been like, and what they hope to get out of being in the RCS!
spAnser has long been a reddit celebrity known for being one of the best and first data miners of Clash of Clans and sharing info with the rest of us so we knew what stats were a'changing with each Supercell update. And it's not the first game he's done it for...but it is the only one that banned him for it He also runs the website for www.clashlive.com, is the owner of the /r/ClashofClans discord server, does the css web design for the /r/ClashofClans subreddit, authors https://coc.guide/, and has a discord bot to annouce wars! Very possible I've missed a few. Plus he joined me and several others on the latest Reddit v Forums livestream in Finland where Reddit defeated Forums where he infilterated Supercell headquarters not just digitally but this time in person! So sit down and let's Talk Clash iwth the one and only spAnser, reddit's own code guru.
Recruiting is one of those things that is absolutely vital to every clan! If your clan is going to stay healthy and active, someone needs to be on it. And just like dating, finding the right people (or the right clan if you're searching) can be exciting...and scary! JohnnyGator of Reddit Ace and JerseyDiablo of Reddit Upsilon join me to talk clash about recruiting! JohnnyGator is author of some of the most hilarious recruiting posts on r/ClashofClans and leader of Reddit Ace who, although they are a CWL clan, still needs to stay on top of it to bring in new blood. JerseyDiablo is a long time leader and, like me, long time fellow user of /r/ClashofClansRecruit and the /r/ClashofClans recruiting opportunities. Today we'll talk about why you need to recruit, how it's changed over the years, and things to think about while doing it! Plus learn a little bit about Reddit Ace! Trivia: did you know they were the original Reddit Eta in 2013? Except Supercell in game search censored the name, and thus they are Reddit Ace! Opening songs: Credit to the Theme Music of the Dating Game and The Newlywed Game JohnnyGator interview starts at minute 14, JerseyDiablo interview at minute 39!
The Turkey Day Trophy Push and trophy pushes in general are on the LONGEST traditions of the Reddit Clan System and once again a large number of our RCS Clans are pushing this thanksgiving in our 4th annual Turkey Day Push! Zulu and Echo went neck and neck into the home stretch this spring...both are gearing up for a good run this time even though we are all looking at the amazing start of Reddit Vortex! In this supersized episode, the 3 of us will talk pushing - strategies, history, and our own personal thoughts and memories. In addition, we'll divert a bit (okay a lot) to talk about Reddit Echo getting ready for their bid in the MLCW League Tournament and talk about why it is that Reddit Zulu is such an active clan as well as clan life in both. Perfect to listen to this Thanksgiving weekend for those on holiday...or while in the clouds for all you pushers out there!
The Builder Hall recently was updated to include BH7 and a lot of us are now playing it with 5 camps and the giant cannon. As we haven't yet really discussed it in detail but several in the RCS are really enjoying it and playing it hardcore while others have some very valid compliants, I invited folks to come join me to discuss anything and everything about the Builder Hall...thetallguy of Reddit Hotel and Piney of Reddit Hounds answered the call and so we did! In this we will discuss the original release, the issues with lack of competitive options, walls, gemming, the enjoyability of fast army training, strategy, comparisons with the main base, and much, much more!
To those who've heard of him he's mostly a legend these days! Flammy downloaded a little mobile game in early August 2012 and, when he went to look for a subreddit, he didn't find one...so he made it! Showing his love of teaching, he created guides and videos for Clash of Clans very early on and used those to grow the /r/ClashofClans subreddit. He also noticed that there was a need for good Clans for Redditors - and the Reddit Clan System was born! With time and passion he grew both for that first year, setting them both up for what they'd later become as they flourished and passed into the hands of others. Still active on Reddit, and the video game world in general, Flammy joins us 5 years after the game's creation to Talk Clash!
This is the fourth and final (for now!) in the 4 part series on Clash of Clans content creation, and today we're talking to professional content creator Klaus of Klaus Gaming! Klaus has built a small (actually, not that small!) empire in the Clash of Clans media world with YouTube videos and streaming. He has a high quality subscriber base to his streams he calls the Klaus Family and over 100,000 YouTube subscriptions. He streams CWL matches for his Clan BarbarianParty and also covers raids, guides for the main base, a fix-that-rush series, and how-tos on the Builder Base as well. He started doing what he enjoyed but also has turned it into a real life pursuit doing what he loves...and because of his high quality content, he's gotten noticed by Supercell, first being invited to their YouTubers workshop, then as a LiveStream contestant and most recently as one of the hosts of their 5th Anniversay Event! Listen in to hear about the development of his channel and his advice for others as well as a discussion between Zag and Klaus about why specific content creation is the wave of the future and how much of a part of the world it is going forward. While in Estonia I was able to get an interview with Darian the newest Clash of Clans Community Manager! In this episode we Talk Clash about what it's like at Supercell and within the Clash of Clans team! Also, we discuss how new features come into the game and the many ways that Supercell recieves feedback, as well as the desire for increased communication and efforts being made in this direction. Also addressed are several questions from the Reddit Community! Thank you to Darian for his time...and hopefully there are some new pieces of info in here for anyone who would like to listen! Because this episode of likely to be of high interest, the complete transcript is available on reddit! You can find it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ClashOfClans/wiki/darian_interview
This is third in the four part series on Content Creation for Clash of Clans! MathBandit from Reddit Zulu joins me for his first appearance, and Piney from Reddit Hounds for his third (first person to hit 3 episodes!) to talk about their experiences doing live streaming of wars and events both for their clans and for the RCS! Both have very different styles, but will talk about how they got into it, considerations for streaming including the dos and don'ts, what makes it fun, and how they do it behind the scenes. Chances are, any time they are streaming, you will find a link in the RCS global chat if you want to check it out! You'll be able to watch whatever war they are streaming and participate in the chat alongside anyone else watching. If you're nice, they may even let you hop onto voice :)
In this second episode talking about Clash of Clans video content creation, we'll talk to Galadon! He has found a way to make a career out of talking about video games! Among the many things he does, he has a channel on YouTube with daily uploads that average 10s of thousands of views and nearly 1.5 million subscribers, streams regularly on Mixer, and travels multiple times a year to Supercell headquarters to cast LiveStream events in Finland and Estonia! He creates content for Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and other games as well. Find out his thoughts on what makes for good content, speaking to the audience, and how he managed to start making videos and get in touch with Supercell! And of course on the game itself and the players. In this episode find out what it's like to find a way to monetize doing something you really love to do, and go behind the scenes with Galadon, one of the most successful pros out there in the Clash of Clans world. This will be the first of a four part series on creating Clash of Clans video content! In this episode I'm joined by returning guests Bazie of Reddit Heroes and Andy of Reddit Upsilon. Both regularly do recaps for their clans and will talk about their creative choices, the benefits it gives their clans, the technical aspects of creating and publishing to YouTube with two very different set-ups and some of the thought process that goes into deciding what to include. You can find both of their videos regularly published to our subreddit and the RCS discord. At the end of the episode we also talk about balancing admin time effectively and compare and contrast Upsilon and Heroes which are two clans growing in very different ways with respect to increasing the family size and tackling entry into competitive tournaments. Please join the 3 of us to Talk Clash and stay tuned for the rest of the episodes on content creation following this one! Find their channels here: Reddit Heroes Clashin' in a Van (Reddit Upsilon)
Zag got sent to a workshop about the Shakespearean play King Henry V and applying its lessons in the modern workplace....instead we'll take a look at how to apply them in your clan! Let's Talk Clash with one of the greatest inspirational speakers of the 1400s (as interpreted by Shakespeare) as we look at how he took the reigns in the "Clan" of England as a young king and new Leader and led them to war against France. From Henry we will see the importance of getting the clan to work together, establishing ones self as leader and making sure rules are followed, on inspiring the clan in tough wars, and on the importance of preparing the clan...both for the individual battle and well in advance by structuring the clan and its resources to be well prepared for what you might face. Finishing it off, we'll look at how Henry was able to add France to his Clan Family in a way that made it feel beneficial to both sides. Featuring performances and clips from Kenneth Branaugh in his 1989 Movie and a monologue by Tom Hiddleston
I'm joined by 3 of the events team that has been running events in 2017 for /r/ClashofClans! Tamzilla, Brad, and BOT WOLF along with myself and several others have done over half a dozen events, mostly of the war variety. We'll talk about how we got involved, what it's like behind the scenes and how to put together a successful event. If this sounds interesting to you, sit back, relax, and have a listen!
Elocuencia of Reddit Hunters is one of THE highest energy persons I've met in the RCS! He is a new leader as of earlier this year of Reddit Hunters and very quickly got involved with helping to moderate and grow global chat and in looking at ways to grow the RCS. Elo and I talk clash about two topics: The first is his transition to leader in Reddit Hunters where he had not been at all active in the RCS to suddenly becoming very active and bringing a lot of Hunters "into the light" of interacting with the RCS! Included is the process of becoming a leader behind the scenes, and his own discovery of what it meant for him in Hunters, and the discussion of what Hunters atmosphere really is that he hopes to maintain or shape going forward. Second we talk about the current RCS prospective process. Elo has been helping to identify independent Reddit Clans who might be future members and look at those on our prospective list. He talks about his role in helping with that process for Galaxy, Paladins, and Rho and how the RCS decides whether or not a new clan will become verified. Join us to talk clash about new leaders and prospectives! *Elo was one of the last leaders inducted into GroupMe leadership chat before the transition. To clarify: I'm told by others that it wasn't actually common practice to have the new leader remove the old.
This week I get to Talk Clash with the leader of Reddit Oak (and the RCS's newest Council member!), TubaKid, and one of Oak's oldest members, ProE Jockey! Oak is one of the oldest clans in the Reddit System as the original "O." The original plan was to discuss the verification process, as Oak was the first clan verified (or reverified) after the formation of the Council, but as Tuba pointed out: to discuss that, it also makes sense to talk about the deverification. So, we'll talk about Oak's history, the RCS's FairPlay policy and what it means, how deverification happened and also Oak's decision and process to return to the RCS. In the end, it has a lot to do with commitment to values, to one's clan, and trust on both sides. It's a good insight into FairPlay, clan verification in the modern age, the process of leader transition from Pika to TubaKid, and also what the RCS has to offer clans then and now, especially as a clan has its members become more involved. So tune in, and let's Talk Clash with one of our most deeply rooted clans!
This week I get to hound four of the Reddit Hounds. The Burricane, JayForge, Civil, and Piney join me to talk about the many, many tournaments Hounds is involved in (CWL, RWT, NDL, and, through CrYpTiK VoiiD, MLCW) and how they got there. Certainly Hounds (both on their own and via their family) is the RCS clan with the most tournaments and arranged wars in their ridiculously full schedule. I also get to ask what all is up with the Hounds family clans TheBuckEyeGrove, CrYpTiK VoiiD, and Queens Gambit. We talk clash about why they like being in the RCS and both what it gives to them and what they give to it. We talk about how all these tournaments vary and why they like each. We talk about how the family operates. We talk about the history of Reddit Hounds and their daily operations, how they got to where they are, and also random things like Piney's streams, why maxxed players enjoy the builders base, the constant recruiting struggle, the benefit of having events available to members of a busy war clan, how to reach out to other clans, and the importance of delegating tasks to avoid burnout. So, leash yourself to this episode and listen to us bark about Reddit Hounds! Sound clip: "Who let the dogs out" by Baha Men
Casey, leader of Reddit Rho, joins me with his coleaders mazz and OnExShOtxKiLeR to talk Clash about Reddit Rho! Rho has quite the history and is currently composed of ex-members from Reddit Demons, old members of Reddit Rho and new members! We discuss the past glory days of Rho and Demons, what it was like in the RWCS, the issues with merges and splits, and the reformation of Rho along with what brought them to want to reapply to the RCS. We talk about how it's going so far their first few weeks in the RCS and also their special random troops war that they are hosting this Thursday!
JerseyDiablo of Reddit Upsilon, aka Little Buddy of Reddit Jrs, joins us to talk clash about engineering in the game including what it's like to face engineers, why people engineer, opinons about it and how engineering came to be in the first place. He has experience on both sides of the equation - both in being leader of a competitive clan that has to face engineers at a disadvantage and of being the leader of a clan that's "fun"gineered on his other account. We will also discuss war weight management and how the matching algorithm and our understanding of it has evolved over time. Let's talk clash about engineers!
I was traveling this weekend and unable to get a regular episode for you this week. Hopefully back to normal episodes next weekend, but for this week, I've put together a collection of Clash of Clans dragon stories for anyone interested! Like the older fairy tales, these are sometimes dark, some include death, and they aren't all happy, so whether or not these are child appropriate is up to you, but maybe you'll enjoy them anyway :) All are clash inspired, at least roughly and originally told in Reddit Zulu in game chat. Included in this set: Fury Rising (4:50) - A tale of preparing a revenge attack following total devastation of the home village. Spectre (14:10) - The tale of a dragon who answers the donate call and leaves the others in camp behind. Gronk (15:33) - A goblin yearns to fly. Brazos (17:28) - A barbarian decided to tease a dragon and make it spend all day flapping above the camp. Edmund (19:50) - It was said that Supercell might delete bases inactive over 180 days. This is the story of the last dragon born in a base that goes inactive. Winston (23:20) - A tale of Golem horror inspired by the Winston Churchill quote: [Each neutral country] “hopes that if he feeds the crocodile enough, the crocodile will eat him last. All of them hope that the storm will pass before their turn comes to be devoured. But I fear—I fear greatly—the storm will not pass.” The Dragon on the Mountain (30:48) - The origin of the Barbarian King Delta (38:08) - The tale of a dragon who decides to accept coins in exchange for providing air transportation. Enjoy! Next episode will be a normal RCS Clash Talkin' ep.
Andy of Reddit Upsilon and host of Clashin' in a Van takes over the 10th Episode of RCS Clash Talkin' to interview Zag! You can't shut her up as she talks about her clashing experience, Zulu, her role in the RCS, opinions on the RCS and Supercell and the game in general! Literally Clash Talkin' with Zag. Also, if you like more bird noises, check out Clashin' in Van YouTube channel for Reddit Upsilon recaps and nature sounds! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuh4b9hxHDgCHrhHkFymSmg
This episode is all about Reddit Viper! A bunch of the clan joined in to Talk Clash. As the winners of the RCS War Tournment we talked about their experience with that and also discussed Reddit Viper's journey to becoming the serious war clan they are currently, including the Potluck and CWL and how things are going for them right now. Also, they told me about their reasons for leaving the RCS and plans for the future. Best of luck to Reddit Viper going forward - we hope the RCS has served you well, but no doubt your adventure as an independant will continue! May things shine for you as a clan and good luck out there! Thanks for Talkin' Clash and congrats on winning RWT Season 1!
The Spring/Summer RCS Trophy Push is just now underway! And this is the second part of the two parter celebrating the RCS Trophy Push! Whereas the last one talked about pushing history, in this episode we talk rivalries and push strategies! First up let's talk to Leo of Hotel and Kyle of Argon about their own pushes and those of their clans in the last push and into this one where Hotel and Argon are neck and neck! Then I'm going to turn to several in Zulu to talk about pushing at various townhall levels. Prototype set records for Zulu as a th8 (all the way up to Titans!) and FossyG did so the last two pushes, first as a th7 in champs last May and then as a th9 in titans 1 in November! After that, I talk to Nubbcakes, the th11 who has been positively dominating the top individual spot the last several pushes and who seeks to do so again. All 5 of my guests are pushing this week as well! Come on RCS and push with us! Intro song clip is a small
The Spring/Summer RCS Trophy Push is just now underway! And I'm very pleased to have had the chance to talk with Baegel of Reddit Elephino and Rejuvyn, formerly of Reddit Troopers and creator of the prequel to our modern scoring system! In this episode I talk with both and get to catch up a bit on both what's happened with Elephino and Troopers and their time with the RCS and since and also really talk about how trophy pushes came to be and how the events started. Turns out that they are much the same today! Listen in as we talk about memories and what the push is all about. Intro song clip is a small
This is the final of three parts talking with those who attended Livestream Events hosted by Supercell from the Reddit Side in Reddit v Forums 2! In this episode, I talk to Princess Leane of Reddit Viper and Apex of Why So Golem? about what it's like in Finland and at the Supercell headquarters and a bit more about the live stream itself including about the people who attended. Find out what it's like at Supercell itself from those who got to tour and hang out! And of course...hear about how they liked the update...that we will all see...eventually ;)
This episode is the second of three parts talking with those who attended Livestream Events hosted by Supercell from the Reddit Side in Reddit v Forums 2! In this episode, I talk to Kim Jong Un of Reddit Zen and Tarlus of Sagitarri and the Raided about their time on the live stream. Kim talks about leaving Tarlus in the airport, what it's like to attack live, and how much fun it is to read update rumors. Tarlus discusses the livestream, his time on reddit, and his new views on Supercell.
This episode is hopefully the first of two (or three!) parts talking with those who attended Livestream Events hosted by Supercell! In this episode, I tallk to Goatman_12 (/u/Nothing_Doing) about the most recent livestream in Finland earlier this month: Reddit vs Forums. He is a moderator of the /r/ClashofClans subreddit and has been instrumental in putting together these events. We discuss the subreddit, the first Reddit v. Forums event, hopes for the next update, and of course the livestream itself and what that was like from behind the scenes.
Now that Clan Wars just celebrated it's 3rd year this past month and the new update is looming large with a possible new game mode while we approach the 5th year of the game....it seems a perfect time to go back and look at what Clash of Clans used to look like back in the day! I talk with 1YardStare from Reddit Echo who has been with the RCS nearly as long as there has been an RCS about what it was like clashing back in 2012 and all the changes to the game and the culture since then. For some, it'll be a trip down memory lane. For others you can think of it as fables of ancient times!
In this episode I talk to Phantom from Reddit Viper, Piney from Reddit Hounds, Jersey Diablo and Spirit from Reddit Upsilon, and Bazie from Reddit Heroes about their clans and their road to the RTW, along with predictions for the finals and talk of what we might do next time for RTW Season 2! Stay tuned for Final Four results! Viper vs. Hounds war ongoing, close, and almost over, Upsilon vs Heroes will be next weekend. Results will be posted at www.reddit.com/r/RedditClanSystem and www.reddit.com/r/rcswartournament
Inaugural episode! Katie of Reddit Pirates joins me to discuss the past RCS scrims and how it all works, as well as the differences now that friendly wars are and option and the future of RCS scrims now that we have the RWT!
