A weekly podcast of sermons at Subang Jaya Assembly of God.
The term Christians (Christ-like) was coined for the Antiochian church by the masses. Today, let's learn more about their obedience and service unto the Lord. This day, how can we be more visible and thoughtful to our community?
Mission begins with our encounters with God, just as Jacob's struggle led to a new identity and purpose. It is also shaped by God's call, which reveals His powerful works and invites us to do even greater things through the Holy Spirit. As we hear the cries of the lost, we must ask: who will bring them the good news? Let us not stay silent. Let us rise and be mission inspired!
The real power of Pentecost is not in the wind or fire, but the Holy Spirit's ability to change people. The transforming work in Peter is something that still happens in us today. Don't hold on to the past, it's time to be open to a new move of the Spirit. Do you want the Holy Spirit wholeheartedly?
Yielding to the leadership of the Holy Spirit positions us to partner with the Holy Spirit in accomplishing the purposes of God. A believer who yields to the Spirit is someone who pursues God, possesses passion for Him, and receives power from God.
When you believe in Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to live in you, bringing new birth, true freedom, deep joy, and power that overflows like rivers of living water. Let His living water flow through you today, refreshing not only your own heart but also those around you. Let us be bold for Jesus!
Like David, who often asked God to search his heart and lead him on the right path, we grow in wisdom when we live with purpose, honour God, and make the most of our time. It's about building good habits, reflecting often, and staying close to His presence. Surround yourself with people of faith, and let Christ remain your ultimate goal.
Church unity is biblical and a form of effective witness to the world. Disunity and unforgiveness dilutes God's power and presence. Today, reach out in love and harmony to reflect God's glory.
Life in the Spirit is contrary to life in the flesh. Following the way of the Holy Spirit will see us serve others in love, experience life and peace by satisfying the Spirit's desires and yield the fruit of the Spirit. Let's live empowered by the Holy Spirit!
To live for Christ, we need to have self-awareness of our relationship with Christ, empty ourselves so that God can fill us, place Christ at the center of our lives, and embrace the knowledge that following Christ is a lifelong process.
God's Word is unchangeable and timeless. We can grow in the knowledge of God by reading, receiving, revering and responding to His Word. Let's purpose to move deeper as both hearers and doers of the Word.
Let's aspire to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. Seek and pursue the spirit of God, as it is our ultimate purpose to know Jesus Christ. It's time to go beyond, to be no longer immature.
When the Spirit falls, we experience God's presence, receive His guidance, and are renewed. He speaks to all people and restores what is broken. Even when the world is shaken, His kingdom remains, and His love never fails.
Parenthood is a God-given purpose to raise young lives to reflect the love and glory of God. It is a joy, a blessing and an opportunity to experience the goodness of God. Parents shape the faith and future of their children, and their children's children.
A family unit that seeks to glorify God is still suceptible to certain threats such as parental favouritism, siblings rivalry, disagreements and lack of communication. It's time to recognise these difficulties and bring it to God, for the results of a broken family bond can bring severe negative generational impact.
Flaws are present in all families, even Christian ones. Unaddressed issues can lead to dysfunction in our homes. Thankfully, the dark side does not have to define our reality. Take the path to healing today by surrendering it all into God's redeeming hands.
A godly home begins with fearing God, allowing His Word to shape us, and trusting His plan. He blesses families who honour Him, guiding their steps and giving them peace. While it is easy to say we love God, true reverence leads us to walk carefully and faithfully with Him.
A genuine expression of love for God comes from our total surrender to Him. When we learn to love God with our entire being, we begin to love what He loves - the people He died for. Are we willing to pay the price to be channels of His love?
We rejoice in the knowledge that Jesus is more than what we could ever hope for. He is our Light and Saviour, our salvation. Today we can joyously proclaim that Jesus is our Redeemer that has overcome the world. Let's bring this hope to everyone around us.
Do you know the price of darkness in your life? A touch of sin taints everything. Yet, a touch of Christ cleanses everything. The price of God's love is precious and free for us, yet costly. What will be your response today?
Before we share the Gospel, we need to do some housekeeping to ensure that our lives testify of the good work that God has done in us. We can start by being prayerful, being kind, being a good listener, and being a clear communicator of the Gospel. Let us be intentional and bold about proclaiming the Good News!
We are compelled to share the gospel, not for personal gain, but out of obedience to God, the transformation we've experienced, and compassion for others. Like Paul, we may choose to give up our own rights to better reach people, motivated by Christ's love and His command through the Great Commission. Since Jesus gave His life for us, we are now called to live for Him, not just through words, but by actively sharing His message with others.
Each generation has been shaped by unique circumstances. Let's be intentional when reaching out intergenerationally. Now, aspire to build stories of life with one another, as God is continually revealed through story. It's time to become one generation unto the Lord.
Paul emphasizes the importance of supporting those in need, honoring church leaders, and leading with wisdom and integrity. Even Jesus, in His final moments on the cross, demonstrated the responsibility of family by entrusting His mother to John's care. Likewise, let us be reminded that the greatest contribution to the Kingdom of God may not be something we do, but someone we raise.
From Elijah to Elisha, the passing of the mantle of God's anointing is an example of how we can pass on our mantles to the next generation. Let us be intentional in mentorship and proclaim the great things God has done in our lives.
Jesus is returning for His kingdom, where He rules and reigns over everything. What must we do to prepare for this? As the ones who bear His name, let's allow His glory to be revealed in the house of God and in how we live our lives outside.
The stories and experiences we have are to be told to the generations to come. With this, as we speak to the generations now and after, that they may know, learn and guard. This day, find your space to be a guide to someone in need, that they may grow in the way of the Lord.
Joshua 7 reminds us of the importance of staying connected to God through prayer. Let us not fall into a prayerless walk with Him. Instead, may we always honor our appointments with God, seeking Him first in all things. Remember P.U.S.H.I.M—'Pray Until Something Happens In Me.'
Let's reflect on the prayer of Jesus at the Garden of Gethsemane. He submitted to the will of the Father and obeyed, despite feeling overwhelmed with sorrow. Press in: watch and pray persistently.
Prayer is the key to unlock God's intervention in our impossible situations. Let's lay hold of our breakthroughs by listening to God, seeking Him earnestly, entering into serious prayer, and getting right with Him.
Dr. Paul Ai was a trained and practicing witch doctor until he was called and transformed by God. Much like the apostle Paul, his life of persecution in fervent pursuit of God's kingdom led to the transformation of his Vietnamese community and brought him across 92 countries to proclaim the wonder-working good news of Christ.
As we enter into a new horizon with God, know that the enemy waits to challenge us at the gates. But he is a defeated foe. Choose to believe what the Word of God says over his lies!
To move to new horizons, we need to keep our eyes on God and on His plans for us. It is the power of God that allows us to move in faith. Let us proclaim His praise to the nations!
God's goodness is evident in His provision, guidance, protection, healing, and abundant blessings. His presence is constant, working beyond human understanding to fulfill His purposes in every season of life. May we always find encouragement in His goodness, knowing we are never alone or without hope.
Before we can move into a new horizon, we need to move out from where we are in order to move into where God wants us to be. God is able to do beyond our imagination and expectations. It's time to be renewed.
Thanksgiving tunes us back to God, who is the source of all things. Let's embrace a heart of gratitude, growing in generosity and worship. In everything, we can choose to give thanks!
The birth of Jesus is a source of great joy, as He is Immanuel—God with us—bringing hope to a hopeless world. He offers clarity in confusion and embodies God's boundless love in a cruel world. This Christmas, we rejoice, knowing Jesus is with us, filling our lives with hope, clarity, and love.
The story of the ten lepers reminds us to recognize God's freely given grace and acknowledge His mercy in our lives. Having been saved and given a full life, our thankfulness should overflow, transforming from thanksgiving into "thanksliving," a life of intentional gratitude. It is through gratitude that we find contentment, turning what we have into enough.
As the year draws to an end, let's take time to reflect on the goodness of God. Through the challenges of life, we can find our refuge in Him.
How do we practice giving thanks in everything? It's about the atittude. Not only that, we trust that our worth and joy doesn't come from possessions. God is building us up, so let us aspire to continue living our lives in Him.
God chooses people who are ready to follow Him and do His will, to accomplish His purposes. Let us examine our hearts and trust God's instructions. True obedience is shown not in understanding, but in following despite not understanding.
Whatever role we take up in the family of God, we need to regard our service to God as a training in character, spirituality and skill. Let us maintain a humble spirit so that our service may be acceptable to our God.
The tongue has the power of life and death. Let's speak words that matter into the lives of others and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.
As Christians, our ultimate example of leadership is Jesus, the servant leader. What are the characteristics He modelled for us? May His love, selflessness, and humility be reflected in all that God has prepared for us to do.
To be a true disciple, we must remain faithful to Jesus, love the church, and be a hardworking servant in the kingdom of God. Let us not give up in our journey of discipleship but allow God to write the story of our lives.
Peter was called by Jesus to follow Him and help others grow in faith. He became a leader among Jesus' disciples and shared the message of Jesus with many. Like Peter, we are called to deny ourselves, take up our cross, follow Jesus, and lead others to know Him.
Jesus teaches us that simply calling Him “Lord” is not enough. We are called to walk in obedience and maintain communion with God throughout our lives. Our top priority is to love God wholeheartedly. Church, are we being transformed to be more like Christ each day?
The way of the Lord may be regarded as a narrow path: counter-cultural, "unsafe" and uncomfortable. The way of the world is a wide path: a majority choice, seemingly assured. Come, it's time to be reconciled to Christ Jesus today and trust in the narrow way.
In today's message, we reflected on the true essence of worship. We learned that worship begins with surrender to God. Despite dark circumstances, we find light in His presence. Worship is complete when we make sacrifices for God, and in our weaknesses, He grants us strength. He is Totally God.
Living to bless God leads to being blessed by Him, as praise refocuses our attention on the Lord and invites His presence. Through praise, we release God's power and resist the forces of evil, demonstrating our faith. We can draw inspiration from Paul and Silas, who prayed and sang hymns even while imprisoned.
Our God is a holy God and He requires our worship towards Him to be one of reverence and holy fear. Let us worship the way He has dictated us to, and lay down our worldly desires and temptations as we approach the holy of holies.
Worship offers a way for us to develop a healthy inner garden. It prepares us to catch a vision of God that transforms us. Cultivating the disciplines of corporate and private worship will lead us to a deeper experience of the Holy Spirit's life-giving power.
